What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
ForlornSailor replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
I had the other side of the stick today... nothing to do because enemys refuse to play the game (kiev game was close, but cyclone effed me...) So... totally deserved winrate today huh? -
Nothing wrong in going into the cap right away - if you know how to do it. Also nothing wrong with engaging the enemy DD yourself. I can make the difference between the DD sunk or escaping with low health and at some point later dev striking one of your BBs... or 2. But again: you need to be very sure, that the exchange in health is worth it. It can also be very well worth the trade of both entire DDs. example? Your team has 2 DDs left, you are an Asashio, enemys have one 1 DD left and all BBs are dead. Nothing better then trading your Asashio at this point against the enemy DD.

Help with my stats. Want to improve.
ForlornSailor replied to Harvin87's topic in General Discussion
Yes, definatly. But: its not the first statistic to pay attention to when starting the path of "gidgud" :D Work on the other key statistics, those are easier to focus on. And when that works out and you do it correctly, the Winrate will follow automatically. The WR is rather, for now especially, a meassurement if you are on the right track with improving. Here is, im, what you should focus on: - Kills / deaths ratio: you overall account is 0,91, but the last week(s) show 1,44 / 1,3. Thats already an improvement and a noticable on. Above 1,0 is ofc the minimum goal. Once you reach constant numbers above 2,0 its very good. - Survivability: Also improving lately. 33,62% overall is a too low, above 40% is in the average range (depends on class ofc, DDs usually have a lower life expectancy). Amining for >50% would be a goal but be careful: playing too passive will raise your survivability but will hurt your WR and performance overall. - Damage and PR: the PR is a decent enough messurement how you do in comparision to other players on the server. The page gives you already enough info with the color & rating. Its also improving lately, you are on the right track. Ofc there is still room for improvement. As PR goes hand in hand with damage, its best to work on that. Now how to work on damage? Two things are a main factor if you ask me: Position and Hit ratio. You seem to have some problems in winning with Battleships lately and overall. And your hitratio is low to slightly low across the board - with one exeption - Sinop! There you have 32,33% Main battery hit ratio, which is really good. And you have a 66,67% WR right away + decent damage. Now, what you have done different there, is something, only you can answer yourself. Maybe thunk back to those games and identify, what you did better, then try to copy it. Then position. In general: if you are usualy one of the first to die as a BB, you are playing too aggressive. If you have the feeling, that your team dies and then you are left alone againt a pack of enemys and cant do anything: you play too defensive. Positioning is also tricky in a BB, it might just be the hardest skill to learn and at the same time the most important. You want to be a threat to the enemys, stopping them from pushing, while not over exposing yourself to too many enemys. That also means, you have to pay attention to what the other BBs on your team do. Are they all doing a lemming train to the A-cap? Well, then you need to the C-cap, eventhough you might not like it. Crossfire is the most important thing for battleships. And for that, they need to spread out. This way, you will also get broadsides, which gives you massive damage, better hitrate, more PR and better WR. -
I had 4/4/2 in the 3 games but atleast the games are now 12vs12 again, unlike earlier this year, where 5v5 was the norm with 3 CVs per side. That was just a farce. To add something to the topic and not be completly off-topic: pick some of the videos here, and rather spend half of the evening watching some of them instead of throwing yourself into 20 games each evening. Thats really what most of us did aswell: watch good players on youtube and twitch, learn, understand, copy & paste = profit. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=world+of+warships+basic+tactics+

Honestly: why? if they chose it that way and the people living there want it this way - its their choice. non of your/our business. And its not like those things mentioned are practised/accepted acros europe since 200 BC so lets not preach with a moral high ground shall we...

Honestly, it has gotten better recently. hard-core-24/7 hosho sealclubbers must have become tired. Checked it out this week and was actually ok.

In your case its pretty easy to spot: you rushed through the tiers WAY too quick. You need to go back to T3/T4 and get used to the pace of the game, learn to aim, learn to be in the corret positions, not too far ahead, not too far behind. 100~200 games on low tiers is needed, check your performance on the stat-pages, if you have brought yourself into decent stats on those tiers, you can move up 1 or 2 tiers max, rinse & repeat.

