Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
ForlornSailor replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
So what are you expecting? those are all 2x divisons in your example. Ofc super unicums division with super unicums in 99% of the case, and potatos like to surround themself with other vegetables. Should the mm take the divisions appart and place those two on the opposite side of each other? And dont try to point the finger at the third guy andtry to tell me, that mm should "balance" the teams by placing a vegetable as a sidedish to the super unicums always while putting a lonley super unicum into a bowl of red veggies. Because that would need to happen each and every time then, thus totally screwing super unicums, that play alone, since they dont see anything else then deep red & clueless players in their team. Not to mention the tomato-front gets to be hard carried from super unicums each and every time. But I have a solution for your problem: allow divisions of 3 in the next 3x3 ranked sprint. Yes, im actually serious, would be much better for everyone. -
That shall teach you to ignore the glorious masterrace and try to play a DD! (had to learn the same lesson...)

Proposal to a general change of premium ships, make them count for something.

Will you stop giving them bad ideas? Premium ships dont make more free XP... -
Just a taste of what is coming >_<

Well, just because you have a tire fire with toxic waste going on, doesnt mean its ok to throw some nuclear waste on top. Its not about overestimating (atleast for me it aint) but I wouldnt want to have that ship on my side in 95% of the cases (depending on who plays her), because I know exactly how our super intelligent playerbase will make use of this ship. -

Yup I see equally many clueless people in silver ships as in premium ships. -
Even if you are right about playing T3 - then what you are saying is, that we can remove T3 from the game, since its unplayable.

Ranked Sprint 13, How did you do?
ForlornSailor replied to Migantium_Mashum's topic in General Discussion
We did a little. Started with Alaska/Jutland combo, since I predicted DDs to be strong and I usualy prefer DDs - but too often I got pushed away with hydro from the new german ships and then you are really handicapped in a 2vs3 situation... Switched to 2xBB, played for crossfire, which either worked like a charm or started to be really hard when we had a 3rd useless guy and the enemys realized it or it was skewed from the start thx to the pick of our third guy. We had a game with 2x Georgia + Alaska as enemys and we had a ... Neptune with radar of all things as 3rd guy. Enemys saw through it (where do all the intelligent players all of a sudden come frome? In randoms nobody understands objectives, points, time...) and then gl to work 2 vs 3 when you need to push against reversing enemys, that have scattered in three positions and execure crossfires (with an Alaska that is basically a mini BB aswell). I mean one could say the enemys played it well, sure, no arugment there, it just sucks bigtime when its decide from the start since 1 of the 6 players brought a useless ship... -

I suspect it might help aswell. Funny thing is, that usualy, it wasnt the enemy division, that beat us, but rather our third guy "playing" w/e the F he wants in combination with the random 3rd guy on the enemy team atleast beeing solid if not better. We´ve seen one game, where the 3 enemys executed perfect teamplay (we´ve also seen a random DD smoke up the enemy division and then proceed to spot for them) while your 3rd guy either yoloed in the cap or went to the map border. map border? in THIS gamemode? whats wrong with people... -
Ah just admit it - you are fed up with CVs aswell !

What will you bring to upcoming "Thirteenth Ranked Sprint" Tier IX 3 vs 3 ?
ForlornSailor replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I somehow remember reading, that its 1 ship per class but I couldnt find it anymore. Asked that in the announcement topic in the other forum section, but yabbacoes answer was "most likely not" which doesnt really help... Im also not sure if classes will be directly matched or now (as in 3 BBs could potentialy matched against 3 DDs or not) Guess we shall see tomorrow As for line ups: if you can bring 2 ships of the same class, there are sooo many possibilites. You just have to pick ships that synergize well together. Actually looking forward to this and got quite a few ideas to play around with. As im grinding a few T9, we might just end up trying different things. Most likely gonna be over pretty quick tho so not that much grinding will happen. -

Yes, because your Battleship has 16 seperate sections that all can burn - and ofc Smolensk has an absolute hitrate of 100% no matter the skill of the player. And also the Smolensk will hit each of the 16 sections with exactly 1 shell to forfill your glorious match gymnastics. -
No argument there. Its kinda what im trying to point out: for the best players in the this game, the usual boundries of whats possible and what not kinda vanish. And you definatly belong to the group of best players - if we are talking about top 2% or top 5% doenst matter much in the context. At the same time, there are about 80% of players in the same RU cruisers, whos radar usage is between somewhat usefull and completly useless. You can transfer this same situation over to CVs. For the top CV players, everything is a walk in the park, they dominate each and every game, nothing matters to them. But they are only a few out of 100. If we would have atleast half of the playerbase beeing really good with radar usage, it would be a huge problem for the game, I agree. (same about CVs - image every 2nd game you face a CV that kills ships at will). The game is kept (somewhat) in balance by the masses of bad players. It kinda holds true for each and every situation you look at.
-
So the radar cruisers ofc always play perfect, use their radar in those exact moments when the DD is in range and can be shot at, while the DD is too stupid to stay out of radar range, know when the radar is on CD, use terrain to bait the radar etc... Yea, if you see the world like this, your logic make sense. Meanwhile, my highest survivability in the last 2 years is in - DDs. Even with all those nasty radar ships, CV rework, etc.
-
Yea but I recall reading, that there will be a max for 1 ship for each class in this sprint, as in there can not be 2 DDs f.e. - eventhough it might be me mixing up something... but since @Yamashiro42 seem to have picked up the same info somewhere? I dont know. Guess we will see on friday :)
-
Thats exactly what I had in mind! I kinda recall reading it somewhere aswell.

ForlornSailor replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Yea sure. Im the best player in the entire game, but I stop myself from playing, since im afraid I might lose the spot of highest winrate. (for whatever reason you would think so) but your logic gets even better: One stops playing to keep looking at the stat page to wank about the spot of the highest winrate. Man, you really got some weird thinking going on. Im guessing, you have never been anywhere close to beeing a top player in any game. They have a way different thinking then what you think... -
Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
ForlornSailor replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Maybe thats actually where a lot of misconceptions come from? People expect to have 50% players a around them, yet the reality is, that 50% isnt the average winrate across the board (its 47,% afaik tho, not 45% but I dont have the source avaialble right now. Its below 50% for sure). So when they have matchmaking monitor open and see a lot of red / below 50%, they blame matchmaking. Yet its just working with whats available and the average is actually below 50%. This is inline with the constant whining about beeing low tier. People expect f.e. to be 50% of the time top tier and 50% of the time low tier. The reality however is, that way more players play T10 ships then they play T9 ships. And again, T9 is played more often then T8, then T8 more often then T7 ... and so on. This means, its mathemaically impossible to be even on high/low tier when you f.e. play a T7 ship. There simply isnt enough material around to put you in T5/T6 games, yet a lot of games with T8/T9 ships needs to be filled with T7 ships. Does that suck for the player in the T7 ship? yes ofc. but you cant change it? There are a few artifical way, yes. Like you you could put 9 T8 ships in a game and add 2 T7s and 1 T6, so you keep the "balance" of 50% of the time beeing up/low tiered, since you can work around the lower numbers of lower tier ships avaialble in theory. But now the question must be asked: What is better? Do you really want to be one of the 2 or 3 low tier ships in 50% of the games, when you are low tier, instead of having more low tier ships around when low tier? And also, this would mean, that when you are top tier in your T7 f.e., 80% of the ships would be T7 aswell with an additional 2 to 4 ships T5+T6. This is also simple math, given by what people play. -
