Roma does not live up to the hype

There is some twisting what I wrote and then there is this. The bit in bold is not true. I said there are poorer guns than Roma's at her tier and I stand by that. Not that there are worse ships than Roma. That doesn't mean she's the worst ship either, before you jump to conclusions. I'm not agreeing with you nor making your argument stronger. Learn to read, FFS. Bismark's guns are poor. So are Roma's to an extent, she still has one gun more though and deal more damage to begin with. Yes, no one has denied Roma's dispersion is poor, but she has other very good characteristics to compensate for this, so swings and roundabouts. She has better concealment than Bismark, is faster and is much more agile. And you are still doing better in her than with Bismark. Are you italian per chance or particularly infatuated with Roma? Or are you one of those that believe a premium ship should be better in just about anything than their same tier silver counterparts? Because other than that, I just can't get your point. Myself, I'm glad WG has released a BB that has weaknesses as well as strenghts. Therefore, balanced. In fact, tier VIII BBs are some of the better balanced ships in game per class/tier. Which is not something you can say about VII and IX for example.

Roma does not live up to the hype

Bismark a sniper compared to Roma? Christ on a bike, I've heard it all now. Not only it has one gun less and they do less damage, they are also notoriously poor at range and not particularly good against other BBs even at close ranges. You can give both ships 28km range they will still be poor. Roma has also better concealment, speed and is nimbler. Finally, players seem to be doing fine with Roma, btw (you have almost +15k with her than with Bismark for the love of god) and unlike someone that owns a Flint or a Black, there is no indication that only unicums have bought her. You being a case in point. There will always be a worst tier cruiser, just like there is a best tier one. That's life. And Hipper is not a very weak ship by any stretch of the imagination, unless you compare it to Kutuzov, and we know where that OP ship has ended. Maybe you don't play her to her strengths. Which she has. Pensacola is a nice ship, again, you have to know how to play her. Anyway, what kind of argument is that that you cannot grind a premium ship towards a better one? You knew what you were buying. You're all over the shop mate.

Roma does not live up to the hype

Yeah, nah. There is a whole line of BBs in game with poor guns compared to IJN, USA or RN BBs. Poorer than Roma's too in her tier. They are doing fine and are played a lot.

    Help for the Iowa

Absolutely no reason why you shouldn't be hitting more (and harder) with Iowa than with KM BBs. US shell velocity and arcs might be playing tricks with you if you're used to KM ballistics but other than that, nope, Iowa's guns are excellent.

Roma does not live up to the hype

I'm not sure what WG's intention was giving Roma better concealment than quite a few cruisers in game. You certainly don't need such a fantastic concealment in order to brawl. It's more likely they designed her as a hit and run cruiser-like BB rather than a pure brawler, armor notwithstanding. Another thing entirely different is players who want her to be something which she ain't. And another problem is, in order to force most of the playerbase to brawl and close support at caps you'd need to give a BB: Cruiser concealment (because it's no use being HE spammed from 16km out) Very good armor (because it's no use having to angle) Superb close range guns (because it's all about hitting and damage, right?) Torp. Protection (because torp wall skill) AA (because planes) Secondaries (because why not) A pair of b... There are IMO 3 main characteristics to balance a BB: Guns, Armor, Concealment/Mobility. And one of these should always be lacking (I'm looking specially at you, Conqueror) and further balance/diversity should be achieved through other stats/modules/gimmicks/whatever. And all BBs should have higher citadels.

    JUGUEMOS A BALANCEAR LOS PORTAVIONES

Prezackerly.

    Fiji, my new favorite ship.

Eeeek? There is no captain skill that will increase your torps' range. There is one (level 2) that decreases it, your torps gaining +5 knots instead. Vigilance means you are able to spot torpedoes earlier

  14. I was more on about a DD's decission to start shooting when the enemy BB is on 2k instead of 10k and asking if that was steal killing or simply the DD being smart, waiting until he is more sure he's not gonna lose half his HP and then help. I wouldn't say it's steal killing myself. I can't see the point in launching torps against a target you know he will be gone by the time your torps arrive, but I can see why most players do it (myself included eh?) even though those torps usually end up being a threat to your team mates. Shooting at a bow on cruiser when you are sailing a 30 sec reload BB is not generally a good idea. Again, the situation may call for it, but generally speaking I'd rather wait 15 secs to have a better angle or even shoot at another target entirely. Did I even say I'd wait 1-2 minutes to shoot someone? Don't put words in my mouth. Yeah, maybe. Maybe I've already shot the other guns at another target near by. Stupid, sure, because RNG and dispersion. But that was my point. Securing a kill is everything. Overkill is probably what happens most of the time but it pays off to be on the safe side.
  15. Bit of a hard reading that. Still none the wiser what that has to do with what I wrote. Particularly since you have quoted my bit about DDs doing the (not in my view) steal killing, rather than the next paragraph which was related to BBs, but hey ho. There are plenty of stupid BB and DD players (lets not go into CV players) out there but that was never the point from OP (AFAIK) nor mine. That those BBs in your match chose to finish off the enemy BB was not the problem. That they chose not to engage in the game at all was. Just like those line hugging DDs who don't want to cap/scout or that Des Moines I encountered this morning who was spamming HE from max range in Trap (A) instead of using his radar to help defend B.
  16. So what about those DDs opening fire when the enemy BB is down to 2K? Are they kill stealing or doing their bit when he won't be insta-deleted? What about those launching torps that have absolute zero chance of ever hiting the target because half the team is already shooting at it? Are they kill stealing to? When on a BB you have one salvo every 25-30 secs. You have to make them count. Shooting at a bow on cruiser with poor dispersion means you will be lucky with a couple of hits. Same cruiser takes a beating from other angles and veers right/left and suddenly the skies open. This has nothing to do with the extremely bad player who camps at max range, no matter the ship he's sailing. 9 out of 10 times, it is always better to secure the kill. In a way it is not dissimilar to firing just one turret, thinking that'd be enough, because, you know, 5 km out, perfect broadside to my guns, other targets around... and then RNG happens.

    Ranked octava sesion

    Jack Dunkirk on Minotaur

Sitting currently on KGV and Duke of York, where EM is needed. On Mino EM is completely unnecessary. Manual AA on Mino (or Hindenburg for that matter) is overkill, you get to see a CV in 1 out of 10 battles, and there is a good chance he will avoid you like the plague (funnily enough, thinking that you are probably heavily AA specced) anyway. Same reason I use hydro on both Hindenburg and Kutuzov. You get to use it more often than DefAA given the lack of carriers in top tiers.
