It's a slow USN dreadnought. Slow reload. Vulnerable to citadels if not angled. But it has a great AA suite, so CVs will avoid you or lose planes. The 10 guns really pack a punch. It's ok for it's tier, has some potential, even when bottom tier.
-
You;ll love the later BBs then, starting from tier 7/8 most BB lines get a boost in speed representing designs made in the mid-1930s. Ships like the Gneisenau and North Carolina can either reach 30kn or surpass it. You are squishy, you have fast firing guns and a decent fire chance. Taking you out quickly removes a threat to DDs and a potential problem to BBs. You also have a great AA suite. That's a bigger problem with the game, as it depicts classes by the name of the lead ship. You won't see SMS Mainz, instead you'll play Kolberg. Instead of HMS Rodney we have the HMS Nelson. That's a limitation we have to live with. Also some ships are held back to be sold as premiums, there are previews that the Duke of York will be one.

Use your guns for self defense only. Get the torpedo upgrade first, it will give you a 1km stealth torp window compared with the stock 500m. Turn your AA off. If you can, go for Concealment Expert, this ship needs it, you can pick up Superintendent on the way (From Gaede up you'll need it). Try to avoid contesting caps against full health DDs, with the exception of lonely IJN DDs. And if you can, always fire your torps, the 68s reload makes it easy to spam them.

I hope they will nerf the T-61 before the release, that ship is crazy good with a fast torp reload. About the german DDs, they benefit insanely from a 10p captain, skills like Superintendent and Concealment Expert catapult those ship sky high by giving them more of an edge. Having 4 Hydro reloads allows you to control the engagement with other DDs and the Concealment buff makes stealth torping easy.

Are there any Clans & ClanWars stats yet (either by WoWs stats sites and/or WG)?
Aragathor replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
No I will remain skeptical, instead of accepting anything at face value. But thanks for reminding me that WG has a willing audience that will swallow anything they dish out. -

The end effect is still the same, outright lying and misrepresentation of data stand side by side, as their target is to manipulate you. Besides, we don't know the true numbers, WG can tell you what they want and you won't be any wiser. -

If you don't believe me, just get yourself any decent "introduction to statistics" book. You won't believe how easily you can make the numbers show what you want. -

They will probably publish the numbers after the event, just like they did with the Bismarck campaign and the Halloween event. And I wouldn't believe those numbers, statistics can be manipulated. -
Please Wargaming - let us change the names of captains to avoid duplicates
Aragathor replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
Some new portraits would be nice too, especially some in those cool Hochseeflotte uniforms. -
Not buying ships that are higher tier than the ones you have. Tiers 5 and 8 are game changers. Tier 5 sees not only up to tier 7, but also most lines change dramatically. Tier 8 is the gateway to high tier matches, where getting battles with tier 10 ships is normal and passive play is the norm. The only T8 premium I own is the Kutuzov, and I bought that one the day before it was removed permanently from the shop.

While nice there are several issues with a DIY approach: -You need to have time to tamper with game files. -You need to do this every time the game is updated. -There will be updates in the future that will change the file structure, then the method might stop working. What we want from WG is a simple way to change things, without us needing three different programs to change the name and appearance of our captains. -
In one word? Haphazardly. I tried everything at once. Played some DDs there, some Cruisers here, hated my way through IJN BBs. Without a plan really. I mostly concentrated on going through lines as fast as I could. I started in January and still managed to get the Fire Rooster flag. And that mission required one Tier 5 ship from the US, IJN, German, and Russian lines. I only started to really plan my grind in April. But then I already had a good idea which ships I really liked. I also took a break from grinding when I reached T7 in most lines (IJN DDs being an exception and CVs too), instead of getting more ships I increased the size of my port, got premium camos on elite ships (like all of the T6 cruisers). That break allowed me to get better at tiers where a lot of the new players played. For example I didn't learn to properly angle a BB until the last ranked season, but then I had to learn fast as Fuso isn't durable in a brawl. Now I'm back on the grind track, and my stats are getting better and better.

You mean, how did I like the low tier ships? That's a hard question. On the one hand I love both WWI and WWII designs. I grew up sleeping next to a huge library of military history books with stories about how naval warfare was fought. Playing the ships from the stories just feels good, no matter their performance. That's why I play the Danae and why I bought Aurora, those ships have a story behind them that makes me want to play. On the other hand, after gaining experience at higher tiers I learned how to make the most of such ships. I can play them aggressively and see good results, because compared to the first time I played them I learned so much more about the game. Lastly, I often take breaks from playing the same ship over and over again. So that when I jump back in, it's a fresh but familiar experience. That's one of the reasons why I disliked the Gaede during the grind up, but love it now, I took a break from playing the ship and returned with a better understanding of its abilities (and a 10p captain ) PS: ste100 has 7 lines, the highest being German DDs with T-22. The rest is around tier 3-4.

That's like, your subjective opinion man. I have boatloads of good Bogatyr games and i'll say that the Bogatyr is a good boat. BTW I love the WWI designs, what I really miss are separate Battlecruiser lines. The RN Battleship-Cruisers and the German Cruiser-Battleships. Up to tier 6/7 with the Hood there are enough designs for both lines.
-
Bogatyr is one of the best T3 silver cruisers. With upgraded guns and a BFT/AFT captain it can really wipe people out. The only thing I miss on low tier ships is the lack of premium camo, because I would buy one for the Bogatyr immediately.

We all know how WG is willing to balance WiP ships. /s Just look at the Orion.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Aragathor replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Would have been higher but the we reached 1000p. I had a half health Wyoming sinking from flooding. -
It's not the tier 7 that hinders the Blys. It's the fact that without a 10p captain you will be struggling, and the ship really gets into its own even higher. The Blys is a great ship, good speed + high alpha allow for some nasty plays. But you need Concealment Expert.
-
Oleg - a silver Bogatyr with a well trained captain is better. The appearance and the secondaries make it a good buy. König Albert - great ship but it's a slow battleship with an even slower turret traverse. Aurora - fun, but slow. Emden - never played, so no idea. Ishizuchi - has been powercreeped by the Orion. Still a fun BB. From those five I can only recommend the Oleg. The Albert is good too but you need to like BBs.
-
If you really want to make a profit you might consider grinding up to tier 6 in a cruiser line that you like, and go for a premium camo on a silver ship. I make a boat load of money this way playing ops in a Cleveland. Alternatively you might consider getting a premium cruiser at tiers 5-6, but to be honest the only two choices that aren't complete glass cannons are the De Grasse and the Murmansk.

If anything the Gaede should be buffed. Such a weak ship, and it comes with a noob trap too.

Aslains mod pack update.
Aragathor replied to Kaigun_Chusa_Lee's topic in Announcements and General Discussion (English)
Every time Wargaming updates the game, the modpack has to be updated too. Oftentimes the modmakers do not update their mods, like in your case the flag mod, at the same time as Aslain. So he has to add the mods that are updated at a later time. Just be patient, and check his page every day to see whether the flag mod has been added back to the pack. I advise you to get two mods, MonstroMarkers and Info Panel (Enemy). MonstroMarkers will show you which enemies are on fire and also which allies use which consumables. Info Panel (Enemy) will show you the data of a targeted enemy like max speed, range of guns, range of torps, detectability. All very useful information. -
Yes, you also get the standard premium camo when you buy the Lone Star package.

Aragathor replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I have several captains that look the same, picking the right one form the list is awkward. The name and appearance of the captain should not be locked after recruiting. Make it cost silver, but give us a way to change it. -
Should be, there are some glaring exceptions though.
