Hang on, are we still talking about World of Warships? It has never been anything other than an arcade game (except for CV's RTS) with the slightest whiff of a simulator game only because it is based on historical or nearly historical ships. But in essence it is not much different from a first person shooter and you hardly need anything other than WASD, a few other keys and a mouse.

This has always been an arcade game. Realism will only get you that far. The CV's RTS bit was, barring a few clickety masters who I'm sure enjoyed it, a jarring, totally unbalanced mess that made the difference between the one unicum player in one team and the noob in the other absolutely devastating and decided matches 9 out of 10 times from the get go. Not saying that WG has solved the problem but it is certainly better now than it was before. So well done for the arcade thingy. My point is, all these people that want an uber-competitive, elite playerbase and gameplay and believe it is WG that has failed to deliver it should rather realise that it is mostly an issue of unrealistic and sometimes contradictory expectations on their part.

Look at it this way. WoWs is a niche online game as it is. Making it more difficult for the vast majority of the playerbase (which is already small compared to other games) thus reducing it even further is a no no. Re hydro, speshiul heals, stronk HE etc it does makes sense in a way, unless you want every other BB/CA/DD to be an almost carbon copy of the rest in their category. Again, identikits and very similar playstyles would make WoWs even a more niche game. Realism would make for a very interesting game for only a handful of players. And a sure recipe for bankrupcy for WG.

Ahhhh, WOW, not WoWs. My bad. Still the reasoning applies for WoWs. You cannot see top CWs if you are not a very good player in a top competitive Clan. The day the 24,500 casual players leave WoWs the game is done.

Top Dungeons? Is there some kind of BDSM Tier you are allowed into when you are slapped 100,000 times? Not that I want to be part of it, nacht. For top content you have CWs where Clans are separated into leagues according to their skill. Not sure what you mean by subscription and paying customers anyway, since this is a ftp game and long may it continue. For everything else, you get to be a top player by precisely having the opportunity of sending to the bottom those poor noobs you so much dislike.

Sometime ago I posted reddit comments from other online games about what players (no idea if good or bad) thought of their respective playerbases. Will you be surprised if I tell you that they thought they were as dumb as the Wows playerbase? Which leads me to believe that most people approach online games (wows, fortnite, whatever) with a very casual attitude, no matter the tools or the type of game. So no, playerbase is what it is. It is not worse than it was before either. And WG needs to pander to the uninterested, casual noob because there is no business in having a few hundred very good players and nobody else because the 24,000 others can't nor want to improve.

If only you'd have read it all, including the caveats to simplify the explanation (twice)... Here is it for you: Wow, really? Even RNG cannot bend the Laws of Probability. If your Hindy has a fire chance of 13% (lets forget about captain skill, flags, other ship's modules etc) it doesn't mean you are going to get 1 fire every 13 impacts. You may get three out of a perfect 12 salvo and you may get none with the next salvo shooting at the same target (once previous fires are gone or repaired obvs) Shoot 1,000,000 times to that same target (all circumstances being equal) and I can guarantee you you will get very close to 130,000 fires (or thereabouts, and again, not accounting for the many modifiers that would apply)

Not sure what the problem is with BBs at tier X, even GK. Try playing Hindy to its supposed strengths and you'll be down in no time because everyone else is at spawn, unspotted, in smoke or behind an island... If I want to have a hussle free tier X battle I go straight to my LM Yamato or Kremlin. Secondaries GK is obviously something else but that was never specced for a nice stroll.

Funny, I usually have a hard time citadelling her on BBs. Bit like Kremlin, who should on paper (pun intended) be easily citadelled on perfect broadside but I end up with overpens and torpedo bulge hits...

That you've been around for some time, 's all. I'll start by admitting that it took me well over 3,000 battles to realise some truly stupid things about wows mechanics and stuff, but I thought that not knowing that you can get SCs out of the daily containers is something else. Bad luck to begin with, if it was your first.

Ok, let me begin with a I'm not very fond of the tin foil hat brigade and the caveat that maybe I have been very lucky in these three years I've played WoWs in getting regular SCs (choosing TYL) but it's been a while since I've seen any. And I don't see people posting theirs. So I'm thinking, has there been a nerf (ninja or not) to the SC drop rate that I'm unaware of? Or... [tinfoil hat on] is this WG being pissed off at the in-game buffs debacle?

People moving inside your smoke and kicking you out of it, yeah. Colliding with another friendly ship and accidentally using him as a torp shield. Yeah, that too. Accidents happen. I've done it too. And out of 25,000 players I'm sure there is this one guy who would park his ship right in front of you to purposedly obstruct you and get the kill but I can honestly say I have yet to meet him. On point 1, I'll take your word for it and agree that most likely he shouldn't. Nor should you (and of this I'm certain) compound his error with another one by launching torps into his path. I see you have been called out on the bolded bit by several posters but so far you have failed to explain how this marvelous feat of wows physics could happen.

Yeah, this. Republique is like those boring (IMO) super cruisers but better. Speed? Hell yeah. And 21secs reload without even AR kicking in. Nice 8km+ secondaries as well.

I got Jaguar from a container, skipped her along with Guepard and Vanquelin with FreeXP and straight into Le Fantasque with my Aigle captain, that wasn't really suitable. Enjoyed Le Fantasque. I don't think I survived a single battle on her but always took one or two with me. Mogador I enjoyed even more and sped through her thanks to ubercamos and 200%XP on Anniversary week. This will be the captain for her when I re-spec:
