    Ranked Battles S5 [all rank battle topics merged]

    The moment you allowed Ranked to be a free gift festival and every *#^$^$ to grind there captains,ships and consumables without any kind of qualification you failed. Add a 2 week qualification period before ranked. There , per ship,each captain will have to get a ,lets say, 52% WR and average damage within certain limits on his ship of choice within 60-80 solo battles. Harder requirements for CV captains to allow only the very skilled ones to compete with cvs. Remove all irrevocable ranks. Remove all rewards except for ranks 5 to 1. Add a maximum of battles that can be fought per day or season. People with 1k ranked matches and 40% Wr shoudlnt even be allowed there. Ranked available on 2 timezones per day. Hypothetically : 11.00-15.00 and 18.00-22.00. Cap ship types on : 1 cv , 2 bb , 2 or 3 CL ,2 dds. On a win: Only the top 4 get a star.Base xp bellow 500 loose a star. On a loss:Only the top 2 dont loose a star IF they managed to get more than 700 or 800 base xp. Remove all xp gains for a loss. Half xp gains on a win only for the top 4 or 3. A second Ranked league for those who didnt qualify.

    ^ This.My only 2 cents: -SE is a must especially if you plan to go ranked or in team battles. -What i generally try to do is spot the enemy dd while slowly moving towards his general location and wait for my fleet to take 10-20% of his hp out.If that doesnt happen i do not engage.

    Benson and avoiding incoming fire

    What i pretty much ask is for tricks on how you avoid incoming fire in the 3 distance ranges: -Up to 6km -6-10km -10+km 6km: While moving parallel to the enemy dd come to a full stop and then accelerate again. If they are not paying attention to my funnel smoke i can avoid 2-3 salvos which can be game changing. If anyone else takes notice of the move i m pretty much a sitting duck. 10+km: Angles of 15-20 degrees seem to throw off most peoples target. Easy to angle out of the inc shells. I usually try to pay attention in what order and how often enemy shells are coming so i can angle pretty much versus 3-4 ships in different positions. Any other much appreciated tricks?

    Club-hauling - Valid BB strategy?

    -Check out every you tube video on battle ships(Jamin411 is the best presenter imo,TheMightyJingles,Flamu has GREAT performance videos if you are not annoyed by a general cocky behavior and Notser are some that come to my mind) -Check out the you tube series Captains Academy.Mostly about aim and torps.Understanding how torp prediction works will help you evade almost all of the enemy dd torps. -Some bbs are battleships and some battle-cruisers meaning they are weaker and cant tank that effectively. -Reverse is your friend -Never repair one fire.Let it burn and then heal up.Repair only 2 or more fires. -You are needed pushing towards cap and not on the borders of the map sniping,hiding or chasing enemy ships that dont contribute to combat. -When i am on my bbs i usually start by saying something like :I plan to push INSIDE the A cap.Is anyone going to assist me?Also i would really love some cruiser support and fighter planes there as well please! If i am on a battle-cruiser and there is a bb close to me : Bismarck if you push inside A-cap i will back you up mate and can take the front for a while but my battlecruiser wont last long without support so i d love some cruiser and fighter planes escort please! Or if i spawn in the middle of the map where i have visual on 2 caps:I will push inside A-cap and keep my weapons with HE aimed at B cap.I will try to support you there dd for as long as i can but keep an eye on your mini-map for when i wont have visual on you mate! -When you see a friendly smoke,get inside. -I usually prefer a 15-20degree angle and using only front weapons.When you are sure no1 is gonna shoot you,you can open broadside and use all of your guns. -Control + X locks guns on bearing. Shift + X locks guns on area,this way no matter where you turn your guns will always try to point where you locked them. -Shoot dds up to 10km distance.Even if you miss you still apply pressure to them. -Stay with the group and not alone.When solo, enemy cv can rape you. -Be smart.Assist caps,pick the best route,don't hide,don't snipe,don't go alone. -Coming to a full stop to shoot is a bad idea. -Slightly changing course and changing your speed often, is a good idea -Enable alternate game mode something from options,perma zoom out,player panels.Use shift to zoom in fast.I use static croshair 7 one tick zoomed out from default.In this setup at low tiers.Learn how your croshair works. -Don't listen to the forum posts whining about bbs.If you feel some ships kills you or harasses you easily or too often you are doing it wrong.BBs are the most OVERPOWERED class of the game atm. -Try to save your free xp for the next hull upgrade when you unlock a new ship.Stock hulls are a pain in the [edited].

