I will answer this with pretty much this: I just had one of those games, that serve as a prime example. Our BBs shoot HE, our Z-52 obviously missed that he isnt a RN CL, meanwhile enemy Gearing (or Fletcher) went nuts in our spawn, where our camping BBs where. I myself had the honor of taking 6 torps in the process, defending the base on two brothers as Missouri - meanwhile, we had Des Moines and Z-52 camping in no-mans-land. All the cry for help from me and a Yamato, that a DD is raging in our spawn, got ignored. Or well, not completly. The Z-52 managed to write "[edited]off". Its prime time. what did I expect? Well, to bring it back on topic: Radar saved the day, I still dont know how we managed to win by points - actually, there are explanations to that. The enemy Missouri didnt know how to use Radar (left our Neptune alive on ~7km range in smoke) and the enemy FdG was spamming me with HE while I was hunting the DD in our base. How much bad play can there be in one round? But who got rewarded then for bad play in this example? The Z-52? Nope. He managed to do nothing. The enemy team? Nope, they lost. The enemy Gearing? Well. While he managed to get ~100k dmg I guess - he still lost. All the other HE spamming BBs? Not according to the scoretable. At the end of the day - bad play will be bad play. And you cant profit from it.

For that matter, I think we have to ask the question : what is balance and how is it influenced? You can have different stands on that, and thus answer the question both "yes" or "no". And even a "yes" wouldbt neccessarily mean, that Radar is OP, unbalanced or anything of that kind. What if mm gives one side 2 HE spamming Conquerors + 2 Zaos - and the other side gets 2 Kurfürst and a Minotaur and Zao? Does this change the balance? Tend to say yes - cuz if they combine their HE-effords, its very strong. Add CVs to the mix, where the Conq/Zao-mix will take out a lot of AA-modules from the enemys, and we slide more towards a powershift infavor of that team. But whats the conclusion from this? With the meanwhile very broad variety of ships with national flavours - there are so many examples like this. 1 Team gets Shima + Gearing, other gets one Khaba. Does it change the balance? One team gets 2 Hindenburg, 1 Moskva - other gets 2 Minotaur, 1 Henry IV - Does it change the balance? This. We all have the choice of selecting the ship, which we feel, gives us the best chances to win a game. Nobody really would pick a ship, where he knows, he cant do anything with it - this even counts for players with 30% WR and 10k avg dmg. Even they pick a certain ship, cuz they feel, thats what they are best in. I was wondering anyway - how could Radar reward bad play? For that matter - how could any game mechanic reward bad play? Can DefAA reward bad play? Hydro?

Ive found, that Neptune (not at Mino yet) starts to have the potential to really get rid of DDs quick. If the enemys dont support their DDs enough, or the DDs push too quick ahead, depending on the map, you can even get away with a crazy rush in the start, take out DD(s) and then fall back undetected again. That was pretty much my biggest problem with radar Edinburgh - you are very dependent on your team. If all works out fine, you get away without smoke. If your team struggles - you are minced meat. Thats why I draw the conclusion, that those games, where I have been strong with radar-Edin - would most likely be a win anyway. And the games, where I need to carry, I cant cuz I would need smoke. But Mino (Neptune) might be a different case, since the ships are so different from Edinburgh... Now you got me thinking again.

Yes and no - I guess. I think, some ppl have problems with Divisions in general. For me its rather the lack of options, that I have, when I want to play Divisions - I can only do it in randoms. I´d love to have an option for private servers, where I could play with ppl that I like, on maps and gamemodes that I prefer. I think I would play like 3 or 4 times more then right now... -
Clan vs. Clan battes: Primetime in the future
ForlornSailor replied to Crysantos's topic in News Archive
In a rather slowpaced game like wows, which also has a pretty good netcode, ping is not really an issue. Its only important to remain a relativly stable ping and not to have packetloss. Then again, those issues are often client-side or due to problems of the ISP, so they would affect you no matter on what server you play. -
Interesting. yeah, reading again, you can translate that post this way. I did understand it the exact way as @ghostbuster_ did tho.

You play Mino with Radar - like most of the time? How is that working out for you? Ive done some testing with Edinburgh (due to the low concealment) but I wasnt really happy with the results. You dont often get to see the endgame :D

Hands down - one of the best vids Ive seen from wows. ever. And it shows, why I envy my divisionmate @DFens_666, that he has Hindenburg and I have Moskva -
True. And Mino with Radar... overall not the best choice imo. Had to do it, was just too good . Atleast I do it as a joke - not like someone else here in this topic. Which brings me to.... Oohw. Look, he is stomping his tiny-DD feet. (Not to mention, once again, your conclusion falls right back to you and nobody else). But we love DDs. seriously. Especially the sounds they make when they explode... ...or after you radard em... ...sometimes, we have little friendly contests, who kills em faster... ...or i like to get double strikes on capping DDs.... ...and my favourite: popping DDs with my BBs! Its almost challenging...well, almost that is... This post has been edited by the moderation team due to spamming.

