    Shima legendary...

Personally, I don't think you should view Shimakaze's LegMod as being an 'upgrade': if you do, you're going to be disappointed. Like basically all other LegMods, its main design is to change how you play the ship. In Shima's case the 'best' way you should be playing the ship is to use the 12km torps, as they are the most effective weapon for dealing damage. BUT if you try using the LegMod with the 12km torps, you're just going to find yourself frustrated by the slow torpedo traverse. Now, take note that the 20km torps actually have a faster base reload than the 12kms, combined with the TAE skill and the LegMod should get you chucking out 20km mines much more often. Furthermore, at the distance at which you are launching the 20kms in the general direction of your enemies you don't really care about the traverse rate. Essentially, the LegMod turns your Shima from your run-of-the-mill IJN DD into something that can blanket whole areas of the map and make it difficult for the enemy to manuver. Enemy DD too close? Smoke up and run, maybe pew-pew him a bit if he's dedicated to chasing you, but you're not a gunboat by any stretch of the imagination. Torpedo spotting range is too big? Doesn't matter. You can still score hits if the enemy weren't prepared for them. You can even hit DDs and CA/CLs (which is not something a certain other 20km torp-launching DD can do). Ultimately your purpose with the 20km fishies is not to deal direct damage, but to force your opponents to change course and speed, making them vulnerable to ally support fire. Am I suggesting that the 20km torp Shima is a 'good' way to play the ship? Not at all. If you want to be competitive, use the 12km torps (if you're brave, use the F3s). What I am saying is that the LegMod makes the 20km torps a more interesting option over your standard tryhard set-up.
  3. Psssst, @Zemeritt, I think he's trying to get our attention. Honestly, I don't think you need to mention FE to get my attention on the subject, just being Touhou and being on steam would be enough (hell, I've bought physical disc releases through JList before, so it didn't even need to be Steam). The only problem I have is that my free time is extremely limited.

Meh, much like with Evergarden, nothing about the show apealed to me, so I didn't bother.
  5. Huh. Okay then. Not really. Just looked like a pair of random lolis to me. Welcome to two years and 240 pages into the future! Did you enjoy your trip?

Not really surprising; I already knew that in a ranking of comics sold over total lifespan, Ne Pece was #3 behind Spoodermin and Fatman. Which is impressive, given that One Piece started in 1997, whilst Batman was 1939 and Spiderman was 1962.

I thought that was the joke.
  9. Gonna quote this and give an @ to @CptBarney , so now he can stop asking us when we'll get the AL anime.

