The difference in DM having a usable radar that can exert map pressure on nearby capture points makes the playstyle different compared to Salem. The difference in radar is not somewhat. It is extremely large. 8.5km is not enough to radar caps on most maps in the game. 10km can in most cases. Hence why this difference is very big. The utility salem provides with her radar is extremely diminished due to this. Not to mention the fact that it is extremely unlikely for a DD to ever get accidentally radared by a salem, as a DD getting within 8.5km of a salem is not likely, considering the gap between radar and detection. On salem, because her radar is only 8.5km, and thus you cannot actually exert pressure on 90% of cap zones, running Hydro is highly recommended instead. This distinction means that Des Moines is much more utility focused and can use her radar much better, whereas salem is more focused on taking fights with other cruisers due to her consumables, the lack of good radar and her good superheal. In competitive, Des Moines is usually the go to ship when trying to control capture points when it is between salem and Des Moines. Not to mention the Legendary module that makes her ideal for island scenarios and potential outplays.Salem is used more on the flank such as the 9/10 line of North or Land of Fire, as there is no need for a good radar, but instead the superheal gives you better trading power. Hi! After verifying internally, it is indeed true that in 2018 our policy changed and any ships purchased in the armory for doubloons, coal, steel and research points. Provided that no more than 1 battle is played and it was not sold. However for things such as sequential bundles, it is not possible to refund them directly. It is only possible to roll back the account completely, which can only be done if all the things obtained are unused, including containers being unopened. So in this case it is not possible to refund only the last bundle with dunkerque, for example. I hope this clarified some things @WWDragon Fair seas captain! ~Sera

They still play vastly differently. Des Moines is a utility cruiser, Salem is a dpm cruiser. Even more so if you have the Legendary module for the Des Moines. Then for which of the 2. Salem is definitely harder to play well. She is a lot squishier and can get punished quite hard. Napoli on the other hand is a lot safer, tankier and has a lot of tools to be safe such as a smoke. However Salem does have a higher skill ceiling than Napoli. Salem if played correctly will definitely achieve better results, but getting there will take most people a lot longer than for the Napoli. Hindenburg is definitely still a strong ship in my opinion. 50mm pen with decent rate of fire and fire chance is not easily dismissed. Her damage output is still quite high and her survivability is still high enough even with all the 30mm overmatch around Personally not a fan of hipper or roon, but hindenburg sure packs a punch ~Sera

Heya there sailor! I've checked your account and havent been properly given the correct token after finishing the campaign and obtaining another container. I've gone ahead and fixed this for you. Fair seas captain! ~Sera

