Battle Matchmaker for my Account is a Horror. From Winning 57% to loosing 99%!!!
tocqueville8 replied to Doubleclick001's topic in Current Update
You went from playing bots in Coop to playing real people in Randoms. If you intend to continue, please play the Kaiser and other Tier 4 ships (Clemson, Kuma, etc.) until you get the hang of it. You'll be facing Tier 5 opponents at most. And for the love of God, don't touch your Iwami until you've become comfortable at least at Tier 7. -
I'm fine with Arms Race, but I wish its damage records wouldn't count, as they're clearly inflated. I also didn't mind Epicenter, to be honest: my main complaints are Cyclones.

Anniversary super container haul
tocqueville8 replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
Avoiding the Coop grind for a bunch of forgotten Tier 5 tech-tree botes is definitely a boon. -
If we went for historical accuracy, the KGV should be very well protected, but in this game she's basically made of butter I was thinking about a different flavor to make the Washington appealing as a premium: anti-DD and anti-sub, and with good AA because if you play around the caps you're going to be a CV magnet. Brawling is for the Massa.

To be fair, if that were the case we'd also have HMS Valiant, Barham, Prince of Wales, etc. I've got nothing against it: I'm just saying the backlog is long. 8 km is very short and kind of useless. But maybe a cap-supporting flavor could be interesting: 9.5 km radar (same as Missouri), strong ASW, good AA, good torpedo protection, but slow gun reload, only 1.8 sigma (with no accuracy module, as usual) and one less heal, or something like that.

Anniversary super container haul
tocqueville8 replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
Blyskawica, Gallant and Aigle are all nice: I'd get them anyway. Anshan is a bit meh: good armament, but the turret traverse is tragic. Okt Rev is fugly, but good. Kirov is made of citadels, but she has railguns. Marblehead (x2) appears to be a sidegrade Omaha, which is a ton of fun imho. The Hill is probably alright, too, but I find it weird to get a Tier 5 paper ship. The Rio de Janeiro is not on the SC drop list I'm seeing, so maybe she's "safe". -

And superships. EDIT: though to be honest, if one doesn't care for them, buying back a bunch of mid-tier tech-tree ships for the economic bonuses might be a better deal. -

tocqueville8 replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
@Leo_Apollo11 are you going to collect data from SCs or other stuff, as you sometimes do? I was thinking of holding on to all the Anniversary rewards (and all the crates from the new missions, etc.) and opening everything at once a bit later, but then the SCs would get mixed with the rest... There's no pressure to do anything: just let me know if I should save some data -

I like mine, but like all T7 CLs she got shafted in the IFHE rework. She has a heal, a spotter and good agility to be all over the place. Just don't try too hard to use all the guns: one of the turrets has really bad angles -
Pan Asian Cruisers, horrific grind!
tocqueville8 replied to Praetorias's topic in General Discussion
You get more torps at Tier 8, and better ballistics, too. Then the heal at Tier 9 (obviously). They're quite bad in open maps, but that's also true of USN and British CLs tbh. You pretty much need to make sure you have spotting, grab as much map as you can, and then be a pain to dislodge for as long as possible. It might be the only line where Torpedo Lookout System actually makes some sense, especially against fellow Pan Asian ships. Honestly, the Jinan seems alright but I moved on to other (re)grinds almost as soon as I got her. -
Will not play a broken game
tocqueville8 replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
Doesn't it mean that any aiming correction in the last second (or so) is void? You go for the citadel. The guy starts turning just before you finish reloading. You aim higher to at least hit the superstructure...but you don't track his movements for the whole delay (even just one second is a lot, when all you need is a small adjustment and your target turns at several degrees per second), so you shoot on the hull and only get some bounces. The salvo is ruined, now wait another 30 seconds. The previous "railgun" bug was weird and, I'm assuming (I never tried to replicate it), difficult to abuse in the middle of the game. But this can affect every single salvo you shoot, especially at some range -

