    Idea: Captain skills

Lol ok, off-topic, but I had to laugh when reading that part AND something came to my mind: What if there would be a math-captcha, before the battle-button appears? Like 12+8 or smth. Maybe we can get rid of those BBabys this way. That would be a good thing actually. Should be implemented either way. Or maybe it should list ships in the description, that benefit from a certain skill. Little steps in the right direction. I´d say, there will be players, that [edited]up in the current system, and there will be ppl that [edited]up in the tree system. Some from first group would do somewhat ok in the other system and vice versa. Nothing laughable about that. Actually there are ppl, that dont skill their captain at all. Or they run IFA and PT on T8+ BBs and god knows what else from the 1-point-level cuz I can see they dont have SI, CE or AR. Source: bad twitch streams. So there are examples for ppl that cant handle the current system. Not saying they could handle a skill tree, but they cant [edited]up harder. Thats pretty much down to how you design the tree. If you allow horizontal switches, how many different trees there are and so. But w/e I personally am fine with both systems. Actual one is just boring and not challenging. I can see advantages in giving more levels to each skill and thus way more captain points. Has nothing to do with skilltree btw. So one could have faster CE, FP, something for AA but with lower impact. This all-or-nothing, where nowadays anything but a 10-point-captain stinks gets boring.

Tier X Carrier gameplay, threats and insults

Yea right. Does your tinfoilhat still fit well? And players like @El2aZeR bribed WG so that they get all the good players in their team eh? Everyday im truly amazed how ignorant humanity can be.... Why dont you admit you are bad? Its a fact. In that sense - stats dont lie.

Tier X Carrier gameplay, threats and insults

And you think you have the right to talk about other ppls stats? You´re in the top 10 % of CV-Players - at the bottom! Admit u are bad, get advise or stop playing. And stop making threads where you try to belittle other players, that rightfully tell you, you are playing bad.

    DON'T trust the auto pilot

He needed a meatshield. Worked I guess. Imagine, his Yamato would have taken damage! Cant let that happen. Last week I was happily sitting in my smoke with Leander, when a QE smashed with full speed angled from behind in me. He kept going for about 2 minutes - I was in such an angle and he fullspeed, that I was glued to his bow. I begged, I demanded, I shot at him, I insulted him - nothing worked. "Those" players are stuck in zoom until they go down. Well, in that case, he found a meatshield to absorb the torps for him.... not like my hydro spotted them or something. Should make a video out of that tbfh. Im sure, everyone not involved will laugh until they cry...
  5. Why do you buy that stuff some random guy tells you? Ive heard this excuse oh-so-often "Oh its a mistake, ppl get banned using offical stuff - UNBAN ME". Ye right. What do you think he´ll say? "Hell yea, I used something illegal. I dont care. I wanna play. UNBAN ME".

What if fighters are removed from all CVs?

I fully agree. I had this idea, that maybe its working as intended. Maybe WG thinks "oh if those new CV-Players get their asses handed to them by a Saipan/Kaga, with a mechanic they dont know - they want that CV, cuz they think its that specific ship not skill / mechanic". Sounds dirty? I guess so. But I really cant see what other reason could be behind it. I dont buy the "we want to protect new players from sealclubbers". If that would be their priority agenda, we would have never seen König Albert in the game - f.e.

What if fighters are removed from all CVs?

Granted. Then again - who knows about this protected matchmaking? Anyway, the point, I was trying to bring across, was more about manual attacks. I feel its so wrong to hold back those mechanics. So a new CV Player (better? :P) cant get clubbed by an experianced CV player with strafe on T4 anymore. The experianced CV Player will still win, it doesnt really matter. What makes it worse - he will encounter this sooner or later, the latest at T7 when he is facing a Saipan. There that skill-factor multiplies, the more if u think about, that he is inexperianced in manual drops. He litteraly cant help his team as much as an experianced CV Player - even if he wanted and even if he throws the best autodrops in the world. But at T6+ its just much then on T4. AA is moch more forgiving on T4, leaving you room to learn and test manual drops.

