Yeah, apparently it takes a server reset/update to change my name in-game, so it'll be a little while before that will be updated...

@Zemeritt @Ze_Reckless Feels weird, man, I've gotten so used to seeing 'Captain_LOZFFVII' at the top of my posts...

Sorry to say, but 'invisifiring' was patched out about 2.5years ago. I remember it well, mostly because back then the T9 and T10 IJN gunboat DDs did not exist and basically the only thing Akizuki had going for her was being able to invisifire (the IJN 100mm guns still only had 1/6HE pen instead of the current 1/4, making doing damage even to same-tier DDs a problem). These days, the second you open fire your detection range blooms out to your maximum shooting range. That also means that if you buff your shooting range, then the new range becomes your new "detected while shooting" range.

I get that hating on CVs is par for the course, but can you tell me the last time you saw 3CVs per side? Because I don't think I've EVER seen 3-per-side. Even post-REEEwork. I stopped equipping my Kiev with heal earlier this year because of a game where I got focused until death within the first 3minutes of a battle by two enemy CVs. I considered changing back to heal the other day, but decided against it, not just because of CVs, but also because I remembered the times I've been able to use it when spotted in caps. Can't contest caps with just a heal. I guess this is the main reason I'm not interested in playing the MN DDs, the lack of smoke just makes them super-vulnerable to being permaspotted and blasted into oblivion. I certainly know I have fun dicking on them in my CVs.

...We'll see. (Assuming I can be bothered to get off my lazy @$$ and do something about it)

Ugh, are you serious? Two U-81s today, but no Centaurs. Can the 4% do me the favour of falling the other way, please? -
There is a case to be made that some people might have wanted a certain name to begin with, but due to it being unavailable at the time they had to settle for something else. Using myself as a case in point: I am LOZFFVII. That has been my username since first signing into Youtube all of 13-or-so years ago, back when I was heavily into The Legend Of Zelda and Final Fantasy VII. Captain_LOZFFVII is what I was forced to go with because someone was already using LOZFFVII when I first tried sigining into WoWS three years ago. Honestly, I have considered changing my name multiple times since, but seeing as I have no way of knowing if 'LOZFFVII' is free now, I'm loath to spend my doubloons before doing so.

Anyone else think WG are trying to make up for Kamikaze and...? Nope no idea what else of IJN is OP. WG are just trying to make up for Kamikaze spam at T5 with loads and loads of crappy IJN premiums. -

I'm in total agreement with you. I'm definitely at least a dolphin when it comes to AL, if not actively borderline whale. Unlike when I spent £140 in FEH or the occasional premium ship purchase in WoWS, I don't feel really dirty after spending money on the occasional £28.99 goodiebag (or buying the £80 motherload of gems before the anniversary double gem reset). Well, I felt dirty after buying Bache's "Gorgeous Speed-star" skin, but that's a whole different matter... -

We're talking about getting email confirmation of our TST accounts, not acceptance into the super test. We clicked on a link on the news articles to sign up for the submarine TST server. It says quite clearly on the article that you need the WGC to download the TST server. -
I think it could work as a mini-CV. Early game, and whenever you want to go dark, just send up some bombers and fly them to your targets. Late game, and if you're mid- to close-range from targets (say, around your detection range) then use the guns. I think one other factor no-one is considering is that these mini-cvs could be put on odd tiers (because unlike CVs, they are not restricted in tiers to work with), essentially allowing CV-style spotting into T7 ranked or clan modes. That in itself would be the balancing factor for reduced gunpower. Let's not forget that, depending on how fighters are handled for these mini-CVs (either as ship consumables like on other BBs/CAs or as squadron consumables like on CVs) this could result in a BB capable of spotting DDs for itself (switch to planes -> fly bombers over DD -> drop fighter squadron -> F-key outta there -> aim and shoot).

That's just a floatplane. It was supposed to be used for recon and gunnery fire control (because you obviously can't direct a 203mm turret very well without a mast). Also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I-400-class_submarine Aircraft-carrying submarines. Just to add to the weird IJN designs of trying to cram planes onto everything after losing four carriers at Midway. Other ships I would like to add: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erebus-class_monitor If you were to ask me, I'd design the Ise-class, Retrofitted Mogami-class, Tone-class and i-400-class with buffed plane HP, but increased plane replenishment times. Essentially the idea would be that when used at the right time you can send up planes to spot for your team and do some supplemental damage, but your main focus is still on whatever your main class is. Basically, they act as mini-cvs that take the slot of whatever their hull class is.