I wonder which classes aren't affected by this... -

This explains how I could miss a broadside Kleber at 5 km Flamu exaggerates the "jerking" for clarity, but this bug has huge implications even for small aiming corrections, the kind that should make you hit the waterline (citadels) instead of splashing short. See: https://www.reddit.com/r/WorldOfWarships/comments/xf2x33/i_hate_this_bug_so_much_it_has_caused_me_so_much/ That's not dispersion. Well, not entirely. Notice the minimap circle: the St Vincent player raised his aim before shooting, but it clearly didn't register, it wasn't updated in time. That's not a "quickshot": the adjustment is small, but decisive. This is the worst bug since the "Coriolis torpedoes" a year ago.- 67 replies

1) I don't switch flanks unless we're clearly winning ours, and I prefer to go middle early to cut off the enemy retreat. 2) What I often do early on, however, is going middle to set up a crossfire if I see that the other BBs (the ones that spawned middle) are making a beeline to my flank, and I'd be redundant there. I usually tell them "go back", "stay middle for crossfire", but most people don't speak English or read chat, apparently
-
I have the same problem, since a few days. It's not lag: the ping is fine and I never disconnect. It's just some "stuttering" that lasts a couple of seconds at most, but enough to make me miss some salvoes. The chat doesn't register any input either, during those moments. Unplayable? No. Annoying? Yes.

I don't see how: the stealth window is only 2 km vs 3.5 on the Jinan your torpedo alpha is 475k, compared to 716k for the Jinan (using TRB after dropping from both sides) your launch angles are a lot worse your reload is a lot worse you don't have a smoke to help play around the caps, from where your torps have a better chance of being in range of the enemy I mean...one can try anything for the memes, but this looks very suboptimal.
-
You don't play IJN CAs for the torps: you might get to use them in close quarters, but they're basically just for kiting. The Jinan on the other hand can almost play as a DD sometimes: the stealth-torp window is huge and she can put a lot more fish in the water. The smoke and slow shells also encourage you to play her closer to the caps, where her targets are also going to be in range for the torps.

First and hopefully only ever game with 3 subs -
It's one of the most pleasant lines to regrind imho: Indeed, the number of regrinds is testament to the fact I don't like the Zao either: bad turret angles, bad traverse, and even the torpedo angles feel weird at that point.

Some advice regarding Raptor Rescue
tocqueville8 replied to Captain_82's topic in General Discussion
I don't really like this system then: it makes losses a complete waste of time, and they're much more common than in the past. I had a game on The Ultimate Frontier where the entire team got sunk, but not by much, and we obviously failed all the tasks. I did over 250k but I only made 400 xp or so, and that was the highest of anyone on the team. It's just not competitive compared to Randoms: for a similar effort, I reckon I would've gotten about 1000.- 11 replies

Overview of the New British Battleships
tocqueville8 replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
This line has considerably tighter dispersion, at the same range, than their BBs counterparts. While I've only played Renown and Rooke for fewer than 10 games combined, the accuracy has never been an issue, in fact I'm quite satisfied: the sigma might be poor, but the grouping is actually pretty good. In fact, so far I've used AP almost exclusively, as I could hit the intended area reliably enough. -

Ranked Gold: went from Regolo to Smaland to the usual Colbert First outing and...who would've though the old man had so much blood in him? Second outing...and a strong showing in a very close game It came down to a 1v1 with the enemy Schlieffen, but not really: we were ahead on points, down one cap, so I was going to flip one, but RPF told me she was going to ambush me instead of flipping yours, so I just ran like hell instead. "Crutch skill" my a** (it also feels nice to outperform a superunicum in the same ship, every now and then...) EDIT: Also a good one a few days ago: -
What is your experience with "Cherry Blossom" and "Hermes" operations? Do you think they are (unfortunately and sadly) too hard for teams of random players?
tocqueville8 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
It's especially weird the first few times, as the bots keep moving "like bots", on scripted paths: it's just the way the shoot and focus that's much better organized...
