Ah thanks, I sold Kiev a soon as I researched the next ship in the line. Udaloi I've enjoyed, fully specced so something like 6,7 concealment if memory serves right? 200m seems a very narrow margin for a Yueyang.

Unicum players being rude IG, what to do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Taliesn replied to Linkaex's topic in General Discussion
in fairness to him it is not and never was. Then again there are some caps you can try. C in Atlantic (that was the map in question) rarely attracts more than 2-3 ships if at all, people preferring to lemming train to A.- 167 replies

Very hard to keep your mouth shut sometimes and I've been guilty of a few warning shots. One thing is not play well (we all do) and another completely different is to throw away a game by being incredibly thick. I'm not a particularly competitive person (I don't play ranked anymore) but potato playing has an impact on my fun. On the other hand, there is a good chance the enemy team has a many potatoes as yours, so you always have to keep that in mind and try to take a chill pill, you never know how it will turn out. Two DDs yesterday, Khaba spawns cear C, sails to B (but parallel, never getting near it), Shima spawns in front of B, sails to C. Halfway through they cross each other and both decide to turn back, Khaba goes back to C, Shima goes back to B. Still neither DD entered the caps. If they were doing some Swan Lake dance, that's fine. Game wise, it was 4 minutes lost. But guess what, we won. A forumite a couple days ago, 2 seconds into the game says "Match is lost". "How so?" I replied. "Enemy team is better" he said. We won that too, and quite easily, with minutes to spare.- 167 replies

Every DD from tier 8 to 10 except Khaba (maybe Tashkent?) can be specced below that 6.5km concealment if I'm not mistaken. That means you will be spotted first always. You need a lot of buffs to make the option worth it over the Slot 5 concealment module, for either DD or CA (and arguably BBs too) I already have Grozovoi's. It's nice, torp reload is sh$t beyond but they are crap-ish anyway. On the last stage on Hindenburg's, Slot 5 again but the buffs will make you even more tanky so probably worth it. Stage 4, 13/15 victories on Moskva's. I'll loose 2 seconds reload with LM but the accuracy will be hilarious, even at 21km. Stage 3, 12,000/15,000 FreeXP on Kurfurst. Better reload for both main and secondary guns and turret rotation (compared to the malus from Main Battery Mod 3) in exchange for 1km range. What's not to like? Stage 2 Yamato, I just don't have enough time. Stage 1 Zao. It looks good but I'm so bad with this ship i won't really bother.

Leningrad... Dedicated captain or not!?
Taliesn replied to anonym_2hneAFaIyP4T's topic in Destroyers
He was available on some missions around May I think, I missed him too. And his brother. And a couple german captains (but I've got plenty of those) I think I've read somewhere they will be all available soon for credits/coal or whatever. If you are going to knife-fight, EM is a must have for any Leningrad captain IMO, up there with Last Stand as a level 2 skill. -
What he said. Be specially careful with your early approach. You will be spotted pretty soon after leaving spawn. Your guns are brilliant (and they will be even more so with the Legendary Module) You are very tanky bow on but I rather move about because if you play static, you will be focused and you'll have a hard time disengaging. Your radar is a trap early on. Duration is too short (so if your teammates do not help it will be mostly wasted) and you will need to get too close to the cap to your own good because you are huge and a juicy target. Save your hp, you can tank just about any ship in the game late in the match. Oh, and use the correct ammo depending on situation, AP is very very good and packs a punch. Finally, be extremely careful not to show your broadside and if possible do it only in concealment (and preferably a few seconds after going into concealment just in case)

What I have said is that a secondary build doesn't add any meaningful firepower to her. What I haven't said is that she is not suited for brawling. She sure can brawl better than a Neptune, a Seattle or an Ibuki. But that's not because of her secondaries but because she has hydro and more importantly the armor to stay afloat for a while. She has fewer torps than both Hipper/Eugen and Hindenburg whilst meeting pretty much the same opponents.
-
Range module is a good option as the guns' ballistics are very good but I can't see the point of a secondary build. It is sometimes hard to make it work on BBs, on cruisers like Roon you simply don't have the numbers to make it more than a nuissance. Of all the tier 9 cruisers I have played, she holds the best average damage and second WR after Seattle. But Hindenburg is a clear upgrade on her (just like every other t10 cruiser on their t9 counterparts really)
-
In-game missions could be taylored a bit more. Spot 12 torps with Moskva... I'd rather not.
-
So Sharky-Sharks, have we won yet? Side missions are as inobtrussive as it can be really. Use 5 consumables on a cruiser is just oh look no CV in game, lets pop up DefAA from the start. Come on we've seen far worse than this.

