WarGaming is alering player stats.

I can't take anyone seriously if they write like that. I don't even have to read the rest of it. -
Sherman has SAP, which is quite insane against cruisers and some BBs with weak upper belts. A great ship to proc Halsey's talent (Confederate achievement). Atlântico seems very nice: Ohio-like turret traverse, Schlieffen's near-stealth secondaries, and the big ones pen 59 mm, more than the deck of a Yamato... It's not recent, but I always feel I must recommend the Colbert, my most-played ship: nearly 40 knots without the flag, insane DPM, unique looks, built in real life.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Yup, I Dev Struck both the Belfast and the Florida, but the rest of the team... Those were some very clever torps btw: I thought it was the sub who was spotting me, so I gave some side to bait the homing, but you outplayed me -

I decided to dust off some of the mid-tier premium BBs: The Hyuga reminds me of the Wyoming: I really should play her more often... -

Tbh I was too busy trying to survive to notice what you were doing. I did 170k and we absorbed their push, but way too far from the cap. Annapolis and GK just fed their Sherman and we were left with no map control whatsoever Anyway, I gave you both a +1 -

I saw @MacArthur92 and @HMS_Kilinowski on Greece (B div). Unfortunately, while I kited half the enemy team on A, most of ours couldn't overcome a couple of superunicum rerolls on the other flank, and we lost miserably on caps & points I guess not all Shermans are created equal -
So...after buying Congress, Borodino, Cossack, Atago, Alabama, Mainz, Verdi, Bagration, Hornet, Warspite, Roma, DoY...you also decided you needed to buy the knowledge to play them? Good for you, honestly

As I understand, the map border cancels your velocity perpendicular to it, leaving only the parallel component. I guess the secondary gunners don't react to it, instead they shoot as though you were travelling normally, so in front of you.

Ranked MM: Time to balance supercruisers
tocqueville8 replied to SodaBubbles's topic in General Discussion
Imho it's down to perspective: Alaska and Siegfried are better for pushing, and if they force a turn they'll just citadel their opponents, but Buffalo and Seattle can be nasty kiters. Their DPM is just much higher, even despite the issues with HE penetration. I've played my fair share of Alaska games in Ranked, but also Colbert, the lightest of light cruisers, and she's decent, as well. -
Is Slava worth 63.000 research points?
tocqueville8 replied to Puffin_'s topic in General Discussion
Only in comparison to other BBs. The horizontal dispersion in this game goes something like A * distance + B, where A and B are parameters that are somewhat constant along the same ship line, but have exceptions for premiums, battlecruisers, etc. For instance: German, French, British, Italian and American BBs have about the same A and B the Japanese have larger B, so a bigger dispersion at point-blank range (where distance = 0), but smaller A, so it grows more slowly with increasing distance the Soviet tech tree BB line is the reverse (small B, large A), so it's optimized for brawling the Slava is an extreme version of what IJN BBs have: the largest B parameter, the smallest A parameter As I understand, the vertical dispersion formulas haven't been made public by WG, but the Slava is outstanding in that regard, as well. -
It should be 4 ships between subs and DDs.

Full tank. If you're in really close quarters the secondaries are going to do decent damage anyway (even with no IFHE, the small ones pen the bow of Tier 6-7 BBs, the big ones pen the bow of Tier 8-10 BBs, as well), plus you have the torps. Also, you don't want to be pushing early with that crap AA she's got, way worse than her sister's. On the other hand, the guns are reasonably accurate, she's stealthy and fast and has strong armor overall (except against AP dive bombers), so patience pays off imho.

People, please. I hate this mechanic, too, but as long as it's here be kind enough to your teammates to wear the appropriate flag, at least in Ranked. Otherwise you're just griefing your teammates Here I had the dubious honour of detonating two DDs in a row, resulting in one of the least-deserved Ranked wins I've ever had: I know they're expensive and the "achievement" doesn't award them anymore, but just buy them. Play a premium DD to cover the expense, if you have to, or play a different class. End of rant.
-
It might work if the guy smokes up and doing so blinds his teammates, as well. Otherwise it's better to wait for a radar cruiser to light them up, farming them from your own smoke. Or bait them into a knife-fight after their smoke dissipated, as long as you have external spotting, and smoke up then. I think that in Ranked most people are going to be paying attention, so less chance to pick up one of these kills "for free". And with no smoke you're a sitting duck for any CV...
-
For my part, I tried a smoke Chung Mu in Bronze and did alright (4 out of 4, I think). I swapped the two torpedo modules for guns but still landed several hits thanks to the consumable. I mean...it's just 20 extra torps per game unless one takes Superintendent, which isn't a great investment when you have 5 smokes to begin with, but it's a welcome buff
-
That module is a bad deal: it makes your guns and torps much more fragile and only removes 2/3s of detonations. Some deto flags come in crates, others can be bought for about 50/75k each with the coupons. That should be enough to stock them up for Ranked. Worst-case scenario, buy them for 100k credits, or just play a different class...
-
That's what I mean. They are temporary (one use only) and cheap, about 4 times less expensive than a detonation flag. And no one is "despising" anyone: I'm just saying it's inconsiderate.
-
E-very-body has temporary camos. If you run out, buy the cheap ones. So buy them like I do. DD detonations are pretty common, if they get shot at a little bit. I use them if I put a bunch of dragon flags on for grinding, yes. It's like buying insurance. But I also use them in Ranked: it's just a sound choice (fewer players per team, so I'm more important) and a polite one.
-
I don't go "fully flagged", either, but detonation flags on DDs are just the decent thing to do, imho. Heal and fire duration, maybe ramming flags on BBs and some cruisers are recommended, but you're not risking disaster by not equipping them.

Took me a while to get used to the Alaska again, but then...ka-ching! -
The trouble with Soviet CVs in Ranked is that people tend to play them nose-in near islands and caps, but that allows DDs, some cruisers and German battlecruisers to rush them with torps. Over a few matches tonight, I've seen: a Paolo Emilio successfully accomplish two such rushes a Pommern successfully jousting another Pommern and a Musashi (who collided...) a Siegfried ramming a Pommern after landing a couple of torps. Even if you sink the guy who rushes you, a trade isn't the way to go, on average, if you want to rank out quickly: you want to do better than that. As for those lines, I'm not sure I'd take a Donskoi: I think she requires some space to use her range and ballistics, let alone huge turning radius, but these mid-tier maps don't offer a lot of room. Something like the Buffalo, with much better handling, floatier shells to lob over islands, and 27 instead of 25 mm armor plating, would probably be a better choice. Riga is fine, imho: turns badly still, but she can be played more static and hit people hard with AP. She's also tankier than Donskoi: 35 mm deck and upper belt will even shatter standard heavy cruiser HE shells.

How many ships lines you still have to grind (new and neglected / forgotten ones)?
tocqueville8 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Ita DDs: still at the Aviere. Pan Asian CLs: Sejong. German BCs: Zieten. Soviet CVs: Serov, and hardly made any progress because I find the whole line...unethical. The rest are either in port or being regrinded.
