My clan doesn't have enough good players to give the same level of support to our beta team that the clans made out of unicums can. We can't drop a guy in a Stalingrad with a 60%+ WR into beta, we don't have one in our alpha team (yet, we are short on steel). I don't expect our beta team to go beyond storm. They are slightly above average players all, but some have very few T10s or need coaching (which we do). Having them clubbed by top league clans that are focused on competitive modes? Kills the point of CBs as they aren't competing with their equals in skill. Let me quote some numbers: Season 1 - 1426 clans participated, 11352 didn't Season 2 - 1526 clans participated, 13795 didn't Season 3 - 1376 clans participated, 15473 didn't Season 4 - 1308 clans participated, 17519 didn't http://maplesyrup.sweet.coocan.jp/wows/cvc/ The number of clans grows, the number of participants in CBs drops. If Hurricane and Typhoon clans keep clubbing clans that are in Squall and Gale, a lot of them will just stop participating. The way beta team mechanic works has a negative impact on the Clan Battles, and this has been called out by people who are much better at this game than me.

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]
Aragathor replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
RNG has been blessing me with signal drops from SCs. Considering the fact that I'm using a lot more signal;s than ever before, I consider this a plus. PS: The last one just fortuitously dropped from the first daily container. -
Use free XP if the ship frustrates you so much. I did. Lion and Conqueror are better ships that are fun to play, so it's not worth it to just quit the line because of Monarch.
-
I looked up the stats for those players the beta team lost to. The discrepancy was crushing. They never had a chance. And what's worse, some teams weren't that great but they had one or two alpha level players acting as anchors. My clan tries to put the most experienced CB players in alpha to push the general rating. The rest of the clan rotates through beta team. The teams beta played against? They had experienced guys telling the others what to expect and what to do. Having someone who knows the map and tactics is worth an extra player.

Finished the Clan Battles Santa mission. The results: - 4 New Year camo 2018 - Monaghan + 10p captain - 50 Papa Papa - 50 Papa Papa - 300 Doubloons - 50 Zulu - 4 New Year camo 2018 A very nice haul for a free mission. -
The ability of high league clans to seal club people by playing beta team has cost my clan a player. He quit after he faced several top tier clans having "fun" in squall gale league. The clan I'm in has some casual guys playing beta team, to them the experience is horrible when they have to fight against highly competitive teams in low leagues. There is no excuse for this behavior and there is no rationale for this to be possible.

After some longer testing I have finally reached a definite opinion about the MM changes. Whatever the aim was for them, they have made the game worse and highlighted the complete and utter lack of balance between tiers to me. The divide between high tiers (8-10) and mid tiers (5-7) is gigantic, and being uptiered in a mid tier ship automatically means that the battle will be be neither fun nor interesting. A tier 7 ship being put up against tier 9 ships is a joke. With the changed matchmaker this happens a lot more often then it should be. Even the previous system where tiers 5 and 8 had bad matchmaking compared to other tiers, is much more preferable to the current system.

After all the improvements there is no point in playing Operations, save those not yet "improved" by WG into oblivion.

So we are looking at end of December now? Great communication... Yeah. Looking at all those statement made by WG employees. Soon, a few days, next patch. No wonder MrConway didn't want to announce a release date. The goalposts are constantly moving.

I didn't claim that SSE protects a ship in any way, you did, by setting up a straw man. I didn't claim that SSE helps against proxy spotting, you did, by setting up a straw man. I didn't claim you can't hide a ship in your normal non-SSE smoke, I meant to say that it offers more room for the ships to move in, as standing still in a smoke leads to early battle ends. I have shown an example of how a mid-tier RN CL could use the skill by combining it with a division mate. Now, I neither support nor oppose using the skill. I can see a niche use for it on dedicated mid tier captains. I personally do not use it, as my captains are starved for skills as they are. You can take it any way you want, but I do not agree with blanket generalizations thrown around like gospel truth. And that's all I'm going to say on that matter. Seeing as WG has been tinkering with citadel height and form lately, this should be a thing. I don't see why high tier RN CLs should be so vulnerable compared to USN CLs.
-
There is a huge gap between your implication that @Donnerturmclaimed SSE being "THE" skill for RN CLs and your own claims that it is "useless". You can safely park all T10 BBs with room to spare in that gap. SSE doesn't work for cruisers other than Perth, Mikhail Kutuzov, Huang He, and RN CLs from T5 and up, that's a fact as other cruisers don't have smoke. Is it always useful? No, it depends on how you play the ship in question, assuming the ship has smoke. Let me give you an example on how a mid tier RN CL could make use of this skill. Take a Leander with SSE, add to it a division with a Dallas. The larger smoke cloud offers cover for both ships while the Dallas provides spotting via the fighter plane consumable. Both ships can alternate hydro usage, making the smoke safer from torpedoes. In addition the combined AA bubble of the two ships (plus DFAA from Dallas) make the smoke a deadly trap for carrier planes of the same or lower tier. Using SSE on a RN CL is neither right nor wrong, it is a question on whether you can utilize the benefits it offers.

There are a lot of people who believe that their way to play a ship is the only right way to play. Often those people are elitist unicums that take a load off on anyone disagreeing with them. I'm not saying that this is the case, but I'm seeing a patter on the forum. Personally? I think that Smoke Screen Expert lost a lot of its strength after the smoke setup buff and moved from being a necessity to an option. I believe that you can get the most of it at mid tiers from T5 to T7, after that it would depend on how you play. Then blind firing into smoke should be made completely useless, because right now smoke is a joke for RN cruisers. One of them smokes up and then gets blapped by someone using a spotter or even just firing at random.

Seattle Cruiser T9. ! God to play ?
Aragathor replied to Shipmate_Peter's topic in General Discussion
I moved from the reload module to range after getting*edited* Even with that Seattle is not a good ship. It didn't deserve the radar nerf. In fact it needs a buff as it doesn't shine in any category and is a painful experience almost on par with the Neptune. -
I took a gander at the stats for the last 2 months for both Mino and NepNep: What do the numbers mean? Well, for one, Neptune sucks donkey balls. If you look up Minotaur stats you'll notice that it doesn't differ much from other T10 cruisers. So a general buff would go too far. I think the first step should be to buff Neptune by improving the concealment, especially when firing from smoke. It would be interesting to see the line reworked to have more armor and take away the smoke. Especially since smoke has been getting useless more and more.

Watch a Stream – Receive a Free Container! - Discussion Thread
Aragathor replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
I've gotten 3 when logging in today. From the previous drops, I'd say you need to wait a few hours after watching a stream, for the crates to be credited. I'm very happy with this development. -

Indeed, but at least my captain on the 9th has a massive latino pornstache. Compensates a bit for that. Also, I forgot to play Flamu's infamous RNG vid, but still got good RNG. -

It's interesting though that the prices for Santa containers almost haven't changed save for a rise by 1ct. -

Before I bought the pack today I counted 8 ships from the list I didn't have. Right now getting gold would be a blessing since there are a few things i could use it for, plus Arsenal will soon have doubloon items. -

Indeed. Played one game in the 9th and there was no mission afterwards. But I'm still happy with the return on my purchase, even if it isn't O'Higgins. -

Decided to buy 5x medium boxes now and wait until Christmas for any other purchases. My 5 boxes for 12€ gave me: -15x Ouroboros -1x Nueve de Julio -2x 1000 Doubloons -15x Red Dragon Not bad, Nueve alone goes for 30€ in the shop. Would have preferred the Boise, but it's the same ship anyway.
