How do you think the game should be funded
Fat_Maniac replied to Hanse77SWE's topic in General Discussion
As is now. To change it too anything else would demand a huge amount of effort from WG to rebalance the economy and rewards in the game. The trend in gaming has moved away from monthly subscription. look at Eve. They had to change in order to keep the player numbers, and cater for the people that like to play several games. -
Very true. Spotting is everything in this game, and DD's also provide great area of denial cover. Once your team loses them it's a hard slog.

But that is a simple skill, that anyone with at least 1 brain cell learns. You simply don't rush the caps at the start. It's sad that even that basic skill cannot be learnt by many players these days.

We have a couple of spaces available, for any sociable history lovers regardless of their stats or preferred battle modes, The clan has evolved since it was founded, to meet the members wishes. But we have fun, all we ask is mutual respect and honesty.

Does it all have to be so complicated?

I'd like that too. I hardly touch HIndy, because I know I'm not really good enough to play her. And God I hated Yorck, it was pre her gun buff. I just couldn't make those flighty shells work. -

And by putting them as high tier, WG can demand a high price for them. Put them in mid tiers and WG don't get as much revenue. -
Do you want submarines in the game?
Fat_Maniac replied to BanzaiPiluso's topic in General Discussion
Unfortunately this is the point at which your argument failed :-) WG have shown us they can't reasonably balance what we have. Of course you are right, we will get them, once WG work out how to extract the maximum earning from us for them. I don't mind paying for stuff, but I do hope that what I get for my money is fair -

Subs in game. Well at least we could hide from planes whilst submerged -

There is one change to the economy Wg could make that would over time help everyone. Stop rewarding failure. Drastically reduce the amount of XP you earn if you lose. And reduce credit earning on a loose just to cover expenses. We want fun and engaging games, so improve the skill set of the player base by making people realise they have to play well and learn to win to progress -
Mount the appropriate flags and farm Operations is a good way to help your credit balance at T6 / 7

USS Montana Unlocked, The Adventure Begins

I forgot Katori. I got here free with in a premium time pack a while ago. Played her a few times and realised why I got her for free -
Wargaming, why do you regard your EU players as second class citizens?
Fat_Maniac replied to BlackFish__'s topic in General Discussion
4 sekrets commrade actually. There is a new premium as well -

Oh God Colorado. Nice guns, shame it takes you most of the battle to get anywhere where you can be effective. -
Bismarck was the first target ship I set myself in this game. I got her some 18mths ago, and my disappointment was huge. T8 MM, her need to get in closer to work, with all the T10's around and the HE spam it was a demoralizing experience If you don't have a high pt captain it's tough really tough. I put her down and moved on to other lines, and since then I've hardly played her. But that is because I don't see the KM BB line as one the inexperienced player should take. Buismarck works best if you can position and read the flow of battle well and have a good captain.

This is not the way to develop a game
Fat_Maniac replied to divinity_123's topic in General Discussion
I think that boils down to what we have being a botch job as a work around, and asking them to botch it some more, until they can actually build the spectator mode proper. What we have works, sort of, but it looks clumsy. Why apply more effort, no matter how little is required, when there are more pressing things the dev's need to work on. Every dev hour costs money, as does testing, so it boils down to the cost benefit analysis of every change showing that the benefits out way the cost. The exception of course is a bug, and this isn't a bug that affects gameplay. For what is really a cosmetic, nice to have request, the cost doesn't out way the benefit. What we have works, it might not be pretty or slick, but it works, and at some point in the future we should hopefully get a spectator mode that we can all enjoy. For me the real issue boils down to the player communities priorities being given to the dev team, in an effective way. Other games actually have game community members as part of a steering group, who gather community requests and issues, and every few months sit face to face with the dev team, like the CC summit format, to pass every thing on, and hear what the devs have planned. Here we have community WG employee's and CC's passing feedback to the dev team, what we don't see or hear is how that feedback is feed back into the dev plans. -

Except. It's not spectator mode at all. It's a player on each team that kills each other /. dies immediately. It's the same functionality we have at the moment to continue watching a battle we are fighting in after we die. We have to be part of a team that joins the MM queue and goes into battle The only way anyone outside of the team members see that battle is because one of the spectators streams it. The only functionality added at the moment by the devs is getting the 2 nominated spectators to spawn close together and then auto detonate. A true spectator mode requires a lot more effort be applied, and who of the 100's who want to spectate gets to control the camera ? -

It's not just the build time that has to be factored in here is it. It has to be tested to see if it works. It has to be tested to integrate with everything else. It has to be tested to see what impact it has on server resources. And how do you stop a spectator mode from being abused in competitive modes? How do you stop somebody from one team having a spectator view of the enemy team thru a 3rd account. -

Fat_Maniac replied to divinity_123's topic in General Discussion
Developers in most situations are detached from their end users and for very good reason. Developers like to show off their talents and have their customers like the product they deliver. In simply terms the dev would give the customer what they want. But giving the customer what they want when they want it, isn't always the best way, or very cost effective. Also it doesn't fit into the bigger picture, or corporate strategy. Hence most companies have a tendency to keep their dev's at arms length from the customer. You don't want your dev promising to deliver something that the boss's don't see as important or priority. -

As a software developer with over 25 years experience, I love the way someone who has never seen a line of the game code can come and say, adding a spectator mode should take only a few hours or minutes. As players we have some ideas on how the game engine is structured, but we are not experts, and are totally unqualified to make such bold statements. Yes a spectator mode would be nice, but lets sort out the game mechanic and meta issues we have first. -