Seeing as @Robber_Baron wants us to get back on-topic, I thought I'd run through my thoughts on the KyoAni shows I've watched. I think I'll start with a couple of interesting ones: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu [Holy I actually remember that without looking it up!]). An entertaining show about Kyon, who meets and falls in love with a Chuuni who declares at the start of High School that she's only interested in meeting Aliens, Espers and Time Travellers. The twist is that Haruhi is a god who reshapes the universe with her desires, causing Aliens, Espers and Time Travellers to come into existence, but Haruhi doesn't realise she is a god and said Aliens/Espers/Time Travellers are keeping themselves secret from her to try and work out why she's so important. I really liked this one when I was younger, it's a shame that we only have one one-cour season and a movie of this show to watch. There is not a second season. Definitely no second season. And if there was one, you should definitely not watch the eight episodes titled "Infinite Eight". Lucky Star. Actually the first KyoAni anime I watched, and it was the fact that this one shares it's entire vocal cast (Japanese and English! Even mirroring roles!) with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya that got me into the other one. This is a super-cutesy slice-of-life about a gaggle of High School girls and their random everyday conversations. It's the epitome of relaxing entertainment. Only one 2-cour season (and a few OVAs) to Lucky Star. Sadly, I don't think we'll get any more of Lucky Star/Haruhi, because seiyuu Aya Hirano (Konata Izumi/Haruhi Suzumiya respectively) being unhireable due to the fact that she likes having sex with lots of different men and the entire Japanese entertainment industry is like "Lol, slut shame." Clannad. The name is Gaelic for "family", and the anime is about families. Namely, it's about protagonist Tomoya's coming to understand what family actually means by forming relationships with other kids at his high school and trying to overcome his own fractured relationship with his single father. I don't want to go into any more detail, both for spoilers and because I'm going to start blubbering inelegantly. Watch it for the feels, man. Two 2-cour seasons to this one. K-On!. It's Lucky Star, but it's about a high school music club (Keionbu <- it's a pun), it doesn't have as diverse a cast and lacks the pop-y art style. Meh. Also the entire fanbase only cares about yuri shipping, and I've never been into yuri or yaoi shipping. I stopped watching after season 1. I considered watching the film, but only to see if I could catch any popular music references, and never actually bothered watching it. Nichijou. The name means "Everyday", but the stuff that happens in this anime is hardly 'everyday'. You have a ridiculously-human android schoolgirl who was built by a genius 7-year-old named 'Professor' ('Hakase', and yes that's her name), their pet cat who can talk thanks to a red neckerchief he wears, and they aren't even the main characters (although Nano, the android, is the closest to a normal human personality-wise in the whole show). The high school where most of the action takes place is full of weirdos, the principal's character-defining scene is one where he pro-wrestles a deer on school grounds with dramatic commentary by Yukko (the dumb character) - the only person there watching it. There's an entire dramatic subplot that takes place onboard an airship that only serves as a backstory for a character's hair decorations. Tenis and Supermans. Nichijou is a show that needs to be seen to be believed, there is one 4-cour series. There are many other KyoAni shows, but I haven't seen them (or I don't remember).

French Destroyers Event: the Full Guide

26th July? Let's see, my options are: Grind out a super-grindy grindfest for new ships being added to WoWS, an unblanced PvP MOBA game; or, Play Fire Emblem Three Houses, a new single-player strategy RPG that looks like it could have an interesting story and lovable characters. Welp, I'll see you in another month, WG!

If people like Donald Trump and Boris Johnston continue to keep power, I doubt we'll see the end of this century.
  14. We don't know yet, but he has (apparently) been apprehended. If you're talking about the guy I think you are, he was a stressed out and disgruntled USPS (US Postal Service) worker, and the media coined the term "going postal" to describe what happened (there are even two video games named after this).

    Welcome to real life. https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Horace_Walpole
  16. It's all fine, it's all fine! I've got Chaser and Koln (retro), so everything's going to be fine. Yeah, that was a shocker. It's really awful that there are some people in the world just ed up enough to do something so horrible.
  17. Cruisers and Battleships became defunct in the wake of WWII. Destroyers gradually started fulfillling the same niches that cruisers used to be designed for (convoy escorting, AA defence screening, etc), rendering the larger class obsolete. The fact that modern DDs are roughly the same size as WWII Cruisers is a technicality (? I had a better word in my head for it 10seconds ago, but it vanished whilst typing, fml). If you're going to build a massive ship that costs millions of schekels, you're better off keeping them as far away from the action as is possible, making it less likely they end up sunk. Thus Carriers have become the focus of large naval construction projects rather than battleships.

Meh, doesn't sound as interesting as Squirrel and Hedgehog:
  19. So did I. Still no i-56, though (but I don't care as much for her, although it'd still be nice of her to drop for me). Possibly? I don't really remember anything of the sort, though... Heh. I've already been WoWS-free for three(?) weeks. 26th is turning out to be a doubly good day for me, as it turns out there's a new arcade opening in my local town on that day. House of the Dead, Arcade Temple Run, Silent Scope 2, After Burner Climax! Not to mention tons of retro consoles (Gamecube is retro? I feel old). This place is going to eat up what little free time I have left!

