    Are you [edited]kidding me?

The quality of the thread is the same as the quality of the game mechanics Profile check was mentioned in relation to the "new forum account for a rage post" and "not so smart to put your sig on a fake account" comments. Fubu is the only T8 i have atm since i couldnt farm benson fast enough to be ready for ranked.Playing ,almost exclusively destroyers shouldnt have anything to do with whether or not its right to create teams that consist of 55% dds. Unironically ,its a rage post.Quality wasnt intended. But if you remove the swears it gets way better. Nowhere i said anything about being the best. But being drugged down?Hell yea. I m constantly communicating everything before hand (from "where i am gonna smoke up" to "when i am going for a proximity spot for an enemy dd" ) yet people choose to either camp, snipe, run, yolo and do anything other than push towards objectives. The account was created sometime last year or so,where i played like 80 battles on t2/3 just for the shake of a friend.Came back to the game 6weeks ago and since then my gameplay, skills and stats have been only going up. So i dont think i am being irrational for getting mad when i see on ranked15 the same crap one sees on random t3 matches and i am not being irrational when i expect people who have played at least 300 battles to unlock tier8 ships to be competent and know their roles. Lastly, i stand by my decision to use those words as that is the way i see things.

I use different email for the game, different for the forums. My signature is bellow the rage thread. If you took the time to check you would have seen that the account already has posts and its not one created only to rage. But yea, talk first, think later Edited words in grey.

    Shards!

The map is brilliant. Players are not.
  4. Kite in a fubuki: 6-8 km distance shooting with only stern guns. Factors: Distance and which set of guns are used.Fubu has 2 in its back and 1 infront. Push:When the whole fleet , or part of it stops playing around the same few square kilometers and starts moving towards an objective.Thats either a capped/uncapped flag or enemy base. Also happens when the enemy has less ships on the other side of the objective or a clear way to the second next flag. Measured by: -Step 1:Approximate fleet position.A box of 4-6 or 8 map squares in which usually the fleet stays as a group. With the new changes of 0.5.12.0 ,hopefully board huggers will be less of an issue. I assume they already use some sort of coordinates to calculate distances for dispersion and spotting so it might be a bit tricky but still applicable. -Step 2:calculate if the distance between the 2 fleets goes up or down. -Step 3:Calculate pressure by measuring shots fired from each fleet.Retreating or maneuvering ships tend to shoot less and focus more on getting either behind cover or angle shells. -Step 4:Take into account shot accuracy and health status of both fleets. Repeat untill either objective is capped or enemy fleet dies or enemy fleet is not visible any more. A very general example of how it could work.Ofcourse it needs a shitload of tweaking and testing. Brawl is the <10km fights for battleships and <5km fights for dds. I dont really have any useful info here except that i believe that: On bbs successful brawling comes down to proper angling and on dds on the ability to apply more damage than the other one. There is no numerical value indeed but they can be measured. Ask your self , what is a good position for a bb? -One that allows him to take either no damage or low damage (angled *1). -One that allows him to use many of his guns (angled again) -One that allows him to hit enemy broadsides -One that allows him to shoot things reliably (accuracy aka distance from target) -One that might lead to his death but will protect teams objective (ramming another bb to defend a cap par example) DDs: -One that allows him to attack/defend a cap while fleet can support him(distance from objective, damaged caused by allies to enemies spotted by you, shots fired to target, accuracy) -One that allows him to ambush enemy ships (comes down to distance from either objectives or enemy fleet and island cover(spotted or not)) -One that allows him to make ships turn(*1) -One that allows him to deny passage on enemy fleet (like blind shots on narrow passages or walls of skill) -One that allows him to smokescreen friendly fleet while keeping spotted the enemy. Ofcourse a destroyers proper position is very hard to measure because their use is highly situational. Proper positioning is easier to measure for battleships and cruisers because their job is pretty much the same on every match.Do damage, take low damage, focus fire, assist on objectives, push when needed, start fires and in rare cases cap. On the other hand dds depending on terrain , fleet positioning and fleet setup can serve a shitload of different roles. -Scout,dd hunter,bb hunter, area denial machines, stealthy cappers, ambushers and so on. Situational awareness per se,cannot be measure since its highly abstract. It can however be broken down on the different pieces that make her exist. And its these different parts that are different for each player that make the MM a pain in the [edited]. *1) -There is a mod that shows your angle to the ship you have locked -There is already a mechanism that calculates angles for citadel hits i assume. So even the skill of how well you angle shells can be measured. On the topic of dds,i dont know for the rest of the fellow captains but on a few cases, since its highly situational,i shoot torps not to damage but to force bbs to turn so they can take more damage from my fleet. Did i say anywhere to stop posting?Did i say anywhere "shut up,you are stupid"? I said stop being a useless forum warrior. Because you did nothing more that trying to invalidate peoples opinions and kept white knighting a MM system that many people think its not working properly.
  5. If a system that allows one side dominating the other in the first 3-4 minutes of the game is fine for you and that is the kind of battles you wanna have then i am out of the argument. Then you are one of the few. They are already applying changes to the economy model for tiers 8 to 10 so something must have been wrong there. Economy point wise,i messed up the threads.Thought that someone talked about it here but not. I disagree. I just gave the factors for a pretty much accurate algorithm that can be tested out ,expanded and refined till it is accurate enough for practical use.Thats because the factors that contribute to a win on this game never change and one way or another can be calculated. There will always be exceptions and forced situations that cannot be accounted for but the base for an improved algorithm is there. They already reward more for damage cause by allies to ships spotted by you,a theme that fits well within my "how to track pressure" point for example. And last but not least, stop being a useless forum warrior. You provided no useful insights, ideas or critisism. The only thing you did on the whole thread was to try to invalidate peoples arguments and opinions. It doesnt matter how stupid and idea, suggestion or opinion is. The point of a forum is to share and discuss,so people more qualified than us can track down problems with their product, refine and build upon good ideas and make their product better overall.

