    Gentleman agreement in clan wars

No not remove it, it would stiil be there as it is now, and would keep coming back like a bad smell, every T10 event after another. Better leave it in and balance it properly.
  2. I don't have problems with the Game Centre and WoWS, but lots of people have had issues with this last patch being a bit flaky. I had the issue when you log out of the client and the screen is locked with the game GUI, even though all processes are ended. I just dragged another open window from my second monitor into the game display and it would go back to my desktop view as expected. The hotfix issued resolved that for me A couple of clan mates had stutters and freezes in battle. For one of them it turns out it was his VPN. And there seems to be the odd GUI glitch every now and then in games etc

    New players to the game!

I only have 2 T10's Hindy and Henry. Hindy just feels outclassed, Henry is great, but clan mates are starting to feel she is being power crept by the new competitive T10 meta. The problem gets worse, as that competitive meta falls into Randoms, and then the whole high tier experience feels a bit broken. And that is such a shame as T10 always used to seem to be the best balanced experience. I'm sat looking at my T8 boats now and thinking whats the actual point of grinding further, when I get there the boat is probably gonna be left behind compared to the freemiums and premiums.

    New players to the game!

But WG want everyone to play high tier and take part in the competitive modes as that is where they make their money So they rush game progression through the tiers, and give those impatient players the opportunity to spend hard cash on shiny high tier boats. Back when I started I posted this ... .. and because not many players follow what I have tried to do, we get constant threads and comments about the state of game play.

    New players to the game!

New premium and freemium ships which will be released at the same time as a new season of a competitive mode (ranked or CB) at their tier starts, so that everyone thinks they need to buy the new OP ship in order to win the season. Rinse ... ... and repeat, but the next OP ship at the same tier will be slightly more OP than the last so players think they have to keep buying in order to stay competitive.. Meanwhile silver lines continue to fall behind, leaving mere mortals who don't have deep pockets, to wonder why they bother grinding high tier silver boats, as the high tier meta is dictated by whatever WG has put up for sale. And when WG do move competitive modes to lower tier (T8 and below), the season is dominated by premium boats, leaving players wondering if the game really is turning into a P2W model for competitive modes. But we have nothing to worry about as spreadsheet says all is fine. I do think WG have 2 spreadsheets when they talk about 'the spreadsheet' and at all times one is fine. Either the game balance spreadsheet, or the accounts department financial spreadsheet, but at no point can both spreadsheets be ok as that would be a paradox, leading to the end of the universe. Sorry to be negative but that really is how things feel right now.

Hearts of Oak recruitment thread [HOO]

We now have a couple of spaces available for anyone interested in history
  7. Too be fair to them, there are a lot of languages to try to co-ordinate a cluster wide event over. I don't think the WG EU community hamsters have the time to cope with that level of organisation.

Hearts of Oak recruitment thread [HOO]

