Fiji all the way
-
They had Giulio Cesare, two in a division. Did you look at the replay @Grandorf posted? Those 4 ships actually DID win the game for the team. The GCs tanked 6 enemys and kept them buys, the 2 Belfast killed the other side COMPLETLY without own casualties and opened the way for the DDs to cap. Thats why Grandorf then died also, rushing to defend the base. btw @Grandorf I saw it was one of your first games in Fiji. If you want some advice, ill send a few replays your way or can tell you a few things on how to play. edit: ok. confirmed. you better watch the replay before talking. seriously.

Yep. I know what im saying. Exactly this. I dont take WGs word serious anymore. I know that snowballing theory and while it might look and sound logical first, it is flawed also. I will elaborate. We are not playing tick-tack here, not even chess. Every ship has different possibilities, different abilities, different weapons choices, even every salvo can have very different effects. Its infact very much possible to turn a 10 vs 6 around. It doesnt take more then a salvo of torps from a cruiser with 100 HP to wipe out a full HP BB. Plenty of situations come to mind, where I was outnumbered and managed to take down more enemys or turn the game around. Looking from another perspective - its pure logic, that the better team, that will in the end take the win, also starts by killing the enemys faster. You can tell me "no" when you show me the sourcecode of the server. Until then I´d like to keep my tinfoilhat on. Fact is: we both cant know for sure. And with 40% and 60% I really ment those ranges. Lets say 40-44% and 58-62%. I didnt mean 70%, maybe "skyrocketing" was the wrong word to pick, I meant more like "going past 60%". If you actually look up people, that play like trainaccident-victims (identified by missplay in your team, that makes you scream or by observing them on twitch), they ofter are around 40%. I dont know how. It fascinates and stunns me at the same time, ive actually spend some time sort of "researching" a few of those guys by following them over the last weeks. I see ppl playing T8+ BBs with an avg damage of 8k...12k...14k... something like that, but they still win a lot. You example over 10 matches gives you a nice perspective actually. Im pretty much there where I win 6 out of 10, recently slighty more due to division and picking ships with more influence. But those ppl, that contribute 10~20% of my damage still win 4 out of 10. Imo - thats not a big enough difference. If you are interested in the links to those guys im talking about, ill happily PM stats+everything else to you. I feel like it would go against "shaming and naming" although they make themself public anyway by playing on twitch. But I warn you - it starts to make you depressive, when you see that ppl like that still get such a "high" WR (I feel they deserve to be in the single-digit-department or max 20%) and you might notice tinfoil growing on top of your head.

Again - after watching the replay - we see, how utterly stupid it is to make assumptions based on the scoreboard. Your "professional assessment" couldnt be more wrong. *dang*

I was thinking if I´d say something to this & the other posts in this thread. Ill just gonna do, cuz I think, there is something, that many people forget here. First, ofc, you are right about the conclusion eliastion. This form of mm would balance the teams out and ultimatly draw everyone closer to 50%. But what is more important - the Winrate or the game experiance? Id rather have 50,00% but every game is thrilling and ends with 998:997 or 997:998 tbh. Also, the good players would still sick out - by damage done, kills, XP. But I know that this sort of MM has its drawbacks also (f.e. how in the longrun the mm should decide who is good and who is bad). Im rather neutral on that position anyway, just trying to give a new perspective. btw - im pretty sure, something like this is already implemented in the game. There are way too many ppl with 40% WR around and way too many ppl with 60% WR. Im convinced by now, that MM makes sure, those ppl dont drop below 40% (cant piss off customers too much, gotta draw them to buy more) and it makes sure, ppl dont skyrocket above 60% WR (again, gotta piss of the good players, so theyll take money in the hand to push themself higher).

...where no teamplay exists and the last bits of possibilty to teamplay get patched/nerfed/buffed (depends on POV) away from WG. round of applause.
-
Seriously? If the team, that has lost, would have made more points, they wouldnt have lost - dont u think? Why dont u look at my screen, that I posted. Even the lowest score on winning team is 1/3 above best in the losing team.
-
You missed the smily to mark it as obvious sarcasm.
-
But they are still in game. as you see on the screen. Also, Giulio Cesare is worse. Seriously ppl. 7 vs 0 Premium and of those 7 are 4 which many concider to be among the most OP of the game. Not saying, they werent the better players. Not saying, they didnt deserve the win. Nobody can tell from this screen anyway. But facts are facts.
-
I have to question your knowledge about XP in this game. Id rather say, the losing team did ok, looking at the XP... Did you ever pay attention to the distributuion or did you make something up just to make OP look stupid? Literally the first screen i looked at:

This is getting [edited] old WG
ForlornSailor replied to ClappingLollies's topic in General Discussion
Right now its pretty much exactly 1e (also been mentioned earlier). When its not on sale - even more. Its an even bigger cashgrab right now. Why arent there 333 in the pack like the others? think about it... In reality people ARE buying this sh!t for those flags. I started to get a habit of watching twitch - the bottom streams there. There is everything you think is impossible. People play 10e for a Izumo B hull, just to sell it next week. People putting dubloon camouflages on premium BBs "cuz they like the colors better". What else... oh yea, selling a premium BB for credits so he can advance in the silver line (can always buy back the premium, its only 50e). Paying dubloons to unlock the BBs cuz they cant afford the repair after each round, cuz avg damage is ~8k - on T8/T9 that is. This is happening. Im not making this up. So what the sane ppl could never imagine cuz its so stupid, is actually happening in reality. -

