  1. Smolensk without IFHE works on volume of shells and rate of fire, same as Atlanta, no 6" cruiser can reach that volume of shells ... EDIT: Also Smolensk with IFHE does not cross any major thresholds (25mm is the only one) so not really worth it ...
  2. Effectively NOTHING has changed for HE. Ships needing IFHE before the change will need it for the same reasons after patch. The only effective change is that Jutland and Daring don't 100% need IFHE, just 95%. Tier 7 and below 6" cruisers and lower are shafted either way so they can take IFHE as before. BBs will profit from lower firechance everyewhere around ...

    Or you are a player like me that focuses on a singe class of ships because of play time and the directives are structured such that you need at least 3 classes to complete them (RN cruisers part 2 f.e.) ... content for every player ... sure ... Luckily I still have tech tree ships to grind so not much loss for me there ...

    Well Khaba had 10km torps back then ... basically they can make Khaba more universal with 10km torps or a better gunboat with gun range and rudder shift. Both options are nice to have, I do vote for the gun/rudder one :-)

    Well still it is random if you hit or not. If flak spawns at the same time for both defending ships, they won't hit anything ... you have no control over AA in any way except on/off and sector reinforcement. The whole mechanic is "turn on and pray" ...

    That reddit guy is new here ? How does he think surface ships work ? Crossfire zones are key to victory. Unfortunately this does not apply to CVs or rather aircraft as they don't care about target angling and can deliver damage from any angle they want. Also if I remember correctly, no matter where the flak comes from (attacked ship or ally nearby) it always spawns in front of the planes in the same fashion. So the only difference is not the side it comes from but the timing (i.e. inbetween other ship flak salvos). So AA defense is still totally random when it comes to flak and thus ineffective.

    I do agree with this one ... Should be able to get int othe 6-7 sec rudder shift range with single upgrade ... with legendary + aft it could have somewhere between 15 and 16km range ...

    No Khabarovsk solo games as far as wows-numbers detailed stats go (about beginning of February) ... so it may be your best solo winrate ship after CVs but when did you last play it actually ?

    And will you keep an updated TOC list as the first post ? because it is bloody hard to have a topic focused discussion (f.e. AA balance) in a general thread where all the topics are mixed ? A CV subforum would be better - I know there is one in game guides, but that's more specific ship and how to play them related than balancing and game mechanics. ... just a suggestion ....

    1. remove 2. rework The main issue with CVs is that WG have no clue what to do with them. They are a popular and interesting class from a historical and technological point, so they should be in the game. However at the current state, they are simply a negative feature. Historically they had a huge impact on the battlefield and I don't think the other classes would like to just play CV escorts if it came to that. Unfortunately WG don't want to invest any more time and resources into CVs ...

    TLDR: I don't care about damage, main point is I do overmatch the target at any distance and angle ... that's not a very effective way to use that mechanic ... but if you prefer it that way, it's your game ...
  22. There will never be a 2nd line of CVs in the odd ranks ... WG learned that the MM, given the current CV population, has a much easier job creating games for CVs when the number of ranks is compressed. So at most then will create the alternate line with the same ranks we have now.

    well ... none of the battleships were ever designed to shoot straight forward as is possible in this games. some have AA mounts on the bow and other stuff, some would shoot right through the top of the bow at lowest elevation. just look up the pictures of naval guns muzzle blast, that alone would tear right through a 32mm deck armor ... no need to hit with shells ... basically any BB shooting main armament straight ahead at lowest elevation would a least blast away anything in front of the guns from deck, some would blast away the bow as well :-) these things had MINIMAL ranges as well .. nothing like that is implemented in the game ...

    Actually he's correct in a way. Overmatching and dealing damage are not the same thing. you can overmatch and then bounce on the inner armor layer because long range and not enough pen. Or you can overmatch and overpen at the same time because of angle ... overmatch in itself does not guarantee anything ... the only sure way to make overmatch do something for you is to be at a distance where you can reliably hit and do damage.