    Idea: Captain skills

Build me a captain for Minotaur. http://shipcomrade.com/captcalc I mean, its cool, that Im not forced down a specific line. Gives newbs the chance to skill the Minotaur like this http://shipcomrade.com/captcalc/1010001000100000010000100110000019 Look above - come again? And dont you "I would never skill a captain for Minotaur like this". You know its stupid, I know its stupid. We dont need to talk about this. But now tell me, that there are 0 captains skilled as stupid as this out there. So, for someone, who doesnt know what he is doing, a tree is BY FAR the easier way to identify, what he will benefit from - and cant mix in useless skills. Also - when he later, at some point understands, what his ships really need (very common, by advancing in the game, you gain experiance) he will see, which captain skills are needed. Oops, already got that Torpedo Acceleration for your DD and no Last Stand? You are in trouble now. btw - I dont need skill tree myself. And if you dont like it, just say "I dont like it". But dont make up wall-of-text on an insulting level, ridiculing a completly valid idea with arguments, that in reality are none. The end of this topic is not "captain skills will change right away to what is agreed here". You dont need to argue about it, as if your life depends on it.... In the end, its never gonna look like this anyway. @KarmaQU_EU good post. I agree, a system like you present could work very well in wows aswell.

    British Cruisers are CRAP!

Well.. You have to realize, that we are basically not talking about ships and what they can do - but about their captains and what they can do with that ship. Last part is the bigger factor tbh. f.e. on my screen - take a guess, what I sank. And trust me, I didnt need smoke for that :) Nope, you need to go to the config-file. Dunno why that is... Check here how to do it : https://na.wargaming.net/support/kb/articles/517 Oh boy, I just can imagine what I could do with Fiji - or even worse: Neptune & Minotaur if they´d have HE. Absolute monsters. Altough, I would need more captainskillpoints, cuz IFHE+DE+CE+AA build doesnt work with 19 points

Most Fun and Least Fun Ship & Why

I dont mind at all. Ill add you aswell. Often I play 2-man-division so a third player is very welcome. And I/we dont play that much T10 either - mostly T7-T9 with the occasional game in T4-T6

    British Cruisers are CRAP!

Big words @Ferry_25 . Lets see if faith pairs us one day and you can try - I think you just lack the knowldege of what RN CLs can do - your Belfast stats support that theory... @Thin_Brown_Line did you look the video posted? And do you have replays enabled? Its easier to look at someone playing and tell him, where are the mistakes, then to say "look at youtube".

Graf Zeppelin on Ranked are broken

Yea. I agree. All the other CVs need to go aswell. Somehow they magically kill me with their stealth-fire - I cant even see this so called Shokaking or Lexingling while he kills me? Completly broken I say! Also, remove North Carolina, Bismarck, Amagi, Tirpitz cuz they all can one-shot my CL. Matter of fact, ban all DDs aswell. Their torps are to OP, I cant even sail straight in Ranked watching the pretty trees on the islands. Thats not fair, I mean come on. Not sure about the other cruisers yet... some of them seem pretty dangerous to me. They might need to be banned aswell. Ill report back with more data.

    Idea: Captain skills

Not really. But even if - what would be bad in that? Idealy, a system like this wouldnt give you enough points to max out everything usefull to your ship. So you´d have to make a choice, alowing a personal build, a personal style. Right now, I find the captainsskills pretty dumb. In 95% of the cases, the builds are the same and the order you have to take is the same. So, a ship starts to be usefull only with 10+ captain and be straight out better. And always the same, if skilled right. There is no room for personal style. So your example: lacks the whole picture. Its rather: - Is another 100hp/tier worth another 3 points? OR do I use the points for an extra TB? or something else. Many other games use this pattern btw. And there is nothing wrong with them. Diablo II would be a prime example. Its what made that game so awesome and allowed for tons of variety and different playstyles.

