CB Season 11 : Feedback & Discussions topic.
ForlornSailor replied to thiextar's topic in General Discussion
Maybe because Russia doesnt have Daylight Saving Time anymore? A sensible thing actually. But our EU-behemoth once again cant get moving so we have to deal with it. Make no mistake here: dont blame WG. knock the door of your EU-parliament representative to do something for his money. And just a little edit for educational purposes: "everything in the world" hardly shifts between summer- and winter time, as you can see from the map. We are just unlucky to be caught in this. -

He forgot to mention, we even had an Isokaze in our division. Have to make sure to cover all possibilities. Why do I feel the sudden urge to take a shower? -

I get that and nothing really wrong with that in most cases. But what strikes me is the most blatent missplays, that dont even require any special knowledge about the game itself, but rather falls into the caegory of common sense I guess? Like when your team is at 950 points and the enemy at 900 with 30 sec to go, yet your 2k Minotaur decides, its the right time to go guns blazin in the open against the full HP yamato 15 km away. Things like that, the concept of time/points/objectives. Damn you two, both going for Hosho and then even complaining. I atleast have some decency, when doing that campaign. Thats why I use Orion -

How do you think, I feel in my DD, when I not even have to pay attention to enemy planes spotting me, enemy DDs spotting me and red ships shooting me + red torps from the front BUT also your torps from behind? And you really expect me to dodge them? you dont even care that for you "fun long range torps" I have to run towards the enemy, leave my smoke, go broadside to the enemys & lose massive health or even die? There are very rare occasions, where this is true. 99,95% of the times its the fault of the guy who is torping tho, as in the case of OP.

It is indeed bad design. Its bad for new players, its bad for veterans, its bad for everyone in such a game. It is also related to why I f.e. have thrown the towel completly on playing solo. After having to witness so many times, how people throw games, when I played solo and left them with a 100% winning position, I just couldnt take it anymore. I could tell so many stories, that made me lose faith in humans actually beeing an intelligent species. The thing is this: WG could easily implement mechanics to stop such things from happening. It doesnt even need to have something to do with the matchmaker directly. Like dont allow people to buy a premium ship if they havent unlock the same tier with a silver ship. That would already be HUGE. So many times you see total abysmal level of playing, you see the stats it goes like: 5 games on TI, 12 games on TII, 37 games on TIII AAAAND now im a Tirpitz main: 1120 games with single digit main battery hitrate and a WR that starts with 3. or even worse. Making the economy harder. But we went the other way over the years. As @159Hunter correctly stated that wouldnt fix all the problems, ofc it wont. We still have those people with 25k games that play worse then some guys with 50. But the quality of games on average would still rise and it might be enough to turn the corner. Also, for quite some weeks, the idea has spawn in my head, that WG has made huge mistakes by implementing T10 and to a degree even T9 premiums/reward ships. I was about to start a topic about it but since nothing is gonna change and we are in too deep at this point anyway I didnt bother. Besides the point, that inexperianced players have easy access to ships, that have the burden of having the most influence in a T10 battle, I got to think about something else: I look at my port and im stuck on T8/T9 with all my silver line BBs. Have been for years now, on some lines. I look at my port and I have Bourgogne and Thunderer on T10, Missouri and Jean Bart on T9. I forced myself to play Lion for many games to grind Conqueror. Everytime I cursed like a madman and was angry at myself. Why didnt I take Missouri? or Jean Bart? Would have been much better of with one of them. On many occasions, I lost the game because I was in Lion and not one of the premiums. Then I also thought: why grind Conqueror? Its not like im gonna play it. Its useless in clanbattles and you have Bourgogne and Thunderer which you would prefer for Randoms and Ranked anyway. So I stopped grinding. Thats only mildly related to the matchmaker but its another good argument why creating such ship on T10 / T9 is bad for the game overall. It should have stayed like back in the days, when T8 was the highest "shortcut" Tier. You still had a reason to grind. And unexperianced players in Tirpitzes, sure, but thats not as bad as the hordes of Jean Barts and Thunderers we have these days. But since WG is all about the money, we are lik dogs barking at the moon here, expecting something to change. sigh. -
Thats why the best CV players on our server have Karma of several thousand points, aya, gotcha. But ofc you been reported is directly related to the way you perform in game, which is also related to why you think WR is useless. Thus we all know which what number your WR starts. I wonder if you are aware of that. Prolly not, because that is also directly related to the points above.

A Message to the BB Captains.
ForlornSailor replied to Migantium_Mashum's topic in General Discussion
I should have been more specific. I was thinking about people, that start a rant, that goes something like "for me as a BB main its crazy how OP Cruisers, DDs and CVs are. HE spam, invisible torps and unconterable airstrikes" - something like that :) You guys are ofc right to point out, that there is nothing wrong in using this description to point out, that you are most experianced in one of the classes. Thats out T10 playerbase in a nutshell, yup. I never liked T10 for exactly that reason. Playing in a division helps a lot. dude, its not rocket science... -

