No, they didn't. It's still 1000 steel + 800 dubs + some economic boosters + camos. The rewards for Rank 1 are the usual 200 steel + 1 gold container + 1 token. They simply added some RB points (you know you can buy flags with them?) for people who keep playing but don't reach Rank 1: if you never lose a star you won't have time to collect those RB points, you'll rank out earlier.

It's the opposite. Individual WR means little in Clan Battles because you're picking your own team, for good or ill. In Randoms, you can still pick 2 teammates if you division. Ranked WR is a better measure of your skill, as long as you're playing a variety of ships.

Which is the best secondary ship now in 2023?
tocqueville8 replied to Siagor's topic in General Discussion
The short answer is probably Agincourt. She has absurd DPM, improved dispersion and good stock penetration. If you take IFHE, her 76s will pen the superstructures and her 152s the extremities of Tier 7 BBs: more than that it would be unreasonable to demand. I once had this game with her: Other good picks, in order of tier, are: Mutsu - highest hitting DPM at Tier 6 by a wide margin, even the small ones will pen 26 mm with IFHE Renown '44 - highest hitting DPM at Tier 7, though the range is so-so; stock penetration is only 19 mm, but the ship also has a speed boost, hydro and torps for close-range antics... Atlantico - along with her 127s, she has 8x2 234 mm secondaries, large enough to pen the deck armor of a Yamato. Range and concealment are good, but she's slow. Massachussetts - improved dispersion, high hitting DPM Odin - great range/concealment, good dispersion, excellent base penetration Iwami - so-so range, but improved dispersion and HE pen (37 mm with IFHE) Giuseppe Verdi - same range/concealment issue, but she has a full-speed smoke to get close safely, plus they fire SAP like Napoli's Rupprecht and Schlieffen - excellent range/concealment, improved dispersion, absurd volume of shells, good HE pen to begin with Gneisenau to Preussen/GK - good range, good volume of shells, good/great penetration to begin with (good for Bismarck, FdG & Pommern, great for the others) -
With no HE, horrible firing angles and being 25% slower most of the game?

I have all the RB ships, which I got in this order: Paolo Emilio > Colbert > Druid > Ohio > Vampire 2 > Slava > Siegfried > Gibraltar > Sevastopol > Hector A reasonable measure of how much I've enjoyed them is the average number of battles I've played per month in each of them, since buying them: Colbert (43) > Slava (38.5) > Ohio (19.6) > Gibraltar (18.7) > Hector (18) > Druid (13.5) > Sevastopol (11) > Vampire 2 (9.3) > Paolo Emilio (6.7) > Siegfried (6.5) This includes Randoms & Ranked, but not Dirigible Derbys or Grand Battles. Keep in mind though: Hector and Sevastopol are very new, so I played them often for a few days and then basically stopped. TL; DR: Colbert is the most fun imho.

Upcoming ranked and Submarine BS XP Booster?
tocqueville8 replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
Pretty sure we've had subs in Ranked before, though I only remember them in Tier 6 bronze for some reason Then again, they were mostly noobs and the xp modifier didn't matter... -
Adriatico and Regolo get more and longer-lasting consumables iirc (at least the smokes, for sure), so they can farm quite nicely, provided 1) you're not being radared, 2) you have spotting.

What Voodoo magic ritual do YOU use when trying to make maximum splits with say Haku torps?
tocqueville8 replied to TheNubination's topic in General Discussion
Oh, that. Just drop as soon as soon as you can, with the reticle wide open? -

tocqueville8 replied to TheNubination's topic in General Discussion
Nothing to do with how early you start the run, or whether you make small adjustments, or anything else? It's very pronounced when it happens... -

tocqueville8 replied to TheNubination's topic in General Discussion
It's when the two torps have a ridiculously small spread between them, so tight a DD can barely fit in. I too have wondered... -
New day, new bizarre concept from WG (dev blog - new EU dd line)

Great for resetting caps, I suppose. -
Huh?

Back in Gold, and somehow I managed to carry this one. After an excellent start, with 35k dmg to DDs courtesy of the YY's smoke, we managed to squander a 4v2 advantage into a 1v2, but Ohio and Napoli didn't offer much resistance EDIT: video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZB45iZoHIs -

I'd play passive too, with a 22% WR Yueyang on my flank -
Sure, but I meant buying the Shima in order to play her, otherwise for the OP it's 3 months without his only Tier 10 DD.