Oh Ive heard that one many times before. I always go like in front of my PC. You should division up with me. I eat DDs in smoke for breakfast - its my favourite snack.

Killed a ship with Belfast and torps?

I´d concider opening a support ticket or mark a few wows-staff in this thread here. Its clearly a bug. Who knows, maybe there is something badly wrong that needs fixing and has slipped developers eyes. I had a few times the feeling, that when I shot a very low HP ship, hit it, dmg pops up, but the kill went to someone else. Now, usualy, with all the shells in the air, its impossible to say, who really was supposed to get the kill. In this case, its very obvious, that something went wrong.

    Bag of basic questions

Huh. Tbh, Budyonny and Atago play very differently. You want to use your detectability range to the max with atago, as in beeing between 9 to 10 km to the enemy to torpedo them. Use the terrain for sneak attacks, then give them a fire on the way. Budyonny I dont play anything as close to the enemy as this. Long range, HE all over the place, if the match has setteled, get in there and take the rest with AP. As @SinkTheOthersNotMe mentioned, they are pretty different, altought they look alike on the first glance. Im a cruiser main aswell and im thinking myself of getting the Scharnhorst. Its just a better version of a cruiser afterall. btw - you could look at the Graf Spee aswell. Many ppl dont like it, but it can really deliver. It eats T8 cruisers like nothing and can punish BBs pretty hard aswell. On top of that - awesome torpedos, good secondaries and ok AA. What its not good at: HE spam. But neither is the Scharnhorst made for that.

Most Fun and Least Fun Ship & Why

Most Fun - Recently I have a blast in the Neptune. A glasscannon, but can shredd anything to pieces. Fiji is one of my favourites too. Not that good in dealing damage as Neptune, but better survivability. Svietlana was awesome for a long time. Since French cruisers, the RN BBs and ofc the PADDs are around, I dont dare to take her out tho. Least Fun - Shchors is a pain, got powercreeped by too many lines and premiums in his mm-zone. Oktjabrskaja Revoljuzija didnt click at all for me, same as Fuso - Ive played her before the Hull-change and before Detection-buffs. 13km range on stock with a detectionrange of 18km fighting T8s was so fun, I nearly puked. Ruined that ship for me.
  20. LoL. tbh, I didnt even read this far . Yea. What an awesome idea....
  21. Its gonna change nothing. Seriously, it wont. Simply, cuz the vast majority wont know about it or even IF they´d know, they wouldnt remember in battle. Hell, ppl still think, they´ll make more credits, if they dont sink - matter of fact: In a (noob-)stream I heard a guy saying "I need to play good now. Im low on credits. SO I CAN NOT TAKE ANY DAMAGE ON MY IZUMO". yep. thats whats really going on.

The new missions are really FUBARing the BB MM!!

You´d think so. Just cheered as I let the enemys damage me in the last minute of an already won game - to be baffled, why I didnt get Dreadnought (in Neptune that is). Just to find out - most of the enemys in fact missed me. A standstill Neptune. Only Minotaur and Edinburgh from enemys hit me, before that I dodged Kidd & Kurfürst shells - 59k damage (of that like 40k on purpose) for nothing *sigh*. I managed to get it once tho. 3 tries so far. Go to twitch, pick an unpopular wows stream. Watch "them" play T8+ BBs (usualy T10 tho). and see, how they most of the time get anything inbetween 0 to 18k dmg. Then do the math again, how long "they" need. "They" clog the queue.

The new missions are really FUBARing the BB MM!!

Exactly my experiance today. So I went to play ranked - just to find, that "they" have invaded there aswell. But its funny when "they" are on the other side. I had my chapa parked behind an island and raining HE on 3 Bismarcks/Tirpitz (why im not surprised about that?). Ofc all three did me the favour and DCPed first fire. Oh my oh my, in those situations im getting nervous. I want a Minotaur with HE plz... Also, why do I have the feeling, that today, we see a lot of BBabys tryin to be smart and play a DD?

