This whole hacking thing really gets old.
Fat_Maniac replied to Jethro_Grey's topic in General Discussion
When this happens too me ... ... ^THIS^ is what I think Certainly does seem to be more cheating claims, and a bit more exotic use of language doubting parentage and suggesting new ways to have sex etc. WG have allowed this to develop by letting people start playing in high tier before they are ready. I also think there is a large wave of frustration being vented at the current meta and general state of the game, by people who have invested money and are not getting the results they expected or finding the boat they have bought doesn't fit the playstyle they are trying to play. There is an awful lot of one playstyle fits all mentality being played by the uninformed. -
What WG EU can learn from WG NA or how to do compensation right

What WG EU can learn from WG NA or how to do compensation right
Fat_Maniac replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Agreed it can. Is it good practice to do so ... From a Customer point of view - NO. You are making me look for and take an action in order to receive compensation. From a business point of view - YES. You set it up so people have to claim the compensation, in full knowledge that not everyone eligible will collect it. From a customer looking in at that, that makes me think WG as a business don't really care about the customer. You accept you have to compensate because of an issue out of your control, but you want to do it at minimum cost to you. Every premium day a customer is entitled too but doesn't claim, is simply an opportunity for that person to buy premium days. You yourself talk about buying a weekend pass. So I'm now thinking damn we have to give compensation because the data centre screwed up, can't let it affect revenues (weekend passes) too much. Ok make them claim the compensation, some will miss it and still buy the weekend passes. -
What WG EU can learn from WG NA or how to do compensation right
Fat_Maniac replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Thank you for the quick response. Your answer then begs the next logical question, and the point the original OP was really trying to make, and please I'm not having a go in asking it. If WG know who the players were in the date range eligible for compensation, why not in future simply automatically compensate them, with a container holding the premium day, they could then activate it at a time convenient to them, and an email to the account holder could explain it. Cleary a process exists within the WG estate to do this, why not use it for all customers. From a customer perspective this would look like really good customer service, as I have to do nothing for a problem which was not of my own making. -
What WG EU can learn from WG NA or how to do compensation right
Fat_Maniac replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
I understand the logic surrounding the methodology you use. However it is flawed. There will be a group of players who seeing that the server cluster is down via a forum status message etc, decide not to try to attempt to play WoWS for the rest of that day or for several hours to ensure things have settled down. Based on what you have said, they are not entitled to compensation. -
Oh they could. Imagine, WG setting up a mode where you pay (gold or in game resource), to play on a new map, with an in built XP/credit multiplier, or pay to guarantee you play on a particular map that you like and is suited to the ship you like playing. It would be another new low, but right now I put nothing past the bean counters at WG.

As said it depends on the event. Most just want you to watch the stream for an amount of time. You will get a notification to say you are now eligible for a given prize/ you go to your drops page on Twitch. If you don't see prizes ready to be collected, refresh the page (F5) and then collect your rewards. At some point after they will be credited to your WoWS account and found in game. there have been issues recently with drops not arriving for a while e.g I claimed 2 rewards from Thursdays stream but they didn't arrive until this morning. It seems to be a regular issue atm, as you will see from the threads created on the subject.

I understand the logic you give, but I can't help think there will be some monetisation along the way. given recent new features we have had. Are denotations still going to be covered by this system? Having to play missions to get the 10 flags to stop you detonating, seems like a catch 22. Detonate, now play missions with a chance of detonating during them to earn flags to stop you detonating. The stock answer always given to stop detonation in the past, has been mount the flags awarded. That doesn't look like its going to be the case any longer. -
Thats my problem. I don't have the right DD's
-
Oofff! Bottom tier DD, in a T9 game with CV. I thought it was just me that got that all the time. Get it a lot with cruisers too, where I can here the virtual red team seagull cries of Mine! Mine! Mine! Poop like that is why I've fallen back to doing co-op, or playing Ops. Only way I can tolerate randoms now is if I div up, at least I have some support and consistency then, which helps when the MM throws this at you.

Unfortunately WG just see low tiers as the training ground these days, although given the way they have dumbed everything down, I'm not sure exactly what it is they want you to learn, except maybe open your wallet for high tier "fun".

Don't think you are a child crying at all. i was trying to be ironic. I know and experience exactly what you are feeling as a commander of a clan myself. So many players 'feel' WoWS is asking for more and more of their game time and ever increasing amounts of their gaming budget, and frankly a fair few of my community members are just burned out with WoWS at the moment especially with campy meta and dead eye fiasco. So much of WoWS now feels like grind faster, it's gonna disappear soon, or just pay us now comrade and you don't have to grind. I keep telling all my members just play what you like, forget the grinds unless it's something that really interests you, just play for fun. But with so much constant pay to progress in the game it's not a truly relaxing experience.- 82 replies

Ermm No. Just No. It takes skill to be able to work your way in and make the most of 2ndrys. As for indirect player-to-player interaction, you do know there is a huge element of randomness in your 'aimed' shot actually hitting the target. It's called dispersion.

Indeed. Step1 - Make a problem. Step 2 - Sell them a solution.

Fat_Maniac replied to Graeme17O1's topic in General Discussion
Don't worry we do, and I only ever play what I want too. I never feel compelled to opt in to the multitude of grinds we get offered. That's the whole point I was trying to make though, so many players do feel compelled, WG market everything aimed at those players. We only have to look at the number of containers they sell, and the constant stream of complaints we see about poor rewards, to see so many impulsive/compulsive players around.- 82 replies

People have real lives, and I have always said to my clan members real life must always take precedent over anything we try to do in clan. Players also have a finite amount of time they want to play WoWS. It used to be that we had a single event running at any one time, a ranked season was followed by a clan battles season, rinse and repeat. Players could easily choose what they wanted to play, the event mode (ranked or CB) or just do some randoms or operations etc to grind a line. Now players have ranked and CB running at the same time, along with other time gated events and releases. WG say it's giving players choice and variety. The truth is, it's WG just maximising their income trying to have as many revenue streams going as possible, where you can grind your way, pay your way, or a combination of both. WG are very good at time gating events and making players feel like they have to spend, and once you have spent you then feel compelled to complete the event or have wasted money in starting As a commander I run a relaxed clan and I have always and will always say WoWS is just a video game we play for fun, choose what you want to play and when. We don't dictate you must turn up on day x and play mode Y for z amount of time. This is a game not real life, people have far too much sh!t like that for work etc. We used to look forward to CB seasons, but now WoWS wants us to play all the time and people simply don't have the hours or inclination to commit. What precious time they have, they want to have fun, not feel compelled to grind or spend. WoWS is not and can never be an esport, there is too much rngesus. Competitive clans can go plan and dictate play hours etc, but at the end of the day, progress in the chosen comp has as much to do with luck as skill these days. Along with a good dose of having bought the current seemingly OP ship that is a must to progress in the comp.- 82 replies

Fat_Maniac replied to Graeme17O1's topic in General Discussion
Speaking as a clan commander myself, No. It's more like, a group of friends walking past a restaurant on a daily basis. Every time you do, there is a free all you can eat buffet on the go for groups of 6, tempting you in. One day it's Chinese the next Indian, then Thai etc . Every time you pass some people are hungry for that food and want to eat, others are full and don't or don't like that style. So you end up never quite being able to get the 6 together, because the food is on offer so often that either nobody is hungry or looking forward to the next event.- 82 replies
