  1. An older game where together with a clanmate I won a double kraken for killing a total of 10 enemy ships (5 each). And today's game of the evening, proof that if you have the stones you can still push in a Kürfürst. Also, I finished the LM mission with it.

    Naval Traditions: Naval Cuisine

You mean the reason Brits are called limeys? The also missed the fact that faults in early caning techniques were most likely the reason Franklin's polar expedition failed, due to lead poisoning effects. Or the fact that in the Meiji era the IJN fed ordinary sailors only rice, which led the Japanese to wonder why their sailors were dying on long voyages. Also a lesser known fact, many sailors had an aversion to eating fish, due to a belief that they shared Neptune's domain.

Don’t buy PEF - she sucks hard

I'm waiting until next Saturday, will post pre- and post-patch stats then and talk about them in comparison with other T6 ships. Long range AA has become incredibly inefficient after the rework.
  4. Blizzard put an unprepared nerd in front of a crowd that received a bait and switch. Good marketing and professional customer service are a dying art in gaming, it's all about the quick buck, nylon bags instead of promised canvas, insulting players instead of listening to their wishes.
  5. Welcome to modern gaming. Just look what Activision/Blizzard and other devs are doing. "Don't you people have phones?" "If you don't like it, don't buy it" "This is a game, you people are uneducated". Game companies have been on a wave of stupid last 12 months.
  6. I really think their reaction is forced by the amount of hate they are getting on RU. The 0.8.0 feedback thread has 254 pages and 5080 posts, mostly negative. And WG listens to Ru more than they listen to us.
  7. Waiting three weeks while customers are leaving and others are cheesing stats by exploiting design inadequacies, would be the height of incompetence. Weren't you also one of the people who criticized others by using the "this is just a test" argument? This just a test, expect frequent adjustments. The grown up discussion was sent into the corner when Wg announced that, ignoring all comments, the CV rework would go live with 0.8.0.

    Combat Missions: February

Permanent server shutdown? Banning of all people who didn't like the CV rework in the forum? Removal of doubloons and premium ship from accounts that log in on that day? Who knows what WG will do to make us spend time with our families.
  9. Well, to be honest, looking at WGs track record in timely response to improvement ideas, they are almost an example of worst practice or at least of foot dragging. And we don't have it that good. Look at Crusader Kings 2, 7 years on the market, still getting DLCs rewriting major elements of the game, devs and reps are very active in the community. Now that's some long time support for a game. I know, but sub just saying hotfix coming, is like a weatherman saying rain when stormclouds are hanging over him.

CVs and gaming enjoyment in WoWs: Polls

Wrong. The mere appearance of carriers did not make battleships immediately obsolete. It was the combination of various issues that made battleships fall out of favor. Let's look at them: -Changes in strategy. Alfred Thayer Mahan's grand engagement plan was revised by reality due to the introduction of both carriers and submarines. Navies had to devote resources to control the air and underwater, reducing their ability to go for a decisive battle. Mahan's ideas were rehabilitated during the Battle of Midway, as the destruction of the Kido Butai effectively defanged the IJN. -Vulnerability of anchorages. Taranto, Mers-el-Kebir, Pearl Harbor. WW2 has shown that capital ships were incredibly vulnerable at anchor, from both long range surface bombardment and airplanes, especially when unprepared. The attack on pearl harbor happened during peace time, on a day of rest, in the morning. Let's think about what would have happened if the Kido Butai planes flew not against brass bands playing Anchors Aweigh and officers heading for the golf course, but against manned AA stations and fighters flying CAP. -Economy. The Great Depression made battleships an expensive piece of hardware. Their maintenance was so costly that many nations got rid of them in the aftermath of WW2. Nations without an easy access to Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants, were severely hampered in the deployment of battleships. Just look at the Italian Navy and the IJN. -Size. Battleships reached their physical limits in WW2, they just couldn't realistically get bigger. The USN was limited by the Panama Canal, as they had to defend the States on two oceans. The French lacked the capability to construct larger capital ships, as their shipyards were too small. -Development of weapons. Fritz-X and HS 293 rang in a time where weapons capable of delivering over the horizon strikes between surface vessels were a reality. For example a single Iowa-class BB had cost the same as 3 Oliver Hazard Perry frigates (dollar value adjusted to 2017), with those frigates carrying several Harpoon anti-surface missiles and offering greater flexibility. Here's a better thought, let's pressure WG to balance the game so that every class has a place in the game, instead of having the current bad experience that makes people leave.

