The Hipper is an unmitigated disaster and needs huge buffs
Aragathor replied to Pocktio's topic in Cruisers
You can easily overbuff the Hipper. Bringing the cruiser with the least amount of guns at tier to the same RoF as the New Orleans and Charles Martell, wouldn't make it too strong. Hell, this could be coupled with the improved HE shells as a new gun module (which now is part of Hull B). So players would need to pay XP and silver for the better performance. -

My AP is overperforming, constant overpens. But I just citadelled an Atago through the bow. So that's nice. Oh, and those juicy BB broadsides. -

After unlocking it and playing a few games I must say that the guns fire so slowly that you want to cry. Even a 1s buff would go a long way for the 8 rifles you have. PS: Other than that I love this ship. -
With a 3p Captain and a proper combination of events, bonuses, flags, and camos, it is easy to get to 10p. After 10p it should be a grind, as the most important skills you need are those four skills you take up to 10p.

On the surface this is a good idea to earn money for WG. But practically it would make them lose money, since buying a captain would lower the value of: -Operations/Events offering Captains as rewards -Converting XP -Premium Ships Why buy a premium ship and play it to train a captain, if you can just P2W one in the store? Interesting idea, doesn't work.

I'm of the opposite opinion when it comes to the Revolution and Julius. The Julius plays really nice, while the Revolution didn't click for me.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Aragathor replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
The Okhotnik is not a weak ship, the Okhontik is not a weak ship, the Okhotnik clubs everyone without care. And that's with a 9p captain... -
Not really, no. A 14km range at t7 is only valid for ships that require specialized captains, like the Atlanta. Being able to meet t9 ships means that a t7 cruiser with a 14km poses not even a nuisance when uptiered. A spotter plane changes nothing, unless it can be up most of the time. Right now with this range and with no special features this ship is inferior to silver ships at the same tier. And that means there's no point in buying her.

0.6.12 Update 0.6.12 Feedback - Halloween Event - Chapter 2
Aragathor replied to Kandly's topic in Archive
One of the reasons why I stopped playing this operation after encountering that bug. there is just no point in playing a battle that might not register at all. The fact that it's a thing shows that there are severe issues with the event. The huge cost of fully equipping a single ship will prevent most players who reached mid tier on a free account from participating. In fact a player with a free account is better off playing standard games as they bring in more silver and rewards compared to a maximum of 5 meh containers. Overall this event is to me a failure. Not because of the difficulty, or the lags, but because it's badly thought out preventing players from playing and because it has a bug that should have been discovered before it went live. PS: I have played the event with a fully equipped ship. -
There are 3 tier V ships that have more than 15km range. One has 100m less than 15km. The remaining two have 14km range. At tier VII there are 2 two ships with a range of around 15km, the Fiji and the Pensacola. They both have special ammunition that compensates for that. Myoko has over 15km with it's 10 gun battery and the rest is between 16 and 17 km. Without a good reason for the low range the Abruzzi will offer little incentive for players to buy her.
-
Adding those ships would be great, especially since then every line could start at tier 2 (save for CVs). And there are enough classes to offer a silver ship to every nation with battleships.
-
I really like this idea, it's simple yet elegant, and also doesn't require too much work.
-
The errors on the page have been corrected and it still shows commander XP. So it's probably not an error.
-
There's also projecting one's own experience onto the other player. I have a dedicated Gneisenau captain, and I love the playstyle. But I had to adapt and read up on sigma values and dispersion and all the other things that make Gneisenau an unique experience. Others might not do that. If one considers 4 servers, 60K doesn't look impressive. 15K per server looks quite realistic, even if Europe and Russia earned the lion's share.
-
I hope so. Fingers crossed etc. That's also why I haven't converted anything. After all a lot of people would buy doubloons to convert ship XP, but not commander XP.
-
The worst part for me, is that I thought they offered ship XP conversion and was happy for a minute, since I want to convert 150k worth of it. That is possible but such players sit on massive amounts of fXP already. Or I assume they do.
-
Converting elite commander XP is just backwards. Ship XP sure, have at it, but commander XP is too valuable to be converted.
-
It's not the ship it's the player. Yesterday I had a game in which a 3/4 health Gneisenau refused to close in on a Cleveland. Yes, a ship armed with torpedoes and powerful secondaries refused to get close to a cruiser that had nothing comparable.

If it weren't for the Soviets signing the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact, there would be no WWII. Let's not forget that Russia joined Nazi Germany in attacking Poland in '39. Also, Germany was never near the right path to constructing the atom bomb. There are many good books about it, the most classic being Richard Rhodes "Making of the Atomic Bomb". So the end would have been predictable, if the USA joined the war (as was their plan, since the implementation of embargoes on Japan).

What you got in your pumppimpkins? Pumpkins and new Halloween event available now
Aragathor replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
It is an operation, so nope, what you get is all. Got the Blade/Wakatake camo :(, 20k fXP :), and 15 Blue Lagoon camos. -
It is still there. I might try playing it later, for the fourth star. IFHE is critical for the cruiser, played just now and had the second most amount of kills on my team with it.
-
So the second part is up. Does anyone have tips for upgrades and skills for the new ships?

0.6.12 Update 0.6.12 Feedback - Smoke mechanic change - Overall
Aragathor replied to Kandly's topic in Archive
The smoke change we see now is a reaction of WG/Lesta to the seventh season of ranked, which was placed at tier 6. Since tier 6 has no smoke counters but 7 ships able to smoke, a smoke meta developed. People complained that their ranked matches were fought in a permanent haze, so WG/Lesta decided to make a global smoke change. They completely ignored the fact that the problem was in them choosing tier 6 for ranked, and not the smoke itself as there is no smoke meta in random. This change made RN CLs significantly weaker, as they rewarded aggressive smoking, and removed any reason for DDs to smoke up allies. All because of a single season of ranked. This illustrates the level of understanding WG/Lesta has about the game. -
That's a sensible idea, especially since there are enough high tier players so the wait times wouldn't really get longer.

Does anyone have any experience in slapping IFHE on low tier cruisers? I just played some games in the ST. Louis (for the Halloween achievement) and have noticed that a lot of HE hits are shatters. But the ship also has a low fire chance. So is it worthwhile to use a captain with IFHE on this ship? And possibly others as I have several other low tier cruisers.
