Gotta "love" how WG treat new players
ForlornSailor replied to yippeeKIyayMFRK's topic in General Discussion
Can you atleast try to engage in a reasonable discussion with people that reply to you? Without borderline insulting everyone & ignoring what they state? Or is this simply a rage topic instead of an attempt gaining information? Because every piece is a duplicate... right. and what does it have to do with new players anyway. -
Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
ForlornSailor replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
YOU posted the screen yourself with 50% of the participants beeing CVs. IVE been in games with 3 CVs + 2 DDs per side myself. WHY this happened is basic logic and knowledge, how the matchmaker works. It has to start a game like this, once one of the CVs sat for 5 mins in the queue and forced a game to start with what is around. This happens constnatly cuz the queue is filled with CVs. Proof? Do it yourself. Take a T4 CV - you will spend a long time in the queue before it starts. Take a DD and you will have instant matchmaking. Big surprise: almost all the time you get a match with 2 CVs (its the hard limit) and LESS then 10 other ships. So why dont you stop your "i cant see it, not to my experiance" talk while the proof is right in front of your nose - and better: YOU posted it yourself. Sigh. Because what you see in the first moment of the queue is often a cashed display of your prior queue. This is also commenly known. Ive had the queue show me 2 CVs last week when I started to play Ranked. Need I remind you - its T7! Explain this? http://maplesyrup.sweet.coocan.jp/wows/ranking/20200523/eu_week/average_ship.html Look it up. 11372 games for Hosho 13011 games for Langley 4363 games for Hermes = 28.746 games on T4 CVs last week 3807 games on Myogi. oops. and thats still one for the most played T4 surface ships how about Bourrasque - 698 games. lel. Shenyang - 863 games Nah you think, when you add up all T4 ships you will come to 287.460 games? Because that you be you 10% CV - 90 % surface ships. -

Hey, ive played 1 sub game yesterday. By the time, I reached the cap and wanted to spot the DD, half my team was gone. Since I dont care about that game mode, for the first time in 10094 battles - I went back to port. Alive, with full health and 0 damage dealt. I came middle of the XP table. Dont ask me how. -

Cant you even do simple math? Or are you deliberatly trying to force-shut your own eyes because you just want to hold you CV-defence line? When per hour 500 CVs and 500 other class ships are in the queue then matchmaker HAS NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO PUT 2 CV + 2 OTHER SHIPS IN ONE GAME! The reason for that is the hard cap of 2 CVs per side. And the reason for CVs making up almost 50% of the population on T4 is their freakin overpowered state. People that have a hard time reaching 40% WR in this game suddenly feel like little gods playing Hosho. But yea whinging about the "matchmaker" is much easier. Totally ignoring the fact that its LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE to build a 12 player game out of thin air when there are only 8 players avaialble and 4 of them are CVs - and the other players in the Queue are CVs ASWELL ! now stop arguing about this because these are god damn FACTS. When you enter the queue on T4 you see it yourself. It looks like this: 20-1-1-2. -

Sure. I also had to play 141 games to get past Orion. And all with insane damage. Damn those grinds. Grinding has also gotten so much worse over the years. There was a topic about it recently and I think it was Flambass, who uncovered, that its basically impossible during one persons lifetime to reach T10 these days. -

Sure. But I hope you understand, that it will mean, you will sit in the queue fpr the following amout of time: ∞ Unless the matchmaker gets the following rule: possible number of CV per team: 1;2;12. Then we can empty the queue every couple of minutes -

