Napoli, Yoshino, Marceau: what to get for coal?

Fun? Marceau. Easy to play? Yoshino, probably, as long as you don't go around flashing your citadel like a perv Napoli only works in specific circumstances, which aren't going to happen in every T10 match. Basically, if the enemy team has a radar, a good torpedoboat or just 3+ ships with good damage output in front of you, you shouldn't try to go for that smoke+secondaries+torps drive-by, but without that she's a mediocre T10 CA. I'm really struggling with her despite a full 21-point build, while the Marceau was a blast from the start You'd think she'd be a beast in close quarters, but for instance so is the Salem against many targets, due to her DPM, armor and heal.

Napoli, Yoshino, Marceau: what to get for coal?

I disagree with you there. The Napoli has: - terrible AA, especially the range - no vision consumable (radar or hydro) - bad DPM She's optimized for close quarters, where she can easily do 20-40k with her secondaries in one skirmish, but the lack of hydro hurts her. In terms of multi-purposeness, I think something like Plymouth (short range specialist: smoke+radar+hydro+torps) or Alexander Nevsky (long range specialist: ballistics+AA+radar, but also torps in the late game) are clearly the way to go. Des Moines as well (DPM+AA+vision+armor, sort of...). The Napoli is fun, but not versatile at all imho.

What to do with beginners and bad players

    1) Make Co-Op profitable, even at high tiers 2) Add high tier Operations, where bad players (with a minimum of map awareness, or just decent memory from playing the same Op over and over) can still win and have fun. Right now, bad players who just want to sail the Yamato in a videogame are pretty much forced into Randoms because grinding the Izumo in Co-Op takes forever (and doesn't pay for itself). Instead of restricting access to Randoms, or Ranked as it is often proposed, I say make the alternatives more attractive. Not more attractive than Randoms, but more attractive than they are right now. I think that would reduce the amount of frustration considerably for all players: good, bad or average. Trolls gotta troll, but I suspect most high tier players with 40-45% WR are there simply because the alternatives are unappealing, not because they like having a go at 12 opponents in most cases better than them.

    First Khaba, then GK...........Next Mogami?

    1) 203mm Mogami makes a lot more sense in the flow of the tech tree line, as that's the gun caliber from the Furutaka on to the Zao. 2) If you take IFHE on the 155s, you'd probably swap it out on the Ibuki, so there's some captain respeccing involved: it's more economical to use the alternative cruiser build of a different captain, e.g. your Yamato or Kagero captain, free of charge because the 155 option would be a premium. 3) Honestly, how can you be so sure 155-Mogami is better than 203-Mogami? You're still at the Aoba, and you're not exactly doing well with her. We're not just talking about Co-Op here...

    First Khaba, then GK...........Next Mogami?

Hmmm...what ? 1) coal is F2P: you can't just buy it for real money 2) plenty of players already own these ships, so the only thing they're going to get from the change, from what I gather, is a free T10 permacamo (or T8, I suppose, if it happened to the Mogami) 3) if they don't own them, researching the GK with FXP is cheaper than getting a T9 premium (e.g. the Azuma) 4) FXP is also F2P 5) the Alexander Nevsky, which replaced the Moskva as the tech tree T10, is a ton of fun, so I have no objection there anyway.

    Kurfurst gets removed

I used to, but then I tried tank after the February rework, and reload recently after watching a PQ video.

    Chances of fire

8.5% * 0.43 (ship coefficient) * 0.9 (Fire Prevention) * 0.95 (Dmg Con Mod 1) * 328 = 10.25 fires Assuming some shells fell on parts already on fire (especially the superstructure, the first thing one hits), that 7 number makes sense.

Is Close Quarters Worth it for C.Colombo?

Fires damage you for a percentage of the ship's HP, not an absolute value: as long as the duration is the same, they're equally dangerous to all BBs. Therefore, there are 3 ways to do well against fires: 1) reduce their amount and duration 2) have an improved/super heal 3) being so good against other types of damage that you can afford some fires, especially if you get something out of them

Is Close Quarters Worth it for C.Colombo?

    1) she's got good deck armor against low caliber HE 2) she's got good armor against citadel hits 3) she's got decent torpedo protection 4) she's got a good upper belt to bounce AP and shatter up to cruiser HE I'm suggesting to exploit the fact that fires are basically all that's left, so you don't really have to build for fire resistance, especially if you play her at range for the first part of the game. You can pretty much let all single/double fires burn, taking advantage of the improved reload (from Furious and AR), and heal them back. The idea is that you can dmgcon when you feel like it, but if they permafire you at least you'll get something out of it. As for 3 point skills, I'd actually take another 1 pointer (Gun Feeder with Sansonetti, after Preventative Maintenance) and another 2 pointer (Vigilance, after Grease the Gears). You can of course take BoS, but it goes against the spirit of turning those fires into an advantage.