Red Fraction? Get down on your knees, Get a good head on your shoulders...
  21. Hyuuga is really good; she is a must for retrofitting. I used her (retro) with Amagi and Hiei-chan for grinding Izumo (whom I have unlocked now, BTW) and if it weren't for Amagi's barrage, Hyuuga would get MVP every time. She buffs backrow FP, self-buffs her own FP (which stacks!) has an excellent close-range barrage (that functions as her secondary gun, as she drops her secondary for equipping seaplanes), can do smartbombs with her seaplanes (you won't be doing much damage, but clears all the bullets) and is super-cheap for a purple BB (due to having blue BB oil cost). No. I wouldn't get your hopes up for when they do get added, I've heard they're next-to-worthless. Like subs for that matter... I've got 3/5, and mostly only one of each (two of i-168), still waiting on i-56 and u-101. Oof, please come home, U-101. It already sucks that I can't get my hands on U-81 despite how often I'm rolling special build. If I can't get U-101 on rate-up I'll probably never get her. Missed out on? U-81 is in the special build pool. Actually the good thing about this sub rate-up event is it's based on the special pool (rather than heavy pool like it normally is), so you've actually got a chance to roll U-81 in addition to the new subs. Also, I see what you did with your signature...

Meh, to the Japanese themselves they're both the same thing (Anime = short for "Animation"). But this doesn't change the fact that I think @ViceAdmiralMorgan only posted here to try and troll us into getting a response. FYI, Morgan, I was raised on a diet of Tom&Jerry, Flintstones, Scoobydoo, Looney Tunes, Wacky Races, Powerpuff Girls, Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, The Simpsons, Pokemon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Dragonball before I really became an anime fan. Something about the latter four having an overarching plot narative and being tie-in media for real-life things I enjoyed apealed to me way more than some of the western stuff that was episodic and had very little merch (at least around where I grew up). However, the anime that finally converted me into an anime fan? Fullmetal Alchemist (original, not Brotherhood). I quickly became addicted to the story and the characters, which unlike many western animations I watched at the time had things to say and actually grew as the show progressed (take Tom from T&J in episode 1 and compare him to episode 350...no discernable change; take Edward Elric episode 1 and compare him with episode 51...hoo boy thar be spoilars beyond thar...). Needless to say, I was hooked. The second anime I watched as a fan? Elfen Lied. Never before had I seen a 'cartoon' that was so gory, so messy, and wasn't just a joke (like Happy Tree Friends or South Park) - the lives and deaths in EL had meaning, even if only to establish just how ed up the whole world of EL was. Kenny being killed for the 100th time? A recycled and trite joke. Nana's fight against Lucy? Brutal. Heartbraking. Elfen Lied still left an impression on me 14-15 years after first watching it (and the whole series is 12 episodes long! 13 if you count the OVA).
  23. And what actually happened to Dreadnaught, anyway? Quickly superceded, never fought in a battle and then scrapped. So much for the ship that made everything obsolete overnight... Yes, I'm sure you're right (it's 2am and my brain no research right now). However, you kinda just proved my point? Germany disregarded their naval restrictions and they still had no chance of success. Even against our own stifled and restricted navy. Didn't count her, as Bismarck was sunk before she was even launched. In fact the Germans had to quickly redesign parts of her to try and avoid having the same fate as Bismarck (well, she managed to avoid having the same fate anyway...). All of them British...so Germany had even less of a chance. The only thing you proved is that I don't really know many RN BBs. *shrugs* Also, checking Wikipedia it says Anson and Howe weren't commisioned until 1942 (Bismarck was sunk in May 1941), so like with Tirptiz above, I wouldn't count them for my example. (Wikipeia-sensei says:) Barham, Malaya and Valiant were all WWI relics, just like QE and Warspite, so hardly a modern fleet (we can thank the WNT for that). Right...and my original point was we went from being the naval power to being one of the naval powers as a result of Dreadnaught and the WNT. By saying that we had a rival you basically proved my point. I wasn't saying we suddenly became really bad, but the fall from grace can certainly be traced back to Dreadnaught and the WNT. You know I've been grinding 6-4 for two months now, with no poi to show for it?