WHich teir 8 for ranked battles

I cannot speak for the bb since i dont play these things. Overall , although i dont own it yet,i would say benson > fubuki for close quarters fights in cap zones. Fubuki shines if you have a situation where bensons bow is aiming at your stern at 6+ ranges because of the 2 guns you have on your back and can efficiently push out the benson and brake the chase. Also when you have cruisers to support you killing the enemy dds.If you get a free mid/end game you can truly shine there. Overall, pick the ship in which you have the best performance/are most comfortable playing

    Calling all BB captains

As a dd captain i think you are close but not exactly there. If he is not gonna be able to hit you from behind, why not go to him instead? Assume you know there is a dd defending on a cap and he has no backup. You dont run away. You go bow on (thats the nose of the ship right?!) and eventually he ll run out of space to maneuver so he either retreats or gets spoted. Worst case scenario you take 1 torp. Excercise this with a friend on a training room and eventually you will get a feel for where he might be so you position your self accordingly. Also always assume there are torps incoming. Keep an eye out for spotted dds on your minimap. Try to have a 30-45 degree angle to the area you expect them to come from. Much easier to avoid. Reverse can be your friend. As a dd captain,i hate you
  8. -Stating that if there is not an improvement on the next patch you are gonna quit,is not crying. Creating threads like "omg this needs nerf, that needs nerf, rng sucks,mm sucks" is crying. I took the time and effort to propose a solution to what i think is wrong with the matchmaking. Is it applicable? Could be. Is it my place to find a 100% working solution? No. My place is to enjoy the game, share my input in a constructive way and support the developers both in theory and practical with purchases. -So MM is not crap? WR can prove if you are a skilled player or not? The game is not treated as a bullsh1t arcade although its highly strategical, tactical and teamwork oriented? Or the economy on high tiers is not fucked up? Where am i wrong here and how all these qualify as "vomiting words"? -For a wall of text that, most of it , made no sense you had no problem to respond on each part of it. -You agreed that some of the factor skills that contribute to victory are easily quantifiable yet a few paragraphs later you ,kinda, "deny" my solution. One that instead of reinventing the wheel ,just expands upon the existing one since we already track damage, gun kills, hit ratio etc. Target callers on early game are usually the dds who mark spotted dds for the team to shoot at,or point at cruisers that they need to be taken care of so they can pass and apply pressure on ships behind them. Also target calling happens when a bunch of allied ships needs a specific enemy ship to be prioritized because of either low hp or is about to show broadside. Last but not least we have the crazy f3 spam on an enemy ship that is gonna kill a friendly. You cannot 100% know if the caller knows what he is doing but , again, based on distance from objectives ai can make an educated guess. I am mostly a dd captain who just now starts playing CLs and BBs ,mostly to see how i can better support my group as a dd, so i cant share any better input on that area. Planes were a very general example. -Pressure is messured by how many ships, how fast and at what distance are shooting to a target.Accuracy is a lesser factor here. Would you stay in your position if there where 3-4 enemy ships shooting at you? I would say that mostly you would not stay, but there are few cases where you would stay. Depends on your ship type, the distance and your position,or better your ability to angle or avoid attacks. A dd might have stayed where a CA or a BB would have tried to retreat if they had that option. -And i still cannot understand this "Funny how those who have high "stupid WR" are the ones who feel, that quite often, ones actions can in fact affect to the outcome.". Feel free to rephrase it
  9. I chose to state my opinion in a discussion thread .You chose to be an [edited].
  10. At the moment , the matchmaking system is just crap. Every battle goes the exact same way.One side absolutely dominates the other. Only 1 in 15-20 battles is a close call and is determined by the player ability to do more than just shoot at things. This is not fun even when winning. A stupid WR cannot tell how good you are. Factors that contribute to victory are : -Route planning. -Positioning -Ability to focus fire as a group -Knowledge of what targets and fights to pick and what not. -Situational awareness -Coordination. -Push.kite,brawl techniques -Knowing your effective hit range per ship as a player And a shitload more that i am too mad at the moment to remember. Random MM should mean : "play with players you dont know, of equal skill" not just "play with whoever happened to be on the same pool as you when you clicked the battle button". And i repeat, even when winning i am not having fun if its just 1 side domination. Which is 90% of the battles i fight. You have a heavily teamwork oriented game that is highly strategical/tactical treated like an arcade [edited]for 7 yer olds. There are ways to somehow measure the required skills. Track how many people are hitting the same target. See how important that target is by checking the distance from objectives. Measure how many people hit the target you marked with F3 and how efficiently they did it. If a ships role is AA,check how many planes killed, how close it was to enemy planes. If a cruiser is a natural dd predator measure how much pressure did he apply to enemy dds. And like some people said earlier , the level of stupidity on t8+ cannot be expressed with words. There are people there who not only dont deserve their tier but shouldnt even be playing at all. Of course the fucked up economy on high tiers is a major factor. I am just waiting for the next update. If there is no improvement on economy and gameplay, and if ranked battles dont come to be what i expect them to be i am just gonna uninstall. Playing without having fun is not an option.

