I've just about given up, trying to talk tactics via the in game chat window, people just seem to ignore it and do there own thing these days. The chat window know seems to be reserved for calling out the enemy, or your own team when your own incompetence gets you in a fatal situation. The new fashionable thing to do seems to be for the incompetent DD or best concealment drivers to constantly spam 'I need intelligence data' from the back of the map. I do wonder sometimes why I bother.

Why Ranked and CWs are not 12x12?

for CW because most of the smaller clans wouldn't be able to field a team -
Carrier Rework and the artificial fog around it
Fat_Maniac replied to it3llig3nc3's topic in General Discussion
I cant't see this rework being a major overhaul of the class which alot of people seem to think is going to be delivered. If you overhaul the CV class and adjust the mechanics in a big way, you affect all the other classes as well and we end up with WG having to firefight and rebalance the game after the CV overhaul and new mechanics are implemented. All I can see happening is a major rework of the CV User Interface (UI). Same or slightly tweaked mechanics , just a different way of interacting with them that doesn't make you think you are playing C&C or some other RTS, for example, this first person squadron view that seems to be floating about at the moment. If it is just the UI which is new, there are gonna be alot of unhappy players, alot of people seem to think that some sort of major overhaul of the CV mechanics are coming too - but I don't see how that can be achieved without breaking what we already have. Whatever happens, I cant wait for the changes. I started playing over 12 mths ago and have put off touching CV's because I keep being told a major rework is on the way. I don't want to invest time and effort into learning the current CV UI and game play, if it's suddenly going to be changed. -
Divs should only allow same-tier ships
Fat_Maniac replied to FishDogFoodShack's topic in General Discussion
I wonder how the new MM will try to handle a fail div, if at all. I can't see it mirroring tier and class, so maybe a fail div will just sit in the queue for 3 mins before being passed to the old (current) MM rules. -

Fat_Maniac replied to FishDogFoodShack's topic in General Discussion
I was thinking similar to this. I don't think the average player is aware of how MM handles mixed tier divisions -
HI and thanks for contacting us. I've sent you a PM. :-)

If by crates you mean containers, that would make sense, earn them in missions etc, and put bundles up in the shop for people to pay hard cash for them as well. That would fit in with the model and mode of operation we have seen become standard over the last few months.

Carrier Rework and the artificial fog around it
Fat_Maniac replied to it3llig3nc3's topic in General Discussion
1. They have built prototypes of some ideas and ,..... 2. ..... shown them to the CC's under NDA. Nothing is decided or fixed in stone as of yet 3. WG know how emotive the CV rework is to the player base. Because nothing is finalized yet they are not going to build up peoples expectations by showing something that is not going to happen. -
Hmm why am I getting a terrible feeling that clans are going to get two new buildings, a coal mine and Steel Furnance, to 'earn ' the new currencies.
-
WG have already announced new features and building for clans will be coming later this year.

What am I? Who am I? Am I the bird flying or the mossy floor below? Questions to be answered yet left behind Feeling lost in the sea of unknown These thoughts, emotions I'm at a lose Am I questioning too much? Thinking alittle too much? Trapped in my world of wanting more yet receiving less than desired My mind seeming empty yet full as I look out unto the sea chaos in this place My wandering soul slowly fading, my words in the emptiness of obscurity Blurring my reality with questions I can not answer Am I here or there? Am I a ghost unseen or simply barely living? These thoughts, feelings Calling out from the dark waiting to be heard

My few cents on World of Warships - New player constructive criticism
Fat_Maniac replied to anonym_vUfpz4M3loBv's topic in General Discussion
From what I see this is actually the other way around. New and sadly more experienced players copy bot behavior , and bring their (bots) bad game play to the PvP format -
The Battleship Plague 2 - Broken by Design
Fat_Maniac replied to dasCKD's topic in General Discussion
There are another couple of elements to this discussion I think. Not sure if it's already been mentioned .... The game rewards damage dealt too much. Hence the longer you live and the more you shoot and harder you hit your target, the more you are rewarded, in credits and XP. Which ships have the largest HP pool , and live longest if angled - BB's And who hits the hardest and have the longest ranges - BB's And because it doesn't take much to learn to shoot straight, and HE is so effective at damaging everything - angling has minimal effect, your new BB player learns to shoot HE all day long from any range as long as you survive, because the longer I live the more damage I deal and the more credits and XP I earn, so the quicker I can move up the tiers, taking the bad habits along for the ride. The game places too much emphasis on dealing damage and rewards failure along the way.- 103 replies

There is one drastic thing I have done in the past which has worked when all else fails. Do a complete uninstall and reinstall of the game. As part of the uninstall make sure you delete any folders and contents the game uninstall process leaves behind

Ahhhh. This explains your original post. Yes T5 is a big step change in gameplay when you get there, and T5 for lots of players when they get there for the first time is a huge frustration. For me the key to T5 was learning not to rush into a fight with anything else on the enemy team. At t5 you will frequently meet T7's. At T5 you need to pick your targets, and provide more of a support role for the rest of your team, follow the pack so to speak. The exception to this is if you find yourself top tier in a T4/5 match. Then you can have an awful lot of fun. T5 is about learning your ships strengths and weaknesses, and learning the meta of the game, so you can get the most out of the ship you are sailing.

Bottom tier game, doing few stuff and still number 1 in XP

Also daft question, have you tried removing any mods you have installed, repairing the client, and then running the game in a pure vanilla fashion?

Suggestion:- Limit number of times/duration a ship can be radared
Fat_Maniac replied to Jaki_AJK's topic in General Discussion
But that's why we have aircraft, CV based and spotters from other classes. -
Also changing Indy now is a bit problematic. We will have to wait for the new US cruiser split to be implemented and bed in before any changes could be made to a premium ship in the line.

Suggestion:- Limit number of times/duration a ship can be radared
Fat_Maniac replied to Jaki_AJK's topic in General Discussion
Instead of limiting Radar, it would be much better if WG fixed Radar and Hydro so that they didn't work through islands. I don't play DD's much and only at low tier atm, but I know from clan mates the frustration felt when as a DD driver you have done everything you can to approach in a stealthy way, to set a trap etc, only for radar to spot you through the island you are using for cover. We have Line of sight mechanics, I really don't see why it would be difficult to apply those rules to Radar and Hydro. At least then a smart DD or even cruiser driver who is approaching a cap or target zone and using the islands for cover isn't screwed over when someone pops radar. -
It would never work. Somebody in a steathy DD would just run around the map hiding until everybody else gave up in frustration. Apparently in the early days of WoWS there was a death mode, you had to kill the enemy team to win, but it didn't work because people ran away and hid.

It's really just for marketing reasons. WG can maximize it's cash sales to the player base by applying different offers and prices in different regions across the world.