As a cruiser/battleship player, how much help do you expect/need from a DD?
ForlornSailor replied to quickr's topic in General Discussion
German DDs are really good right now. That beeing sad, they thrive in division play. Solo... they might struggle, when your team doesnt want to support you or shoot the crucial targets you spot. I suggest to try out the russian gunboat DDs first. French are a little bit harder to play imo. Russian DD line gets really good at T8. As Garrus said: you dont care about much. AFT is a must, you get the hang of the gunarcs pretty quick, they are excellent either way. Its nice when you have a game, where the enemy BBs try to hit you first and you manage to dodge their first 2, 3 salvos. Ive had games where those BBs, after completly missing, started to ignore me and just let it happen :D But dont get too close to the italian cruisers, their SAP can ruin your day. -
Next patch removes option to buy 250K freexp for 12.5k RP
ForlornSailor replied to Measuperbia's topic in General Discussion
How does this help you getting ships faster? @Salentine did the math above, why this option is absolutly useless and thus hardly anyone used it. If you want to argue, that people dont free XP to get RPs, thus actually play, and then convert the RPs into free XP to unlock more ships - this doesnt make sense either. If one aims to get free XP to shortcut their part to the free XP ships, you go and play 2 days of Narai with a dedicated group. Just thnk about how many lines you would have to reset and play WITHOUT using any free XP to exchange RPs for, lets say, Hayate. Does not make sense at all. -
As a cruiser/battleship player, how much help do you expect/need from a DD?
ForlornSailor replied to quickr's topic in General Discussion
I would not make a conclusion like that. I play a lot of DD myself and if you have one of ((those)) teams, you can keep the enemys lit at all times and nothing happens. Ive seen games where 2 or even 3 of my BBs just did not shoot at all, just kept running away. So ofc your spotting damage stays low. Doesnt necessarily mean you didnt do your job as a DD. And I think its save to assume, that a player like @quickr knows how to play a DD. -

Honestly, there is nothing more to discuss here in the forums at this point. Contact support or one of the community managers, the mod was so kind to give you all details you needed to proceed and explained, why this discussion also is in violation of forums rules... PS: our moderators arent from Russia... and such remarks start to be xenophobic, which is kinda interesting, since you complain about homophobic harressment yourself. Think about it... -
Yup, perfect example of what has been mentioned several times in this topic but ofc has been totally ignored by the "just dodge u see em coming u nubb" faction. Because they dont understand two things about the game, as harsh as this sounds, at this point, it has to be said. Funny, that it sounded like, he only wanted the penalty removed for HIM, while the DD shall still take teamdamage. kek. And if someone tries to come and counter me laughing about that "suggestion" with "well we can also remove teamdamage if the torp was running for more then 20 sec" - doesnt change a thing for the front line DD beeing in the path. That would mean, I either a) have to pay attention from where the torps came and how long they have been running - totally unrealsitic b) still dodge everything because I dont know who torped and have to assume i WILL take damage - so nothing changed, only more careless people would be encourage to throw torps into friendly because "I aint gettin no penatly and if, it the DDs fault". Bad bad bad suggestion from every angle.

Damage control party modification 1
ForlornSailor replied to Camperdown's topic in General Discussion
Thats pretty much the only really somewhat usefull combination, I agree. If you meet a good player or a divi of good players, they will actually pay attention when people use their DCP. Then they had the cooldown time, save the shot and then go for a perma fire. So by adding those 8 sec, you might fool them into shooting you while your DCP is still active. But yea, overall, the effectivness is still quesionable, you still might get a perma fire soon after and since the cooldown is still the same, it will burn for the same duration and you won nothing. Its situational. It would make more sense if the module reduces the cooldown time of the DCP consumable if you ask me, then it would be interesting. -

Nah, because over time, people got offended by everything. The root of the problem is this: you can offended someone unless you actually intend to do so. Which perfectly describes what happened to OP. He did not intend to, yet he has to suffer because other did and then a 3rd group came steamrolling and demanded the public opinion to react in a certain way to certain words. And the list of words got bigger... and bigger... and bigger. And then I see this and think: or you know what dude? we could just say "I dont really give a F about this all, I mind my business and stop trying to look for meanings in words which arent even there and which have no impact on my life whats-o-ever. Unless someone really targets other people with clear hate-speech. THAT would actually be an open-minded, tolerant society. Right now, we are very far from it and getting further with each day passing. And thus we have situations like this one here. Just think about it for a moment. -

IMO this has nothing to do with russian law and on the contrary, very much everything to do with western culture. Look back a few years/decades and check, where the word is coming from and how it got used. Then you know, why its seen in a bad light and to be on the save side, put on ban lists by f.e. gaming companies. This is not due to the expression of, in this case WG, saying "we dont like them" or "we are gladly following laws", but instead "we dont want people offended, because that causes sh!tstorms!". So, everyone, read this, because this sums up perfectly what we are seeing here: And if anything, its on us as a communites to work on that. Stop beeing offended by a fly farting in your direction, stop complaining about everything on twitter and feel like a god, once you got a sh!tstorm rolling, that forces a company to change their behavoir etc pp. Just talking in general here, not targeting anyone specific, although I see a few people here, that like to jump the bandwaggon. Stop that too. Because the cancel train + the bandwaggon might roll over you at one point. -

