How is your Campaign "The Battle of the North Cape" doing (especially "Stage 5")?

Yeah, noticed it 2 days ago, when looking for missions to activate for ranked ;) -
Giulio Cesare AP Fuse changes explained
ForlornSailor replied to wilkatis_LV's topic in General Discussion
I can confirm this, as I own Texas, all ARP Kongou and the Cesare. Texas is sharing Captain with Missouri (Mr. Seagull), currently at 16 points (yea, I suck, I know. Didnt play that many US BBs). Kongous are just rotating Kongo as a captain and Cesare... is now at 5 points. Still, damage from Texas / Kongous is not even close to Cesare. -
Well. Beeing ignorant about something and present it as the final truth is just no ground for a discussion. I actually hear more complaints late in the round, with the sounds like "was last from the start, we had 1 DD less". And I cant even remeber one round, where someone complained in the end about radars. This only happens in the start. Something, which you claim to be the complete opposite. But now, go on, tell me, how I have no clue, twist the reality and you speak for "most of the people". hmmm. I wonder... This reminds me of someone... Who would that be? Oh yea @AnotherDuck . I would never dare to try to talk to ppl like that and at the same time present my completly subjectiv point of view as fact. Just get out of here, you dont know how to discuss. Problem solved.

Jack Dunkirk on Minotaur
ForlornSailor replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
Im completly with @Murro_the_One here. RN CLs are pretty much my main cruiser line, and what he says, makes perfect sense. Especially the part about Adrenaline Rush. Its true, in the usual match, you dont need it. Huge part of the playerbase will turn, when they see a smoke cloud firing angry & fast. You dont need it in those situations. But then there are the games, where you dont have 2 mins to dakka-dakka a poor BB, that has no clue on how to counter it, but only 30 or 40 sec. Then you can make a difference by shooting those few extra salvos. About vigilance: In the begining, I used to get torped quite often, nowadays, it hardly ever happens anymore. Thus scrap vigilance. (if you plan to reskill your captain at somepoint, its fine to use it, until you dont get torped anymore). Positioning and enemy awerness. I even specced my Edinburgh for AA. I had one round, where I was alone against a CV - I think, that guy must have thought, the game is rigged, cuz he couldnt touch me. Situational - yes. But when it comes down to it, its game deciding.- 34 replies

"Pull" versus "Push" based game design. Conclusion.
ForlornSailor replied to KarmaQU_EU's topic in General Discussion
Thats actually quite an interesting point, if you think about it. Matter of fact, I did play some (MMO-)RPGs in the past, which had the classic class-distribution. And I cant really say, that in those communitys ppl were discredited or belittled of their opinions, cuz they played only one class, or even worse, played everything but one class - which is happening in here all the time. Oh yea, I agree. Especially, when you read, what some suggest as solutions. But still I think, if one wants to criticize something, he should atleast provide some kind of idea, from his POV, on how to improve the situation. Actually, not much. Ive watched a stream a few days ago, where a group of 5 or 6 guys were together in TS. They did count in, to get in the same game (on the same side). It didnt happen, so they went back to port. I was shocked, they even had a CV in the group. Then they tried again, failed, and suggested, to go to port again. Only to be stopped by one guy, cuz he said, he had no more ships in that range. I took screenshots of that incident, didnt manage to start up the videocapture in time tho. -

I wanted to mark your correction "funny", but while hovering over it, pictures of what Ive witnessed this week came to my mind: A full HP Minotaur fighting a 80 HP Z-52. 2 sec reload, 10 guns, ~10km distance. You take the guess which one died. No, your correction isnt funny - its the sad reality. -
Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.

I can add to this too. My team goes "A/B" at the start, and everyone agrees, that this is an awesome plan. Ofc, in coward-speek "A/B" for each individual means really this: "Im gonna go A as wide as possible, someone else sure can take B. I was the first and loudest to yell A anyway!" So everything we tried to do to make them support B - didnt work. The Charles Martel actually won the game, cuz he did kite the ENTIRE enemy fleet up to J5 (yep, that would be near A again). Crying for help for about 10-12 minutes I think. But if you´d think, the 6 Cowards would be there then to await the enemy - hell no. They have infact moved on in the enemy spawn, where nobody was. Best part of it: 4 out of the 6 managed to die, while me, Missouri, Z-52 and Amagi took & defended B. how is that even possible. HOW? anyone give me an answer. On top of that: our CV did nothing else then try to snipe the CV (didnt work - I got the Lex in the end) and the one pinging the red CV on the map was the Loyang - who got gunned down while beeing permaspotted from enemy planes somewhere on E2. -