    General feedback

Let me give you some advice, don't let the premium go to waste. Use it to play coop. There are no CVs there and it's more fun than just throwing money away. I have a lot more than just 30 days left, so I'm not going anywhere but to play some stupidly aggressive coop games.
  12. There's an old soviet era joke about a central committee speech: "Comrades! Yesterday we stood before a dark abyss! But today, we are taking a great step forward!" Let's hope WG isn't like the old party, because the rework looks more and more like the Corn Campaign vol.2.
  13. Nothing will change. They won't listen. Expect a "everyone loves the new CVs" video soon. PS: I dropped to low tiers. Novik/Zhemchug is a nice ship.

0.8.0 CV question. What just happened?

This is a retarded exploit no matter how you paint it. "Why did the Americans lose all the TBD Devastators at Midway? They didn't press 'f' when the flak clouds popped up."

    Lunar New Year

According to some people WG is now listing your country of residence in the profile, so no matter where you log in, you still count as being in Belgium. Which is weird...
  16. Not much, but it's honest work. 2 CVs and very meager AA results, you can feel how the AA rework screwed the ship over.
  17. Just like carnival it isn't part of the European culture.
  18. The growing amount of public negative response to the CV rework will not attract new players, it will scare them off. There will be no real replacement for the veterans that leave. The lack of immediate response by WG shows that they don't care about the damage this is doing to the game. They have it too good.

Stop it guys. You aren't helping. You are derailing the discussion.

CVs and gaming enjoyment in WoWs: Polls

I've played CVs before the rework (badly and mostly in coop). After the rework I played them in coop again, and found them boring. And the worst thing is that I don't hate them from a historical POV, they were critical ships in the battle for the Pacific. But neither the RTS nor the squadron play styles do those ships justice. I love this game, been playing too much of it in the last 2 years. But I want a game that is balanced, a game where a counter to one ship is countered by another, where playing smart matters. I'm not interested in a game in which one class of ships can dominate the whole battle for reasons. That's why I don't like how the CVs are in the game right now. I'm not a quitter and I'm not interested in making a loud and useless exit. I dropped to low tiers to play ships I like and maybe rediscover some old ones (I really like the Karlsruhe now). But the whole negativity to the rework by players and the callous nonchalance displayed by WG staff frighten me. It looks like WoWS is hurtling down an abyss and no one is doing anything to stop it.
  21. And not only that, it's blatant. I don't believe a single word of assurance or promise the devs and reps give to us. They say one thing and then do something else.

I’m probably the millionth person to say it, but Alaska

You and everyone else who has been sitting on the 1 mil fXP. The truth is no one knows when Alaska will be released, at least no player. If CCs and devs know, it's under NDA so they won't tell us. But don't worry, everyone is as happy as you are that Alaska has been delayed.

    IJN 25mm AAA nerfed

But IJN was hit the hardest, as their AA is either extremely weak long range or short range 25mm. Before IJN cruisers for example were able to at least defend themselves from CV attacks with DefAA. Now they are just free XP.

    IJN 25mm AAA nerfed

The AA on the IJN cruisers consists of the captain standing on the bridge and firing his Nambu pistol at the enemy planes. When you activate DFAA the first officer joins him for 40s. It would have been funny if not for the fact that IJN got their AA defense brutalized.
