One thing is certain, I'm not going to open my wallet for this abomination. Too limited in play style.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Aragathor replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Italian HE should have been the ultimate weapon against modules. An RM cruiser should be able to strip an AA cruiser of all of it's AA guns if WG had followed the source material for the ships. Instead we have two premiums that are weak, with the Abruzzi being made playable with heal because WG has no clue how to make it work. And the worst part of it is that the Italian cruisers were some of the most interesting designs of WW2. -
I think this is the main problem, people would like to spend their money, but being severely limited they let theirs expire. I remember getting one a few months back, really wanted to use it, but there was nothing I could spend it on that I wanted. So in the end I didn't spend a cent. That wasn't my loss, that was WG's loss.

Went for the Flamu tank build and I must say the games have become a bit more consistent. The AA is a weak spot, but I'm getting better at picking engagements and unless the carrier focuses me I can survive. One thing is certain, this ship plays different than the Bismarck.
-
The one thing that this game needs right now is a serious reevaluation of concealment values. Because having battleships that are stealthier than cruisers (high tier Russians excepted) is a cruel joke towards the cruisers. Additionally WG could take a look at the bottom three ships at every tier starting with T5 and check whether the ships are too weak. Ships that really need a buff in my opinion are the Neptune with the insane smoke spotting range and Ognevoi, because that ship is a T6 bote at T8.
-
You are doing this because of the match maker. Up to tier 4 you are protected and can only fight against ships one tier higher. At tier 5 you start having a chance to see ships two tiers higher. Because of how matchmaker works tiers 7 and 10 suck up lower tiered ships into fighting against them, making tiers 5 and 8 not that great to play (which is a pity since many ships at those tiers are really interesting). This also means that the higher you go mid or high tier, the less problems you will be having. About your Scharnhorst experience, you cannot see tier 10 ships in that boat since it is a tier 7 and has a +2 tiers limitation. So unless you division up with a tier 8 ship you cannot fight against tier 10 ships. Also Scharnhorst is one of the strongest premiums at tier 7, as it can fight almost any enemy ship at tier and win. I'm sorry to say that, but you are a bad player according to the stats and your problems probably stem from the fact that you haven't developed skills to play the game at a level which would bring you success. Because from all of the tier 5 cruisers, the Königsberg does ok when uptiered.

Going after low hanging fruit by declaring harmless stuff criminal is the police equivalent of stat padding in a Nikolai I. I don't know how the Chinese do it. But in Japan a lot of decisions are made by committee. So you don't have to convince the Author who holds the rights to all work, but rather a group of people all interested in profit and developing the franchise. So in the case of for example Haifuri, WG Asia had only to convince Media Factory/Kadokawa that they would need to allow WG to use the VA's and permit them to use graphics assets to profit from a cooperation. And let's not forget, Wargaming is a huge brand when it comes to military games and not some third rate publisher. So it's relatively easy to get a foot in the door for WG, because as long as the company isn't supporting another similar company they would give WG time to pitch an idea.

Looked at the Notser Abruzzi heal video. The ship looks like a horribly underpowered PoS. Low impact, low performance, and the heal does nothing. I really want to buy it, but won't, because paying money for it would be a crime. -
Yeah, that's becoming the standard, sadly. WG has been removing things left and right. Premium ships, collector's club, hell even the weekly missions are having smaller rewards than before. They are giving us less and less reasons to support them financially. I stopped myself today from buying the Sims. The money is there, but I don't think I want to support WG anymore. If they keep going with their genius ideas they won't be earning a cent from people. And the best part is, they then put out news how great the developments are and how they serve the customers.

Just imagine the possibilities, ship skins with attached cat ears and hats. Only 10.000 doubloons each.

Being aggressive in a T8 cruiser always ends with a quick return to port, unless you're top tier. The sheer amount of firepower that can be aimed at you will make a heal a paltry thing, because you can't heal a Musashi broadside going through your bow. And I wouldn't take the Eugen DD hunting, unless the DD player sits in smoke with no friends nearby. Because with only 8 guns and slow reload you will see the DD run away before you can do something. A disappointing premium is a premium that isn't being bought. Simple as that. And you will find that people will perform better in the Hipper thanks to their new ability to really give it to the enemy. Because you get rewards for doing damage and jack sh!t for being there until the end of battle. Charles Martell has the same range and better DPM. Guess what, it also performs better. Range is nothing if you can grab a cup of coffee between shells. I don't think we will agree on this. But I'm pretty certain the stats on the Eugen won't improve after the "buff".
-
There is no filter in the chat, the reporting system is a joke, and WG is ignoring what happens relying on the automatic response "that's what the reporting system is for". Sp don't expect improvements and pray the system will not get changed to add punishments for banned players. Also I'd advise you to remove the second image as it is naming and shaming, or can be seen as such.

