The game has been in milking mode since containers were but in the premium shop, and with the flood of premium BB's introduced 'to make use of all the hulls removed, and models not yet introduced'. I can understand it to a point, the CV and AA rework will take a lot of development resources and that needs paying for, but their also seems to be a large element of pay cash to get to high tier, and going in ranked and clan battles.

Thing is, those flags seem to cost a lot of coal, relative to other ways of getting them

Am I the only one who loves 1 and 2 point Captain skills?

AR as a 2pter is a grossly unrated skill. It is so good. -
And radar directed gunnery, so forget aiming just select your target let the guns turn and load automatically and press fire the aim bot would do the rest

Operation Cherry Blossom - Your First thoughts?
Fat_Maniac replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
TBH. Disappointingly easy. Feels a bit like this one is more style over substance. But the night battle and flares are beautiful to look at and adds something to the game. really hope we can have night battles in other game modes There are only really two things to learn on this scenario in order to get the 5 stars; 1 - Get in range and kill the two cruisers targeting the marine divsions, as quickly as possible, otherwise you won't get the 5 stars. 2 - At the end push in to get firing angles on the enemy aerodromes. Everything else really is just turkey shooting and WASD hax to avoid the torp soup, it's fun for a while but after a while it gets a bit boring. -
What will be the effect on player numbers in Ranked/Clan Wars due to the new Arsenal?
Fat_Maniac replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
What might change, is that players who never really wanted to join a clan, will now feel they have to to get steel and coal at the higher earning rate -
That is the real issue here I think. Its not the balance of radars in a game, it's how they are used. It comes down to player skill and experience again, just like CV play. A good player who uses radar effectively and efficiently is gonna be worth two or three noobs on the enemy team. Div's also play a part, radars in divs work in a coordinated way and are therefore so much more effective. The same really applies to Hydro defAA and smoke, but Radar is the one gimmick that really shows the disparity.

If supportive actions earn more xp than doing direct dmg.... would WOWS be a very different game?
Fat_Maniac replied to Rionage's topic in General Discussion
What WG could do, is build a different game mode, where team play (supportive actions) was rewarded more than raw damage. The player base then has a choice. But just changing the reward system of the current modes, will make no difference, simply because most of the current player base don't understand how XP is earned atm. -
A little project - This Day In History for July
Fat_Maniac replied to Tuccy's topic in Naval Battles
1915 July 2 Russian raid on Gotland Russian cruiser squadron intercepts German cruiser force laying mines off the Åland Islands. German mine-laying cruiser Albatross sunk and cruisers Roon and Prince Adalbert damaged. 1940 July 3 Mers-el-Kebir - British fleet attacks French fleet in harbour in Algeria July 9 Calabria (Punta Stilo) - British fleet attacks Italian fleet July 19 Cape Spada - HMAS Sydney sinks Italian cruiser Bartolomeo Colleoni off Crete 1943 July 6 Battle of Kula Gulf took place in the early hours of 6 July 1943 during World War II and was between United States and Japanese ships off the coast of Kolombangara in the Solomon Islands. -
Difficult choice to make then

Don't forgot IJN 20KM fire and forget torpedoes with internal guidance, to find their own way to the target

And they tried ship to ship missiles as a prototype. Apparently they were a lot of fun but totally nonviable in WoWS

^THIS^ And when it happens, I know I'm very lucky to be in a team with 'such' special people, especially the ones that abandon that cap they have been taking to catch the border hugger.

If I play to try and focus on a mission or event objective, then yes everything goes to crap. I'ce learned to start selecting the ship I'm most likely to get the requirements in and then just play normally. If you start trying to change your natural play style for a mission then things will start to go wrong and your stats will suffer. Well at least in my experience at the moment. In time as I get more experience, this should change.

Oh God I remember that! I was in a fleet battle once with over 600 ships in combat. It was info overload

OP .... Start your day at a low tier 3 or 4 for example. Stay there til you win, then move up a tier, and repeat. Also pick ships / classes that suit your mood that day.

Test radar jammers on RN DDs not one more gimicky hydro
Fat_Maniac replied to Boris_MNE's topic in General Discussion
Oh please just apply the LoS mechanics to Radar so it doesn't work through islands. It would be a relatively quick and easy change to implement, and it would mean Radar has an effective yet simple counter. All that is required is a bit of skill from players to understand this. Please @MrConway @Crysantos pass on this simple yet effective request to the dev team. -
Scenario: Futility of Naval Station Newport
Fat_Maniac replied to Bratwurst_Bob's topic in General Discussion
I never said stay inside, I said don't stray away from, meaning don't yolo off into the sunset, with one hand under your desk. And yes the ops are easy, it is players that are the problem. Whats worse is the bots are scripted, so once you play an op once or twice you should be able to predict whats coming when and where, and act accordingly. -
Scenario: Futility of Naval Station Newport
Fat_Maniac replied to Bratwurst_Bob's topic in General Discussion
The key to this scenario is to take something with good DPM. Nurnburg works well, Cleveland used to. Don't stray away from the base and this operation is relatively simple to win. The fails I've had on this scenario have all come in random teams when people rush out to meet the enemy.