    Non Premium competitive cruisers

So far i have played ijn dds up to t8. USN dds up to t5,working my way to t8 IJN t3 bb which i sold on my 3rd battle and IJN cruiser up to t4,with t5 unlocked and waiting to be purchased at some later point. Cruisers on the 20-30 battles i have in them so far seem to fit my style since i always favor agility and general stealth abilities over anything else. With competetive team and ranked battles in mind, what would you propose me to train for in the cruiser class?

    huge fps drop

I m just gonna provide some of my experience. I have the gtx 660 OC. I had to use MSI afterburner to downclock her to stock values to be able to play high end games without getting crashes. As for the nvidia drivers, the latest ones are a joke. After 337 or 327(cant remember the exact number sorry) i started to get an awful performance when playing arma 3 which forced me to roll back and stay there for months. Mostly because i was half asleep i updated my drivers last week.An action that fucked up my wows fps also. Rolled back to 358.50 which seems to work fine for wows. Besides that, after 3-4hours of having the wows client open i need to restart it cause i start getting 10 fps. i5 4690 gtx 660 oc 16g ram 1333 h97-plus Running mostly with every setting on high.

Glorious quotes from the weekend gameplay

I was either playing my Fubuki or Nicholas. Pulled my weight and after i died i stayed to see the battle outcome since we still had a chance to win. Enemy dd caps our base. Friendly bb is moving away.He was 5km from the flag. "Mate, rush him.He has 2k hp left" His glorious responce? Cant,he will citadel me. He was serious.

Am i only one who thinks ....

Ooooooooooooooor..Keep playing cause indeed the dispersion on t3/t4 is a joke. Once you get on higher tiers gets better. Watch youtube videos on how to improve your aim. It helps a lot. Some bbs are not bbs but battlecruisers,so give it time till you learn the ships and figure our whats best for you. Give it another try.

    I just wonder....

Never go in a straight line. Check out the above aiming video. Same youtube series, check out the angling video. Pay attention to the smoke of the ship chimneys. -Almost horizontal = full speed -Vertical = stoped -Light angle close to vertical = 1/2 speed and so on. Check your settings and use alternative view, start zoomed out and maeby select croshair 7 to 9. It really helps once you learn how to use it. Good luck!

(Very) Bad Advice:JPN DDs should not use guns

@ubertron_x Excellent advice @T0byJug I was posting between my battles, fast reading through the thread.I missunderstood, you are correct! And dont know about the rest, but i learned a lot from this thread Out of topic PS:If anyone has any mutsuki/fubuki/shimakaze replays feel free to share them!

