If WG is smart, those 10 tokens are going to be like a "taste" from a drug dealer, the moment you're hooked you will have to pay extra. WG is killing two birds with one stone. First, they grant access to ranked to people who aren't even close to tier 8, if they are willing to pay. Second, they make money. The high tier player perspective matters less than you think, as most of us (and I'm scared of using this term) are not the target. We have tier 10 ships, experienced captains, we know how to play. We aren't likely to drop cash for a tier 8 premium + a loaner T10.
-
Why shouldn't they? They are selling not only 3 good premiums with 6p/10p captains, they also give people who have no experience in high tier a chance to potato up to Rank 1. The wallet warriors dreaming of the Jolly Roger will be paying for the bloaters in the shop. Because you can bet your sweet cheeks WG is going to put a good price on those ships. And now just imagine all the loaner Shimas getting eaten alive by Z-52s...

@MrFingers just posted a preview of special T8 premium offers that include T10 ship tokens. That's right, prepare for wallet noobs in T10 loaner ships. It's like Clan Battles but with less coordination.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Aragathor replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
On the one hand, great, we are getting tiers 9 + 10 for the IJN Akizuki line. On the other, I bought premium camo for the Akizuki. So that's 3000 doubloons down the pipe. And the T10 doesn't have the historical 127mm guns planned as the upgrade to the 10mm ones, no, he has an extra turret with 10mm guns. I'm really torn about this one... -
And again Sea Wolves games are dead on arrival with rewards so measly, you almost have to ask why do you even bother with setting them up? Because being forced to play during prime time and compete with others for a chance to win a random standard container, is a joke. At first I've misread and thought that people would get 3x random containers, but nope, top two scorers get a random container. That's right, top 2 get a single random standard container. We are being spoiled.
-
I hope that with this change they will improve the rank 10-1 rewards. Last seasons camos were a joke and made me quit the season at rank 15.

That's not how it works in many cases. Some lines are clear cut, and how you play them changes little from a certain tier, but some can divided into two groupings or can't be grouped at all. @domen3 is right with the Japanese battleships, every ship is different and there's little that connects them, as you play a Fuso differently than a Nagato. US battleships are either superdreadnaughts/standard-type BBs from T4-T7 or fast BBs from T8 up. Germans have dreadnaughts at T3-T6 and from T8 the ships are very similar, Gneisenau is an oddity. French BBs are weird, but from the Normandie at T6 up you can expect similar gameplay. British BBs start at T4 and remain HE spamming monsters with low citadels but squishy sides. Japanese cruisers from T5 Furutaka up are heavy cruisers with good HE and torps. Mogami offers a diversion but it can mount 203mm guns too. American cruisers start with Pensacola, which will soon be dropped to T6. The light cruiser line remains a mystery. Germans are a very mixed bag, with light cruisers at T5-6, a garbage bote at T7, and then heavy cruisers at T8. Russians get into their style at T5 Kirov, hanging back spamming those long range guns. Brits start with the Leander at T6, Emerald is too different to be counted in even though it has smoke. French cruisers start at T5 with being fast HE spammers. Japanese DDs start at T6 for both lines, with gameplay being identical save for Akizuki. American DDs start either at T4 with Clemson as cap contesting gunboats, or T7's Mahan as torpedo boats. German DDs really get into their own at T6 but only after you upgrade the hull, as you then get Hydro. Russian main line starts at T5 Podvoisky, the alternate line has some typical DDs at T8 and T10 which differ from it. Pan Asian DDs start at T8, with the American made/Asian used ships. Before that it's a mixed bag.