30 minutes waiting in ranked gold qualification
Seraphice replied to luokailk's topic in General Discussion
Hey! As many other users have already pointed out, not many players have reached the gold league of this ranked season yet, so your queue times will be pretty significant. When you are among the first couple people who do, your queue times will be significant until more users reach the league. There is not much we can do about that unfortunately. Additionally the times at which you play influence your waiting time as well. Playing in the middle of the night or early in the morning will usually net you longer queue times as queuing up in the evening. Oh btw, windows key + print screen button for next time ;) Fair seas capain! ~Sera -
Wargaming needs to issue user manuals to their ships
Seraphice replied to kissforu8's topic in General Discussion
Hey! We do indeed have tutorials for our game! First of all we have the how it works series that explains basic concepts and interactions in our game, you can find it here: Then we have a more detailed tutorial for specific ships that goes into the strengths and weaknesses of certain ships and their recommended upgrades in our Armada series: And we have the same for some newly released tech tree lines: Those are all the youtube tutorials that we ourselves have posted, but there are plenty out there from other Community Contributors and Content Creators around the world. We also have a discord server tailored specifically to helping new players, run by volunteers. Most of them are experienced and veteran players with a lot of experience in high-level competitive and will be able to expertly answer all of your questions. You can find this discord here: https://discord.gg/GxufvN7R or alternatively you can go to discord.gg/wows and head over to the gameplay help channel, where these folks can also be found Then we also have a document made by those volunteers who can give you an insight into what are the best builds for each ship in the game and what variations you can try. You can find the document here: bit.ly/wowsbuilds That will be all for now, but I'm sure there are plenty of community members everywhere willing to help each other out! Fair seas captain! ~Sera -
Captains! Dockyard In Update 0.10.11, you will be able to start building new British battleship IX Marlborough at the Clydebank Dockyard. She is based on a 1947 project with some of the design solutions borrowed from the Vanguard-class and King George V-class ships. Her primary feature is a powerful main battery consisting of quad-gun turrets that house sixteen 356 mm guns with a high rate of fire for a battleship and a decent range of fire. She has good speed, maneuverability, and concealment, but her armor is not as sturdy as that of her counterparts, and her firing accuracy is low. Event Rules The construction process at the Dockyard comprises 32 phases. These shipbuilding phases can be progressed through by completing Dockyard combat mission groups or by spending 1,500 Doubloons to pass through each phase. The combat mission groups span two updates—0.10.11 and 0.11.0—and the Dockyard itself will remain in your Ports until the end of Update 0.11.1. In total, you can progress through 27 out of 32 shipbuilding phases by completing the Dockyard combat mission groups. You'll receive III Dreadnought in the Snow and Stars permanent camouflage, a 6-skill point Commander, and a Port slot as a reward for completing the 6th shipbuilding phase. Completing other shipbuilding phases will bring you Santa's Gift, Santa's Big Gift, and Santa's Mega Gift containers; New Year Sky expendable camouflages, days of Warships Premium Account, Coal, Steel, Research Points, and other valuable rewards. Upon completing the 32nd shipbuilding phase, you'll receive IX Marlborough in the War Paint camouflage, a Commander with 10 skill points, a Port slot, and a commemorative flag. If you decide to complete the construction of IX Marlborough by spending Doubloons, you'll still be able to progress through the Dockyard combat mission groups. However, in that case, instead of the usual rewards for completing the shipbuilding phases, you'll get 250 Steel for each completed phase. On the Public Test server, you can receive III Dreadnought, VI Repulse, and IX Marlborough for completing shipbuilding phases. However, you will not be able to helm Repulse and Marlborough into battle. The ships will be available only for viewing in the Port.

Captains! New Year Celebrations We have prepared loads of activities to celebrate the New Year: the New Year's Eve competition, a festive collection, new Commanders, and heaps of other rewards! New Year's Eve One of the primary features of our New Year celebrations is a temporary event called New Year's Eve. This competition is being organized by three snow giants who were brought to life by magic stars. Each giant has its own responsibility in the New Year preparations. Help them contribute to the celebration! New Year's Eve is similar to the Aircraft Bureaus Rivalry and Battle of the Beasts events, with minor interface improvements: Updated the tooltips on the team selection screen and above the mission cards. Added the display of the previous day's winning team on the event's main screen. New Year's Eve Rules The event starts 2 weeks after the release of the update and runs until the end of Update 0.10.11. It is divided into four stages, with each stage running for 1 week. Once a week, you can choose one of three teams named after the magic stars: Modus, Sertum, or Munera. During the event, you need to complete personal missions that are issued daily to all participants. The missions can be completed throughout the day in Random, Co-op, and Ranked Battles. Completing the missions will advance you through the personal and team progress bars and unlock rewards. Each team offers different unique rewards such as themed Commanders—snow giants with 6 skill points—and V Omaha, V Jaguar, or V Conte di Cavour in the Snow and Stars permanent camouflage. The first time you earn a unique reward from any team, you will also receive the New Year's Eve achievement. Other rewards include a new temporary resource—Sinterklaas Tokens, Christmas and New Year in the Navy collection containers, and New Year Sky expendable camouflages. The Christmas and New Year in the Navy Collection The festive collection is dedicated to New Year and Christmas traditions in the navy. It consists of four pages, with six elements on each. The reward for completing each page is 1 day of Warships Premium Account. The reward for completing the entire collection is a Santa’s Big Gift container. Collection elements drop only from Christmas and New Year in the Navy containers. These containers can be obtained by participating in the New Year's Eve event and in exchange for Sinterklaas Tokens, Credits, and Doubloons in the Armory. New Year Fleet In Update 0.10.11, five themed combat mission groups will be available to you. The reward for the first group is the New Year permanent camouflage for Tier VIII ships. Completing groups two through four will earn you VI Weser, VI Fubuki, and VI Izmail in the Snow and Stars permanent camouflage, as well as Commanders with 6 skill points. The reward for completing the last combat mission group is VI Kijkduin in the Snow and Stars permanent camouflage and Dutch Commander Sinterklaas with 10 skill points. All five combat mission groups will become available simultaneously. However, the first combat mission group can only be completed playing VI Repulse. Snowflakes You will be able to continue earning bonuses for combat results—the Snowflakes introduced in Update 0.10.10. Depending on the ship tier, "blown off" Snowflakes will bring you Coal, Steel, and a temporary resource—New Year Certificates, which can be exchanged in the Armory for any of the three types of Santa's Gift containers. The bonus for combat results can be obtained by either scoring the first victory or earning 300 Base XP playing a ship. List of rewards Tier V–VII: 750 Coal Tiers VIII–IX: 75 Steel Tier X: 1 New Year Certificate Please note: You can blow a Snowflake off each ship only once during Updates 0.10.10 and 0.10.11 in battles of any type, except for Training Battles. The Port of London has been decorated for the upcoming New Year celebration.

