Favorite shipgirl (Kancolle,Azur lane, Arpeggio of blue steel,Haifuri)

It is, if you only quote the single phrase without context and assume I have a mentality like Barney Stintson, which I don't. I have a mentality more like Nagisa Okazaki, wherein 'Make a baby' means: 'let's bond our souls together for a moment to create a new person and raise it together'. Maybe it was the way I wrote it, but I thought I made that much clear... Also, Heaven's Feel Hype! I'm still waiting for the BLuRay to be released in my country before I watch it. -
Gallant is a bit of a funny one to start out with, as the "Widespread" is actually roughly equivalent to other destroyer's Narrow Spread. Gallant's greatest strength (IMHO) is her ability to single-launch torpedoes, but obviously you need some considerable experience to get to grips with how single-firing torpedoes works. If you can get used to single-firing I dare say it has more practical use than the narrow spreads of other destroyers. It's especially fun to just delete an enemy BB that hasn't installed the WASD hack yet, or has installed it, but can't find a safe route through your random torpedo pattern.

There is a fundamental difference between a 'wife' and a 'daughter', which should be apparent in the words being used. You would love both unconditionally, a desire to protecc is obviously going to be there, too. The major difference is with one you love but also desire, and thus you want to make babies with, while the other is your baby and thus you want to raise them and watch them grow. Furthermore, one you want to protecc but is also capable of protecc you in return, while the other is dependant on you for protecc. A waifu: A daughteru: You'll find that a lot of people online (whether as a joke or for real) automatically assume the worst of someone if they say they want to adopt a fictional child character. -
Wow. You didn't get @Riselotte's message at all, did you? It's not that ships are expected to be all-rounders, it's that the game must strike a delicate balance between ships being capable of doing what they need to do and being too good at doing everything or obtaining abilities from other classes of ships that make them wonky and hard to balance. Asashio in particular is incapable of effectively contesting caps or scouting ahead for fear of meeting DDs and Cruisers which it cannot defend itself against. This is against what the ship should be doing, thus making it inferior to other DDs. Belfast is too good at doing what a cruiser should be doing - assisting DDs/killing DDs, AA screening, etc. - in particular doing the above without even needing to come into harms way via smoke and radar combo. Thus she is overpowered (and permanently removed from sale). I would add that Nikolai I, Kamikaze and Saipan are also excellent examples of ships being overpowered due to being too good at what they need to do. I would also add that Missouri and Black are further examples of ships being overpowered compared with the rest of their class. On the subject of variety, how would you balance ships like Ise, Tone or Kitakami? How would you make them not only fun ideas to play, but also balanced in a competitive gaming environment?

Sounds like WG might end up giving her 20km DWTs to balance her...

Nah, I can't see that working somehow. Too many Radar Cruisers go to B anyway. No, for me all BBs prefer to go to C where it is open and those who spawn near A just make do with heading to B. I will admit I didn't consider the 'home' cap as one of the caps you can torp when I laughed at the idea. Trap: sure you can get straight shots at A and C themselves, but you don't really have good shots at BBs going to those caps. Not to mention that most DDs going to B cap go there to be farmed by radar cruisers anyway. *Insert It's a Trap! meme here* LoF: Only from south spawn and only if BBs go down the channel between the islands? Again, I find BBs try to avoid that channel, or at least go around the handy-dandy island that sits there. Trident: B-C from north spawn? Still a large island obscuring the BBs there. I've also seen more than my fair share of BBs proposing to the eastern border, getting married and getting a reasonably-priced two-up-two-down rather than be easy pickings for B cap. I'm surprised you forgot it, too. I feel like most BBs prefer to play around with the island chain until the cops arrest them on that map. Torping DDs in a knife-fight? 2-4km away is best. Gut instinct. Never aim for the white line. Try to predict where your opponent will turn either to get his own torpedoes away or get all his guns on target. Try to fake him out, go broadside and stop shooting for a moment and watch what he does. There's always a chance that they will tunnel-vision in and forget to take evasive manoeuvres (as I have done on many occasion that ended with me sunk). Gallant's single-launch (or even any of the RN cruisers, if you eff up and let a DD get close to you) is particularly effective at hitting enemy DDs, due to the unpredictable patterns you can create. It's not much in terms of advice, but I hope you get an idea what works for me.

I don't remember much, it was over a year ago when I played her. I remember free XP-ing most of my way to Shiratsuyu. I also remember free XPing past the stock hull and torpedoes on Fubuki, so I don't think she's in a terribly different situation, tbh.
-
Having a look at the Wiki page for Hatsuharu...I could've sworn she had access to it before. But then that was before the Shiratsuyu nerf that had her forced to choose between smoke and TRB. Don't tell me WG had the genius idea of nerfing an already weak ship?

