Airdrop: no skill to use, no chance to defend.

Don't the planes spawn only 4 km away, nullifying long-range flak? I mean, most players have a (legitimately) hard time avoiding regular CV drops, when planes can often be spotted at 8-9 km...and now this?

    Premium Ship

HOOD Pros: - excellent gun handling, for quality-of-life - excellent mobility, allowing you to quickly correct positional mistakes - strong armor when angled (the orangy bits in the image below) - decent AA - improved AP penetration angles - unique look (no tech-tree equivalent) - famous, if tragic, history Cons: - only 4 guns at the front: not good for bow-tanking, which is a bad idea in most cases, anyway - a bit expensive, I guess Compared to the likes of Nagato, Colorado and KGV, her mobility and armor allow her to perform much better against T8-9 opponents, in my experience. Also, MONAGHAN is good value for money, imho, because you can either play her as a typical mid-tier USN DD (good guns and agility, but slow-range torps) or you can go for the meme build, 2 guns only but Benson (tier 8) torpedoes. Gunboat Monaghan is competent and fun, but torpedoboat Monaghan is the queen of Dev Strikes and really powerful if you run RPF and keep your cool, use your smokes/reload boosts at the right time, etc. The ASASHIO is also really nice, as the concealment should allow you to outspot and sometimes outfight (with support) higher-tier DDs like Gearing and Halland, while the long range of the torpedoes should allow you to strike BBs in the background without having to get close to those nasty radar cruisers in between. The OKHOTNIK is also nice, especially with both the concealment and the gun range skills.

