Is "Concealment" the new "Situational Awareness"?
Aragathor replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
Brother, this isn't an argument against CE, this is an argument against picking the Legendary Upgrade on the Henri IV. -

Ich schaue mir die Streams von Flambass an, und er erhält Twitch-Boxen. Aber er schaut auf seinen Stream während er streamt, also zählt sein Account als Zuschauer. Glaube ich zumindest.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Aragathor replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
It doesn't need penetration angles, this isn't the German AP trait. What it desperately needs is better AP penetration. German penetration is one of the worst if not the worst across all CA lines. it completely nullifies the benefit of the great AP damage the line has. Had a an example of this recently, shot a Henri IV over 10km in the Hinden. The guy gave me perfect broadside and I aimed well. Nothing happened, the spaced armor ate the shells. -
If only the English speaking ships subforum didn't have a retarded structure, and instead had subforums sorted by Nation/Class/Ship... Just imagine the ease of having a dedicated ship thread, where people could post opinions, ask questions, discuss issues. But no, instead we have people resurrecting old threads just to say "I like this ship". Seriously, the other language subforums have this section properly sorted. Why we are having this idiocy is beyond me.

If they did this they would have to buff a lot of ships, as there would be enough ships out there that would suddenly lose stealth torp capability or similar problems. And I'm not talking about battleships here. -

Yes, after a few games i reverted back to a more general build with the concealment module. The LU is placed in the wrong slot. If it competed with the 6th slot an argument could be made for the tank build. But as it competes with concealment it is a no brainer. -

Good for you guys, I wouldn't have bought the JB any way, but it is nice to see some people getting it with a hefty discount. -

Removing CE and giving all ships in the game a -10% detection buff would be a net benefit to all, as it would make the game more open to interesting captain builds, while at the same time allowing new players and players grinding new ships to have a more level playing field. I think WG would do good to consider this, as they are already tinkering with the skill for the CV rework. PS: having a skill that is mandatory on all ships, save for a few exceptions, is dumb. -

I thought about half a year of premium or the Massachusetts. Went for a compromise and bought the Haida. Very happy with that decision. -

You're joking, right? It's not the fires or floods that kill Hindenburg, it's the HE alpha. You can heal all you want, but when that IFHE rain starts coming you will be dead. Besides a tank build with the LU means that you will be spotted from 13.7km, that means everyone will have enough time to just obliterate you with raw damage. -
Here's a quick rundown on the amount of games played for the three cruisers on the three servers in the last 2 months: As we can see, the numbers on the ASIA server reflect the fact that there is a national bias there. On all 3 servers Henri IV is an acquired taste, with the lowest amount of games played out of the three. The good stats of the ship also mean that it's a pick for better players who know how to make the ship work. Zao clearly dominates on both EU and NA when it comes to the number of games, which isn't surprising as the ship has a very good Legendary upgrade and received buffs in the recent past. Hindenburg is still popular. There isn't an overwhelming discrepancy between it and Zao.
-
Here are the stats, for the same period, for the NA server: Hindenburg stats suck on NA too, just look at the K/D ratio and winrate. So the argument "Germans play the ship badly" can be put away as bollocks. Besides, as the largest server we generate a lot more data than say ASIA. Plus, there aren't enough German players to completely overpower the results of players from other nations.
-
If you believe +1 heal will fix anything you're naive. Hindy isn't taking continuous damage that can be healed, like fire or floods, it eats citadels that can only be restored up to 33%. And if a Republique gets a lucky 25km salvo against you, you won't be healing anything because you'll be sunk.
-
If this is one of the strongest T10 cruisers, why does it have the worst stats of all of the free roaming cruisers? Have a look: I mean one look at those stats and it's clear that both Zao and Henri IV are very balanced between each other. But Hindy is lagging behind. That +1 heal won't do anything, because that's not the category Hindenburg is weak in. That ship has no killing power. The great pen on a subpar HE doesn't make it good, the great damage on AP that can't penetrate doesn't either. What WG is doing is going through the moves, to have an argument "we buffed the Hindenburg, we need 1 year to collect stats", while changing nothing.

The line is not made up of FdG, there are other ships that struggle there. Not as much as FdG though, but that has nothing to do with secondaries but the fact that FdG is just overall horrible. Großer Kürfurst is just not a good secondary platform, the guns are nice but you tend to eat constant fire, as you are big and clumsy. Bismarck is ok. Gneisenau? Second worst damage on tier. After Lyon came out Gneis lost a lot of utility as a secondary platform, since Lyon can do that too. Bayern and lower? Not really secondary focused ships, the range and the skills aren't there (Man Sec is useless on them).

do people play to lose on purpose?
Aragathor replied to mrandrewclark85's topic in General Discussion
You need to realize that weekends are a tad worse than the weekdays to play. That's because there are people who only play during the weekend. Many of them just want to play boats, not caring about the end result or the team. While a special coop mode with some scenario background would suffice for them, they are playing randoms. Some of those people are passive and non-confrontational in real life. They don't like risks. It would go against the grain for them to make a bold play or even risk sacrificing themselves for a win. So they play like mice and the worst part is that they will in time get carried up to tier 10. -
The last tier that has viable German secondaries is 8th. Both Friedrich der Große and Großer Kürfurst fare extremely poorly when specced for secondaries, as they are too big and clumsy to fully exploit the secondary battery.
-
Yes and no, the French compete with them when it comes to secondaries, although they need IFHE on many of their ships to fully utilize them. According to the Anaheim event today secondaries are getting a rework. They want to make them more viable.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"

It's not the armor, it's the meta. At long range Hindy has to face some brutal hard counters like Yamato, Musashi, and the dreaded 20s reload of the Republique. The last one reloads faster than you can turn, so once spotted you will lose at least 1/3 of your health. At close range Hindenburg has a too low RoF to compete with ship's like the Des Memes, but mostly Harugumo and Worcester. The close quarters meta switched to high RoF HE spam, and Hindy can't compete there. Hindenburg might be a relatively simple ship, but it doesn't mean it has strengths that make it competitive. While everyone got new toys, Hindenburg was left sitting in the sandbox building castles with his bare hands. -
Received a 30% coupon but don t have what to spend it on...
Aragathor replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
Having current specials and newly introduced ships excluded makes sense from a sales perspective. Otherwise people would all buy JBs with those coupons. And that 0€ cost you mention? Only true if you do not value your time, because you don't get coal for free in the game. You have to earn it by investing time. And it's a good move by WG to move people who want to buy standard stuff like dubs or premium time towards buying a larger item. If you believe that a 30% discount is worth nothing then there's no help for you. This offer is not an empty box of chocolates. There are people who happily bought something suing that discount, it's just that the offer doesn't suit you. -

My problem lies in that I'm torn between buying the Massachusetts and going for 6 months premium. Can buy only one. -

Mostly standard packages (those without a -% in the corner). Things like: -Premium ships. -Premium time. -Doubloons.