"Pull" versus "Push" based game design. Conclusion.
ForlornSailor replied to KarmaQU_EU's topic in General Discussion
It is perfectly fine and even more - absolutly needed. Dont like the mm? go to port, roll the dice again. Still not toptier? why bother! New round. We would see - and I can guarentee you this - an increase of afk ships by a few hundred percent, if that would be possible. People dont know, what their own ships are capable of. (A NO doesnt know what radar does, a Lo Yang cant use Hydro and a DDs are wondering, why they are getting torped in smoke, while at the same time they torp smokes). And you think, the reason why ppl play bad, is, cuz there are informations lacking in the game? I´d agree, that all the ships infos need to be accessable from the game - even ships, that have been removed from the shop & trees - f.e. Kamikaze R, Belfast - but to blame this lack of information on ppls missplays is a wrong conclusion. btw: rock-paper-scissors doesnt apply for wows, never did and its not intended to. And its good it isnt. This would mean (depending to what class you assign rocks, scissors and so on) - A DD couldnt kill a Cruiser, while the Cruiser would kill DDs without fearing anything. At the same time, a BB couldnt touch the DD, while beeing farmed by the DD. And the Cruiser couldnt hurt BBs... and so on. Then what happens, when there are no DDs in the game? Or no CV? Like it often happens? Sometimes 2 BBs, sometimes 5. Nobody forces you to play all ships. Nobody forces you to advance in the skill tree, for that matter. There are players out there with litereally thousands of games in T1 and T2. They never went further. To overstretch your PoV: We could remove all nations and all lines, just to replace them with : 10 cruisers, one for each Tier, 9 DDs, one for each tier, 8 BBs.... that would be a dull game, the playerbase would prolly shrink by... 40 to 90%. Isnt a discussion, where you highlight things, that you see as problems, without offering solutions or ideas, how it could be improved... nothing more but a whine? -

Ok, then what is the problem about this? WG needs to make money, dont you agree? Would you rather pay 9,95 per month to be able to log in? Or rather have the missions to state "use any premium ship to make / sink / hit..."? Everything is free. Nobody forces you to pay. Still you can get everything. And you complain... that you need to invest time? Again your logic baffles me on so many levels. This is a game. We are here to play it. Yet you complain, that you have to play. Solution: dont play - be happy? I dont know what you are looking for. Im the first to get the pitchfork out and start a good old mediavel style witchhunt when WG makes something stupid - but the rewards in these 2 missions are anything but badly designed. -

Agree. That valinrista is making a total fool out of himself - and yet thinks, he is smart. How he fails to understand, that this applys to DDs with heal aswell, is the best part. Just wow... -

ForlornSailor replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
On the other hand, you dont need the Duke of York for anything really. What do you gain from the 2nd Mission series? Handful of T6 silver ships. Couple of flags. A premium camo for Scharnhorst that give the same boni as the one, that comes with Scharnhorst. Only thing in there are the permanent camos for the T6 silver ships. Ive played 55 games within the last 7 days and I got pretty much through everything. Didnt finish all tasks, just went on, when I could unlock the final task. Why? If I dont have a Scharnhorst and dont plan on buying one - I wont. Matter of fact - one wouldnt even push so hard to get to that stage of the missions, let alone complain about it. Your chain of logic doesnt make sense, dont you think ? Lets put, what you said, in the perspectiv of mr. Random. Here is what he would say, following your logic: "Great, now I have to play so much, to unlock that DoY. I not gonna buy it though, never gonna happen. But I need those rewards from the other quests. So I gotta play more. Well thats just great. Now I have a permanent camo for a ship that I dont own. Must buy it now, nothing I can do about it". Besides the other points - you see the flawed logic one would need to have - not buying a premium ship but buying another premium ship cuz reason? -

Jack Dunkirk on Minotaur
ForlornSailor replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
I´d say dont use Jack Dunkirk on Minotaur, he is somewhat wasted there. btw - I play a lot of RN CL and I skill very very different then you. Vigilance and Smoke Screen Expert Ive never used (well, to be fair, I did Smoke Screen Expert prior to smoke change, and only on Leander, but its a waste tbh. That gives you already 5points. Adrenaline rush - questionable. Without that, you have 7 points. Enough to skill for AA.- 34 replies