Hey chief! Choosing the right ship can be very tough. Here's my 2 cents! Lets start by going down your list: Pommern follows the general playstyle of other German battleships for the most part. If you are looking for a truly unique experience, this is not really it. Marceau is a tricky one. She is definitely not easy to play due to her shell ballistics and playstyle that forces you to play more open water. Mastering how to play around her speed and relatively high concealment and playing open water and dodging enemy shells at 10-13km will unlock a lot of potential with her. She is a lot of fun and very strong if you can master her, but she will take some time to pick up. You could try the French DD line, mostly Kleber and Mogador to get a bit of a feel for the gameplay. Salem, while similar to the Des Moines on paper, does not actually play very much like the Des Moines in-game. She is far more focused on trading with enemy cruisers and farming damage than her more utility focused counterpart. Hence why I also recommend to use Hydro on Salem instead of Radar. She is a very strong ship, especially if you dont have the legendary module for the Des Moines. Yoshino is great if you like sitting at mid to long range and flinging big HE shells at enemies and occasionally dropping some 20km torps. It is usually not a ship you push with. Neustrashimy is great. She does all that she does quite well. Though her price might not be the best choice as a beginner. I would suggest picking her up once you have depleted some other stronger options such as Marceau, Salem or Moskva And speaking of, we come to Moskva. Moskva has a lot of tools. Great radar, reasonable damage output, good HE, good AP, good shell ballistics, you name it. She has one glaring weakness though, if you overextend, you will die pretty quickly with bad concealment and a vulnerable broadside. She is very strong in the right hands. Napoli is a solid choice if you are unsure. She is forgiving, and will allow you to get some ok results in any case, but in my opinion lacks the potential to really stand out as a top ship in this list. TL;DR: The harder ships are also stronger and more fun (Salem, Marceau, Moskva) The easier ships can still be a ton of fun, but are also a bit weaker (Napoli, Yoshino, Neustrashimy) And then Pommern is not particularly easy, as you can die pretty quickly, but can be fun in specific situations Fair seas captain! ~Sera

Captains! Other Changes Submarine Tweaks The torpedo homing mechanics have been updated: At the maximum launch distance, they will home in strictly on the impact point of a sonar ping without considering the target lead. As the distance to the target decreases, torpedoes will home in with a gradually increasing lead. At a specific distance from the target, torpedoes will home in strictly on the lead point. At the same time, just like before, torpedoes stop homing when they are within a certain distance of their target. This change will allow torpedoes to home in on their target in a more natural way and reduce the frequency of situations where homing torpedoes launched in the proximity of islands at ships highlighted with a sonar ping would hit the land. Moreover, it will be somewhat easier for the target itself to dodge homing torpedoes if the sonar ping effect is removed before they hit. Other Changes The Hydrophone now becomes available some time after each battle begins. Unlike main battery or torpedo launchers, the time that the Hydrophone takes to prepare for battle is longer than its reload time. Added an underwater torpedo reticule. You can enter Training Battles playing submarines on maps that feature the underwater world. Added the indication of additional dive capacity depletion for a detected enemy submarine. Added information about the additional dive capacity depletion of detected submarines to the post-battle statistics screen. Added new tips for submarines when they launch sonar pings at a target: "The ping will be dispersed" and "Insufficient time for torpedo homing." The ship status screen that is brought up by pressing H now displays the ship's detectability from a submarine that is at the operational or periscope depths, as well as when the ship is inside a smoke screen. Added the ability to switch to torpedo launchers by pressing 3 for all submarines. Other Changes Changed the screen transition sequence after purchasing a ship: Now, when purchasing a new ship from the Tech Tree, players will be taken to the ship demonstration screen. From there, you can go to the Equipment tab, to the Port, or back to the Tech Tree. Ships can now be purchased from the ship viewing window. Added the "To Tech Tree" button to the ship viewing window. Added the underwater world to the following maps: Ring, Defense of Naval Station Newport, Operation Killer Whale, and Raptor Rescue.