We have 1 space left for anyone with a genuine interest in history.
  9. I agree, but made that comment in response to WG's statement, that if built surely RU BB's would have been the best in the world, as some sort of justification for making them stronk in the game.
  10. Yes and we all know from the history books, that the Soviet Union couldn't build armour thick enough or of a high enough standard, for a half functional BB
  11. I started a Statistics module as part of my degree. I soon realised that I could find a statistical method to interpret a given data set any way I wanted. I'm bipolar so at times I have a 'certain way with words'. My time on that module ended after I told the course tutor Statistics is total BS I can make any set of data fit any question.
  12. That's exactly what I thought, earlier this year. Oh it's the CV rework people are a bit burned out, it's understandable. But it is now more than this. Competitive modes now look more P2W than ever, T8 clan battles was evidence of this. The meta settled on premium boats being superior to nearly all silver ships. If you wanted to get into the top leagues and get the best rewards you really did have to pay for it. WG are adding more steel and coal boats, and you need to play the competitive modes to get those resources. And you have to mount premium consumables and the right flags as well. To be viable in competitive modes, and by that I mean be in with a chance to get into the top ranks/leagues you effectively have to pay for it, and you have to play it if you want the next boat WG put up that looks look it is going to have an impact in the next season i.e. Smolensk. I won't play ranked it's just nasty to me, and is all about saving your star if you are on the losing team, and blaming everyone else for the loss. It really doesn't look or sound fun. And then you have all the arcs / directives / alt armoury currencies. The game has to evolve and move on, but it is a very different offering now to the one that I started playing 30 months ago, and an increasing number of players are getting tired of it.
  13. And that's part of the problem. New players are more willing and ready to part with their cash. Once you have been here a while, you start to get a bit more selective in how quickly you open your wallet for WoWS.
  14. But when more and more players feel this way and they stop playing or reducung the amount of time they play and buying content, WG's revenues will fall. They have to act then , or they will just have to milk the rest even harder for cash. It's better to keep as many players happy as possible. Piss people off and they will walk away and tell everyone they know or asks that WoWS is bad. And WG have competition. Other companies are developing their warship offerings, and there are new games in development for the genre. I don't think anyone who plays WoWS really wants this to end up like WoWP, it's got too much potential for that.
  15. You assume I am leader of a hardcore competitive clan. I'm not. We are a broad church brought together by an interest in history. I have competitive members and casual members, I have members with 55% plus WR and those with sub 47%. I have members who play mostly PvE and those that play PvP. So the members of my clan are fairly representative of the player community as a whole. Different types of player are getting burned out, but for different reasons. There is no one common thread. That should be a huge warning to WG, that something is wrong and needs to be addressed. The waters are muddied by the CV rework which clearly did not go as planned, and was more painful and difficult than expected. You are right everyone does get upset after some time. But you are wrong that it is nothing WG could influence. The game content and how it is presented in terms of what you have to do to achieve the goals set, is how WG can and do influence player feeling about the product and service WG offer. I want this game to be a success I love it, and the more people that play and the more players that WG retain can only be good for us all. People like this game because it is a F2P model, but across the gaming industry there has been a move towards progress faster or only with loot box content. WG is in no way the worst company in this field, thank God, but this move towards ever more content being available either through a boring grind, or get it now - if you are lucky - by buying loot boxes, is getting repetitive. And those grinds are all looking similar, the directives for the French and Italian arcs seem to be made up of the same missions cut and pasted in a slightly different order. Every release seems to bring some new temporary currency to use, gained either through grind or buying loot boxes. I don't mind all the content, in fact its good, and I am grateful to WG for the amount of stuff we actually get for free but maybe WG should extend some of these events over more releases, so people have longer to pick and choose what they want to target with their WoWS game time, without feeling they have to aim for it now before it's gone.
  16. But that is the problem, burnout; is a feeling. I'm speaking here as a clan commander. I have members who feel burned out and drained by WoWS. They will play occasionally or play one or two battles a day and then feel that is enough. A spreadsheet will say they are just a casual player. Maybe Wg should poll clan commanders and ask them for feedback, after all we represent a body of players. We can provide a summary view of how they are feeling. And you are correct data does not lie, but it is very easy to interpret data incorrectly, or apply incorrect or unconsciously bias selection criteria when mining data to analysis an argument.
  17. Nevertheless, we hear the concerns about too much events leading to a “burnout”. Although the player activity data does not show it now, we take it seriously and currently doing a dedicated research on that. It will allow us to see if these concerns are valid. Please don't look at spreadsheets or mined data to do this analysis @Sub_Octavian, @MrConway, @Crysantos. Please survey as many players as you can. I want this game to thrive and succeed as much as WG. You need to talk to as many players as you can to build an accurate picture of what is really happening and what people think and feel.
  18. Exactly the same here too. The CV rework has had a big impact on player activity, as had the ever increasing trend of HE spam meta at high tier. Throw in the truly random nature of Random battles even when in a div of 3, and the game can very easily and very quickly become frustrating. I'm very much a casual player and take my time moving up the tiers. I've just finished my grind for my 2nd T10 -Henry iV-. I am loving Henry and seeing why so my people rave about her, but the T8 and T9 grinds to get to her were extremely painful. I actually questioned myself along the way as whether is was actually worth carrying on, and whether I should just stick to mid tiers.
  19. I read dedicated and committed as 'competitive'. In other words the top competitive clans that always participate. You know the ones I mean, they usually take part in KoTS etc too.
  20. Burnout is a real issue too. The shear volume of events and grinds or loot box purchases to accelerate progression, is taking it's toll. In my clan we play lots of other games together too. There is only so much WoWS the average human mind and body can cope with, before it needs a break
  21. From all World of Warships players, about 5% are actively participating in Clan Battles... Sounds about right, if you factor in small clans can't or won't take part, and at any time only 16 players from a single larger clan could participate.

frequently recurring server a/or network hiccups

A clanmate had lag and ping issues over the weekend. Turns out it wasn't WG's fault but his VPN's
  23. So basically the spreadsheet once again says everything is ok. I never thought I would say this, but sometimes it feels like WG are giving us too much at once. It's a nice place to be, the game is full of content, but sometimes the amount of content and effort required to achieve the rewards offered seems overwhelming.

Is this game become an overpen simulator?

Bad example :-) Sorry. Maybe overpens should cause slow flooding as happened quite a lot at Jutland.
