I was browsing the web as one does and came across an interview the CEO of WG gave to mark the 10 year anniversary of WoT... https://venturebeat.com/2020/08/16/how-wargaming-overcame-mistakes-and-reclaimed-the-future-of-world-of-tanks/ In the interview Victor says WG view WoT as a hobby that people partake and invest in. Looking at how things are developing in WoWS it pretty much looks like WG have the same take on WoWS. So how do you view WoWS? Personally for me it's a game within the hobby of PC/Console gaming that I engage in. Interested to see what others think.

Thanks @Procrastes When I read the interview transcription, for me it suddenly explained why WG have monetized the game in the way they have. Victor sees WoT and WoWS as hobbies in their own rights, as such he expects people to invest and spend on them as you would in any other hobby. WoWS and WoT are hobbies and Computer Gaming is another. It explains why they offer us such big purchases. I myself see WoWS as an element within the hobby of Gaming that I enjoy, I have a gaming budget and I spend it across my computer gaming hobby as I see fit. WoWS is just an element within that hobby that eats part of my budget if I want it to. I was interested to see how other players viewed WoWS.

I think its more a case of the translation from original Russian to English was bad. Once it was pointed out, someone at WG should have corrected the English article and made it clear, plus an announcement somewhere to say it has been updated to clear any misunderstanding. Same applies to any other language where the clear meaning was lost in translation.

Hi Aetius, sorry for the confusion. And yes option 1 should be read as Its a game I play along with others and I view them with the same importance. Option 2 it's a hobby, as in WoWS is basically the only game or most important game I play and I treat it like a hobby investing more money into it than I would if I just thought of it as a regular game.
-
Exactly, and as WG said this was the only auction in this update. The whole point is to give rare or hard (long grind) to acquire items/resources in exchange for something the game is awash with. It gives vet players with hoards of silver something to use them on.

I'm a commander of a clan full of history buffs, hence WoWs is just one game in the genre of naval combat and general historical combat games played, as well as light hearted stuff like Golf It and Among Us. WoWS brought us together as a community for which I am grateful.

And this is why the question was asked on a live stream I think it was, where it was explained that the 5000 lots are world wide and that all the bids from all servers would be put together and the 5000 winners selected from that combined list. I guess the lesson @Crysantos @MrConway@YabbaCoecould probably take from this is to have someone update the text in the news article to clear up this confusion, or post an announcement somewhere.

WoWS is definitely a game I play within the hobby of Computer Gaming that I enjoy. I tend to dip in and out of WoWS, depending on how I feel. When I get to the point that it feels like a job, I take a break and go play something else.

Added a bit of both as an option

^This^ is the scary bit.

Its a sealed bid auction, not an open auction. The whole premise is to get the best price for the seller, by making those that bid overpay. If yoiu want to get geeky read all about them here ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First-price_sealed-bid_auction

Items charged to Paypal without permission
Fat_Maniac replied to Aldramelech's topic in General Discussion
The thing is, when I bought my 30 days I did pay with PayPal. I can't confirm it but I'm pretty sure during the payment process, there was a checkbox option described as make the process easier never have to think to buy your prem time again, opt to take a subscription, or words to that effect. If it was ticked by mistake or left checked (which is a pretty low and sleazy move if it is checked by default and you have to uncheck it) you would end up buying a subscription. However I would hope the email receipt you get after every WG purchase makes clear what you have bought and you could then easily correct your mistake. Next time I buy a month I'll check again, unless someone can confirm earlier? -
No they told us repeatedly. There were a total of 5000 lots of 100k coal available across all of the server clusters combined. All bids from all clusters were combined and the top 5000 bids from across the world won. So the lowest winning bid would end up being just about the same on every server, which is exactly what we see. No rigging involved.

Both available on the premium ship for the same price but one is the subscription. I bet alot of people have been caught out thinking they are just buying 30 days prem time. -

@Excavatus Gratz. I have a clan mate who also bid 100,000,00, he will check if he won when he gets home. But I just had a thought @YabbaCoe What happens if when determining auction winners you end up with multiple players with the same winning bid? I.e you work down the list of winners, allocatinf a prize to highest bidder and so on down the list, then when you get for example to the 100 million winning line there are 3000 players bidding that much but only 2500 lots left. Does it become a first bid placed wins thing? -

Hidden stats, so we only have your word on it. If your ranked stats are so good, show us so those with the appropriate knowledge can confirm. And you have just stated exactly why the CV is broken. "It can kill good and bad players alike indiscriminately". Why ? There is no effective counter. If the CV were fair and balanced, it would punish bad players more than good, because good players would know how to counter it. But the whole premise of how the CV is implemented in WoWS pitches the CV''s skill against the targets luck. A CV that is determined to take you down, can and will, it's just a matter of how long it takes. -
As a lad born and breed in Cheshire, I find the concept that my tea of choice is from Yorkshire, confusing, but it is a damned fine brew.