    Its easy(-ish) to shoot a not moving ship inside its smoke. Grab a buddy and experiment on training room. I m sure you ll figure it out ;D

    1-Agreed.On top of that we need an ELO-like system and not a poor group finder like the one we currently have. 2-Smoke is annoying but same goes for Radar,Hydro and incompetent CV captains.Yet they are part of the game balance and mechanics.After the introduction of RN cruiser line every match has 3-4 cruisers instead of the usual 1-2 and that is great.Someone has to keep bbs and dds on check right?And that comes from a dd captain. 3-Agreed 4-Agreed

    Intentional TKing and griefing should be punished harder and not by an automated in game system. At the moment the freakin support team refuses to take action even when you send them replays of it.

    Torpedos pass through ships, NO DAMAGE!

    If the torps are launched in close range they need some distance to arm. That distance is where the green angle indicator starts when you select your torps.If they hit before it ,they will do no damage. Damage saturation is another reason it might not have done any damage at all or even the ships hitbox. I cant remember what ship but i was checking its model either on port or online. Right before his propeller on the back there was a spot where it was shallower meaning a torp could go through there and not hit at all. I think i was checking that cause i saw it happen on a video. Dont quote me on that though since i am not even sure if its supposed to work this way Another reason could be that torps were on their range limit and the ship that got hit was turning towards them. This way his back and middle were out of the torps range,so it just seemed it went through it and only 1 managed to score a hit. Other than that,lag or desync could be the answer.

    -Watch youtube videos on every ship on the line -Notice from where they are torping. (from the side moving parallel) -Never torp from back or when they are running away -If you are moving toward the target and he is moving towards you pay attention to how much space you need to approach,torp,turn around and escape. -Dont be afraid to torp outside of your torp range if he is approaching you. -Review again and again and again this : http://forum.worldofwarships.asia/index.php?/topic/7456-an-illustrated-guide-to-hitting-things-apart-from-islands-with-your-torpedoes/ -Watch youtube videos on Nicholas,faragut,mahan and benson.Notice how they ambush.Extremely useful. -Your role is to cap,spot,damage,protect with smokescreens.I smoke only division mates as 99% of the time randoms will just rush through my smoke. -Unfortunatelly do not rely on your fleet.You have different priorities and more often than not,they will not protect / back you up when you need it.Learn to not need them. -Learn how to perform in close fights with enemy dds. I usually go bow on in a 10-15 degree angle till they torp.99% of the time they will torp on the indicator and at that angle is easy to turn out and avoid.Then you torp. While they try to get a good angle for torps you keep using your gun(s). -If you have no way to avoid an enemy low tier bb put your bow on and rush him.Same 10 degree angle.Once they shoot wiggle out.Close distance up to 2-3km ,open your side and torp them to hell. Edit: This gem i just found Do not be afraid to be aggresive. Do not be afraid to use your guns when safe or when you need to distract someone. It takes practice and time. You have a shitload of things you need to know by heart but its more than doable and much rewarding. Google and youtube are your friends. Watch every video you can on every dd you can.Every ship can teach you something different. Good luck and fair seas

    As people said any t5/6 you are good with. My personal preference is the t5 ijn dd minekaze. I only use the 8k camo and can get ~100k cr 80-85% of the time

    Concealment expert or Survivability expert for US DDs?

    I have DE and CE. AFT is useless because of the arcs. With CE you can still stealth fire close to your max range but again the shell arcs dont make that easy. If your focus is dd hunt you will never regret CE and SE. Same goes if you plan to do ranked and friendly clan matches