Azur Lane Crosswave for PS4 has Shimakaze. You never know, we might get her as part of a celebration of the game being released overseas. -
I'm glad you're capable of admitting to your mistakes, a lot of players in your position will simply go dark and not admit to anything. A wise man once said "Admitting you were wrong is the first step to getting better" or something like that. Shimakaze in particular, as good as a 15-torpedo broadside (one that can go out as far as 20km) seems to be, is hampered extremely badly for all of these 'features' of her torpedoes. Firstly, her torpedo reload is over 2minutes, with only the 8km torpedoes managing to drop below that, regardless of how many captain skills or modules you equip on her. Secondly, her torpedoes are spotted from the moon, meaning that they can be dodged very easily on reaction time alone. There is a very good reason why Shimakaze is at the bottom of the T10 DDs on pretty much all stats sites. Whereas you are correct with the first half of this (skill is not required for understanding), the second half is simply how life works (understanding brings skill). If you understand something better than someone else, your skill level is inherently higher because of your understanding. Like driving, for expample: the knowledge that actively braking on hills is simply bleeding off some of the kinetic energy from your movement and turning it into heat energy, meaning you need to spend more fuel in order to get that kinetic energy back (and also wears down your brake pads faster), will make you more economical by realising you can use your engine to slow down by simply shifting into a lower gear (this is called Engine Braking). I will admit that, because I refuse to directly stats-shame people, I had no idea what kind of ships you played or at what tiers. I simply used a guess that told me because I didn't have my first T10 until around 3k battles, you with 1900 battles probably did not have the in-game experience of high-tier DDs to really be able to tell a newbie how bad the torpedo situation was at high-tiers. And, given my second T10 was Shimakaze, I felt pretty qualified to state how mistaken you were. Given I know the inside-and-out of Shimakaze in particular, I also snorted with laughter when I read "30 seconds later" and "reload booster". Oh how I would love for Shimakaze to have a reload booster on my 20km lol torps. Nothing would escape from my wall of death! In any case, if what @rnat said is true and 1/4 of your battles are in high-tier, when you only have less than 2000 battles under your belt...I can only advise that you find a line that you like, go back to T2 and regrind from the bottom. Do not be tempted to skip tiers with any FreeXP you have. You will learn a lot more about the ins-and-outs by going back to being a newb and working your way up from there. Also, take the time to actually play DDs, you will learn a lot about what they can and cannot do.

Well, Monarch is T8... Personally, I'm hoping we see Minotaur at some point. Would be interesting to see her guns as some kind of rainbow version of the 152mm Triple Prototype. -

Useful advice. Guess I'll be focusing on getting those blueprints from the exchange rather than the oil or coins then... -

I had maybe one or two when I first beat '65. The rest all came from beating '65 twice a week. The blue equipment I used when beating '65 for the first time came from beating '55. And so on. The rainbow dildo oxygen torpedo is what really boosts your torp damage, and I simply 'borrowed' a couple from Ayaya before I had enough to equip the subs. My backline when grinding for her was Hood, DoY and QE, none of them cheap; however my frontline was only a lvl120 Phoenix, who is cheap and really good. Total cost per run? About 50. Not super cheap, but affordable. Honestly, I don't really feel that the PR ship grind should be something you try to rush. I mean, to be efficient yes, you do need to build a fleet around what it is you're trying to grind for, but you don't need to spend all your oil everday grinding for these ships. It's not like they're going anywhere. -
Although I will be the first to admit I actually go around in stock ships earning experience to upgrade modules. That is unless stock truly is absolutely useless, like Fubuki with 6km torps or Omaha with those godawful stock guns (I think it was Omaha, or I might be remembering T6 Cleveland...it's been a while).

My sub fleet makes a cakewalk out of '65, and just the other day I was able to push them to my first two wins of '75: You don't need gold equipment to succed, you just need enough high-level purples and a good idea how to maximise your damage output without running out of torps. Ahahah. I'm on iPad, so I've probably got a bit better battery than you do. That and my password involves holding my thumb to the button at the bottom, so it might be a little quicker to enter than yours. That is...one hell of a waste of resources. Stop spamming the 1200 comission, you REALLY don't need it. How I do it: New ship (regardless of whether I'm gonna use them or not) ->1200 comission. When that's done, new ship is level 19. Do I want to use them? If 'Yes': If 'No': Stick them in the dorm or the classroom (whenever I remember the classroom exists) until they hit level 70. Take them out of the dorm. Ship is now finished with until I get the resources to equip them and limit break them. I may occasionally consider sticking them into the Tactical Class to upgrade their skills, assuming they are not all red skills, because I'm running a permanent shortage of those. Leave them. Use the auto fill on non-oil-costing comissions to give them experience and let them level up on their own. (Auto fill only choses ships that are level 2+, most likely to prevent it choosing enhancement fodder) The result of this is I have a lot of LMB0 ships sitting around in my port at level 70, most without giving them any equipment, or even levelling up their skills. Then I have a large wedge of ships at level 20-35, all in the same position. The simple fact of it all is that I know I don't have the resources for everything, so I don't bother. I just keep using the same-old-same-old until they hit the level cap, then consider replacing them. So far, my plan is working quite well, Tirpitz in my main clearing fleet recently reached level120, so I swapped her out for Alabama due to Alabama's skills all highlighting her as a clearer. The cranes are slowly creeping up from lvl115, so when they reach the cap, I'll probably swap them out for Lusty and Akashi in preparation to tackle world 12 and 13. The vanguard for this fleet is Ning/Ping/Yat Sen, who just don't take damage, so I see no real reason to swap them out even after hitting lvl120. -

You actually bother with those? I haven't bothered since the supply disruption daily weekly was added. You get plenty of purple/gold blueprints so long as your subs are capable of doing the level65/75 versions. I do it all on auto. I can get all of the daily stuff done during my lunch break, so about 40-50minutes? I'll take screenshots of my routine tomorrow and upload them so you can see what I do. I stop playing for a few hours whenever my oil drops to 9000. Set my commissions going focused on the ones that award lots of oil and give it a rest until they are complete. If necessary, I will log back in when they're done just to set up more comissions and leave them going for another couple of hours. Also, how frequently are you doing the 1200oil cost comission? From reddit, it seems those who overuse that one get into trouble with their oil reserves - you don't need to do it on cooldown to keep your ships levelled: the dorm/classroom is for that.