I hadn't seen a detonation for ages and since the last patch (that is, today) I have detonated once and killed an enemy ship in the same manner. Maybe something has crept back in? Or confirmation bias.
-
Quite. Sometimes there are not even enough players for a full 12 a side Random match. Had a game eary in the week with Richelieu, Ramdom match, 1 CV, 1 BB, 3 DDs per side and that was that. I was 20 to 30 secs in queue, I would rather wait a couple minutes to get the full 12vs12 to be honest, not sure why we are thrown into such a crap game.

Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.
Taliesn replied to albinbino's topic in General Discussion
No screenshot but not really worthy of another thread so I'll just bump it here. Had a game yesterday with my Richelieu, an enemy Blyska launches smoke 6-7km from a Fuso and myself and starts shooting at us. Since I know he has just launched one set of torps I hit speed boost and sail straight at his smoke. The Fuso keeps shooting at another target so the Blyska sees him but I don't so concealment kicks in and soon enough a bit over 2km away ta-daaaaaa! there is the Blyska inside his smoke, still shooting. Eight AP shells and down she goes. The most bizarre (yet civilized) conversation ensued. That I was some kind of ninja Richelieu, that assured acquisition should had kicked in but didn't, that my premium account meant I had in-game advantages not available to those who would not spend money, that I had some "speshuil" secret module... Frankly I was surprised I wasn't called a cheat in the first place. I did try to explain several times that I had stopped shooting so that I could approach the smoke undetected and that because he was still shooting he became visible inside his smoke BEFORE assured acquisition kicked in for both of us. To no avail. -
I had only one wish To remain undetected Whilst launching my fish To sail unimpeded And damage dish But then I got radared And I'm pretty squishy, you see I swiftly got roger'd Ain't that sh$t! Damn swear editor!

No it's not.

Agree on all those. Moskva's is also useful.

100.000 XP IIRC started when we had the July 4th 200% XP bonus that lasted over a week so it was relatively easy. With 50% bonus though... 8 million one, well, it is a long one. GamesCon camo + 20% credit flag and still you get some 600k out of a good/very good match. 10.000 FreeXP went fast but then I had some Papa-Papa and Ouroboros flags. 15 victories if you have a 55-60% WR should be done in some 25-28 (which is a lot obviously) This is the only one where camo and flags don't have any impact on how fast you can finish it Last one is EliteXP right? I guess a good camo and some Dragon flags should make it the fastest stage since it's relatively easy to gain 20-30k per good match.
-
Currently doing: Grozovoi: 3rd stage, 9 victories out of 15 needed Kurfurst: 2nd stage, about 5 million credits out of 8 needed Moskva: 2nd stage, 5 million Hindenburg: 2nd stage, 4 million Yamato: 2nd stage, 1 million I've played a few games with Des Moines, Montana, Zao and Minotaur but I don't intend to grind their LMs. I had some 100 GamesCon Camos and they are proving a godsend for the second stage btw.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Taliesn replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I know the feeling, I'm learning the hard way that Grozovoi's repair party is only useful if you don't get yourself killed straight away on Round 1 by the enemy DDs and island huggers behind the cap. -

Met @EdiJo last night, same team, standard game, I was in Grozovoi he was on a Zao. -
Can we get a Camouflage filter in port?? please!
Taliesn replied to Yogibjoern's topic in General Discussion
That looks like plenty of filters and combinations to me. I'd love to have the option to not see any camos AT ALL, just plain steel (cue someone telling me it's already in the game ) -
420 mm G.Kurfüst: correct penetration
Taliesn replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
Secondaries specc'd Kurfurst, I'd say definately 406s as you ideally want to be 11km away from your nearest target and that extra salvo you might squeeze from your guns can be the diffference between life and death. If you play more the middle to long range BB then you could make a case for the better pen and alpha of the 420s I guess. -
Ah, ok. Wiki states twice that reloads (with no modules) are 28 and 32 respectively. But then it says 29 on the right hand table so you may be right. If it's 28 secs then the difference (with LM) is 3,4 secs.
-
Yup, I know. It is not much in terms of DPM but it can still be the difference between having your guns ready for another salvo or not. We've all been there and at close range that extra salvo is worth a few thousand hp of damage at maybe you getting alive. Generally speaking and given the choice I will go for reload over slightly better damage (per salvo) or penetration. But I can see why others would go for the bigger guns.
-
I've never used the 420s but its reload is some 4 seconds worse than that of 406s, isn't it? A slighty better penetration and damage doesn't seem to compensate for that IMO.
