So is this the future of not detonating?
ForlornSailor replied to Fat_Maniac's topic in General Discussion
The problem is, that its again biased against classes. Not only do CVs not detonate at all (still waiting for the reason why, WG..) but the 2nd master race has a very low chance aswell. And ofc, who detonates the easiest? DDs! Hm, lets call it "classism" and poke some lefties? Maybe I can get the cancel-culture on board, so they will start a worldwide shitstorm against WG, because of "classism" against DDs & CV-supremcy? No company can widthstand their anger -
Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
ForlornSailor replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
One of the problems (its not the only cause tho) is the matchmaking monitor. There seems to be a growing number of players, that straight out refuse to play, when they see, their team is at a disadvantage. Its kinda insane, because very often, these people are the cause, atleast to a degree, for their team to show up with a lower overall winrate. And quite frankly, I think, tools like mmm and others have a negative impact on the game. They shouldnt exist, they serve no real value. I admit, that I do sometimes check a certain player, especially the CVs in ranked, when I dont trust their names. It makes me chose how to play. And yea, even that is actually wrong. Now as fas as blocking such tools.. I see this as a bit tricky. After all, one could still run the names on a laptop next to him thought wows-numbers, if you REALLY wanted to. There would only be one option: at the start of the game - dont show the names of the players. And I actually think, this might be a good solution... You dont really need that information. -

Ah, great, so punish people, that actually care about winning and teamplay, so wows can become more of a shitshow? Is that what you are saying? How about you become better yourself, so you can be that force multiplier? And just for the record: the primary source of balance issues are players, that are not interested in playing the game and the ones that dont manage to go past 40% WR and avg damage of 20k in their tier X BB. Believe it or not, but if the enemys play decent and not brainless, even a 3x division of unicum players has not many options left. -

well you had an afk Mogami and a 3x divi of really good players against you - what you want mm to do about it? how should the mm forsee, that one on your team is going to afk, for whatever reason? I know, if wouldnt have changed the outcome of the match, but still? -
Unsportsmenlike behaviour problem (edited*)
ForlornSailor replied to Rage_Unchained's topic in General Discussion
Thats indeed a factor. Right now, I dont have much time to spend on gaming. And I want to actually relax and have a good time, once I have an hour or two. Sadly, as much as I wanted it to - this game does not guarenteed it for me as of this moment. So I play something else (eventhought I rather prefer wows, if I only look at the game). It also leads to very weird behavoir, which I have developed over the years. For example when I have 3 decent random games in a row (with decent I refer to decent teammates AND an enemy team, that actually puts up a fight) then I usally - quit for the day. This actually doesnt make sense, one would say, but since I know how abysmal many games are, I also know, im due for a really bad game, with insults, teamkilling, yolos, rofl-stomps or what not. Same goes for Ranked: It even often happens, that I call it quits after one game - a really good game. Decent team, everything worked out, you win and you are actually satisfied with the game. Then I look at the "battle" button and think: well, it can only go downhill from here. It has become very weird. -
Maybe the underlying problem OP actually is more upset about, has something to do with a player on his team torping him? ;)

Unsportsmenlike behaviour problem (edited*)
ForlornSailor replied to Rage_Unchained's topic in General Discussion
I mean he cant remove the name from the video anyway and its viral either way thx to Jingles. Besides that, "players" like that, imho, have lost all rights to be sheltered. I understand why you are writing this but yea, in my book - hang em and hang em high. Which brings me to: Exactly. There is no excuse for what this guy is doing. And he isnt the only one. You see it in ranked quite often. Or what is the purpose of a cruiser popping speedboost, going stright for the B cap, then giving broadside and be gone right away? Yes, I reported some of those players and yes, I can confirm you guys take actions, because I like to bookmark the wows-numbers profile of such players. Ive seen them not playing random games for exactly 14 days shortly after I send such reports so I assume they got 14 days banned - and then returned, usually doing again what they do. Just IP ban them. Or lock their accounts for thousands of games into coop as suggested - eventhough they will even upset coop players there. These "players" activly destroy our game and your business aswell @YabbaCoe. People acting like the one in this case here are the single most biggest factor for me, why I dont want to play this game anymore. And when I dont play - I dont spend. Im for sure not the only one. And the more players, that actually care about winning and playing you drive away, the higher will be the ratio of decent players vs ... "that". Which will ruin more and more games and drive more and more players away. So bottomline: its in all our interests, to remove these people from the game as quick as possible and as hard as possible. -

Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
ForlornSailor replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Yes I did. But you say, correct me if I got it wrong: you only lost because the guys with the good stats on the enemy team enjoy better mm and WG gives you bad mm. So their Winrate means nothing and they actually arent good players. So the enemy team is actually not good,, according to you. Then why dont you beat them? Whats actually stopping you? -
Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
ForlornSailor replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Lets assume you are right - shouldnt you guys, who get Shaft´ed by WG for... whatever reason, beat us, the ones who enjoy the glorified mm for... whatever reason us in clanwars, KotS and everywhere? Yet, forr some reason, we see the same guys come on top of those competitions aswell. And another thing strikes me in that logic. So good players with pink WR arent good. They are just enjoying awesome mm, right? awesome mm means what, they get better players on their team, right? How do you idetifiy them? because they have pink stats aswell. But you just claimed, they arent good players, they are just getting lucky with mm. So they are ALL just lucky with mm while beeing worse players than you are - so you claim. Then why dont you beat them in randoms aswell?? Afterall, they suck! you are better! What is this logic? -
then you have reached your personal limit / skill wall. We cant all be awesome players, thats just the way it is.

Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
ForlornSailor replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Are we surprised? The guys with higher PR are frustrated by the state of the game and keep away from Randoms more and more. They are beeing replaced by people with 100 games, that bought a high tier premium after the 4th game in T2. The overall median is like that. If we would take a snapshot of players playing in the past 24 hours, it sure as hell isnt even close to 48/49%. -
Oh, Z-46 / Z-52 are perfect for Ranked, hardly gets any better.

ranked = too much frustration, please help
ForlornSailor replied to Senaika's topic in General Discussion
Do you understand, that the difference between 37,5, 50 and 62,5% over the course of 8 games is ONE resp. TWO games? Aah wait, you attack and stat shame a person above because of 8 games of which he lost ONE too many but now you defend sucking for over 5000 battles? Which adds up to over 800 hours of gaming time? Anyway, you can see recent winrate, I hope you know that, right? And someone, who hasnt figured it out during 5000 games and is still pulling this WR, is a bad player. Its just another excuse trying to hide behind your high number of games played. End of story. -

Clan Battles / Brawls /Tournements......... WG Please Read.
ForlornSailor replied to Graeme17O1's topic in General Discussion
Thats why there are different clans with different approaches. Also, every individual is different. For some, playing 8 hours on 6 days a week is bare minimum. Others play 4 games a week and already feel, that was one game too many. So if some guys in the clan want to participate in everything while others dont - they dont fit together in one clan. Sure, you can put the blame on the increased number of events running at the same time, but it actually doesnt make a difference. Also, peoples live change over time. Im running one of my busiest years ever so I dont have much time for the game at all. Id like to have more, I used to have more but right now - I cant. But im not complaining about the game and nobody in my clan forces me to put in more so everything is fine. Bottomline is this: Sure. But the choice is still yours/ours. ignore it or it will burn you out. And thats the advice you should give your guys aswell or take yourself. Because if you are right with your conclusions (which I agree with) then how do you think, are the chances, WG will change? Especially by asking them on the forums, while at the same time still participating in everything? Ignore it. If the vast mayority ignores it, they will not see enough revenue and prolly tune down the pace again. Atleast the chance is higher, imho.- 82 replies

Fire damage on ( German vs French bb's )
ForlornSailor replied to goodnames_gone's topic in General Discussion
Yes and No. Lets imagine a situation where a BB with low health pool (lets say Jean Bart) faces a low caliber DD, that only shoots your belt (so does not deal any direct damage). Then you change the Jean Bart with a Kurfürst, which has way more health. In both situations, if you take only fire damage, both BBs will die at the exact same moment, after the exact same numbers of fires. It doesnt even matter how much you healed, because that is also connected to your maximum health and is percentage based - only expections are ships with improved heals, like RN BBs or Iowa f.e. -
The other side of the coin is: You dont help the DD-class as a whole if you keep strengthening the DD-hunting abilities of [some] DDs. What is proposed for Z-52 or german DDs would straight out make them completly OP in the right hands. It would remove the tiny weakness they have, when using their one-trick-pony to bully caps or fight DDs. I had a Jutland charging my Z-46 while I was on 1100 health and he almost full last week. He died. May I ask why he got within 3 km to you? you know you dont need to sit IN the smoke to keep blocking the LoS AND keep him in your hydro?

How you manage to perform in Maass will forever stay a mystery to me. I love german DDs and overperform in pretty much all of them compared to other DDs but Maass... Like this weeks Ranked: -

Clan Battles / Brawls /Tournements......... WG Please Read.
ForlornSailor replied to Graeme17O1's topic in General Discussion
Sure, thats true about the scedule of ranked and clan battles, no argument there, I agree with you. But you are kinda falling into the FOMO-trap, which WG is setting up for you. You dont need those new ships. All those awesome, shiny ships, I grinded in the last years - I hardly played more then 10 games in most of them. And eventhough they might look awesome, OP, special or whatnot on the first glance - its just your mind playing tricks on you. So why would you grind hours and hours just so you can play that ship 5 times? Do you need Somers to perform in randoms, clan battles or Kots? Nah, just take Gearing. I even prefer Gearing over Somers. You think you need Austin? Take Minotaur. Shikishima? Take Yamato. Marceau? Grozovoi is even better in randoms. It really doesnt matter. Basically what @159Hunter already said. As did I. But I cant put in 5 to 6 evenings per week and neither do I play the full duration of clanwars anymore, because I noticed, my concentration drops hard after 2 to 3 hours when constantly playing the top clans especially. So I jump out after 2 to 3 hours max and let someone else take over. In SHAFT, thats not a problem at all. I still compete on the top level, I still get to play TWA, NOCAP and all the other top clans but im not seeing myself in the first row. I would need to put in a lot more efford aswell to claim such a place. Bottomline: it comes down to your own decision. When you yourself notice, its too much for you, which is obviously the case, then take a step back. You wont change the mind of WG either way, not with discussing in the forums, thats for sure. Trust me, I and the others here speak from experiance.- 82 replies
