It was a truly terrible battle, especially as it was Tears of the Cruisers and I was in Saint Louis. Doesn't help I'm struggling to get used to the Saint Louis, but it was what passes as a typical high tier match at the moment. -

And want some more sadness? WG could have split the US BB line too and given us an alt line based on secondarys and brawling. Instead they went for the cash cow route, and gave us Massy, Georgia and Ohio, with California to come. I know the US had lots of other BB's but I think the prospect of a split US BB tree has sailed. -
It wont happen. WG stated they don't want large clans to dominate the economy as happens in WoT.

Well another solution, and the more I think about it the funnier it would be ... Just change the spawn positions on all maps, push the BB and Cruiser spawn points closer to the DD's and advance everyone closer to the caps. If someone does yolo at least his team mates should be in range to see what's shooting at him, and the BB's can spend the first 5 mins running backwards
-
Nice idea but .. All that would turn into is everyone camping or hiding behind islands for the first 3.5 mins, and just blobbing together if there were CV's.

Was before my time, but I have watched some of his X File videos. The paranoia is strong in this one I think -
I've sent you a PM :-)

That's good to read. It seems WG are making efforts to standardize AA. One edit you need to make sorry. Texas is a T5 premium. You know someone will jump on it if you don't

Actually Sir. Kirk and Spock stole a cloaking device in Star Trek the Original Series https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Enterprise_Incident Yes I had a very geeky childhood and adult life

Unless WG have changed it, this is not necessarily the case. There was no correlation between a given mount and it's DPS across multiple ships. Back in May this post https://forum.worldofwarships.com/topic/192541-continuous-aa-dps-explained/ showed that the same mounts on different ships were given different DPS values ... It seems the values for rate of fire and damage are based on not only which guns are used by how many. Here's an example of four tier 8 American ships, all using 127mm/38s, 40mm Bofors and 20mm Oerlikons. 127mm/38s - 5.8km to 3.5km Kidd: 340 damage every 3.91 seconds Cleveland: 440 damage ever 3.33 seconds North Carolina: 440 damage every 2.44 seconds Enterprise: 420 damage every 4.14 seconds 40mm Bofors - 3.5km to 1.5km Kidd: 210 damage every 1.54 seconds. Cleveland: 210 damage every 0.88 seconds North Carolina: 220 damage every 0.59 seconds Enterprise: 210 damage every 0.57 seconds 20mm Oerlikons - 1.5km to 0.1km Kidd: 110 damage every 0.73 seconds Cleveland: 150 damage every 0.28 seconds North Carolina: 140 damage every 0.32 seconds Enterprise: 180 damage every 0.26 seconds ... If it has changed to be consistent then that is a really good thing. But I agree with @StalkerSoC Marceau should from a purely historical point of view, be brought in as per her design, not some hybrid thought up by WG.

This is so true, and parents have to take an interest and some responsibly for what their children are playing, and attempting to buy. It's what my wife and I did with my kids and they respect us for 'guiding' them.

^THIS^ Just read what wikipedia has to say ... Loot boxes are considered part of the compulsion loop of game design to keep players invested in a game.[8] Such compulsion loops are known to contribute towards video game addiction and are frequently compared to gambling addiction.[1][8][41] This is in part due to the use of a "variable-rate reinforcement schedule" similar to how slot machines dole out prizes.[42] While many players may never invest real-world money in a loot-box system, such addictive systems can bring large monetary investments from "whales", players who are willing to spend large amounts of money on virtual items.[30] Gambling concerns are heightened in games that offer loot boxes and are known to be played by children.[43] Video games have generally been considered games of skill rather than games of chance and thus are unregulated under most gambling laws, but researchers from New Zealand and Australia, writing in Nature Human Behaviour, concluded that "loot boxes are psychologically akin to gambling" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loot_box#Player_investment_and_gambling_concerns

Just don't give him access to a payment method on his Wargaming account, Or give him a paypal account and set the parental controls and then you can control his spending that way. And the mechanics should be revised, Or at the very least the actually chances of obtaining a reward should be stated, like they do in the FIFA franchise. All we get is phases like 'very small chance'. That is open to our own interpretation. For one person very small might be 1%, someone else might think 0.0001%. WG are playing semantics with us, and doing nothing to improve our trust in them as an organisation.

Is that normal!? tier 8 CV against tier 6 no [edited]AA cruiser!?
Fat_Maniac replied to MNR1978's topic in General Discussion
^THIS^ I've had several games like this where you spawn away from everyone, that can give you cover as you are the low tier ship. You just know the red CV when looking at the team line ups before the battle started, looked at you and thought ... MINE !!!! When the battle actually starts you just pray he doesn't send his planes your way straight away. -
That is one of the best idea's I've heard in a while

Why not a WW2 simulation event? Axis VS Allies

You can thank our clan founder for that. He collected his replay and spliced it with mine and then did the video magic and applied the soundtrack to make it look like an old news reel -
Why not a WW2 simulation event? Axis VS Allies
Fat_Maniac replied to AlphaBaboon's topic in General Discussion
We do historical battles too The problem with all of them is, balance. It takes us a few runs to get there, but we have a lot of fun along the way. In several cases, we have to place restrictions on ship consumables and what main weaponry they can actually use , in order to make it balanced. It's a fine balancing act between giving both sides the chance to achieve the objectives we set, and sticking to the true order of battle. T4 and 5's don't fair too well against T7's 8 and above. And of course some ships are just OP, in this kind of event. Belfast, Flint etc. We also run some alternative history events too. Our resident Frenchman has come up with some excellent events using the French Navy. And there are lots of other what if scenarios we can play. At the moment, I'm thinking up two versions of an event based on Operation Cerberus (The Channel Dash). In one we will try and stay historical, the other will be an alternate history one based on the premise that the RN knew the German's were coming and dispatched elements of the home fleet to intercept in the English Channel. Heres a link to the first event we ever ran. Jutland ... -
Why not a WW2 simulation event? Axis VS Allies
Fat_Maniac replied to AlphaBaboon's topic in General Discussion
We play this event in clan on a regular basis, following seeing it done on Flambass's stream last year. However there are very real and practical issues with it. The combination of RN smoke / hydro plus US/RU Radar, makes the Allies OP. With a little bit of coordination, perma smoke, perma radar, constant HE spam, simply cannot be countered by the Axis team. The best Axis gets in 6km German hydro, and you simply cannot get close enough to light up the enemy in their perma smoke. There is absolutely no fun in playing the Axis under this. -
buy a container hoping you get what you want is that gambling?
Fat_Maniac replied to Lacomble1942's topic in General Discussion
Just do a google search on the definition of gambling ... take risky action in the hope of a desired result. It is bad, especially when a lot of that activity is directed at kids. My eldest son has just come back home for a bit, and he's into the FIFA football game franchise. OMG the money pit that is. I really don't know how they are allowed to get away with it. No wonder we see stories of kids emptying bank accounts to buy the packs, it's a relentless chain of events to get you to part with cash to get a slightly better version of a player, and there are multiple versions of those cards. And then to top it all next year when FIFA 2021 is released you don't get to carry anything over to the new game, everything is lost and you have to start all over again. It makes WG loot containers look good
