    Second lines for existing nations.

I think that might be one of the lines we get sooner rather than later. And I really wish, they would spilt the US BB line to give us a 2ndry heavy line circa mass gerogia ohio

    Second lines for existing nations.

The consumables and line traits are the real issue for me. How do WG make anything new worth wanting to try without making it too gimmicky. Pan Europe, could probably make up a cruiser line too, with real and paper designs from across the continent. More US lines, well we are getting subs but then again the same initial argument what new could be brought to the game that isn't a gimmick or game breaker. There is scope for a Pan American line, there could be South American clones of other nations and of course the Canadians with RN boats. It all comes down to marketing opportunities, WG have ventured into India, so we are getting a couple of Indian boats. I really think WG have missed a huge opportunity in terms of nations by not starting the game at an earlier time period with pre-dreadnaughts circa 1900 maybe. There were so many nations that had navies, and some really interesting options for game play.
  3. No it's not. The dreadnaught code, is Hello new customer you don't know how to use a smart phone do you. Here is a Nokia 3310. We tried to offer it to our existing customers, but mostly they didn't want it because it's not a smart phone. Only the phone collectors and history buffs took it to add to their collections. Your version would be if they gave away Odin or Puerto Rico to new players. Yes we gets a lot of stuff for free, but also a lot of content particularly ships and nice camo's is locked behind grind or pay walls with loot boxes with an undefined chance of winning, to speed up the grinds or win premium content. If you don't have the time to play this game much or exclusively, then you can feel a little underwhelmed, and left behind. WG could do themselves a lot of good, if they once a year on your game anniversary or after a particularly tough dev cycle in game, like the CV rework, said thank you for being a loyal customer here is a free gift to you for sticking with us. That could be as simple as a unique perma camo for a silver ship. Instead they choose to do things like that but lock it behind a grind wall of directives etc with loot boxes you can buy or earn by playing the game. I think what people are losing is that good will feeling for showing loyalty to the game and WG. Particularly when so many players have invested a lot of capital in the game.
  4. Thats down to a newbie being able to pay and play top tiers immediately, with no knowledge of the game mechanics or meta, Great for WG as thats how they make money to give us content, Yay. Bad in that we get bad game play experiences with teams that don't have a clue how to play. Vet players are reminiscing of the good old days when men were men and the only way you got to play top tiers was by earning it and grinding your way there. Those days are gone and we all just have to accept that, as the game moves on and develops so will the game play and meta. At the end of the day if vet players don't like how the game is they are free to walk away and play other games. Some clearly are. But in a game like this there will always be churn, as the meta changes and evolves so do the players. I just wish WG would impose some sort of learning curve or tutorial system, that forces players to learn as they progress
  5. Well player numbers are growing a bit. Just look at the steam player numbers ... https://steamcharts.com/app/552990#1y What we are seeing I think is a bit of a carrot and stick policy from WG. Watch this stream to get a code, read this portal msg (also a web page), to find a freebie. It all adds up to WG increasing the coverage of the game, on the streaming platforms and generally on the internet via more page hits. The counter to vet players not getting the odd thank you has some counter arguments, your annual giveaway voucher, on the anniversary of you starting the game. The snowflakes event , and the shear amount of stuff we get given for free, just for playing. The big problem I have with the game at the moment as a casual player, is the time gated / limited nature of much of the content, you are compelled to play more (and spend more WG hope) in order to get the reward which will disappear. WG often counter it with the prize will be made available at a later date again, but they rarely tell us how or when, and you end up having to pay for it. There is such a thing as too much content, and I think we are pretty much reaching saturation point. This is a F2P game and WG have to pay staff and feed/water the hardware, but there is only so much monetisation people can stomach, particularly if you don't have deep pockets, before you start to feel you are being milked. WG need to be very careful. In the past they have been alone in the niche world of naval combat online games. That is no longer the case, other companies have jumped on the bandwagon seeing the success of WoWS. And there are new titles coming out next year - Dreadnaughts - I'm looking at you, which will attract the naval history fans. I want this game to be a success and go on for many years, I'm just not sure anyone knows where it's going at the moment, as development plans for next year have been very sketchy, other than RN CA's and then probably Subs, what else can we expect?
  6. They have to save up for the Flamu 100k subscibers WG sponsered givaway they want to do.

    Poltava in the shop

Here's a bit more from him .. From my experience I would summarise her as a tankier (better armoured) T7 BB version of the existing T9 CA Kron, but with less utility (no radar, etc). She has the same frustrating dispersion as Kron, but when she hits she hits like a truck (perhaps better than Kron).

    Poltava in the shop

Someone in my clan bought her and played 30 battles in her yesterday. In summary play her like a Battlecruiser. He says she feels a bit like a Kron or Stalingrad, dressed in vlad armour at T7. With the flat arc's and shell velocity of 895m/s those 356mm shells find citadels quite easily.

    Are People Stupid or Greedy?

Narai is my favorite, take Sinop and wreck everything, or Shiney Horse to make lots of money, FXP, and Elite captain experience.

    Are People Stupid or Greedy?

Also an easy and relaxing way to grind credits, FXP and elite commander XP

    Are People Stupid or Greedy?

I'll go with stupid, or trolling too force a loss. Killer Whale is the easiest Scenario to complete, but the victory conditions do seem too hard for far too many to understand. And when the exit point spawns in the north, but you see everyone heading out of the southern channel towards the western edge of the map, you just know you have one of those special teams.

