I have a friend who would disagree with you.

Hmm I wonder if California is a candidate for that then

Siegfried might be the ship we have to build in the new year event that was mentioned on the dev blog a few days ago.

I agreed to a point. When uptired you should play more defensively but NC's guns work best at mid range , and how can you snipe when nobody wants to push forward and spot. NC is not a sniping BB, those shells simply take to long to get out to long ranges, and dispersion out there is frustrating. Add in you have to keep moving or the CV will have you, and you need to use your AA to help cover your allies, and in a BB you have to follow your team, they dictate the tactics as you provide fire support to them. It sounds like one of those games when you know what is coming and you just have to 'accept' it, especially if your team moves out in a way you can see is only going to end one way.

Sounds like a normal high tier game. Fun for the HE spammers, but not fun for anyone else. But glorious spreadsheet says all is fine comrade. Use of those ships is very situational, and it is only good players that are getting the best from them. And of course WG are making money, so where is the problem? The sooner WG finally get around to changing IFHE as they have said they want too, the better. Although I don't hold much hope that it will achieve anything. It would help if WG could improve the MM to at least try to balance teams better. But I know that is much harder than it sounds. The only thing I can suggest is try and play high tier only in a div. At least that way you have 1 or 2 team mates you can try and rely on to try to counter the HE threat.

Which ship-missions did you get from the free (non-premium) Italian Cruiser containers?

Heads up: new T8 Cheshire and T8 Borodino announced
Fat_Maniac replied to DanSilverwing's topic in General Discussion
Then name it after a county class heavy cruiser that existed. They can say it is an imagined upgrade. Or imagine a totally new class and give it a new name. But don't use the name of a ship that existed and served in real life during the games time frame WW1 WW2. That confuses history -
I love her too and play her at T3. Move her up a tier or 2 would work, but only if you gave her some AA as well. She is susceptible already to sustained T4 CV attacks, Your WASD hax will only hold out for so long.

can battles Clan Battles - Mercenaries
Fat_Maniac replied to Jethro_Grey's topic in General Discussion
Very, because only small clans need mercs to compete in clan battles, and if you are unicum and want to play CB you will probably already be a valued member of a clan and get a spot in a CB team whenever you want one. If you are not valued then you simply move to a clan where you will be used more.- 15 replies

Yes and Yes, however. The tag everyone merges into receives the oil reward and if WG give anything to the clan treasury it goes in there as well.- 15 replies

can battles Clan Battles - Mercenaries
Fat_Maniac replied to Jethro_Grey's topic in General Discussion
I've thought about this subject myself. But I keep coming to the same conclusion. Part of a successful CB season, is developing your clans tactics and strategies, to cope with whatever meta seems to develop using the ships available in your clan. That changes dependent on the league you find yourself in and as a season progresses. That means consistency and knowing each other strengths and weaknesses. Mercs do not provide that. Also if Mercs are allowed I can actually see smaller clans struggle to keep members, as they go off to be Mercs and gain regular CB with whoever will take them. A better solution would be for WG to introduce some sort of alliance system where small clans can fight CB under a unified tag and share the rewards equally or based on each clans member participation. This would also allow larger clans spread across multiple tags to fight as one unit.- 15 replies

In order to understand Sigma and Krupp, this type of information would have to be included in game somewhere ... https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/95790-krupp-and-sigma-explained/?tab=comments#comment-2290471
-
Half of the player base will have no idea what sigma means. Same with Krupp. Whilst it would be good for those of us interested, I actually wonder how many players know anything about the ships they play. Example how many torp boats do you see throwing torps at targets well out of range that are never going to sail into range. Usually it's the RU 4km torps fired at something 10km away.
-
I actually ignore the missions and assignments, and just play. And a funny thing happens. I get the missions and assignments completed. Only rarely do I play for the personal mission objective. The last time was in the last set of directives, where we had to get 1000 2ndry hits. Then I took Bismarck into Co-Op and Yolo'd into battle. And Co-Op is the only mode I would ever consider being selfish in. it's bots and you can get away with it. It probably explains why I like playing cruisers in Randoms. I can react to the situation and provide support where I think it's needed. the result I don't have the best PR or dmg scores but my win rate is above avg. I play randoms to secure the team objectives.
-
And there in lies the crux of the problems we have. A lot of players don't see that they are in a team. They see themselves in a collection of random players, the aim of which is to gain the most reward. That concept is not helped by the missions and personal assignments we constantly have, where players work on achieving their individual mission targets rather than securing a win for their team.
-
What you described there is 'competative play', where the objective is to win. Clan battles is WoWS ultimate concept of that to date, where it doesn't matter how you perform as part of your team, you all get the same economic reward. Having fun doesn't have to end with a win, stomping the red team in five or ten minutes, is not fun, it's boring, there is no effort or learning opportunity involved. Much better and actually fun are those close fought battles that go down to the wire, win or lose. I have something to look back on then and think what could I have done better or differently, and improve as a player.
-
Indeed, WASD hax do work. Shame so many don't realise it.
-
The bias exists and was hinted at by Sub_Oct in a reddit Q&A whilst answering a question about Smolensk .... "I understand the concerns about this ship. And her being Russian does not help here, either, I am not going to ignore the fact that some people are biased because of that." I wonder if this is WG's implementation of a mercy killing mechanic
