    Im not sure either will make them good Higher torp alpha will make them better then they are right now. Torps are somewhat unreliable though. HE pen would make them easier to play vs BBs and cruisers. But mainly I just dont see the logic in keeping their penetration values as they are, when the same caliber gun gets better penetration on cruisers, carriers and BBs.

    Maybe! I agree that the 14800 damage on the torps is a bit low, as is the 10km and 10.5km range on t9 and t10. But on lower tiers the torps are quite nice. I find the guns more lacking, every z23 I met in this ranked sprint was basicly a free kill. And to be honest, no HE pen buff or torp buff would change that anyway, but atleast they could fight cruisers and battleships easier.
  3. I bought some gold with a 30% discount. Bought premium time at 50%, some crates (20 big) and the Atlanta using the 20% coupon. Im saving the 25% one if something interesting is added before the summer.
  4. 46 games I fu**ed it up today by really wanting to rank out fast and not having any patience. I notsered my way to 6 losses, sneaky Islands . I did however play quite a lot of different ships, witch also cost some wins. Le Terible and Le Fantasque, probably the best DDs for this mode, together with Kidd. Akizuki was Good as was Harekaze. Cossak and Lightning were ok, but fighting Cruisers in them is hard, vs DDs and BBs they are fine. I played Benson, Lo Yang, Kagero and Asashio just for the laugh and never lost in them. The only ship i couldnt bring myself to play was z23, its just bad vs everything in this format. I also just realized that I dont have the Hisenyang for some reason.

    I lost one because the lovely bug that locks you in port, had to restart my computer. Unlike you I will probably loose more before the end though. Went for the daily 200% bonus and I have lots of t8 DDs. I am however proud of killing an Amalfi in my Ognevoi with only guns.

    Yes not having speed or smoke to disengage will be a huge problem. As you said they will be hard to play.

    Rise of CV population?

    In the time I have been playing (3 years soon) I have never seen as many CVs in the queue. And it feels like 9 out of 10 games have a CV in them. Its probably just 7 or 8 but it does feel like the CV population is higher right now.

    My first thought was no CV. But in honesty if WG wants them in the game, they should be in all game modes. The fact that they are unbalanced and unfun to play against should be adressed instead.

    That is elemental. Im not arguing that smart DD-play at the start of the game is avoiding the initial air-strikes and staying close enough to your team that you can run to friendly AA. Also using smoke to avoid taking damage unnesesarily. But playing like that the whole game is not how you win games. At some point you leave your team to spot, cap and do damage. As it is right now, no DD has enough AA to take down enough planes to survive strikes that way, your build does not matter. You survive by trixs and tactic. Vs about 80-90% of CVs I can last a significant time just by "dodgeing". But if the CV is any good. And we are talking the top 10% maybe less I feel completely helpless. No tricks will work. They will hit me no matter what I do. I would like us to be on equal footing (DDs and CVs). If Im good enough I should have a chance to avoid drops. Just like I can avoid torps and main battery volleys. To me that would be fair and good game design. Or if they want to go the potato-route. Let us build AA strong enough to be virtually imune to strikes, at the expence of other useful skills.

    That is the core of the problem right there. I really sould'nt complain to much as I probably kill 2-3 CVs for every CV that gets me. And Im not having any problems keeping my WR above 70%, playing only DDs. Point being that good CV-players are rare, but when you do find one and try to play them in a DD its game over. There are no counters except moving to the "blob". And I think skill should still be a factor on the DD-players part. Not just running and hiding.

    Im sad to say that you are right in your realization. AA on DDs is not worth bothering with. I have removed all AA modules and run Spood beast on all DDs that have to choose between that and def AA. On Grozovoi for example you get it for free so why not use it. The core problem is exactly what you describe. If the CV wants you and is decent you can only try to waste his/her time and will have little to do with the battle results.

    When you play it dont forget that those guns are IJN. The HE punch is no joke even If the reload takes for ever. You cant hunt things down with the guns, but learn to controle the engagement and kite. I have killed everything from Minotaurs to Khabas with them. Even a pre nerf Mogador. But that is by trading smart, kiting and hitting my shots. Also learn to use your back guns as a shield. The ship is slender and sits low in the water, they will miss you a lot while you are kiting away, and your back guns will shatter lots of DD HE.

    I bought the Harekaze and only played 5 games so far. Only 2 of those were 2000xp +. I cant say its bad but so far I find it hard to make it work. Its a struggle as your main weapon is the guns and your range and speed is crap. Asashio is easy mode, I play it to wind down and relax. I have about 600 games, almost all solo, between the normal and the Black one. For whatever reason The Black is slightly better 212 games and 65.09% WR, the normal one 365 games and 63.56% WR. Whatever people say its a great ship. Learn to overcome its downsides and you will be a better player for it.

    Hmm... Thats it, isnt it. If regular CV-players could do more then drool on their keyboards most classes, not only DDs would be unplayable. Well we will always have t2...

    Stop picking on him, he is not wrong. This having atleast one CV in each game is messing with my WR. 21 days is down to 70%