203mm SAP doesn't pen british cruisers

Since the RNG Gods never saw fit for me to get any Italian cruiser in the pre release, I'm grinding from T1 up. I'm amazed at the consistency of the hits SAP gives when you hit BB's in the right places, and those torps really do catch people unawares. NOt a line for new players to try, but The game play is different and refreshing, at least in low tiers at the moment

203mm SAP doesn't pen british cruisers

No it's not. It has more pen that a HE shell. So it can pen Superstructures and bow and stern sections on certain boats. However an APHE shell would be similar to the SAP we have, more pen and the bounce checks, but with a small fire chance. They were designed as anti tank weapons during WW2 I think, but there were issues in preventing the HE explosive pre-detonating from the percussion shock wave when fired.

203mm SAP doesn't pen british cruisers

So clearly the Italians are not supposed to be played as close range brawlers. And don't forget you have torps that work too.
  16. Fat_Maniac

203mm SAP doesn't pen british cruisers

It does exactly what it is advertised to do. SEMI armor piercing shell. It has more pen than a HE shell but less that an AP shell.

    19 points limited why

i think he is talking about the military rank associated with a captain as he gains skill points. Well at least that's what I hope he means.
  18. From a new loot box which will give you 1 flag, 10 silver and a small chance of getting a star.
  19. You can put in a training room a premium boat bot for any premium ship you own.
  20. Right now this is how I feel. Whatever game I play, I play for fun, but always do my best to win. Sadly of late that means my WoWS gaming time has been sporadic and I mostly try to play with clanmates. The game is just frustrating at times, yes we get given a lot of stuff for free, but a lot of content is now locked behind a grind wall, with loot boxes that give you a chance to progress faster. The back to back CB / ranked seasons is relentless. I don't play ranked, it just looks too stressful and frustrating. I see lots of WoWS player getting burned out The CV rework was a disaster - pre and post rework CV gameplay pitches your luck through RNG against the CV players skill. Whilst I applaud the good CV players skill, there is no fun in waiting for your luck to run out, from a determined CV onslaught. The competitive modes are being dominated by premium boats, especially when anything other than T9 or 10 is selected for a season. And every season it feels like a new boat is released at the competitive mode tier that is a little more OP than the last offering at the same tier, giving us power creep. That falls into random games and silver lines fall behind. I find it quite funny and telling, that after months of new players coming to the forum, saying that a silver boat needs a buff or is unplayable, too have been shot down in flames by vet players saying git gud its you not the boat, things suddenly start to change when the NTC arrived. Now we have vet players coming through saying ok this boat doesn't play like it used to when I ground it out way back when, its not viable and needs a buff. I now play for the friends I have made, and I only have 2 T10 boats but I'm wondering if it's actually worth bothering to grind above T8 anymore, given the apparent shift to P2W in T9 and 10

3-5-7 from wot is coming to wows

Well I hope it would give the lower tier boats a better experience, but like any MM change it's only as good as what people put in the queue. Too be fair the current MM works ok most of the time. The only time I see it struggle is with divs, it just doesn't seem able to cope well with those. And I'm sure if the MM is changed then players will react and change the boats they play to achieve the best for themselves, in the same way we do when a game meta change happens because of a mechanic change.

My wasn't directed at you. It was the thought of someone opening the MM code and applying some intelligently designed algorithms. I have the feeling the MM process is one of those bits of code every developer dreads being asked to look at. Every mature application has one, something dragged from a past incantation, written in some obscure arcane ancient version of the language that nobody really understands anymore, as the original dev left the organisation, was retired or sent to a mental institution. The original design lost through the ages or the code so chopped and changed that it bears no resemblance to what is there now. Everyone thinks they know how it works, but no one is sure. But everyone knows that if you change one thing, simple as it may be, you know something unexpected will break or occur. For me it was WM10 - The Forklift Truck Driver UI and control process. Over a thousand pages when printed out, of insane gibberish which by some miracle worked, but full of comments like, if processing gets here something went wrong. I have cold sweats and nightmares still thinking about it

3-5-7 from wot is coming to wows

Sounds like a reasonable solution, now let me put my 25 years of IT dev hat on ... Constantly analysing the entire queue and calculating avg's won't work, it's just too CPU intensive. The MM is basically a high volume transaction processing system, like a ticketing system for a big airline for example. What it does is look at everyone who joined the queue at the same time and applies it's rules in an effort to make a reasonable match in terms of balance and tier spread. But it all depends on what is in the queue at any given time.(class and tier), and if anyone has exceeded the allowed waiting time in queue, when it has to go into a sort of panic mode and throw a match together to get them in a battle ASAP. I agree with you that the MM is the best it has been for a long time. I'd love to see the MM reversed to build from the bottom up. Historically it built from T10 down as there were so few T10's in the queue and waiting times could be high. That's not the case now, but there are other things that could be done as well to improve the MM, like a dynamic wait time before the MM goes into panic mode for a long queue waiting player, longer at off peak times, and maybe class dependent. The port UI could even have the current average MM queue time for the class/tier of ship you currently have selected. You choose something with a long current wait time, that's YOUR choice, don't want to wait that long, then choose another class. And there is alot that could be done to balance divs which seem to throw the MM out quite a bit.
