Alright so lets just get this out of the way I dont play CV at all i play all of the other classes but not CV. I do feel like this update feels like a April fools joke, reasons i will explain bellow.
Firstly this rework I feel like has just messed over the whole player base and i am talking to the CV players too but i will get to that.
So DD's i feel like have been hit very hard, as a class i enjoy playing because of its slightly bigger freedoms and the ability to adapt and the thrill of high risk high reword is great. However now a stealthy DD that is considered 'AA build', such as the Fletcher (i understand its not the most stealthy but it is compared to others at a 5.8km detection.) gets detected almost from the spawn by the rocket planes that fly at a absurd speed, furthermore the AA just feels both lack lustre and OP at times its a flip of a coin it feels but mostly the former. Now this would not be as much of a problem if the CV had a limit to how many planes it could send out. But as explained in iChasegaming's video the CV player can do one run suffer some losses but the attack still proceeds most of the time, now the moment F is pressed the planes can no longer be targeted by AA so the CV player can instantly have another set of planes up without a waiting penalty. This can cause a very frustrating moment not only for the DD who can just be spotted over and over without much of a time gap between un spotted and spotted. Meaning a DD player is forced to use their smoke screen on cool down, but then we have another problem Radar. The moment a DD pops a smoke a radar cruiser will just re spot them so a escape from danger using stealth just doesn't matter. This leads me to think that stealth just becomes pointless which is that classes trait. Now in the old patch there was a window in which a DD could escape re locate, stealth up. Now i see DDs just staying with the fleet not even bothering to cap or spot because the moment anyone breaks away from the body of ships they dont last a minute. Also the CV player now just spam planes and make everyone's life a pain, i do not see how a CV is now tactical apart from sending wave and wave spotting ships and occasionally doing damage. I feel for the CV players too as they have to do this more selfish style of play in order to get damage, it feels the tactical thinking in terms of protecting Bombers with Fighters and countering other CVs doesnt give the feel of actually doing something useful. Its just a damage farm whilst the other slug it out and let RNG do the deciding.
Now Cruisers and Battleships who are AA spec. They too feel hit hard especially ships such as the Worcester and Montana who we can agree have a good AA when built for it. What surprises me is how easily planes can gt through the AA. It feels like the stats on paper mean nothing. Furthermore the AA consumable which used to be defensive fire now feels like a very weak consumable. It lasts for under a minute which is fair, but the issue is the rate the CV player can send out waves of planes. So before the CV would be punished for going into the Defensive Fire with their plane but now the CV would just send wave after wave after wave into it with no punishment as the moment the planes died they would have more to send in. So how do you combat this. Camping. You camp more in your battleships and cruiser and even destroyers because of the safety in numbers. Hardly anyone pushes caps. Why? because the moment they do they will not last long enough to cap out due to every ship camping. Now it feels like you get rewarded for selfish play and staying behind everyone whilst they get focuses one by one. Yes this was a occurrence before but i feel like it happened less and less till now. Everyone suffered in this update some more than others but the fun just drained out of the game within not even a week of the update.
My suggestion for a fix. Bring back the old carriers.I would much rather get AP bombed in a BB than have this hectic game play. I am fortunate to have decent situational awareness but i know that not everyone can focus on so many things at once, honestly even i dont know whats happening half of the time.
On a positive note I do like the Lunar event and the sound of the AA. Other than that this update has been very disappointing and game breaking . The game is loosing fun and its not the case of i want to play World of Warships for fun but because i paid for for some premium ships so it is a waste to stop when i put money into something. Other than that nothing is really pulling me in.
I hope this gets fixed in a way that benefits the majority of the player base and makes the game fun again. Lets take this rework as a lesson to move forward nd make the game fun, because thats what a game is supposed to be fun.