What if fighters are removed from all CVs?

Everyone discussing here is a World of Warships Player and can voice his opinion - rightfully. They all interact with CVs aswell. I remember you personally saying pretty much : if you bring stats into the discussion, im done talking to you (you havent said this to me, btw). Naturally. But I often have the feeling, that this game has a weird skill-spread. It looks like the majority of the players qualify as "low-skilled" and the group of decent-players is smaller then you would expect. (Above those would be awesome-players, while below that potatoes, if i´d have to classify 4 groups...). I would expect low-skill and decent to be even, but I really dont think thats the case. Often you see people really doing nothing special, quite the opposite, doing huge missplays, and when you check their stats, they are often 50-52% guys with yellow numbers - indicating, they are whats avarage in this game, even slightly above. Ive had long and intersting discussions of this type in a prior game ive played. It had a smaller community but very active clas vs clan community. By all those matches played, you could actually group those clans into skill-levels. That was interesting because clans from the same skill-level would always play very close rounds - makes sense. Now, if fighting against a clan one class higher, they´d be roflstomped, whilst this clan again would be roflstomed themselfs if facing a clan only 1 class better themselfs. And you cant really learn anything from beeing roflstomped nor facing ppl of the same skill level all the time. On top of this, wows has a tendency to be ignorant about your own skill and your own mistakes - just blame the team or one specific player in it. We see this everyday. So yeah I totaly agree with what you are saying: and Im not surprised about: And can you really blame them? I always wonder, if someone starts playing wows and especially CV now. And he gets into T4...goes to T5... T6... even learns the gamemechanics that are accessable to him - and then meets a T7 whos wiping him out of the sky with strafes. He seems something, he has a) never encountered before and b) the game didnt even allow him to do himself. He can have litereally 100s of games in a CV and doesnt know about manual attacks and strafe. Its like the worst combination of what Ive said earlier: You cant learn if you dont face enemys doing it and you can learn only that, what you know. Its like the ancient greeks. Its not like they were going around saying "sure, we might need an abacus now, but hey, its only temporary - there will be computers one day!". No, for them it was hightech and they couldnt picture having something better - else they would have build it. Which brings me to: We really see the dilema wows is in in that case. If I might be so bold and take you as an example. You´ve played this game for a very long time. Thus you´ve been through a lot of changes, fixes, introducing of new game-mechanics. So you have a huge advantage of experiance and knowledge over someone, who starts the game now. Granted, experiance cant be gained over night, it needs to be earned. Knowedge however... for some reason, wows holds information back from its players. There are so many examples even besides CV gameplay. Take the smokechange. Sure, it was announced in the news. But that was one moment. It actually demands you to not only play the game activly without beeing away, but also follow everything around it. So, someone, that plays once in a while, or has been away for 6 months (nothing really unusal) + combined with the casual-random-style of wows, hasnt noticed this. And the game doesnt tell you. Take a RN CL, smoek up like you used to - boom. dead. how? Player doesnt know. Exactly the same happens when a new player now played CVs and then meets the first T7 strafing him. Long story short: I personaly dont think, fighters should be removed. But I can understand why people have ideas like that. Manual attack & strafe needs to return to T4. Ive went through this myself and find it quite interesting aswell. As if a CV couldnt cover the entire map or couldnt stay too long at one place spotting something. Or how about, if the CV choses to go beyond "the point of no return" he can, strike the target, but will lose the planes, cuz they cant return. This, however, could be challanging to implement in the game. It would put an information in the game, that a CV player needs to activly watch. And if you do a few circles around the map - it could be hard (impossible) to determine, if its still possible to strike and return. On low tier, missplaying on that behalf would be catastrophic.
