ARA Nueve de Julio - a ship famous as a political prison
Taliesn replied to Aragathor's topic in General Discussion
Aaaaaaand I have to stop you right there. The same justification could and would have been used by Germany or Japan had they dropped an atomic bomb over Manchester or Seattle. But we all know it would have been a crime against humanity had it been the case. As it should be. Crimes against humanity not being part of any international legal frame prior to the Nurenberg trials by the way. Created for the ocasion, as it happens. So again, the Dresden bombing crap went unpunished because it was the Allies doing it. Rules of Engagement, ha. Finally, and only slightly tongue in cheek, I would like for Hood to be removed from the game because it participated in the cowardly attack on the french fleet at Mers-el-Kebir. Oh, and Indianapolis for delivering parts of the Hiroshima atomic bomb that caused the death of some 140k-150k people, most of whom were innocent civilians, and for giving Nicholas Cage the excuse for another crap movie. -

Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.

There was a thread about lemming trains but I might as well post this one here. Huge lemming train on Ocean, only bothering about capping C after 7 minutes into the game. Point is, we won handsomely and IIRC only lost one ship at the very end. Edit: Now with soopah green arrow. -
Indianapolis Marathon (01.06. - 16.07.)

Did it with Normandie without even looking for it, 1 assited capture and 2 defended ribbons. Only 2 missions to go IIRC. -
Erm... I read this, then I look at your stats, and everything becomes clear. It is not only a Shima that will out spot you. Every DD you will face -bar Khabas- will have a 1.5 to 2km cushion to perma spot you. Frankly, no amount of minimap watching will counter that huge gap. Also, it probably means you are never capping and forever reacting to what other DDs are doing whilst you try to burn some BB. Oh, and if you are one of only 2 DDs in the match you are severely hampering your team's effort.
-
Problem with that detection is you cannot cap unless late game and in very specific circumstances. And even if 7,4 is a good range to engage other DDs at, you are counting on them opening fire or someone doing the spotting for you. If the enemy DD doesn't open fire (and I wouldn't) it will shadow and perma spot you for his team mates to sink you. In other words, you are running a cruiser-lite (which is fine eh?, each to their own, just not my cup of tea) I'm running: PM AR, LS SE, SI BFT, CE SE's 3500hp+ is huge (even more so if you have access to repair party) and mandatory on pretty much every DD, torpboats included.

I guess by combining special flags, camos and relentlessly playing that one ship it's doable but holy crap! I hate playing one ship over and over again (I got fed up of Des Moines after the Halsey campaign)
-
I'll go for the Grozovoi, Hindenburg, and Moskva ones. It'll take ages though.
-
So Missouri is bad. I see, as you were.
-
Worcester + Legendary Module + Radar Module will probably the combo that gives you the longest duration AND then you have the added bonus of a fast RoF.
-
Eeeek? Why would they make Alaska a bad ship if it's for FreeXP? Missouri and Musashi are anything but bad ships. Kronshtadt doesn't look half bad. All three FreeXP. So no, that is a false dichotomy.
-
A lot of people will be angry because this is one of those ships people have been waiting for. So if the market is one where you need to be a very good player in a very good Clan to get a shot at her, then you are automatically putting 90% of the player base outside that market. That is stupid beyond. FreeXP is something every player can get in any way they want, be it by playing 10,000 battles in coop or by combining premium with camos and flags (which you have ways of acquiring from time to time) for a faster approach. Wether you spend that FreeXP on ship grind or Alaska is up to you as well. I'd guess Coal would be an option but why change it?
-
Well the gain was already marginal given Russian radar has a short duration, it is even more marginal now. Kronshtadt cannot squeeze even one extra salvo now. It could, just, manage it before the nerf if I'm not mistaken. Of course in an ideal scenario your team mates would all shoot the DD at first sight but since we are talking mostly random that 's not always the case. So yes, DCS Mod 1 is more viable now.
-
Because not all people play CW, and many who play would not get enough Steel anyway, oh and good luck banking on SCs to get you that needed Steel. FreeXP you can get from playing in ANY ship, tier and match type including Coop. If they are not going to put her directly on sale for 240,000,000€ then it makes sense to go the FreeXP route. It would be pretty stupid of WG to put a ship like Alaska behind a steel wall really.

Out of curiosity, which language does he speak?

I've faced a Yamato shooting HE throughout the match. A bl00dy Yamato of all things. There is so much explaining you can do. Some people with just never learn.

Indianapolis Marathon (01.06. - 16.07.)
Taliesn replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
Doing it as I play, the only mission I actively went out of my way to get was the 20 (or was it 30?) plane kills by playing a CV (which is something I rarely do) The marathon is anything but grindy, one mission every 2 days, or 2 on weekends, you can miss a few, and most are very doable. As opposed to the Halsey campaign but then that campaign you can do it in months if you don't feel like rushing it. And I own the Indianapolis already. -
You are missing that as a tier IX you are facing plenty of Yamatos and Montanas with very strong and accurate AP and Des Moines, Zaos and Hindenburgs that can HE spam you to death. And many others obviously. FdG is a brawler but you need to be extremely careful when to go below the 12km range to make those secondaries work. At that range the guns are ok. Not superb, but ok. And your armor can withstand some punishment, provided you are not focused. So again, it's all about WHEN to brawl.

Which kinda validates my point. Put very good torps on the UK DD line but neft their concealment (better than the IJN counterpart in some tiers!) or gun DPM because well, torp line, and some people will rage, because radar meta means you can't get close enough to lauch torps and you don't have the guns/range to daka-daka... Out of Concealment/Guns/Torps, there must be some weakness, otherwise we will have another DD line that powercreeps the IJN DDs. -

And here's the thing, there is a finite number of ways in which a new line can be "new" unless you go the gimmick way. I fail to see what the problem is with this line, not until we can play it anyway. No DD line is full of superb DDs. Finally, can you put some meat on the bolded bit? I own (or have played) every silver DD in game except for Yueyang and I'm pretty sure that that "with the same stats but better torpedoes" doesn't hold water bar maybe a couple one vs one comparisons, certainly not on a tier by tier basis. -

Yeah, nah, a well balanced torp line (aka, lousy guns) would still mean rage. For a line that hasn't even been tested yet btw. -

If only... 4km Ultra suicide torps more like in the case of SU cruisers (except Dmitri Donskoi with 8km ones) Got the feeling that if WG had designed the UK DDs as great torp boats with lousy guns the rage would be the same. -

150 hits one I did with Minoutaur, 2nd try was a win, so easy enough. For the 30 planes I went with Independence. 2 CVs per team and the allied CV does a strafe on my own fighter group not 2 minutes into the game... -
Yup, he was the first and only zombie ever to circumnavigate the world (given that he died in the Philippines half way through the trip...) Also, claiming the discovery of India and China! Wow
-
Yup, what ColonetPete said. Differences in stats are pretty small in favour of one ship or the other (usually NO) The radar on Indianapolis is nice but with a reload of 14+ secs you are not getting more than 2 salvoes off it before it goes to cooldown. And having it doesn't necessarily mean you should play her differently from NO.
