We're all noobs when we start... Every veteran player came through the same disadvantages this guy is complaining about.... Again, how easy do people want this game to be? There have to be distinctions between levels or else what's the point....

You are because you just confirmed why Tier X games in WG are so bad.... those people 'who do not Level Boost' are when they reach the higher levels competent and capable of playing at that Tier and are an asset to a team not a dead-weight.... Thank you.

Are you really that dumb? In Guild Wars someone at Level 5 cannot buy into a Level 20 top level game.... Why is that do you think?

Every DD main has gone through this... the minute you get to level 10 problem solved... in the mean time you play to your ship strengths. I mean how easy do you want this game?

Guild Wars 1 & 2 ... Unless you've reached a certain level of the game you cannot participate in the higher level games or events whatsoever and there is NO BUY IN to do so....

Rubbish... Football: You start in Juniors and learn the game. You then play for the reserves or you play in the lower leagues on loan spells before they consider you for the main team. Tennis: You play as an Amateur first before you join the professionals. Golf: You play as an Amateur first before becoming a professional.... Snooker is the same: Amateur games first leading to competition games then to the professional games if you're good enough.... WG: Get to any Tier and buy a Tier X ship and join Tier X games... It's YOU that are incorrect and as to calling players a liar when you're in the wrong ....

Yes Tier X games are becoming a pain, yes it appears that so many Premium Ship Captains haven't got a clue how the game works... I have an idea that might fix the camping, Island hugging Numpties... We can report players for various things in game so why not camping? If the team feels a specific player IS NOT playing as part of the team they can report said player as a camper non participant... there are 12 players in random so if a player gets 6 or more camper votes he gets punished. The team decides in game there and then, after all they are in their game are they not... The punishment for said violation is having to play the Ocean Map for 10 consecutive games... With the amount of campers in game they'll not wait long for their games. Or WG @MrConway why not introduce more maps with fewer Islands or bring the Ocean map back? (I miss Ocean)

I have: Asashio and Asashio-B, Cossack, Kidd, Tirpitz, Massa-B and Kaga. As a DD my T VIII are a match for any Tier X... I have plenty of higher tier kills... As a BB not so much, you really need to be smart and aware. However, team up and support Tier IX or Tier X and you can achieve great things.. I have had Citadels off Tier X ships. (Bold type are the ships I got for free.)

Would you recommend RL on a Minotaur? If not how would you use the 4 skill points?

Well I suppose they've got to keep the 10 year olds interested and everybody else.... No effort, fire a homing torpedo and boom.... Who's going to want to play surface ships after that? Wait didn't they do that with 8.0?

Since games began to throw in 2 and sometimes 3 CV's per side I am afraid my lower tier DD's sit idle... I start from Tier 7 now.... @MrConway allowing up the 3 CV's per side in lower tier games is really going to keep the interest of new players isn't it... I mean if you're continually being dumped on by CV's where's the fun in that? Potentially 9 players of a team being on and if this happens game on game.... They're not going to uninstall the game are they?

Given the games I have had recently I prefer solo play, if you put faith in a team and they fail then likely as not so do you.. As a solo player I am free to make choices that I think benefit the team best and if some of the team click to what i am doing all the better. There will be games, when having looked at the lineup, I go full attack mode, games where I can be defensive and others where I have to reach out into the enemy zones avoiding going for caps... I have had low damage games that had me behind the enemy team for almost the entire game keeping them spotted... Occasional games where I have actively hunted and taken out the enemy CV.. In each DD game I have the lineup tells me the style of play i will choose. Know you enemy ships, know their strengths and weaknesses... you play better and are more effective. There are other tricks but they stay with me....

A real to the wire game... with early Suicides and BB's that must have had Yellow paint I am part of four ships that save the game and make the win... With a Salem, because two Cowardly BB's run, we hold off between us 7 enemy ships.. still the majority of ships refuse to accept that to leave RADAR untouched disables the DD's and as a result I could not be as free as I would like to have been... So I am pushed back by Donskoi and Des Moines allowing the BB's to move through... The enemy FDG, Bismarck, Yamato and Sov Soyuz advance screened as they are by the radar cruisers..The FDG goes North with Donskoi trying to flank me. Kronstadt comes to my aid as does Yoshino and Kronstadt obliterates the DM with a single salvo however we lose Salem to Yamato at the same time.. The enemy Donskoi is committed and is on the northern boundary chasing me down in a SE direction with the FDG in tow... Allied Yoshino fires at Donskoi and thankfully the Donskoi focuses on him instead of me... It gives me the time to work into the FDG and at 6.6km I pop 7 torps into him... Donskoi inexplicably continues chasing the Yoshino so I turn south to attack the BB's.. I first take out the Bismarck with a single salvo and work in for the Sov Soyuz with the next.. Our only decent BB the GK takes 3 kills in 5 minutes (Yamato being the most vital) but succumbs to Thunderer despite me telling him not to fire until I can smoke him up.. guess he got carried away...but (+1) Unfortunately our Yoshino is sunk by the Donskoi (+1 Brother) so Donskoi attempts to get back into play.. I close into the only enemy cap left and at 8km I fire torpedoes at Thunderer; but he changes course almost immediately and they're wasted. So I fire up the smoke and up with my guns I distract the Thunderer from the Kronstadt coming through from B; Kronstadt burst out from the Islands and Thunderer is no more in two salvoes... At that point I decide to leave the smoke, not a second too soon, as Donskoi blind fires the very spot I was sitting... with limited HP I would have been history. We win the game... No Bandicam... would have been a great video.

I am not knocking your post in the slightest, but, I used EM because other more experienced Cruiser Captains (Which I am not by any means) said it was a good skill to have... As with everything it is trial and error and what works for one may not work for another... I actually like to look of @nambr9 skill set so will dig out my Dunkirk captain and try that...

What would you use then?

Just curious as to the preferences of fellow Gunboat DD players and why? I prefer HE always as AP doesn't give me the results... I am after all a pyromaniac.

That'll do MASHUM that'll do... Now that was a fun game.... CV got me just before we hit 1,000 points ( His only kill too)... Just looked at my Karma.... down - 3....lmao.

1st Game in and this was over by 9 minutes.... 2nd game in, but by God you can tell it's the weekend... Massa dead in 5 minutes, Tirptiz in 6, Cossack wanted to take on everyone and was dead straight after Tirptiz.... no support for MASHUM throughout the whole game as the team just melted away... Like a giant Snow cone. Still good numbers.... for a defeat.

Certainly NOT naive... the idea is a good one but human nature being what it is...

An excellent Shimakaze game... Capped C and held it against 5 ships with an allied Stalingrad and Monarch... Still using my 8km @ 80 knot torpedoes and using tactical smoke to keep my allies hidden at crucial points of the defense.... Smolensk and Gearing both pure RL kills, no visuals just fired at the marker... and North Carolina ate 5 torps (although only 1 registered)... Smolensk and Gearing never knew what hit them... We held off all comers, in fact we never left C for the total length of the game... obviously Monarch and Stalingrad couldn't leave as they were sunk late in the game... Allied Azuma came in towards the end after securing B and pushed the enemy Yoshino to the north border line...

@HotshotJimmy I suggested this idea oh around a year ago and it was correctly pointed out that farmers could invade the game and sell off collected XP, Credits etc etc etc for real coin. Lazy players, with money, will then buy their way to the top and make the game a total show....