    Cruiser the forgotten gameplay

Agreed. Imho winning largely comes down to map control and sinking enemies quickly. I mean...what else could it be? Now... - cruisers can melt DDs if they surprise them with a combination of radar, RPF, hydro and islands, otherwise nah - cruisers can melt BBs if they manage to use terrain or smoke really well, but only if the BBs overextend - otherwise, cruisers will do reliable damage, but they take too long to sink enemies - cruisers generally don't have the guns to set up true crossfires and gain map control, as beyond certain ranges they can't even citadel each other, let alone BBs Meanwhile, - DDs can delete ships in the open with their torps - DDs can yolo-rush distracted BBs and cruisers (especially supercruisers) - BBs can delete cruisers and almost delete other BBs; at mid-range, they can also blap DDs quite well - most BB guns are scary at all ranges, making turns risky and funnelling enemies into less and less comfortable positions Personally, my WR is about the same in all classes, but I do feel I need to work harder to win games in cruisers, whereas for DDs all I need is some competent action around the caps and enough map awareness to plug holes in my team's frontline, and for BBs I simply need to avoid excessive risks until it's the late game or we're looking at a clear steamroll
  4. Azuma's heals reloads twice as fast, and she's less likely to see CVs. At this point, and for the foreseeable future, there are going to be more coal options than free xp options, so if one wants to try different playstyles I'd recommend Azuma for free xp and Marceau/Salem/Pommern etc. for coal.
  5. Halland and Friesland are completely apart: - Halland is very strong in the open, as she's basically a torpedo sniper with enough AA to deter CVs from dealing with her effectively. Not the best at taking caps, but very good at area denial - Friesland has long-lasting, slowly-regenerating smokes that are best used for camping near a cap and farming large targets. She has bad concealment, no heal, no speed boost and no torps, so she's quite limited as a DD hunter, as well - Smaland gets decent torps, speed boost, radar and a heal, and better gun range than the Halland: imho she's just a better Friesland, since she can both farm (in the open, thanks to the speed boost and heal, or behind islands) and contest caps (radar, speed boost, torps). Due to her radar, the Smaland works better with a 6.8 concealment (no need to take Concealment Expert, so that's a free Fearless Brawler...) than the Friesland works with a 6.3 concealment. I have all three, and I regret to tell you that I think Smaland was worth 2M more than the Friesland is worth 1M.
  6. I mean...you could a lot worse than a Georgia, but if you have a good game that's maybe 25k ship xp that has no practical use.
  7. 1) The Nelson was my first free xp objective when I started the game, given her history and looks. I got her after a few months of playing, in August, 2019. 2) Later I felt I wasn't ready for high tier ships yet, so I spent my free xp on captain training, as I started grinding new lines. I wouldn't get a 19 point captain until early 2020, so I had no way to farm free cpt xp. 3) It took me until May 2020 to get the Alaska. 4) Then I guess I got some premium time for free, or I started using special signals in a more concentrated way, because it only took me 2 months to get the Friesland. 5) I got the Azuma in another 2 months, in no small measure thanks to the special signals from the Anniversary event (early September). 6) With a lot of leftover free xp from those signals, I got the Smaland in another 3 months, December 2020. 7) I haven't bought a free xp ship since, and I have about 2.6M in reserve. I occasionally use it to skip (re)grinds I don't like, like Buffalo and Minsk. The Agir doesn't interest me, and I'm waiting to see if they introduce anything else before pulling the trigger on the Hayate. Keep in mind, I play the game a lot, but I've never bought premium time, let alone special signals. TIPS on free xp farming: - if you have no problem with spending some coal, whenever the coupon renews get some "Papa Papa" signals, and the "Pi Day" camos are good as well. - use a camo with good xp and free xp bonuses and use all relevant special signals at once (Wyvern only gives credits and Dragon only gives cpt xp, so they're not needed) - if you don't have all or most the relevant special signals, wait until you do: xp bonuses and free xp bonuses don't add, they rather multiply each other, so you want to maximize both - use high-tier ships with good captains - use premium time: buy a weekend's worth or something, unless you want to waste a lot of free xp potential; I save my special signals and really good camos for the occasional premium day - use a detonation flag, even if you're playing a BB - since you're also getting a lot of ship xp, do this while grinding a (fully upgraded) tech tree ship, T9 being ideal - don't try to win too hard and too early just because you have all the special signals: just try to have a good game - make sure to use first-win-of-the-day bonuses. If it's a special day/week, and the bonus is 100% or 200%, you don't need premium time. If you don't have all special signals, or you don't have premium time, you can go for a "low key" strategy: use a good camo (some ship xp and some free xp bonus, or the Pi Day), a "Solo Warrior" flag (Papa Papa) for free xp and a "Kraken" flag (forgot the name) for ship xp. There are going to be many times when you don't have special signals or premium time, but good camos and regular economic signals are easily available from events and daily containers, and a good game at high tiers will still give you 1-2k worth of free xp, which is nice enough.
  8. Same problem today around lunch hour, playing Silver league Ranked: most games would not display end results, not right after, not from port. It's the same issue I get if I quit the game with a ship still in battle, then start it again and click on the battle interface when in Port, except I never crashed today... It's very annoying...

    Auction Rigged

My reading comprehension is just fine, thank you very much. The comment might mean that: 1) there are 5000 winners in your auction (here, on the EU server) 2) the other servers, which have a different player population, have the same 5000 winners regardless If they wanted to say "there are going to be 5000 winners worldwide, and they're going to be the highest-bidding 1250 accounts for each server", well, they could've written that and avoided any problem. The simple mention of the number 1250 would've improved communication a lot. Also, there's nothing I "want to read" to "improve my chances": I bade pretty much all my credits (100M) and I won, so I'm satisfied.

    Auction Rigged

As long as it's for credits, it's fine by me I mean, I got enough coal to go from two-weeks-away-from-the-Flint to one-day-away-from-the-Pommern, let's say, and the minimum rate, which will probably go down in future auctions, was less than 1M credits : 1k coal, which is reasonable: if you play high-tier ships with a premium account, you'll get your daily 2k coal easy, and 2M credits will take 4-5 games. I see 1 steel ship as being worth 2-3 expensive coal ships, depending on how much you play competitive modes, so maybe 600k coal, which at the current "reserve price" would be about 480M credits

AP shooting DD...is here something i am missing ?

Extra AP damage + extra fire chance, together, do seem like a viable alternative to a 4 point skill like AFT, especially in Ranked.