I wish people would stop and look at a desire to adopt a child as meaning "I want to raise this child and protecc them" rather than "I want to [REDACTED]". My love for my daughterus is pure. -
I'll let you have those, I want to say that strategies that only work from one spawn don't count, but there are plenty of those already in this game so that wouldn't be fair. You're going to have to point out what angles you are talking about for this one. I don't see them. You mean the map where BBs avoid A like a plague and head to B anyway? To shoot torpedoes at B from C you'll have to be right on the opposite edge or shooting down the gap, neither are all that viable. Ahahahahahahahahah. No. I think there's a good reason most BBs avoid B cap (or whatever cap it is in the updated one - same place different designation). If I'm not mistaken all of these are big fat 'nope's. Or you have to deal with extremely tight gaps in order to pull it off. Especially the latter two. Like seriously? How in the hell do you figure?

I'm beginning to realise you just mean sick/disgusting. -
You'd make a good politician, because you didn't answer my question. Here it is again, in case you missed it: Let's assume for argument that you are right and the BBs 'at' a cap are some distance behind it. Now consider all those maps again and where the BBs usually are in support of the caps and answer my question.
-
I wish there was an option to post a response to this but without it being bumped to the top of the thread listing... @Riselotte Wow, I don't know how I feel about a US DD getting TRB, but in particular I can't imagine a T6 ship getting TRB and smoke in separate slots being a good idea, even if she gets a nerfed reload timer on it. At least Hatsuharu had to choose between smoke and TRB.
-
Okinawa? Cap B and Support A? Can I have what you're smoking as it apparently makes DWT swim under islands. Actually, take a look at this page on the WoWS wiki and tell me how many out of all of the maps in the game (including maps too low-tier for Asashio to play on) can you actually cap one point and still torpedo BBs in another? (Assuming there will even be BBs in the caps given that there is an Asashio on the enemy team)

He means porn. Honestly, I think I'm one of the few who sees U's transformation into Ro as more of a 'Scared little puppy leaves home and is forced to live in a foreign land with unfamiliar people, but starts opening up to them and becomes really outgoing and happy' kind of story. In either form she's totally Daughteru material. Oh, and I hope I don't have to remind everyone of the Internet's Rules 34 and 35, do I? Ya just gotta get used to them, ya precious little snowflakes! Talking favourites I find it difficult to decide and it frequently changes according to my mood. Even if I remain steadfast that Ryuujou is my waifu, I have to admit that Houshou is the better wife. Then there's the fact that I'd enjoy waking up in the mornings if Asakaze was there to rouse me. But then having a laid-back bro for a wife like Kitakami would be awesome, as well as the sporty summer-type Shioi (who's tanlines only exist around her abdomen, so you've got to wonder...). I don't think I have any shipgirls I actually dislike, aside from artwork. Ryuujou kai is bad, but kai2 is a massive improvement. The Fusous are pretty unappealing, and I'm not really all that into Kongou-class or Ashigara-class. I like Yoshinori Higuma's art, and that applies to all of the shipgirls he's designed, this includes Shimakaze. I think my favourite battleship designs are those from Yoshinori-sensei, aside from Warspite, Bismarck and Octob- Y'know what? I just plain like all of the 'foreign' shipgirls in terms of design alone. Although, having said that, Jiji's art for Libeccio and Luigi is a tad... I also (and I've said this before) want to adopt all of the Kaiboukan. They're just so goshdarn cute! There are many shipgirls that aren't even on my radar, just because there are so many. Especially destroyers, even though I do love me some DDs. Many shipgirls only appeared on my radar because they're good cards in Weiss Schwarz! Like Yuubari or Makigumo or Hatsushimo. Oh, and Meiji-era Shool Uniforms (hakama and boots combo, like what the Kamikaze-class wear) are to die for. -
Current and/or Past Events / combat missions
LOZFFVII replied to Kleezs's topic in Newcomers' Section
WarGaming is a bit funny like this. The game was released back in September 2015, version 0.5.something? (IDK, I didn't start playing until October 2016 with the release of the RN Cruisers) WG seem to like their games version numbers being 0.something, with their flagship title, World of Tanks, only just recently updating to version 1.0, despite being 'released' for 10-odd years already. So, contrary to popular logic, WoWS is actually already 'full' and is just receiving updates every-now-and-then. Low-tier premiums (such as Varyag) seem to get these events to earn them for free whenever they are released; sadly as a ship can only be 'released' once if you miss the event the first time you will have to buy the ship if you want to add it to your port in future, sorry to burst your bubble there. Take heart in this much, though: I've heard she's basically a nerfed Oleg, which in turn is a stock Bogatyr, so if you want to play something like her but better, she's already in-game for free! -
Close, but not quite. Ultimately, there's nothing really wrong with being uptiered in WoWS. I've heard WoT is worse, with some low-tier tanks being unable to even damage higher-tiers, at least in WoWS you can do something even if it's just act as a distraction. I've had a game where I was top tier in a Mahan, got Kraken and Double-Strike (using my guns) and I lost the game for my team vs a Fubuki and a October Revolution. I've also had a game where I was bottom-tier in an Omaha and I successfully humiliated an enemy Yorck (as well as a different game where I humiliated an enemy Cleveland). I will admit that BBs have a much harder time of being uptiered than DDs (my favourite ship class), but at least be glad you aren't playing cruisers.