I see it as a solution to a non-existing problem. Survivability wasn't the issue with the Eugen. Inability to do damage was. By giving it a heal WG can claim they buffed the ship, while the stats will remain the same, as the Eugen will continue being a liability as she is now. The reload of 203mm guns at T8 is more complicated than you think because you have to count in the amount of guns a ship has. Just looking at the reload will give you the wrong data. I had made some calculations for the RPM of the 203mm guns before, so let's take a look: Prinz Eugen (203mm) - 36,96 rounds per minute Admiral Hipper (203mm post buff) - 41,6 RPM New Orleans (203mm) - 45 RPM Charles Martell (203mm) - 54 RPM Atago (203mm) - 37,5 RPM Mogami (203mm) - 40 RPM After the buff the Hipper will fire more rounds than the Mogami and the Atago, it will have inferior RoF to the New Orleans and the Charles Martell, so the buff will make her really balanced. The future Baltimore might have a different reload than the NO though. Atago is also a premium and has a similar RPM value like the Eugen, but the Atago also has 10km torps it can fire from stealth and much better HE. It can fire a 10 gun broadside, set fire to the enemy, and fall back to stealth and shoot torps. Eugen can't do that, it has to keep firing because it can't do damage otherwise, it also has much worse concealment. The balancing factor on the German AP is that it bounces from everything but a broadside, so you have to rely on HE a lot and German HE has only better pen values while being worse overall than other HE. In closing, Admiral Hipper receives a buff that will make it a good T8 cruiser, able to deal damage and armored enough to survive. Prinz Eugen will remain the worst T8 premium and have the worst T5+ premium cruiser win rate, as the heal won't change the fact that players will struggle to deal damage and influence the game.

does manual selecting a target for secondary battery increase its dpm ?
Aragathor replied to Atorpad's question in Newcomer Questions
Sorry, but that's even more unreliable than the wiki. Because at least the wiki has the targeting bonus to AA right (it's +30%). -

Source? Because the wiki says that manually selecting a target doesn't provide any bonuses, save for the targeting override. -
AFAIK the 6th season happened before the the stealth fire removal. So you are talking about circumstances that aren't present in the game anymore. And this is the argument that supports a buff, because: -Leningrad is faster, stealthier, and has a better rudder shift. Also the torpedo armament is vastly superior with better speed, damage, and torpedo tube amount. -Gadjah Mada has faster firing guns with good angles, plus two pentad torpedo launchers that fire almost double the amount of torpos the blyska fires. -Cossack has more guns that fire at a better rate. It's, for now, stealthier and has hydro. Blyska will struggle to fight against those three on even terms unless it can ambush them and fire the guns first. Under other circumstances it is the weaker ship. Instead of refunding, WG should balance T7 premiums better. And nerf the Gadjah...

What happened to the special contest based Normandie camo
Aragathor replied to Allied_Winter's topic in General Discussion
Since the mission requirements are easy, the fastest you can earn the camo is 5 days. Not bad, not too grindy. -
-Reduced range - that would be a nerf, not a buff. Blyska lives and dies by its guns. -Reduced detection - maybe. -Smoke duration - nope, unless it's a special trait. -Torp range - 8km is alright at T7 for a gunboat. What the ship would really need is either better torps (faster) or better gun reload, because 6.5 base reload is a joke compared with Leningrad and soon Cossack (The latter has 4x2 turrets with a reload of 5s). A lot of people will just post "git gud" and be all smug, while showing complete ignorance of the fact that Blyska is getting powercreeped. Cossack with more guns and faster reload, Z-39 with 150mm guns. The ships needs a better edge.

Yeah, checked the client with the extended tech tree mod. The Monaghan is the 1943 version, the one lost in the typhoon Cobra. That's the Farragut C hull with 4 guns.

Awesome changes to Shimakaze and Prinz Eugen
Aragathor replied to darkstar73's topic in General Discussion
Yes, the Eugen gets only the Heal. Still has worst RoF among T8 cruisers. -
The WoWS forum is barely readable as it is. Whoever made the site put a premium on appearance and not on readability. But back to the topic at hand. Giving the ship a choice between 2 different hulls is interesting. Especially since the Monaghan had only 4 guns to start with, so the alternative hull will be an American Mutsuki with 2x127mm guns, good AA, and good torps. Because of the choice between good torps and classic American DD playstyle the ship will be really offering something for the 16€ it will probably cost. But it will be all ahistorical, as the second hull is a complete WG invention. Also the B hull will be gunned down by every other DD at tier, so you won't be contesting caps with it.

Awesome changes to Shimakaze and Prinz Eugen
Aragathor replied to darkstar73's topic in General Discussion
Congratulations WG, you just made the Prinz Eugen inferior to the silver Admiral Hipper. The title of worst T8 premium ship stays with the PE. Survival was never the issue with both ships, the problem was the fact they had little impact on the game thanks to the lowest RoF at tier. Now the Eugen will remain a low performance ship with a damage output lower than the Murmansk, while the Hipper will perform better both in the damage category and survival, because faster rudder shift allows the player to angle the ship faster. And don't get me started on the strength of the heal when a T10 blaps you. Prinz Eugen should have gotten a better reload and some more health instead of this joke. PS: Sold the Orion. Good riddance to that cancer ship, I used the captain on the Nelson anyway. -
I hope they will allow the Leander to fly the New Zealand naval flag, after all HMS Leander and HMS Achilles were crewed by Kiwis during WW2 as part of the New Zealand Division and then the RNZN created in 1941. It would really be great. But most likely the option will be limited to Perth and Vampire.
-
And the best way to do this is to remove the majority of ships from the shop and tech tree. Also, no Easter offers, as clearly Europe/whole world doesn't celebrate Easter. #WGLogic The WG's marketing and sales decisions are a marvel to behold, as they confuse me to no end.

What happened to the special contest based Normandie camo
Aragathor replied to Allied_Winter's topic in General Discussion
Sorry mate, but WG gave me those doubloons for playing Clan Wars. No money to make here. Not that I haven't spent my coins on this game, I'm too afraid to tally my spending for pixel ships.