You can be as pessimistic as you want, my point is simply that compulsive spending is already possible: there's virtually no limit to what you could spend on premium ships, permacamos, free xp conversion to level up a captain or to grind Research Bureau points, etc. Sure, most of these things are semi-parmanent, so there's less FOMO, but still, the possibility for self-harm are endless...

    Auction Rigged

The wording on the English translation (see above screenshot) says otherwise, to be fair: "5000 winners" "the number of winners and the starting bid amounts are the same for all servers" To me, and to anyone I assume, that means that there are going to be 5000 winners on the EU server, 5000 winners on the CIS server, 5000 winners on the NA server and 5000 winners on the ASIA server, since the first line doesn't read "5000 overall winners".

    Auction Rigged

It's not *exactly* like gambling, though, is it? I mean, if you go out of your way to purchase credits to enter a higher bid and be sure to win, sure, you'll waste your money, but you can also waste money using dubs to get free xp to get that Missouri/Smaland/Alaska before they're withdrawn. Or just buying a bunch of premium you'll never play. There is no bet being made, but it's still incredibly wasteful, and it can also be addictive (shopping can be addictive). On the other hand, if you spent some real money to get more credits and you still didn't win, you can always wait for another auction, where the bidding is going to be lower (probably), or use the credits for ships/modules, or convert them to free cpt xp. You're not going to *lose* credits by participating in the auction: it might be a bad exchange, but you have much more information than you do on Santa Crates, for instance.

    Auction

    Got it for 101.010.101 credits
  18. Hey that's more than some missions give!!!
  19. I bade basically all my credits (F2P player). Since the only new ship I could buy right now is the Henri IV (all my other grinds and re-grinds are a while away from their objective), I think it was a reasonable choice: now I'm one day's worth of coal away from the Pommern, Z-44 and others, or a few weeks away from the Neustrashimy. Special modules and free xp flags/camos are also an option. I have no problem with a feature that allows us to exchange resources, whatever the rate. I have problems with the recent change in the achievements-flags situation...

    Signal flags from achievements

I am positive you could get 20 or more CQE flags if you got more than 1 secondary kill during the same match, and you hadn't already gotten the reward from another match during the same day.
  21. tocqueville8

    This new feature...

You can combat (non-economic) signals for silver, if you really need them. But yeah, it sucks. They could've lowered the number you get, especially for the most common achievements (Dreadnought, Confederate...), but not getting a single flag for a Kraken is a bit depressing.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Let's just pretend we were not the "KKK division"...
  23. I run it on every cruiser, alongside PT. I'm also considering it on Soviet gunboats (regrinding the Kiev rn), for a captain who's never going to have a full build. I never bought the argument that it's "just a crutch", frankly, but your mileage may vary. I find it extremely useful when I'm kiting in the open and there are multiple enemies at least temporarily aiming at me: the skill tells me if I can keep using all my guns for maximum DPM, or I have to dodge to save my citadel. Since I can't keep an eye on all enemy threats at the same time, especially in the early game if I'm playing the attention-seeking flanker, IFA streamlines the whole process. The only thing is, it doesn't tell you when a disappearing enemy has just fired one last blind salvo at you, so don't continue a turn you started at that moment.

Tirpitz secondary build after captain rework

    1) I wouldn't buff the turret traverse on a ship that can rotate turrets 180° in 36s: for 2 points I'd rather take IFHE, to let the 105s pen 32 mm 2) I would NOT take Gun Feeder on a BB unless the captain is Halsey or Sansonetti and the skill is -75% switch time. It's just too slow to be practical otherwise. 3) I would TOTALLY take Preventative Maintenance, especially on the Tirpitz, to keep the torpedo tubes online during brawls. It also helps not getting steering/rudder incapacitated by enemy torps or AP dive bombers, which are a bigger threat if you push in close. 4) The final 4 points are debatable, imho: Concealment Expert, Close Quarters Combat, Emergency Repair Expert (if you're a considerate player and know how to survive during a long match), or even Basics of Survivability + Pyrotechnician (to partially offset IFHE) are all viable options. This is what I'd go for:
