Hey folks, why are you complaining ? I am thankful to WG for allowing me to spend a lot of time with my family instead of playing their game. They simply made the point right at the start that it is futile for me to even try ? Thank you WG for actively trying to make me spend time with the family and on other stuff than your game !!!

If you look at the wording, they don't actually lie in any part of that statement. 1. It is possible to complete the PR without paying doubloons. They just say that getting all the free boosters allows you to complete the ship 2. It is possible to get all the free boosters 3. The criteria to get all the boosters are simple The catch is that the criteria are simple (as in no mystery or hard to understand) they are just impossible to complete. This is so cynical and disgusting on their part ....

You misunderstood ... that was not supposed to be a boost since it increases you vertical dispersion while still keeping the horizontal one ... US BBs have access to Artillery plotting room ... Germans don't ...

POSSIBLE WRONG MISSIONS NUMBERS FROM THE DIRECTIVES
Hugh_Ruka replied to Teogr8's topic in General Discussion
Exactly what I am going to do :-) It's in the same category as "blob up to face CVs" advice but oh well ... -
No "time to completion" indicator, instant FAIL. I understand that you have to make profit on FOMO, but most of the times you do it by heavily frustrating the playerbase. EDIT: I have to admit there's a time to complete indicator but well hidden compared to the time remaining one it's outright manipulative ...

CV: Always blamed for the loss of a game
Hugh_Ruka replied to DrMechano's topic in General Discussion
DD main here, so I am obviously biased ... I usually do compliment a good CV player (I hate CVs with a passion) that knows how to maximize his influence in other ways than pure damage farming. Unfortunately those are quite rare. That being said, my experience with CV games is that I just lost a lot of control over my gameplay when a CV is present and I cannot do anything to regain it. Compared to planes, my ship is slow and clumsy so my main strength (concealment) is greatly diminished. Same happens with other classes in different aspects (BBs lose their armor advantage and cruisers lose their DPM role). So can you blame those that get frustrated playing against CVs ? They are the only class that does not have a semi-effective counter, not even themselves anymore (since WG change fighter to glorious spoters). -
This is the same crap as the event missions ... They are released to all people irrespective of them meeting the prereqs. On one side it is nice because you see what you COULD do if you had those ships. OTOH if you do NOT plan on getting them, they just clutter your missions screen ... I'd like a checkbox to filter out only those I meet the prereqs for.

The problem with the Smolensk is that it is incredibly binary ... if you give it to a good player, he'll wreck everything around him ... if you give it to an average or bad player, he'll most likely die quickly without impact and would be more beneficial to the team in anything else (maybe except a Mino or a DD). That right there averages out the OP out of it ... but looking at the available stats, it outranks even the Shima in the last ranked season by popularity which is about the most widespread T10 ship. That there says a LOT.

The issue is, there would need to be a separate scoring system for each game type (domination, epicenter, standard battle) ... that would complicate things at least on WG side if not on both .... What I think they should change is to add extra rewards to MVPs in the respective categories (most capture points, most potential, most defense points etc ...). Not only damage and kills ...

IIRC it was WGs official advice to blob-up when facing CVs ... you can't blame the players if they follow official advice ...
-
you cannot see modules/upgrades on ships you do not own ...also you cannot see the effect of signals etc ... basically doing proper research on any ship you do not own is not possible ... well there are 3rd party websites, but all of them usually play catch up to WG ...
-
So WG took all that is already available and fancied it up and duplicated it .... great work ... How about we get a ship simulator to access ship information (modules, armor viewer etc) for EVERY ship in the game ? That would be useful ... at least you can research ships you encounter that you don't have and are not in the tech tree ... but WG does not do useful things ...

well since the first one cannot be completed in a DD ... no rush .... I cannot proceed further anyway -
Radar still ruining gameplay and WG dont care about it
Hugh_Ruka replied to DocStrangeFruit's topic in General Discussion
this thread is about radar last time I checked ... so just because CVs are a bigger threat does not diminish the issues with radar ... as to your DM example ... radar range is 10km, please name the T8/9/10 DDs that can outrange that with torps so they have a safe option to actually be a threat to the DM ... afaik there are 4 or 5 (gearing, yugumo, shima, YY, Z-52, I think Fletcher as well) the rest of the DDs reach 10km at most ... therein lies another issue ... most of the DDs don't have effective reach past aprox. 9km. so what you can do is look at the DM and try to get your team to shoot it. again if you can get to a position where you can spot him you are either hopelessly overextended or the DM should not be there because he was outflanked and his support died ... again there is no direct counter to radar. actually this is very similar to CVs these days .... the ship itself is completely safe unless his team folded hard ... also the only ships that trade something important for radar are the RN cruisers (smoke or radar) for the rest it's a simple choice. there is literally no downside to radar. a DD using smoke has to trade his own vision and rely on the team. in a 1v1 situation using smoke is useless. radar has no such problem. -