You might want to rethink your conclusion . Infact, you CAN buy them... https://eu.wargaming.net/shop/wows/customizations/#openOverlay=true&itemId=6544 It has also been mentioned in this very thread... -
Agree. Orion made Nikolai pretty much obsolte. Also, the König Albert is only a shadow of what it was before Orion came in. I love the fact, that some ppl think, the world evolves around them. and only them.
-
Its what ive been telling him from my first post. If you either have no experiance OR are not able to see the whole picture, your view on things will be flawed. Thats why he preferes Fighters cuz his view is "they do good things for me - bombers do baaaaaad things to me".
-
I posted the result of this earlier: (the screen) edit: actually not 100% true - many of those hits where brodside / near broadside too.

CB: Gale.3 vs Typhoon.1, seriously ? What is the point of leagues then anyway ???
ForlornSailor replied to AlwaysBadLuckWithTeams's topic in General Discussion
Thats how ELO works. Back in the day, in another game, which I played on ESL, the leagues also used ELO system. Ofc, playing opponents wasnt random, but youßd chose against who you play. A high-ranked team would hardly ever chose to play against a low ranked-team. It just wasnt worth the points. Also, loosing that game would chunk your points a lot. You´d lose something like ~110 points in your case I guess... Just another reason to ignore this Gamemode. -
WG fix [edited]BB AP against DDs already
ForlornSailor replied to ClappingLollies's topic in General Discussion
Maybe its just time to scale the Damage of BBs to other targets, especially on DDs. If you´d reduce the shell damage (atleast of AP) from BBs done to DDs to, idk, somwhere in the range of 50-75%, you´d takle both problems at the same time. But yeah, the RN BBs will still be DD killer no1 this way, but the ability to oneshot them should be gone. Not sure why you ppl are fighting if the topic is about Overpens, Double-Pens, only Pens, missing Ribbons or w/e - its all part of the same issue. -
Oh I agree. Still obviously many ppl cant handle CVs. btw - im not even convinced myself, that those Flying Potatoes forced to a different setup now are going to be any more helpful. Time will tell I guess...
-
For the avarage [insert insult here] it was crap and it was ruining matches constantly for the 11 unlucky beeing paired with that guy. Just becuase a good player can make it work, doesnt mean, that its a viable tactic in general.
-
So you are asking me. A Bomber. Only players, that cant see the whole picture, how the CV is most effectiv, will say Fighter. And thats exactly how a CV should play. You did a mistake by beeing isolated. First - its not the job of your CV to babysit an isolated ship. Should he then give up the rest of the fleet in return? That makes sense. Second - the CV will always look for the easiest / most profitable target. That were you obviously. Again, the problem is with you. Ive said it many times - players dont adjust their style when there is a CV in the game. They play the same way as if there is no CV in the game. Biggest mistake. Mistakes must be punished. Quote me where I said that or stop spreading lies.
-
That why I said IF . The IF would mean, the AS US CV plays perfect while his opponent is avarage at best. Then I think its possible. But still - the AS setup wins nothing. I agree, AS was flawed from the start. It would be like... removing the guns from a BB, but in return you´ll get twice the health. See, this is exactly this one-dimensional thinking I was talking about earlier. Think about, what did the CV do before with his setup? How many ships did he damage and thus help sinking or sunk directly? Those would still be around, if he were an AS. And then? The round most likely would have been over earlier. You cant only look at this ONE specific moment and think "D´oh, if he would have a fighter here RIGHT NOW...". You have to see the whole picture. Its exactly this: Its true. When I see a CV trying all of this, and he gets outplayed cuz of the opponents CV-Players skill - I wont blame him. But if I see, that there is a CV player deliberately ignoring 1 or 2 of his duties, ill let him have it in chat. Its this "omg, we might already have lost this one" when you are in loading screen, and you see, you have a US CV, while the enemys have an IJN. Then you watch the planes take off in fear...
-
I beg to differ. Fighters are a tool for reacting. It really comes down to the fact, that you are countering what the other CV is doing. IF (and its a big if for a reason) you manage to play perfectly and counter every move of the enemy CV, thus denying him dmg, all you reached, is a patt. You took out one enemy ship while beeing useless yourself. A Fighter doenst deal damage, it doesnt contribute to the objevtices - it doesnt cap, it doesnt reset the capcounter. Thus a fighter is a mere tool. The real impact in winning the game is done with the other 2 plane-classes.
-
You know, this is a very one-dimensional view on things. People, that dont think about CVs gameplay or have never even seen from the eyes of a CV, dont know what belongs to the job of a CV. For those DD/CL/BB, they get pissed when there is no Fighter spotting for them or protecting them from enemy planes. Its funny, cuz at the same time, they complain about enemy TBs, they dont understand the benefit of the friendly TBs doing damage to the enemy team. And I feel you are lacking to see the potential it can have. Its ok, im trying to give you constructive feedback. The others are too, even if they sound harsh. So actually the recent changes to the US CVs is a good change. If you learn to adapt, it will make you a better CV player.
-
An overpenning Torpedo would be superfunny. It just goes through the ship and continues behind you :D
-
Do you really think, you did contribute to your team? Im amazed you have 43% WR with the Independence, looking at your damage done...
