With Torpedo Acceleration you can get Asashio Torpedoes down to 16km @ 75 knots and yes their detection range is 0.9km.

I have the 6.4km and nothing escapes but you have to be extremely attentive to the targets movements...

Yes it doesn't make any sense at all... Are you sure on your torpedo speeds though? My 8km are 80 knots, my 12km are 70 knots and my 20km are 65 knots..

@Bender76048k That looks the way to go now for the Shimakaze... I am also still having amazing success with long range torpedoes and if I have an opportunity to close in for a kill 20km hampers me not one bit (They are still just as lethal) even the fact they can be spotted from 2.5km saves nobody.

I have to say I have experienced the same over the last three weeks, or it has become more noticeable... your shells fire and it's like they lose all drive before they belly flop into the water short of their target... Annoying when, as the OP states, you have a broadside Cruiser just itching to be splatted and you fire expecting great results only to find you miss completely... I have mentioned this repeatedly to WG via tickets.

I got the mission via Twitch, it's a long grind for sure. Thankfully as I have two permanent Camo's anyway for Bismarck it isn't a real loss if I don't complete it... Funnily enough though every game, bar one, played in a German ship yesterday was a win.. so I am already over a third through the first part.

I have just been playing COOP today to finish off part of the Dockyard challenge... and just looking at my Karma it's dropped 10 points from this morning... Not been pink, not been abusive, just grinding the main battery tally... Some real sad little bots today....

Lmao me hiding my stats... my Shimakaze is 49% my WR in total is 48% for all ships and it was 43% not so long ago. My DD WR is 58% for all of my DD's... My Stats are my own business and mine to hide if I choose.

You obviously don't play yours very well then... she isn't outclassed at all so maybe it's the Captain that is.

In just over 16 months I have taken my Shima to 49% from 38%... It should be higher but like everyone else I have had runs where my teams are... well not the best and no amount of carrying can help. Whenever I play her it is total... Mini Map, Situation awareness, RF and always be ready to run if necessary... and KNOW enemy radar like the back of your hand. My best result is 6 kills....

You are in a game with other live players, or Bots if you play COOP. As a DD main I too learned the hard way too: Don't fire any torpedoes if there is the possibility they will hit a team mate or that a team mate could turn into them. Before you fire know your range from target, know where your allies are. You didn't fire them maliciously, you fired them carelessly and as a result you are pink.... 6 clear games and it will be gone. Welcome to the PINK CLUB...

I don't know sometimes... but if I can make a success of 20km torps .. I might keep them.. At least any Island hugging radar ship can be moved or even sunk if it is tightly hugging an island... I need to try something different because I am losing the enjoyment factor.... some players seem thick to the point of setting...

If you stagger them nobody avoids them even if they see them... or at least that's how they worked in my three games tonight. Just got so tired with games where the teams don't work for the benefit of the DD anymore which usually means DD's die and the game is lost... some real stupid BB players out there lately... I had one game tonight in my Yugumo where an Izumo and Iowa who were with me had a BB and an Alaska to their front... I am repeatedly begging for them to kill Alaska and do you think they fired on it once; In fact the Alaska sank them both leaving me with no cover and a radar ship to deal with..

So do I or 8km @ 80knots, but if your team isn't moving enemy radar or attacking it, given most ships you seem to face are equipped with 12km radar, you're in a bind from the very start.... and as i have said I have had more kills, more hits than using any of the others even 6.4km @ 85knots.

Post how you do.... might be the thing to put Shimakaze back up... and radar Cruiser back down.