Captains! Along with the next weekly update of combat missions and random bundles containing superships, the duration of each supership rental period will increase from 1 to 2 days. This change will give you the chance to play more battles on these new ships and will also have a positive effect on the matchmaker's distribution of superships across different battles. Good luck in battle!

Hi! I will verify internally about this policy and the details. In the meantime could you please send me a personal message with your ticket number so I can take a look?

This rule is not gone. The original post mentioned that the change was from no battles (2017) to 1 battle (current). In general we will refund ships if they have only 1 single battle, this is correct. In very specific cases we may refund the ship when 2 battles are played as well, but this should not be seen as the standard, as these cases generally involve unique circumstances. And to clarify, yes, this only applies to ships bought in the armory. Hope this helps ~Sera

nothing from PT is carried over to your live account. However there are some missions on the PT which, if completed, reward you with some bonuses on the live server, namely community tokens. Apart from those missions nothing is copied from PT to Live. ~Sera

Captains! German Battleships When Update 0.10.11 goes live, the German Tier III–X battleships will become available for all players to research. Sound Presets Added a sound preset system. The game currently has numerous sliders and parameters to set up the sound, which can be difficult and time-consuming for some players to figure out. Sound presets allow you to adjust the sound image of the game to your preferences in just a couple of clicks. Added sound presets: Standard: Default sound settings. Cinematic: Sound effects are brought to the foreground; the sound is vivid and saturated. Simplified: The volume of sound effects is reduced; additional sounds are disabled. This setting helps focus your attention on in-game notifications. Night: The settings are optimized for playing at low and medium volumes; at the same time, all effects and notifications are preserved. Custom: Gives you the ability to set up the game sound yourself using the fine-tuning sliders. Sound presets can be selected in the game settings. The Standard preset is active by default.

Hi! If you have not played in a while, the icons for both modes were updated. This is what is new. ~Sera

Public Test 0.10.11 - German Battleships & Sound presets
Seraphice replied to Seraphice's topic in Archive
Your Live account is periodically mirrored to your Public Test account. Meaning that you will have access to the ships you have on the live server on the Public test server as well. The other way around will not be the case as you receive a lot of free credits, doubloons, premium time, coal and ships on the Public Test Server to ensure players can test things to their fullest extent. ~Sera -
She will be available to obtain for free on the live server, but you will not receive her on the live server if you obtain her on the Public Test Server. We try to use representations of the dockyards of how they were during the time period the game is set in, generally from the 1st to 2nd world war. On the Public Test Server you receive credits, doubloons, coal and premium time for free. It is also not possible to purchase additional resources on the Public Test Server with real world currencies. You will be able to complete and play her on the live server. Did you have the game pre-patched? In that case this should not have happened. Please reach out to customer support if you have any issues with the PT Client. ~Sera

We are happy to hear it :)

Hi! A lot of users already mentioned what some of the factors may be and gave some good gameplay advice, but I'll tune in as well Yamato dispersion is some of the best in the game. She has a very high sigma (a value that determines shell grouping) and generally good dispersion due to the IJN dispersion curve Getting closer like other users mentioned will improve your natural dispersion, but more importantly, it will make landing said shells easier. Don't get too close however as yamato does not excel at close ranges due to the slow turrets and generally terrible armor up close, especially with her cheek being a big vulnerability. Like the user above me mentioned, a replay would be very valuable in assessing what you could do to improve. ~Sera

PSA: Scheduled maintenance and Clan Battles
Seraphice replied to Seraphice's topic in News & Announcements
It affects only the NA primetime, but you can also play on NA prime time on EU, hence why this is relevant for all servers. Hope this explains it. ~Sera