So I can have Smoke on my Chapayev! Building my very own Kutuzov - yay! The answer I remember was something like "we dont see a problem there". Thats rather the reason, they dont look into it. Same with DDs. I dont think 1 vs 0 Radarships is a huge difference. Ive seen games with 4 vs 0... 5 vs 2 - which could have been balanced better. If you´d argue that 1 Radar needs to be balanced, then we cant have 5 vs 4 BBs anymore and 4 vs 3 DDs. Or even worse - 1 vs 0 DD - which, im sure you will agree, is tenfold worse then 1 vs 0 Radarships.
-
Can be true. Not neccessary tho. And I agree - Ive acually posted it like... a year ago? as have many others... that mm needs to take Radarships into account. Yay and nay. Bad DDs dont get away either. Real good DDs can play around Radar. Good DDs on lower tiers are a pain in the butt. No CV = they roam completly free. Did a division not long ago with a Kamikaze. MM was 1 DD vs 0 DD and 0 CVs. He couldnt stop laughing from the moment the match loaded until he sank his fifth target. I was already afraid of his health - luckily, he hurried so we did get it over with in 7 mins something. Balance. Such as "wall of skill" from DDs T8-T10 I usualy see 2-3 DD per side. T5-T7 much lower. Sometimes - as I said above - 0 or 1. But hardly 3. Oh yeah, and before the PADDs came, I think I had 1 out of 2 games on T4 with each side going 0 DDs. Must be Radar keeping them from lower tiers? I dont think Radar has any impact on the distribution of classes. Stats atleast confirm, that radarcruisers are rarer then the same nations cruisers without Radar. Look it up. And Newbs, that want to play Yamato & Bismarck, will play Yamato & Bismarck, no matter what is happening around them.

Nah Radarships are worth less. Thats why every team needs to be punished with a equal number of them, for having to put up with them ^^

ForlornSailor replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
I noticed ^^. It was almost absurd... our teamchat went nuts, complaining, that we didnt "radar the enemy DD" - I was about to ask them, if they need glasses? -
Edinburgs torps are a joke for that Tier. Tier-to-Tier, Fijis torps are pretty much equal, if not better. But yea, the problem is the matchmaking. The odd T6 game with Edinburgh, that you get once in a blue moon - you really are the bully. The game gave me one of those as a "farewell" in my last game in Edin. That was truely awesome. But Edin ist not a keeper (for randoms), cuz I can just take the Neptune and am better by a long shot in ... everything. PS: 472 games in Fiji here ;)
-
The thing about the mm is also this: A Musashi is replacing a T9 ship in the enemy team. So, basically, Mushashi is either a Yamato with bonus matchmaking (when in T7 game) or it gives the team a bonus of +1 T10 BB (lets say + ~0,9, if you want to count the disadvantages of Musashi compared to Yamato) in a T10-battle. I think this is a constant development. Ive noticed the same, but it has already started before the introduction of Musashi. The glory days of T7-MM are over. w/e the reasons are.

You know what - bottomline is, I dont owe you any answer. Im perfectly inline with WG here. Im happy the way it is. YOU have a problem - not me :) btw - I have a list of your arguments against Radars right here: . Dont see it? Me neither. I dont think I want to help you tbh?
-
So what you are saying is: Edinburgh should be T7 and Fiji T8. Or should Edinburgh rather go on T6? Cuz if you would put Edinburgh on T7 it would be a Belfast without radar and concealment module... and since Belfast is already bad ... umm...well I changed my mind. Belfast T6 and Edinburgh T5. Starts to make sense now. Maybe then Belfast & Edinburgh wont be XP-Pinatas anymore - what do you think? Or can u first explain... this?

Doesnt matter what ppl think. There are ways to abuse it and it would go against the micropayment-model, which is essential for the game. -
I cant help you, if you close your eyes to the answers.... Covering ears & eyes doesnt change the reality u know.

Then again - this is 1 out of 12 players. Doesnt help at all, if you have 11 testmonkeys in your team... Yep...true. Russian Cruisers are most affected. RN CLs still can go AA-build all the way, its even helpful doing to on Fiji. -

It can still win the game. But anyway - you did agree, that those divisions are wrong too I guess. -

For me personally - to a degree yes. I cant speak for everybody ofc. Problem with CV is - they are very influencal. In your example, there could still be a CV around, not controlled by that division, and with skill level differences in CVs, it could overcome such a division.