https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/updates/anti-abuse-system/ This should help.
-
@Brufe I'm not certain if I got the complete gist of what you are saying, but basically "WG should cater to my demands because otherwise I will stop paying them money!" If you're having trouble with ships 2tiers higher than you, have a look at this thread: Good luck out there.

Buyer's Remorse - Asashio edition **BUY HAREKAZE INSTEAD**
LOZFFVII replied to M0bius_One's topic in General Discussion
You and I both know that isn't a cruiser, and that nobody playing that ship would intentionally get close to an Asashio if they could help it. Your screenshot showed 4xSolo Caps, no 'assisted in capture' ribbons. I only made a logical deduction - you solo capped four times, which would have been unlikely had the enemy been competent. Sorry if that wasn't clear from my post. Call it optimism, or call it naiveté if you want, but I like to hope that the player base isn't as bad as these forums suggest. All of this isn't really proving anything for your case of 'she can be good in multiple areas'. Sinking an enemy Asashio who wasn't as good as you? Yeah, I could probably do that, too. Most of this is just 'torp enemy BBs = win', further emphasizing my point that she is a one-trick pony and a pretty toxic example, too. -
Buyer's Remorse - Asashio edition **BUY HAREKAZE INSTEAD**
LOZFFVII replied to M0bius_One's topic in General Discussion
First Question: How many enemy destroyers were in that match? Second Question: How many enemy radar cruisers were in that match? Third Question: Were there any carriers in that match? Final Question: Just how incompetent do you have to be in any of the above ship classes to not be able to counter a solo-capping Asashio? Conclusion (based on a lack of information): You got lucky. *Shrug Emoji* (There should really be a shrug emoji) On another note: congrats to everyone making Asashio work at the moment. You're certainly making us naysayers look like fools... At least until everyone gets used to Asashio and works out how to counter her (in the myriad of ways already described basically everywhere). Reminds me of one of my favourite weapons from a game I played a few years ago...it was pretty powerful when it was first released, almost overpowered in fact; until everyone worked out that it was only good on a flat plane and you could grief anybody using it easily by just finding some high ground. Was still pretty funny to see people crap their pants when they saw a seeker bomb rush heading towards them - and pretty epic to see someone just jump over all of them to get me (mad respect to that guy). -
Buyer's Remorse - Asashio edition **BUY HAREKAZE INSTEAD**
LOZFFVII replied to M0bius_One's topic in General Discussion
Except it can't. As I pointed out earlier, there is no point in attempting to cap with Asashio. Spotting with Asashio? Sure, you can do that, but then are there any destroyers that can't spot targets while attempting to stealth torpedo them? Oh, but then other destroyers can typically stealth torpedo enemy cruisers too, while the Asashio can't. So your logic is "If this ship doesn't do some things well, playing in it must help me improve my ability to do said things". That's like taking roller blades onto an ice skating rink with the theory that they must help you improve your ice skating skills because they aren't very good at travelling over slippery ground. Skilled people make tricks like that look easy because they know what they're doing, if a newbie tries the same thing he's only going to faceplant. Over. And over. And over. And over. To make matters worse, if you do learn to ice skate by using roller blades when time comes to use actual ice skates you'll have learnt all of the wrong lessons and you'll be back at square one, learning how to ice skate with mother-loving ICE SKATES! -

If you feel strongly about it, join me in flooding the forums with pictures of 'Instaaaall Asashio-chan' in protest at what WG have done. I know I would've bought Asashio had she just been a normal representation of IJN Torpedo boats, even though I already have half a dozen premium IJN DDs as it is, but I refuse to buy her in this toxic waste dump form. -