What Battleships line do you guys reccomend me?
ForlornSailor replied to Shikashima's topic in General Discussion
@Widar_Thule you are as offtopic as it can be... @Dutch_destroyer_sniper US BBs are worth a thought. T5 to T7 are quite meh these days, mainly due to the speed. if you can handle that, then even they are good. Colorado guns are really nice. T6/T7 can also be grinded in scenarios pretty easy. NC on T8 is an awesome ship. I would also describe the high tier US BBs as the "jack of all trades" so its a good choice to grind that first. From there you can judge better yourself, what you are looking for and pick the 2nd line accordingly. -
WG this HDR reworked Northern Lights map doesn't look nice
ForlornSailor replied to Atorpad's topic in General Discussion
The nature in the north is underestimated. I can only advice everyone to take a trip. Make it two actually. One in the winter, the other in the summer. Deep winter and the contrast of the neverending days during june & july is something, everyone should experiance. Im just going to blatently advertise for my home country (forget Norway. Its too expensive anyway. Even Norwegians go to Finland for shopping ^^) There are Hotels with entire glassroofs so you can watch the auroras from your bed: https://arcticsnowhotel.fi/northern-lights-glass-igloos-rovaniemi-lapland-finland/ -
What Battleships line do you guys reccomend me?
ForlornSailor replied to Shikashima's topic in General Discussion
Yea sure. Global, public and complete statistics are fake news, yet your own statistics are the real deal. And even more funny is, that you think, its the ship, that determins the winner of a game, and not the player. -
WG this HDR reworked Northern Lights map doesn't look nice
ForlornSailor replied to Atorpad's topic in General Discussion
That (and pretty much all) pictures from aurora borealis is not how it looks in reality tho. All Pics are made using extrem long exposure times and/or extrem light sensitive cams. That makes it look atleast 1000 times more intense then in reality. Its also pretty much the only way, to put it into a picture, because with any normal equipment you simply end up with a completly black foto - trust me , ive tried. So, sadly, if one hasnt seen a northern light with his own eyes - you cant get an idea of how it is in reality. I was trying to look around and found something more realistic and this is the best I could find: And even here you have to keep in mind, this is a extremly light senstive camera so in reality, its much darker. You get the idea by seeing how bright the trees are, as if they are in broad daylight, while its actually in the middle of the night. -
How do you Translate win rate into a good PR rate
ForlornSailor replied to Soft_Kitty_Warm_Kitty's topic in General Discussion
I didnt. It was a mere example how PR fails to reflect the actual impact and skill displayed in one game. Nothing more - nothing less. And as such a viable example on how PR can be very disconnected from actual skill. I could have sat back and farmed HE damage on the BBs, easly reaching 3x the damage and thus for sure a 2000+ PR - but with a 100% guarenteed loss. I think @DFens_666 can show you a screen of a Zao farming his BB for the entire game, dealing over 100k damage to him, yet failed to kill him and lost the game in the process. Hooray for fire damage. Didnt dispute. However with IFHE Chapayev dealt more damage, thus reaching a higher PR. I had also something like 100 games shorchs prior to IFHE, took her out once WITH IFHE for the lolz - instant own damage record. The thing is: 99 out of 100 discussion about a players PR are dishonest. Almost every discussion ive witnessed in this forum over several years turns right away into "AAAH but this stat is bad so you suck". People ignore everything to take the higher ground. They dismiss objectivity and facts. They dismiss, if that persons says "well this ship was my first T10 its years ago, I improved since then". Nah, theyll still pick on that stat. Ive seen it myself a lot. Heck, it happened a few days ago on this forum again. Someone skimming through my stats and finding my solo stats, poiting out, Id suck. Good job finding over 3 year old stats, because Ive never played solo after that. What does it tell about my current skill level? nothing :) And thats why proships.ru is a nice source. You can have a look at your own stats on a certain time period, like 2020 only : https://proships.ru/stat/eu/p/540427929-ForlornSailor/all/h/2020-01-01~2020-05-05/ -
How do you Translate win rate into a good PR rate
ForlornSailor replied to Soft_Kitty_Warm_Kitty's topic in General Discussion
And thats where you are wrong. Because if that would be so, your answer to my question here: would be "the Yamato is the better player". Which he clearly is not. No discussion about it. I dont care if his PR is higher, he is dogs****. -
How do you Translate win rate into a good PR rate
ForlornSailor replied to Soft_Kitty_Warm_Kitty's topic in General Discussion
Ah guys, PR doesnt paint the whole picture. There are so many things that influence it. Couple of examples: - PR is old. It doesnt take into account meta-changes. My PR on russian cruisers is low because I played them before IFHE existed. 52k avg damage on Chapa was decent back then. After IFHE, the PR just dropped and dropped without me playing the ship. So now im a couple of hundred points lower then I used to be. Does the PR displayed now tell something about my skill/match impact back then? Nope. - I had a game once with Takao where I had like... 35k damage. All on DDs that I activly hunt with some very nice surprised comming around islands to perma spot them, predicition torps between caps etc. PR? something like 1100. Oh yea, That was definatly an average game. I replaced my DDs, that died early and outrighted carried my team to victory, because I saw what had to be done. Why I dont have more damage? I had to stay undetected to be able to sneak up on the DDs so that we have a chance to win. So most of the time I didnt shoot my guns. - Playing in divisions lowers your PR. Especially when you play with other high skilled players. They "take" "your" dmg and kills. - I focus on DDs with every ship I have. PR doesnt take into account, on what you deal the damage, only raw damage counts. There are HE-shooting yamatos around with 90k avg damage, because they farm fire damage on BBs. They have a higher PR then a say Missouri with 65k avg damage, using its radar and stealth to engage DDs and thus gain matchimpact. Is the Yamato the better player because his PR is higher? lel. When you skimm through the ships stats, you find such players on pretty much all ships (exeption the RN CLs without HE ^^), that farm dumb HE damage. And you notice them thx to the combo of high PR + low WR. There are millions more of examples that. PR is overrated. Same are the one-liners like "you have to look at this or that". If you want to HONESTLY judge a players skill by his stats, you rate every player individually. But in most cases, in this community, stat evaluating is mere stat shaming, looking for a weakness in the stats and pointing that out (in most cases its not a weakness, as explained above, just someone desperatly trying to talk himself into IM BETTURR THAN THAT DUUUDE"). So now stop thinking about PR. -

Insert click bait title here - Not a CV rant
ForlornSailor replied to Saltface's topic in General Discussion
Even if so: it doesnt matter. As long as you make your plane fly home with 1 health, no AA damage mattered. At all. AA vs plane health in the current form is a 1-0 binary-check. Either you kill the plane or not. If you dont, the plane magically returns to full health. And thats what really separates the boys from the men. -

From now on, if I see your T8 CV on my side in a T6 game, ill push you into the enemys with my BB using you as a meat shield. That should speed up the process -
Well, thats why I asked him for his personal view on it. It was a sencere question. Anyway. My personal view is, that a random dude over the internet cant insult you. Or wish anything bad on you which then comes true. Doesnt mean I condone such behavoir. If you care enough, take all the evidence and send it to support. This works, ive done it before - not because of words tho, but because of actions. If a friendly keeps shooting at me, pushing me out of my smoke or stuff like this. Things like that anger me much more than someone writing something redicolous on the internet, which only shows his lowlevel of education and missing social skills. So he kinda insults himself.

Let me ask you this question: do you think, a comment like this actually gives your kids cancer? aka you think it has an impact in the real world?
