Weekends are getting too painful these days...
Fat_Maniac replied to Sark74's topic in General Discussion
I'm actually starting to believe the Flamu's and Flambass's in our community are a big part of the problem. Lots of players hang on every word they say, and think the way these good players use ships and the opinions they hold are the only way to do things. I'm sorry but really it's not. That's the great thing about WoWS, there is something for everyone and their play style, if they bother to look for it and learn. Players need to stop being sheep and find their own way. -
Is that a carrot you are dangling there @MrConway, or are you telling us something is already planned and being prepared?
-
But it's all fake news! And we in the EU don't do fake news
-
All that will do is make people farm XP. But karma points would have to have some value before even that would happen.
-
Totally agree. Just try playing C&C on a console. It just doesn't work right, your point and click moves and map scrolling are just too cumbersome and slow.
-
I suck at BBs, it just won't click. Even after grinding to tier 10.
Fat_Maniac replied to M0bius_One's topic in General Discussion
@The_Dunk_SquadIt might just be that IJN BB's don't suit you. One of the other BB lines might be better suited to your play style. I like you don't feel comfortable in a BB when sailing alone, I get much better results when I div, in cruisers it's the opposite effect. I like cruisers because I can react and change what I do depending on the flow of battle, more easily. A wise man with much better stats than I once told me that as a BB player you don't really decide where to go, the rest of the team do, so you kind of have to go and support what they want to do, in terms of caps etc. -
The RTS part is what makes current CV play a different game to what everyone else plays, and actually puts some people like myself from playing CV's at the moment. If I want to play an RTS game I 'll play something else. The reason current CV play is RTS style is because the guys at WG who wrote it apparently came from the NavyFields development team. If you like the RTS style then that's the game for you in future. I'm guessing the CV rework, plus the rework of AA mechanics that is rumored to be part of it, is all intended to have everyone play the same game. And if the rework is actually going to come soon, then what better time to announce it to the world than at Gamescom 2018. My greatest fear is how the hell are they going to implement it, and ensure it doesn't completely screw game balance or meta.

Errm, actually not true. During the Battle of Jutland some ships had to withdraw because ammo supplies were running low. But I agree with you since this is a video game and not a simulation limited ammo is pointless

Is this the intermission? When does the show start again ?

Soviet Cruiser Stalingrad Tier X
Fat_Maniac replied to ClappingLollies's topic in General Discussion
Well when it comes it will be a Russian ship, probably some T10 monster BB brought in because somebody found an idea on the back of a fag packet in the Kremlin archives based on this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Design_A-150_battleship -
Salvo spread mechanics - can it be improved?
Fat_Maniac replied to Shurz's topic in General Discussion
I posted this sourced from LWM a while ago but it explains dispersion. -
Tell me about it, I'm grinding Hipper atm. Don't have a problem being in T10 games, it's all good experience, but when you are the only T8 on your team, then that is just torture. It's only really funny if the mirrored T8 is a CL.
-
I'm not happy, i's going to make a T8's life all the more challenging.

Supertesters provide evidence and data for WG to do the initial balancing. What happens then is we get the ships, and play them the way we want to, which is not necessarily how WG want us to use them, Throw in whatever meta is in fashion at any given time, and how the ship or line performs in the real world is feed back to WG through our performance data. After a while and if needed ships get nerfed or buffed, to match the style of play and meta WG want us to play. The problem is they don't really tell us how they want us to play, and so the changes they make to ships / lines / mechanics can seem incomprehensible. WG are trying to herd sheep (the playerbase) to play in particular ways to match their vision of the game, we just want to do what we want to do and have fun, and don't really know what WG's vision is.
-
If Supertesters need to understand game mechanics, that the reason why, you cant find below average players for the program. If you understand the game you are going to perform better than those that don't and so have better stats. @Tuccy

Anti-Aircraft Visuals and Sound
Fat_Maniac replied to Professional_Lolicon's topic in General Discussion
Sounds like a setting parameter needs to be added, to let us run AA effects as whatever our PC can manage or we want to see, a bit like graphics settings. The AA sounds and visuals are pretty poor. Hopefully something will be delivered as part of the CV / AA rework. -
Recent stats including WR are more important than overall stats. But even more important than those are the trend graphs you see on a site like WoWSNumbers. As long as the graphs are moving upward, it show you are improving. Of course you get blips along the way, especially if you decide to play a class or nation you haven't touched at all or in a while. Stats are all very well and good but they definitely do not tell you the whole picture, and it's very easy to get fixated on a subset, WR for example. But something like WR can quite easily be manipulated by playing low tier games to pad your stats.
-
Of course I could mention having multiple clan divs, and attempting to sync into the same battle, but that would just be wrong
-
Happened last year, happened at Christmas too. Will continue to happen in the future. You are in a clan, go div with your members. A div of three is more than capable of holding it's own and dealing with 12 holiday happy kids.

Should missions that you can complete in both Random and Co-Op should be made harder in Co-Op?
Fat_Maniac replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
But that wouldn't work, People would just play the easiest mode to get the reward from. It already happens to an extent with the get x kills or destroy x modules type missions that can be played in co-op and randoms. Also when a kill a particular ship class or particular nation misison pops up for both modes it's easier to do in co-op because you just play the class or nation needed, and guarantee at least one enemy to help you with the mission grind/ -
so tell me, should i stop playing yamato. is that the message you are sending us devs
Fat_Maniac replied to Rage_Oddball's topic in General Discussion
I think somebody needs a new tin foil hat, and the OP's name tells me everything I need to know. -
They claimed a while ago the BB overpopulation everyone was shouting about was an EU problem only, so they wouldn't do anything about it

Fat_Maniac replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
You forgot the 'Earn X base XP' missions. They take considerably longer in PvE because of the reduced earnings. And believe it or not some people actually prefer co-op to PvP, I have a few members in my clan who prefer PvE. And there are plenty of mission chains where playing in co-op isn't allowed, so they miss out on them. They enjoy the relative piece and quite of PvE and the reduced salty/ toxic chat found in Randoms when a player or team don't follow the demands or bidding of the idiot on their team spaming chat with insults and demands to go here, or calls of git gud. -
No No No. We have enough HE spam already, if anything fires are a little OP at the moment or people simply don't know how to manage them properly. We don't need anything else that starts more fires. We have enough trouble getting BB's not to camp, more fires will do nothing to help the game.