Good catch. Its rather interesting, that things like this go unnoticed for so long. I´d say give it a day and see if someone reacts. They usualy do if they notice, they have been tagged, and its an important issue (I´d call this one here important) -
How is your Campaign "The Battle of the North Cape" doing (especially "Stage 5")?
ForlornSailor replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Incredible. thx for sharing. Ive seen close to that stupidity in the last days aswell. I had the Torpedo hit mission with RN Cruisers activated also, but didnt push for it. I got I done by a complete crazy move from the enemys. Was hiding on Loop on one of the outer islands with Neptune, happily firing over the cover, when I saw, a Yamato was moving full speed towards me, and there way no way, he wouldnt steam around my cover to blast me. So, undetected, I went into position and waited a moment to activate Hydro (didnt want to scare him until it was too late). I went "WOOT" when my Hydro uncovered a previously unspotted Missouri a ship lenght ahead of that Yamato - that guy stayed stealth and didnt even bother to help shooting my Missouri Divisionmate behind me. Long story short: Easiest 124k dmg of my life & 11 Torpedohits done (would love to finish the story by telling, I survived it, but I didnt ^^). -
Stop your whine already. We get it, you are a DD-main, who wants to launch torpedos from stealth all the time without ever getting spotted. What you see as a perfect world is so one-sided, its worse then 90% of BBaBys whine. Besides that - one of the quotes litereally said: Radar is needed to counter good DD-Players, to what you answered "Yay, so if all DD-Players are good, we can remove Radar". tz. Just to give you something more to rage: If we would see Radar removed, we would need to remove stealth-firing capabilities for Torpedos - like on many lower tier DDs it is the case. Ever thought about why that is? I guess you didnt think that far. Well, then gl with 6 km torps on Shima, cuz ultimatly, thats what you are crying for.
-
Thats true. If we would see more radar, we sure need matchmaking to distribute them even. Its already a problem, especially with all the Missouris around lately. Luckily, they hardly are capable of understanding, what powerful tool they have. Its like many german DD-Players and Lo Yangs dont understand their huge advantage of Hydro. And I think, the entire problem is much deeper. Every new line of ships introduced needs a new gimmick, something, to make it special. I never understood why. This throws the balance between classes off. A cruiser is not a cruiser anymore, a DD not a DD and a BB not a BB - in the traditionale sense, when the game was born. Like you said, RN CLs brought parts of DD gameplay into the Cruiserclass. RN BBs then parts of gameplay, that we used to see from cruisers (HE, low concealment) and you can even take german DDs as DD hunters and Russian DDs as a sort of mix DD-CL-class. So it makes the game more complex and at the same time can make a specific game very unbalanced. The failure of ppl to understand the full potential of some ships isnt helping either, quite the opposite, it gets worse, the more gimmicks we get.
-
Well. We can now start a discussion about grammar and definition. Just that much: In my book, what you are talking about, is an indirect contact. Searching an activ contact / engagement would be, when the DD deliberatly goes into his spotting range and attacks the BB. And vice versa - if the BB knows, there is a DD around, and no other green ship inbetween them - activly hunting them. That doesnt happen. Not even the Khabarovsk qualifies for that type, cuz he will not engange within his detection range but from outside of it - using the maximum range of his guns, is possible. I think, the last week has shown, that DDs infact are the more influencal class. With the Campaign having up to 10 DDs per game, it was often down to which side had the better DDs, takes the win (or which side was able to take down the intelligent enemy DDs faster). It was also obvious, that many ppl played DD, that usualy dont play them. Ive seen so many stupid Lo Yangs... no way that they are usual DD players. They prolly bought that ship just to get the missions done. (actually - i got some screen of those players. will check numbers of games played in Lo Yang / DDs). Borderhugging BBs and super unicum BBs didnt seem to have that much of influence on the game. Bad BBs can make you lose - but awesome BBs dont win the game. if you can follow my logic here...
-
Radar was here before RN Cruisers came. Also, I rather see Radar an a mechanic, to counter the absence of CVs. The game was - initially - designed to have Carriers in every round. Its must be, cuz else there is no logic on picking either Hydro or Def AA. It was only the Meta that started making this pick flawed. So, since there are no Planes to spot DDs, they have way more freedom. Especially high tier DDs, with their concealment mod and the insane amount of Torpedos with long range - this really only starts at T9 - they need a different counter. Radar. And tbh - Radar is no were near the effectivnis of a CV, when it comes to spotting DDs - and torps...
-
I think, your logic is flawed there... If it would be true, it would mean, that BBs and DDs are constantly interacting - which they are not. More or less, both classes want to avoid direct contact with each other.
-
Wut? 11,X km on most Cruisers vs 16,X km on most BBs at t4? DDs concealment is is fine the way it is. If anything, the interaction between T6 to T9 DDs is wrong, cuz of the concealment module available starting T8. In the current state, I have no problems at all hunting DDs with my CLs. The rare occasion I meet a really good DD player, I can atleast keep him busy and reach a pat situation on our cap.

- Always pick flag containers. You will get Papa-Papa (+300% Free XP) at some point - Combine aka stack flags and camo that give XP Boni. - Play different ships, to get the daily win bonus - will effect Free XP also. - Use the flags on ships what you are comfortable with - Save flags and camos with good Boni for times, when there are +200% Daily Win Boni.
-
I´d agree on this one. While Lion and Conq can be very forgiving and at the same time strong ships - the line offers nothing to look forward to after the Iron Duke. Meanwhile, IJN has Nagato & Amagi. Trust me, you need to switch ammunition on RN BBs. If you play HE only, you wont have the power to influence a game, thats on the edge. When your team is winning anyway, you can swim with the mass. And farm tons of damage spamming HE, granted. If you are losing and outnumbered - HE aint gonna help you really.