Yea but then you support my side aswell, only difference is, you want to make the summer time the standard time, but in any case discontinue the habit of turning the clock back and forth twice a year. (I actually dont care that much, which time we keep, although the "winter" time is the "normal" time) -

ForlornSailor replied to thiextar's topic in General Discussion
I live in Finland my northern brother + I used to live in central europe for a long duration. I can tell you, its actually round the other way: Our summer is bright anway, we dont need the extra hour in the "evening" - rather in the night. But our winters are dark anyway and then, while the days get shorter, you have to cope with days getting shorter all of a sudden by an hour, because you go back to normal time. That difference is not that extreme in central europe. However, its much darker there in the winter, unless you live in an high attitute / real winter area, where you actually have snow like we do. I wouldnt trade my finish winter for a what central europeans call winter anymore. And then you have the absolute south of europe, like Greece and Portugal, where people seem to dont care that much if DST is in place or not. And when you take the observations, which I just described, and imagine them in an area, where the difference in daylenght between winter and summer is even shorter, it makes sense. Between winter and summer the difference in day lenght is about 4 hours (had to google that) so for them, it doesnt matter that much if the sun goes down at 5 or 6, since even in summer its not that much longer bright anyway. -

fify. well, that wasnt hard tho not WGs fault actually. blame our cancel culture & snowflakeism. People cried about the word in question as beeing used as an insult, so it went on the ban list. Globally, not only here, just to be precise. So, since you cant know in what context the word is beeing used, everyone gets punished. -
Yes it does occupy them! Playing a front-line DD effectivly is nothing short of stressing at times. How come, you dont do well in DDs, when you think that this is an easy task? care to elaborate? Sure. Here is my suggestion: leave it as it is, because its perfect. No actually: punish them harder. Id love to see a short-term repeat offender beeing banned completly for 14 days from the game, so he has some real time to think about what he is doing.

CB Season 11 : Feedback & Discussions topic.
ForlornSailor replied to thiextar's topic in General Discussion
But we already have to deal and work around different time zones as it stands? For our english guys, normal cb starting time used to be too early almost always, while I had to drag it out till midnight, eventhough I have work in the morning. It never was perfect to begin with. But here is my idea: I guess we could ask WG to add 1 hour on both ends of the clanwar timeframe and then leave the prime time untouched, when ever DST enriches our lives. This way, everyone benefits and nobody should have a reason to complain. Because lets face it: every other solution WILL cause someone to cry and stomp their feet, we know how people are. Question is, is WG willing to extend the clanwar time frame by 2 hours. @Eskaman im not ready to discuss? - says the person who has contributed nothing to the dsicussion and only reacts with emojis, comedy gold. The problem is you not understanding the point actually. Sad. But dont bother reacting or replying anymore, you know on what list you went right? -
CB Season 11 : Feedback & Discussions topic.
ForlornSailor replied to thiextar's topic in General Discussion
Exactly, thats why we shouldnt discuss and/or work around the outcomes of this stupidity here either ;) Well, while thats true, we would still lose 1 hour of the time window, where both servers can interact with each other. If that is a big deal or not lies in the judgement of WG I guess. But I very much suspect, that this is the reason why they have changed their policy about the prime time. As some pointed out: we did not have it in the past. It came the same time, the cross server clanbattles were introduced. I remember that, since I was super confused myself the first time I noticed that some season ago. Its the only logical explanation: it must somehow be connected. @Eskaman you have something to say or can you only use stupid "boring" reactions whenever someone posts facts and other are engaging in a discussion? Annoying, learn to communicate properly please or stay out. -
CB Season 11 : Feedback & Discussions topic.
ForlornSailor replied to thiextar's topic in General Discussion
We dont need to. The decision to abandon it was already made long ago. But they cant get it done. They dont get anything done. They didnt change the prime time. For russian players, nothing has changed. Ever since we have the ability to play cross-servers, the DST affects either us or them, because the time different between russia and EU changes. So WG has to make a choice: change the time for russian players - for absolutly no reason, because their time didnt change - or adjust it for us. Which is the right thing to do, since we are the ones messing with our clock. So this is very much a thing of politics and not WG. You need to get to the core of the problem, understand all sides of it and then knock the correct door. btw: accoring to defenders of DST, you know go to bad earlier and get up earlier. So you have time to play earlier aswell. This is literally the argument, why we have to deal with this stupid messing of our clocks twice a year. So the DST-fans should dismiss your claim about work etc. -
CB Season 11 : Feedback & Discussions topic.
ForlornSailor replied to thiextar's topic in General Discussion
Please dont. This is a problem of a much larger scale, which needs to be solved by abandoning daylight saving time in the EU. We never would have this discussion here if that would happen. which was actually promised years ago and is the will of about 80% of the population in the EU.