    Kurfurst gets removed

I do, of course, but if she were premium I'd be able to swap to a secondary captain whenever I felt like it. All that's needed is the module in slot #3, and that's cheap.

    Kurfurst gets removed

Ngl, I'd play the hell out of a premium République
  12. Triple Halland div, while we were permaspotted and permatorped. We lost 6-1 on ships or something like that. Stupid trolls...

    Kurfurst gets removed

Does this mean I get a free permacamo for the GK once she turns into a premium?

Is Close Quarters Worth it for C.Colombo?

Yes, that's my point: - the secondaries are still crap (so-so range, bad accuracy, horrible pen values) - the main guns would get better reload only in rare circumstances, when he's within 9.2 - 9.7 km of an enemy - fires are just a lot more common, and with the flag, plus ERE instead of FP, Furious gives you a nice gunnery advantage at all ranges

    Division Matchmaking in Randoms

I think the OP has a point that divisions, whether of good players or bad players (they generally stick with one another), effectively rig Random matchmaking. I mean, how can it be "random" if you're guaranteed to have those other players on your side? However, the point of divisioning, to me at least, is not to soothe one's ego by winning more often, but rather sociability: one plays with friends or family members to enjoy their company. Removing it would be anti-social. Because both aspects are worth preserving, I'm in favor of the matchmaker balancing not the number of divisions on the teams, which can be of grossly different quality, but the overall quality of the teams, to some extent: let's say, the average WR can't differ by more than 3-4 points. I think that would be a good compromise between fairness and sociability. Cheers

Is Close Quarters Worth it for C.Colombo?

Imho no, unless you plan to brawl a lot (and possibly take the secondary module in slot #3 as well). It's a 7 points investment to get slightly better secondaries, which still don't pen much, and better reload only in very few circumstances. I'd rather go for Furious, which also gives a gunnery bonus, but one that activates much more often (and at any range). Pair it with Emergency Repair Expert (and possibly the healing flag), and of course Adrenaline Rush, and you've got yourself a ship that: - has great armor - actually gets better when she's on fire - will repair those fires easily, a bit like the Conqueror

    Good-bye Khabarovsk, Hello Delny

Plus the Legendary Module was locked behind a massive RB paywall I honestly struggle to point to a less inspiring tech tree T10. The Audacious seems "meh", but at least you can go for a stealth build and cosplay as an actual fleet carrier, concealment < 10 km...

    Good-bye Khabarovsk, Hello Delny

Please try to keep up: announcement: Khaba for coal, new T10 in her place me: who would want to spend (180-250k) coal for such a crappy ship? here's 3 ways she sucks you: she's an insane dodge-tank me: no she's not, still not worth the coal you: who said anything about coal? why do you hate the ship? So once again: 1) the Khaba being unattractive for as a coal ship is my whole point 2) I gave you three reasons I hate the ship (range, rudder, concealment) Cheers
  19. "Damage to ships" "Airplanes" "Bombs" Poor guy, I had to apologize in chat

    Good-bye Khabarovsk, Hello Delny

Even with double rudder your rudder is awful. Even with AFT you range is awful. As you take both anyway to make the ship tolerable, you're going to have crap concealment, so your enemies will be less likely to be DDs and cruisers, against whom the 50 mm plating does something, and more likely to be BBs or CVs, against whom it does nothing. I just don't see how she can have any attractiveness for coal unless she's given a buff, that's all.
  21. tocqueville8

    Good-bye Khabarovsk, Hello Delny

    1) I said the Khaba is crappy 2) you said she's great at something 3) I said she's still worse at that something than the T9 (a double rudder Khaba has slower rudder than a rudder+concealment Tashkent), so to go back to my question: why would anyone spend 240k coal on her?
  22. tocqueville8

    Good-bye Khabarovsk, Hello Delny

How is she a better dodge-tank than the Tashkent, which has better rudder and better concealment, in case she needs to go undetected?
  23. tocqueville8

    Good-bye Khabarovsk, Hello Delny

I'm still not sure what the point of the Khaba is: range, rudder and concealment are all crap, who would want her for coal?

    OMG, another auction coming up.......

Not sure why some yet-to-be-specified offer is already a "money grab". Every time a company introduces a new product or service, or announces a sale, that's a money grab? Last auction, I simply exchanged a bunch of credits for a bunch of coal. Free of charge. We don't even know what this new feature is going to be, but I'm pretty sure they're not going to "kidnap" my premiums and ask for a ransom in doubloons, so if I don't like what's on offer, why should I care?

    Camo rework announced

Imho that's a good change: any other economic signal is better, and most combat ones, too.