Lost on points with the VdT on like 5k hp... I should've reset him early, but I was low myself and afraid to open up

I know it's only Tier 5, but this was a great comeback Our Bayern was very inexperienced, but he did a great job kiting when I asked him to, in order to absorb the enemy push along the eastern corridor. Survived the rest of the match with the sub after him and even got him in the end The enemy Okt Rev was also a newbie, but played really smart as far as I can tell: had the Bayern and I both made a slight mistake, he would've gotten us both and won, so another +1 to him (though I addressed him as an "Izmail" in port ) -
Dov Bleg #443 USS Oregon '65 introduced for testing. Based on a Yamato-class hull (the USN could've re-floated the IJN behemoth in 1946...), refitted with a flight deck and an air wing out of the Vietnam era, she stands at the pinnacle of the new hybrid branch. Easter egg: a recovered Gemini capsule parked near the B turret. After "combat instructions" have been activated ('F' key), for a period of 45 seconds any overpenetration by her 3x3 16.1'' guns is going to cause floodings, which people put out, allowing for an easy permafire (or three) by her tactical HE bombers (Grumman A-6 Intruders).

I'd get the Groningen: sure, she plays somewhat like the F. Sherman, but she faces fewer radars and really scary gunboats, plus the AA is better the main issue might be finding a good enough captain (certainly compared to Halsey after a Confederate...), but you don't exactly need a 21-pointer to make her work the F. Sherman is for coal: you have a lot more options there between Napoli, Kearsarge, Marceau, Tromp and Moskva, to name a few Azuma is nice but generic, Agir is perfect for brawling modes but you already have Pommern and Iwami...

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
tocqueville8 replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
It's not your fault: they had a sweaty tryhard div and we had 2 DDs that got 400 xp combined -
Yeah. On a similar note, yesterday I saw the classic "899 div" torturing some poor sap playing our Lexington, a 45% player who wasn't going to hurt anyone. They even got First Blood on him: I'm sure he had a fun & engaging experience. Just another div being toxic, frankly EDIT: why is everyone laughing? It wasn't funny

RB ships are just more expensive, both in time and resources: the Tier 9 ones need an average of 45.3k points, the Tier 10 ones 58.7k. That's the equivalent of 2.2 and 2.9 resets with the x2 bonus, which only renews every 3 months (it just did) assuming you only reset the cheapest line (Harugumo, 676k xp according to https://wowsft.com/research), a Tier 9 RB ship costs about 1.5M FXP, a Tier 10 about 2M (as much as Hayate, but you're not considering her) plus you need the credits to buy them, at least once plus you need to wait for the bonus to renew: at least 3 months for the next one, so that the two of them together, plus your current 21k points, would be barely enough even for the most expensive Tier 10 RB ships (Slava/Ohio). you don't have the Harugumo now: Shima's line is almost as cheap to FXP through, but then the choice is between accumulating RB points on it and claiming them in 3 months, giving up playing the Shima in the meantime, or buying at least the Shima each time, which is more expensive In terms of FXP ships: Groningen is very nice, at least judging by the Friesland, which I play regularly: one game today, top tier, stomped my way to an easy Kraken. The lack of torps is a curse sometimes, but the ship does fine against DDs (at least up to Tier 9 ones), BBs and even CVs (I mean in general: most want nothing to do with her). The Sherman is far superior against cruisers (SAP tears into their belt armor), but Tier 10 is a tougher environment. Azuma is a satisfying, relaxing long-range platform. Weak armor, but she gets an extra heal and half the cooldown on them, so she has good resilience. Agir has better armor, better AA, torps, better hydro, more HE pen (can damage a few more decks, like Yamato's), much lower HE damage. She's clearly better for pushing and brawling (and brawling-oriented game-modes), but performs worse in the long-range meta we often see at high tiers. They're all good credit earners and can win games (I had a 3k xp one in the Azuma today, after a few attempts...), but Groningen is the only one that stands out in terms of playstyle imho: there are other brawl-ish large cruisers in this game other than Agir, like Petro or Napoli, and a ton of kiters other than Azuma, like Henri IV, Goliath, Hindenburg, Marseille, etc. Meanwhile, RB ships tend to be more niche than their tech-tree or cheaper premium equivalents, but usually not stronger, at least in my hands. I play them a lot, they're fun and all, but they can be frustrating: Druid and Gibraltar have trouble defending, Slava is a punching bag for other BBs, Emilio gets c**kblocked by planes and hydro/radar...

Your only Tier 8 Ranked options are Cherbourg, Shokaku and GJ Maerker? That sounds awful I mean...Shokaku should be fine, but why not try your Pobeda? And maybe Hawke instead of Cherbourg?