I can see people taking the scenic route south on the new map shown in Femennenly's twiter. But the map looks like a nice close quarters territory. Which is nice, compared to Okinawa. Also the "Castaway" or CA Stay Away map made by CCs may get into the game, if WG likes it. -
Well, the only direction he can go from there is up. BTW, people buying premiums finance the game for all the free players.
-
They sold the following High School Fleet characters: -Moeka China (Musashi) -Kouko Nosa -Mei Irizaki -Maron Yanagiwara -Thea Kreutzer (Graf Spee) -Akeno Misaki The captains came in a bundle with a week premium time, doubloons, and flags. Plus, a special HSF mission (extra containers). Yeah, if I were a new player I would ask myself "where are all the premium ships everyone has?".
-
Happened to me too, mid battle just as i was readying myself to carry the day. This happens sometimes. We had a clanmate on Sunday who lost connection and left us unable to get the Stalingrad flag.
-
Very slowly and with uncertainty. We have April now and we haven't seen any of this circulation since the shop and tech tree was purged of offers. Here's a piece you might not like to hear. Since there is no guarantee that a ship will be available when you want it, buying one when it's in the shop, is better than not buying one and waiting ages to see it on sale. WG's artificial scarcity screws over players who want to get better and spend money when they are ready.
-
Try shooting a DD when the rest of the enemy team just needs one salvo to send you back to port. You can fire your guns once, and then it's off to the next battle. Right now Cleveland at T8 has 0 strengths. Because you have nothing besides a piddly 9km radar and that's not enough to make a ship count. Just look at the iChase video on YT.
-
Well, after seeing the previews of the T8 Cleveland I lost any hope for the light cruiser line. Not even interested in going beyond T6 for ops. I feel like WG is splitting the USN cruisers to nerf them. Because that's how the changes start to look like to me.
-
I wouldn't bank on that, WG has made several questionable decisions when it comes to sales lately. The problem is they aren't cycling anything. The last two weekends had 0 premium ship offers. And before that we had French ships for weeks, with only the Kidd on St. Patricks. Next weekend is Okinawa commemoration, so we might see IJN & USN premiums. Or more likely, no offers, as we didn't get anything for Easter. Not even a chance for the Easter flag like last year.
-
Don't get your hopes up. WG recently decided that less sales is more sales, that's why they removed most premium ships from the tech tree, butchered the premium shop offer, and decided that a regular rotation of offers in the shop is unnecessary. Instead of combining the Isoroku missions with a flash 48h sale of HSF materials they did nothing. So while it sucks canine balls, you most likely won't be able to buy the HSF Harekaze in the future.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Aragathor replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Bought the Sims, first battle, forgot to buy premium consumables, AA specs. Result, top of the team, second highest plane kill count, and enough XP thanks to the secret modifier and flags to buy my commander a new skill. -
Well, Notser has a new FdG video up. It shows how not to play the ship, as the secondary build he uses makes him go deep into a cap, eat a ton of damage, and leaves him unable to carry anything.
-
They could go with basing the camos on the girls. In fact that would be relatively easy, if the camos were just colors on the ship models. They could also go with full on models, that would be also possible based on how some of the shipgirls look like. Just look at the three examples below: These are Graf Spee, Indianapolis, and Fusou. All three could serve as sources for camo colors or as inspiration for new ship models. A shrine maiden Fusou model would look hilarious
-
Completely missed that announcement, this is awesome. Especially since I missed out on buying the Musashi commander when the HSF captains were up for sale. At least now I can have the cat. And thanks to the sign up no one is forced to get one.

Looking at the entries I expect a lot of people to switch to chibi ship avatars in the future...

yamoto isoroko campagne should be adjusted
Aragathor replied to anonym_RGvUdEcxWWvD's topic in General Discussion
You're going to regret it even more. Premium ships come with a lowered service costs, so that Atago you sold had a lowered service cost, meaning it could have gotten you more silver in the long term. My advice for the future, never ever sell premium ships. It's just not worth it, even if you don't use them. Because you never know when you'll need them. There are several sites that provide information about player stats. I used https://wows-numbers.com/. You can find your stats there, but also stats of all the ships in the game, and clan stats. You can also get a forum banner like I use there, to show others how you play. -

Aragathor replied to anonym_RGvUdEcxWWvD's topic in General Discussion
The campaign is aimed, just like the Honorable Service campaign, at players who have high tier ships. Players who just started to play are better off going for the Science of Victory campaign and using its task to get better at the game. Now you claimed that 6/9 missions in the first stage require a T9 cruiser. But this isn't so: -3x 3 stars missions in stage one require a T9 cruiser. -3x 2 stars missions require a T8 cruiser. -3x 2 stars missions require a T8 ship of any kind. This is a pretty even split. And since you own the Atago you can do 6 out of 9 missions. Looking at your stats I really advise you to grind out other lines and try to get better at the game. Because even with your high tier IJN DDs you aren't a help to your team. -
You're joking, right? Right...?