ForlornSailor replied to Migantium_Mashum's topic in General Discussion
Exactly. Everyone should play everything (except CVs ) to understand, when what is needed, how to support a specific class, what a class cant do and what not and so on. Im honestly usualy shaking my head, everytime I read someone in the forums saying something like "for me as a XX-main". On the other hand: many times, a BB wants help against a DD, he is so out of position, that it would be plain stupid to go back and help him. I see such stuff happen on the map borders, dar away from the objectives, which also means, the enemy DD it out of position aswell. I will not hand over map control and objectives, cease spotting and travel 2 mins back and 2 mins forth to some useless position to try and help a BB (who is dead by then anyway). When you talk about "speed fun runs" you do realise, that some cruisers are faster then DDs and some BBs travel at around the speed of some DDs, right? Georgia or Bourgogne vs british DDs, Bismarck & Gneisenau vs some of the mid tier IJN DDs, just to give a few examples. -

"prefer" is too much to say. Im not defending the current system per se, its just I dont see an improvement since it will change nothing about the core problem: the questionable skill and will to learn the basics of the playerbase. This morning I saw some super questionable gameplay of an loyang player. The game wasnt even 15 sec old and I could spot his mistakes. Checked his stats after wards and it confirmed. I thought, ill try to approach him and wrote him a port message. I was prepare for the discussion to go any way. But it turned out, that player had problems understanding the game and what was going on. I actually calmed down a bit and threw him so links to education videos (the basic WG series). He had never heard of them and was super happy that I did started to talk to him. I explained a few basic things, that ive seen him doing wrong in the game, which seemed to have an "aah I see" effect on him. Thats the end of about an hour back and forth, questions answered, links send. Im actually happy, I did made the decision to write him and did so in a rather friendly way, not telling him how he s**** etc. Most people dont play bad because they chose so or like it, its because they dont know better. WG does a really bad job at explaining how to actually play the game... -

I ask this every time a 40% Kartoffel is throwing the win away. Usually I get insulted in return and told to leave him alone, since he has more fun then I do. And you gave the perfect reason, why all of us having a predermined 50% WR is boring and would eventually lead to the death of the game. Overall, I dont understand why some people want to mess with the random game mode. You have Clanbattles after all if you look for skill based match ups. And Ive asked this question about 20 times in this topic and yet to receive an answer - I wonder why? Why do you think its good to punish good player for them beeing good? Every skill based mm system, no matter how many have been preseted, punish good players and and rewards bad players. In your system, bad players get the same rewards as the good players, possibly even better. In a game, where everything turns around XP and credits - how would that be acceptable? Or you want to lower XP constantly so that the bad players in group 1 are hardly above Coop XP, effectivly locking them out of any XP-based missions. Alternative, you need to give players in super unicum group base XP up to 5000~6000 on a win. -
Well, and your post here is naming and shaming, even worse, since you dont even provide any evidence for your claim. And no, dont post any screens, that will make it worse. @Excavatus or @Allied_Winter please, thank you.

Its a pretty complex topic. A lot of depends on your armor and the ship shooting at you. Angling aka tanking the shots its also not the way to go for all cruisers, it also depends, which one you are asking about? In general, thats what you want to look at first (taken from the link @wot_2016_gunner posted)

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
ForlornSailor replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
T7s carrying a T9 game - normal these days. Whats more interesting is how it actually went down. About 5 mins in the game I was so sure, that its a loss. We were at the C cap against a bunch of T9s, Mogador kept me away from the cap because with his speed, gun and health advantage there was no way for me to push him off. Meanwhile, the rest of the team (incl. the T9s) that spawnd center / our side ran ofc to A and died there. But all of a sudden, everything fell apart for the enemys. The 2 BBs on our C-cap just rushed in, died to combined fire of my divi & my torps. After they were gone, I could push into the Mogador, make him run because he had no backup and take the cap. On the other side of the map, 6 enemys were afraid of our sole survivor - the Jean Bart - and went into the corner behind the A cap. So my divi marched to B, where we supported the Östergötland, took down the 2 DDs there that must have been also thinking "what on earth happened to our backup???" and then we steamed to A to pick up the last 5 ships there 1 by 1. Very nice play from our Jean Bart aswell, who didnt panic after our team fell apart, just bow tanked 6 ships and reversed. Just another example how bad people these days are - the enemys just did not want to win I guess... -

Yea, you ran into a 3 division of Bourgogne, Worcester & Grozovoi with super unicum stats. Its them 3 alone that make the difference. What you want the matchmaker to do about it? Do you complain when they are on your side, carrying you to victory? Should the matchmaker skill-match them with another 3x super unicum division? How long do you want someone like the Grozovoi with 75% WR to wait for a match? 4 days untill the other guy with 75% WR in a DD comes online? Afterall, you would need to match class vs class right? And tier vs. tier also or not? Is a 75% WR guy in a Benson the same as a 75% WR in a Grozovoi? Or can he be matched with a 60% Grozovoi? or 65 % Grozovoi? Should super unicum players be punished for having such a high winrate in the sense, that they would have to be "balanced" by always facing the exact same number of sunper unicums on the other team? Or should they be "balanced" by having the worst 9 to 11 players of the 24 available for the game on their side, so they have to play an uphill truggle each and every single game they play? If you think so, explain why you want people to be punished for beeing good? Questions over questions. One more: why dont you just thrive to be a 75% WR player yourself? You obviously complain, that matchmaking is holding you back, so you cant win as many games as you deserve? How come others do manage? How did the Grozovoi win 3 out of 4 games? Ah well it turned into more then 1 question, looking forward to your answers. -
