Of the two, clearly Salem: much higher DPM, improved AP angles and the extra radar range of the Moskva doesn't matter against bots. Iwami should be quite good in Coop...as long as DDs don't hog all your kills. She has good secondaries and powerful torps which the bots shouldn't try too hard to dodge. Khabarovsk is a strong pick for Coop: fast, good guns, very hard-hitting torps (2x5 x 19,500 dmg) A. de Bazan is a pleasant ship for Randoms, but the torpedo load is light and the burst fire imposes a long (around 25-30 seconds) cooldown before resuming, whether with single fire or the burst again: it's a great tool, at the right time, in Randoms, but it's not sustainable in Coop, unless the idea is to delete a broadside CL. Brisbane seems alright (lots of torps), but there's going to be some sort of campaign first.

Eventually we'll have posts that are all figures and no words. Like the Sistine Chapel.

Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.

Sailed forward, smoked up a CL, got a solo cap. Game Over. 5 1/2 minute game, less profitable than Coop -
To be 100% fair, the Alliance player was a superunicum (and not a CV superunicum...)...but yeah, what we see there is pure nonsense. It's frankly sad how in DD vs DD fights I usually say to myself "if I approach this the right way I'm pretty sure I can sink him and get away with it, or at least out-trade him for later", but in DD vs SS fights I go "nope nope nope" like that octopus in the gif. It doesn't help that I can home in on DDs with RPF and be pretty sure to get an engagement (favorable or not) within a certain amount of time, but RPF doesn't work on subs. Meanwhile, the white squiggle that appears on the surface when they ping doesn't even point to their actual location, it's just randomized in the general area: if they're pinging someone else while I go drop them, it might look like I'm on top of them but they're actually several DD lengths away from me. It's like punching the air

Tone, Ise and Kearsarge to get ASW planes? STONKS -
Can I please just get my Community Tokens already? I mean...what are we even going to test here? It's going to be 1v1 with an enemy sub (in another hour or so...), the rest of both teams is going to be bots.

A messy Bismarck game where I was part of a lemming train, turned back, turned forward, fat-fingered a useless heal, pushed into a crossfire...and yet somehow carried it. A bit of a comeback in the FdG, this time with a tank build -
can we have an explanation please WG

I think he was joking. -
Ranked queues are much longer than Randoms, despite the extra Community Tokens supposedly awarded for them. Tried thrice today, gave up each time.

The dispersion is way better on the Ragnar, but imho for DDs the main issue is the shell flight time, and hers is very similar to Kléber's. Again, Ragnar has much better accuracy, but the AP penetration is superior on the Kléber: she can citadel a broadside Mino at around 13 km, Ragnar only at 10 km or so. It's Elbing >>> Kléber > Tromp > Ragnar, basically. The Marceau is obviously nowhere near, on either metric.

Regrinded the Gneisenau and...well well well, whom do we have here? Why, it's Mr. Lutjens, the only legendary commander I was missing, ready to set sail on the Bismarck! -

Sansonetti is for every Italian line, really. -
And to get it twice, three times, etc. I mean...look at the Santa containers: the Mega ones had almost a 1/6 chance of dropping a ship if you opened, say, 24 of them (I dunno...12 free, 5 from the premium BP and the rest for dubs), your expected value was about 4 ships. the odds of getting at least one ship were 98.5%, but is that really the interesting bit? Is one and only one ship what you were after? You wouldn't care about the odds of getting 2, 3 or more? You wouldn't want a measure that put it all together? When a political party finds they're at 45% in the polls, do they conclude they'll get about 45% of the vote in the election, or do they just care about "the odds of getting at least one vote"?
-
"The chance to get at least one ship". Not the expected value. If you have two different probabilities to get one item, and you do one trial each, and they are independent, the expected value is still the sum of the two probabilities. See the spoiler for a simple example. A much more substantial objection, which you haven't come up with, would be that, since there are only 4 possible Pan Asian ships, I'm not authorized to include a 5th, 6th one etc. when weighting the probabilities, I should've included the credit compensation instead. THAT would've been a good and interesting point, yours isnt.
-
I corrected the mistake you noticed, but you're still not explaining where my math is wrong otherwise. It seems you just want to pretend that the "expectation" is not a rigorous mathematical concept, which is laughable. I gave you an example with 3 containers and included a detailed calculation. If you want a more general proof, see https://proofwiki.org/wiki/Expectation_of_Binomial_Distribution. This second one is literally "just adding the numbers", because that's how the expectations of independent trials work.
-
The result is the "expected value" of the distribution, meaning the weighted (by their probability) average of the outcomes (the number of ships you can get). See the spoiler for an example. You can say it gives less information than listing the probabilities, but I certainly wasn't going to do that for all the possible drops in the bundle chain, and calling it "wrong" doesn't explain anything.

I'd try it for the lulz but I'm in Gold Then again, she did fine the one time I sailed her on the Test Server...though there were a couple of bots per team -
Japanese CLs - do you EVER switch to AP?
tocqueville8 replied to GulvkluderGuld's topic in General Discussion
Still trying to wrap my head around the Yodo, but my answer is "occasionally": I did a 1v1 against a Zao at the end of a steamroll win, and yes I switched to AP as he showed side to drop torps: I got two citadels given I don't run IFHE, broadside BBs with 32 mm upper belts, like Yamato or French/British, can take good damge from AP -
The mistake is there and I fixed it, but I can indeed "just add the numbers", as long as I explain, as I have, that that's the expected value or mean of the distribution, not the "probability of getting a ship".
-
How so? I'll edit the spreadsheet if there's a mistake. EDIT: nvm, found one: it's 0.4% chance in the regular containers, not 4%. I'll edit it.
-
You'll forgive the clumsy picture (instead of a link): I'm not much of a spreadsheet user...

It should be 8981 dubs for the whole thing, FYI.