Hugh_Ruka replied to DocStrangeFruit's topic in General Discussion
because the stats tell you anything except who's good at kill/damage farming ... try playing a support DD (which the Udaloi is f.e.) and you end with stats like that ... EDIT: oh wait ... you don't have much in radar cruiser games either ... I cannot see one with good stats in your inventory ... so your point is ? -
Radar still ruining gameplay and WG dont care about it
Hugh_Ruka replied to DocStrangeFruit's topic in General Discussion
so are DDs as I already mentioned so your point is ??? early game, primaries are DDs, radars if called out and there are people that actually understand what the threat is ... DDs are shot at universally ... even a Khaba detected far out is targeted just because it has the DD icon ... -

Hugh_Ruka replied to DocStrangeFruit's topic in General Discussion
you think so ? then you prefer farming damage in the atlanta to helping your team get rid of the DDs ? I am the exact opposite .... I do get a lot of usage from my atlanta radar ... I specifically picked up the atlanta when I was low tier because I died to them a lot ... I hated the ship so I tried to learn to play it so I know the weaknesses ... the ship itself has a few ... radar does not ... see the difference ? oh one more point ... if you check my most played DDs ... it's those that have the least issues playing against radar ... -

you are comparing armament to utility ... not even apples to oranges ... anyway you have proven my point indirectly, thank you ... -

Well WG also claim CVs are fine and the Smolensk is balanced ... so yeah ... water is wet ... -

Hugh_Ruka replied to DocStrangeFruit's topic in General Discussion
you got it wrong ... radar is a detection mechanic to remove the DDs stealth (concealment and smoke). smoke has a clear downside (you need your team to spot for you) while being caught in the open with radar is well ... a misplay ? however the radar ship has no such downsides ... it can safely hide from fire while his team shoots the victim. no downside for using radar here ... oh oh oh ... but radar ships are priority targets !!! guess what ... so are DDs .... But I do agree with you on that one ... since radar is a detection mechanic, if it cannot detect you, you get no warning that you are in its range .... -

Hugh_Ruka replied to DocStrangeFruit's topic in General Discussion
Except the other ships on the enemy team can shoot the victim that is radared ... it is funny how these arguments in favor of radar always forget the fact that this is a team game ? Arguments pointing out the weakness of radar always either create a 1v1 situation (radar ship behind island cannot shoot you) or expect stupidity/misplay on the radaring ship (like shooting in the open against unfavorable odds) while the radar victim has to git gud and bait radar and avoid damage as best as he can. An undeniable advantage for the radaring ship is that radar goes through islands. Their goal is to position themselves behind island so they cannot be shot at and guard the cap. Their team then shoots the victim. On the victim side, unless there's a handy island in the cap (which in most maps is not) he can only bait radar and hope for the best in evading incoming fire. The radar ship is completely safe unless it abandons the position voluntarily or gets pushed out by the rest of the team which takes time and effort ... so radar has all the advantages here and no disadvantages ... -

Except for those pesky islands preventing you to spot the radar cruiser without exposing yourself to him ... if only radar did not go through islands ... oh wait ... -

Hugh_Ruka replied to DocStrangeFruit's topic in General Discussion
Well and HOW do you know which ship is radaring you when it is hidden behind island ?? I mean come on ... there's no indicator in the game if you were hit by USN or RU radar and there is no way to find our other than trying to get out of range or outlast it if there's not a lot of people shooting you ... But unless you KNOW which ship is radaring you and what modules it has equipped you have no clue to know the duration ... thus for a lot of players expecting the worst case in both parameters is the only safe way to handle radar ... thus the myth of 12km 45sec radar exists ... -
Are you serious about that statement ? If yes I doubt you know how to play this game ... there's a LOT you can do to avoid being shot at and again some to avoid being hit ... it's called positioning ... no positioning can help you avoid CV attention ....
