And it's easy for them to set up, could be done very very quickly.

WOWs - Motivation for New Players

They tried something in internal testing, but dropped it as a bad idea, not so long ago. So either it was truly terrible, or so good it would make all other game mechanics look half baked.

WOWs - Motivation for New Players

That's true. But is soley WG's fault. They structure the game economy so that everyone progresses regardless of playing ability. They don't extract cash from a new player until they hit higher tiers, and need premium time or consumables. I understand why, WG need to make money to continue giving us the game, and the new player has many more shiney premium and freemium boats to choose from than the vet who has spent years purchasing WG content.

WOWs - Motivation for New Players

I agree. However I can see why some people think there is an elitist attitude. The game has a mature player base who have come through the ranks and learnt / or not as the case might be along the way.The crux is those vet player learnt together, and developed together. The best analogy I can think of is a new school opens and everyone is in year 1 together . You all learn and play together. Imagine a few years down the line you are a new kid starting out in school, being asked to learn and play with everyone else. You ask for help and advice and are told to 'git gud', or we've all been there push on But its worse than that. the game and meta have moved on too. How ships play and cope in the developing meta has changed, so the vet players experience when learning is different to the new player. And vet players have high point captains in abundance to throw at whatever line and class they like. New players don't, and it makes a huge difference, just look at certain ships performance with and without IFHE or Concealment for example. I'm sick of watching Flamu and other CC's try out a new lines or ships and just drop a 19pt captain on her and pronounce judgement . That is not how new players and casual players like myself experience the game at the moment. That is why I think some people perceive there to be an elitist attitude.

This is an arcade game not a simulation. Subs and CV's should be moved to separate game modes, with appropriate objectives to drive game tactics and meta development from the player base. And we should have a separate mode for surface battles only. Everyone can pick and choose what they like to play then. The issue is we don't have a large enough player base in each region to support that at the moment.

    Graf Spee

It was a while ago, and it was a traumatic event as you can tell, by the fact I still remember it so much.

    Graf Spee

Have you been spying on some of my Clans fleet events :-). The funniest thing to try is a full 2ndry spec Graf Zepp vs T4 destroyers. nO planes allowed. The destroyers cant chase her down easily and when they do they get burnt to death. Only way to do it is a travelling wall of smoke until you get close enough.

    Graf Spee

No you don't. The MM will pull a poor solo T6 in to make MM work on the other team. I have been that poor boat :

    Graf Spee

Unfortunately you can only fail div up 1 tier now. The UI won't let you start a battle with more than a 1 tier diff in the div. However seeing how Graf would hold up against Alsace, Musashi or Jean Bart would be very short entertainment value. It would be more like watching someone club a pup.

    An official explanation please...

That is the face of the dev who dared suggest that the CV rework wasn't working out as intended, and was then sent to Gulag for re-education.
  11. Oh dear. Dispersion is a probability not a certainty.

I'm sorry but how is this any different to what a BB can do to any cruiser that shows a broadside? And do that from range. With the sub there is some skill in actually having to position yourself where you think the enemy is going. Lock your target and fire torps. Then the fun starts. You have to manual lead your target to achieve a ping lock on a small bow and stern area. There is some skill in actually achieving that. Especially if the target is using WASD hax. However if the enemy sails straight and true AND you can with the skill needed actually achieve the ping locks then the enemy deserves everything he gets. Just as a cruiser sailing straight and true deserves. And the sub risks alot to achieve that. He has to reveal his position, and with such a small HP pool a single shell from a well aimed salvo is enough to kill him.
  13. Thats a good choice, a BB with what is effectively an Atlanta strapped to each side. The OP gets all his wishes

Ev1n said on the Birthday stream, they will open up the test to more people in waves but everyone who applied will get in eventually. We need more players its 3 or 4 humans tops per side with bots to make up the numbers. The AI is basically the co=op rules DD spotted chase it down, bots running into islands. In a sub i'm spotted and ignored over the DD they are chasing down. It's very difficult to assess anything at the moment. All we can really do is get used to the core mechanics in this iteration.

Seen this last tactic a few times now. It does seem to be effective. Also worth pointing out that sub on sub fights are just like .... It's too easy to just dive and avoid the torps,

German BBs - pls improve aim

I had a very similar conversation with a clan mate this morning. The German BB's need some love times have moved on and the game has changed leaving them behind a little. And it's worse for people grinding the line for the first time without a 19pt captain to help along the way.

I don't think I've seen a game without one yet. And the situation is compounded by the bots, A bot CV vs a human CV, it's really hard to tell what is really happening

    SUBMARINES - discussion, feedback, opinions

OK I was lucky enough to join the first wave of beta testing. Initial thoughts ... Playing subs requires skill, in a similar way that good CV play requires skill. Landing torps on target for maximum effect is very skill based. I don't mind this at all and is a good thing Subs seem too susceptible to CV attack, and have no counter other than to dive and look at the underwater scene, whilst you try to move away at very low speed, and await a DD to follow in for the kill. The CV player dropping his fighters over you to keep you spotted if you are at periscope depth seems too powerful. There seems no point in trying to take any skill that improves survivability. Any hit is just about fatal. The suggestion that subs should be played from the flanks or from the back, seems wrong. Torping through your own lines, is wrong in every other class, it should be the same in subs. Not sure I like having to use the C F and G keys to control your depth. Two keys would be better given we have to try and use WASD hax as well. At the moment subs are controlled by WASDCFG hax. We need more players in the Beta to assess game play effectively and give good feedback. A game with only a handful of players and the rest bots, does not help see how the meta or game play will develop.

Started after the patch every Konig Albert game I play. I've posted it in General Feedback for the current release.

    Premium shop pricing

Thats freemium ships and I agree. Friesland was a bad example. A better might be say Mainz when she is ready. A German premium ship is gonna sell well on the EU server so WG can charge a little more, than in other regions. A US BB would sell well in the NA region so charge a bit more there etc etc.
  24. Fat_Maniac

    Premium shop pricing

No but marketing 101 says charge the highest price you can get away with. So WG know for example when Friesland was released, as the first ship for the Dutch, lots of people would raid their piggy banks to get her. Gloss up the offering with a commander and some other goodies and people will think they are getting good value.

Research Bureau - Exp go to T1 ship and then???

No comrade. Use western capitalist pig hard currency to turn experience on the T1 to FXP, and then WG can have another big vodka party in the dev offices. The concept is crazy, but you know there are people who will actually do it.
