That MAY be it, but spotting is NOT the primary role of a Cruiser while it is for a DD. By yor logic, potential damage for DDs should be rewarded more than for BBs as the DD risks more ... so again, does not make sense any way you look at it. -

One problem is this: Also for some reason spotting for a cruiser is more valuable than for a DD where DD is the primary recon ship along with the CV. Basically the two primary recon classes are 2nd and 3rd on the list by XP. While DDs get the most income from spotting DAMAGE. This combination does not make sense. Basically your 80k spotting damage was equivalent to 20k damage dealt .... EDIT: Found this gem that may illustrate the problem WG has with understanding the game: That's not diversity of task, defending a cap is just shooting a target for damage. Contesting cap does NOT contribute any XP yet it is the most dangerous CAP defense action typically performed. -

Why ? F1 to F12, keep quick commands on the B wheel only, that's what I'd do. Or R-U and F-J. Also you don't have to bind all 3 different smoke generators to unique keys, you can have ONE for generic smoke generator GROUP. That there reduces 2 keys. Similar with planes as I don't think there's a ship that can have both catapult fighter and spotter at the same time. Same goes for reload boosters ... It is nicely doable and would be a HUGE QoL improvement for the game. -
You see, a simulation where you can test the mechanics yourself with some explanation is better than a video showing you what is happening. It's the difference between checking the armor model of a Des Moines to see where the citadel is and actually trying to hit that citadel. Yes there will always remain people who don't want to learn, but at least you can catch those that just don't know where to start or are overwhelmed by the options. Another thing is, on YT it is not always clear WHICH PATCH the video refers to so you might be learning outdated stuff. To correct your analogy, it's like complaining that the bill is not what you expect because the information in the contract was written out in words in a block of text instead of a clear and concise table. there will be a lot more people that will understand the table without issue to those that can wade through a lot of text and understand the relevant information buried inside.

So where's the Lunar New Year article ? The 0.9.0 patch article and Dasha in the video clearly mention it ... not yet existing ? This seems to be a new low in information publishing for WG ... talking about something that there's no information available and asking as to check dedicated articles ... Looks like I can start ignoring the main website for news about the game ... EDIT: oh yeah the first information about Ranked was "no class restrictions", looks like at least SOME feedback got through ... now if you change the tier to 7 or so it'd be golden ....

damaging a higher tier ship brings more base XP than damaging the same or lower tier ship .... -
either use your GPU driver tuning overlay or something like MSI Afterburner .... far more reliable ....

that was OK when the dedicated anti-DD DDs had crap concealment (russian line). however a Lightning f.e. with even the limited hydro and RPF is a monster ....

+ RPF ... I hate Blacks with RPF because they just locate me in the cap or on the flank with RPF, then pop radar and kill me with their supporting ships. and there's NOTHING I can do other than hope the Black is on the other side of the map. RPF + radar on a DD (not talking about smoke) is deadly ...

this is also the reason why there are many more CV games now ... since CVs are matched 1:1, the matchmaker does have a much easier job now ....

that will punish average players as well and you don't want that. f.e. I could not make ends meet at T10 before without clan bonuses, permacamo and premium time ... I was loosing credits on 100k damage games. it is stupid that I can make a few k profit on a crap game now, but the previous situation was equally bad ....

You can't do anything about those with tutorials, but you can at least make the others do better ... so you'll have one suicidal DD instead of 2 or 3 in the team ... improves the situation ...

Hmm ... maybe there should be Captain limits on tiers ? basically if you want to play T4 you cannot use a captain with more than 6 points allocated, 10 points for T6, 15 for T8 etc .... that way the clubbing potential is limited to player skill (which is still huge but some limits are in place).

you can't even effectively torp a DM ... by the time the torps arrive the spread is so large DM has no problem dodging ...

I spend more time studying the game (twitch/YT etc.) than actually playing. I am an average player by stats because I lack the required mental capabilities to get better. Now if I only played the game and left everything on the knowledge I learn from playing, I'd be the same 30% potato you complain about. Take from that what you like, but without proper NPE and tutorials the situation will not improve. The state of the economy just enables worse and worse potatoes to get into higher tiers. It's not the cause of the potatoes existing.

Unfortunately no. All the resources are everywhere but not the game client. The NPE (New Player Experience) is not even the bare minimum. You get a VIDEO TUTORIALS bar in the Port and that is all. I started a new character recently (last month), there's literally no effective difference to 3 years ago when I started playing the game. There's TONs of people that will never read the main website, forums or look on YT/Twitch. They are the majority of players. Sadly WG is to blame for that. Now imagine if they created Scenario/Operation like tutorials that explain the basics and give you the option to try them out ? You can then point players to YT/Twitch and other resources but you have to teach at least the basics ....

I just hope WG is prepared to create a special testing event on live because this is again a change that cannot be tested on PTS in any meaningful way ... By that I mean free captain resets, free upgrade demounts and full premium compensation for the duration of the test. Or we'll have a small scale 0.8.0 again ...