(Very) Bad Advice:JPN DDs should not use guns

@T0byJugAssuming both benson and fubu use the same number of guns the benson can shoot 3 times more than the fubu. @T_H_0_R I never said it should be done while being detected. And how many times will you have to contest a cap vs a benson or any other gunboat dd for that matter at ranges higher than 6-7km?I spoke for the caps only.Open seas are whole different matter. What wins caps is the ability to focus fire on spotted dds first and their backup ships right after. If you gentlemen can solo outplay a benson inside a cap zone at 4-6km and live to tell the story i salute you and please share your technique cause i would love to be able to do that. As i already stated,i am new but improving.Got 700 battles in 2 weeks while you have 3k
  23. passwordistooshort

(Very) Bad Advice:JPN DDs should not use guns

Didnt read comments. I am a new player, playing mostly ijn dds. Up to t8 fubuki right now. What i have learned is that you can not contest caps with your guns. Not in the early game. If you shoot while in cap,the cap has no islands to take cover and the enemy team has even half brain you will get primaried by everything. So , no.Using weapons in cap zones is bad for ijn dds. Russian dds on the outside should light them up. Cruisers on the outside should light them up. BBs that are in less than 10km distance should try to light them up. NOT the ijn dds. The problem here is that you and your team made a bad decision. Did NOT support. You said it. Fletcher has 3.3s reload time while the fubuki has 9. Fletcher has 5x1 127mm vs fubukis 3x2 127mm.Take not that fubuki has 2 of its turrets on its back so the only way to use all guns is to show broadside or a very wide angle.Which is more than enough space for an experienced aimer to take you down. Reconsider how you play and the decisions you make. Not force other ships to do stuff they cant.

    Control key and ship turning

I use the left control of my keyboard as a push to talk on teamspeak3. While control is pressed,if you press D it will turn right. While control is still pressed,if you press A to turn the other way around you will stop turning right and go straight . Releasing control while A is still pressed will not turn left. You need to release both control and A and press A again to turn left. Got me killed or ,not so , tactically beached more times than i can count. Any chance to get a hotfix for it at some later update? Thanks in advance

    Suggestions Chat,tutorial,stats,matchmaking

1--Chat -Detachable chat tabs. 1 for ig default messages like SOS,Thank you,Capture that area 1 for normal chatter -Use of @ symbol as a notification @tA "Please defend B". Every member on the division A will get a unique sound notification and the "Please defend B" message. @Hatsuharu "Left enemy mahan on A with 2k hp.Finish it off and cap". Every hatsuharu captain on the team will get this message @player_name "Stay close to me for better AA while we push to B" . Only player_name gets a notification. Everyone can see all the above messages but only the appropriate target will get a sound notification. You could also make the message float on the upper part of the screen so it cant be missed. This one should be able to be deactivated from settings. Should be on by default. Does not apply for messages from enemy team to prevent harassment. 2--Tutorials ingame Now , before we go to the second suggestion lets talk about bad decisions. -Half fleet chasing 1 random target to the corners of the map for 10 minutes. -Wrong priority targets at different ranges. -Out of position captains -Brain dead captains who sail straight for 1-2 minutes eating full torp salvos -Terrain understanding -Inability to provide focus fire -Angling and full broadside bbs vs full broadside bbs.WHEN and WHEN NOT to do it. -Lone wolf t8 battleships or cruisers rushing to cap flags in a match with 4-5 dds on each side And a lot more that i forget at the moment. So , my solution to human stupidity (inb4:sanctioned and warning) and unwillingness of the average player to do some research for his role and ship: Each time you start a new line you will have to go through an ingame tutorial before you are able to join random battles. The tutorial will be consisted of 4 to 6 ,10 minute tops, scripted matches that will only allow specific movements and actions and will introduce our beloved casual player with the above concepts. 3--Stats -Be able to see how many times you have been reported or complimented. I am also tempted to say that you could find a way to include these on matchmaking and also find a way to make people use them more but i guess its farfetched (like the tutorial suggestion above ) 4--Matchmaking -No more 2 carrier on each side matches -No more matches with more than 3dds on each side Having an instant match is epic i cant disagree with that, but going to a t6-7 match with 2cvs on each side and 4-5 dds is a nightmare. For everyone. I really wouldnt mind waiting 2 or 3 minutes to get a match if i knew it was gonna be balanced and fun for everyone.
